Even common things can make a difference to us.
My wife, daughter and I moved into our home nine years ago and we spent a lot of time and energy in the yard making it what it looks like today. The yard has a beautiful rock wall.
Last summer, when I cleared (清除) grass in the rock garden, I found a tiny little plant and I could not name it soon. I knew I didn’t plant it and my wife said that she didn’t either. We decided to let it keep growing until we could know what it was.
Weeks passed and as I made my way back to the plant, it appeared to be a sunflower. I decided to treat it with care and clear grass around it. As I pulled rocks from the area to get to the grass, I noticed something special. The sunflower actually began under a big rock and grew under and around it to reach the sun.
That’s when I realized that if a tiny little sunflower didn’t let a big rock stand in its way of growing, we also have the ability to do the same thing. We need to believe in ourselves and know we have the abilities to reach our goals. Like the sunflower, it knew it had the ability to face its difficulty (困难) because it was sure it could succeed.
Stand tall like the sunflower and be proud (自豪的) of who and what we are. In this way, things around us will begin to help us. We will find a way to reach our goals.
