Learning Objectives
In this lesson you will:
1. get the detailed information about the two stories;
2. talk about what you can learn from the stories;
3. pronounce letter combinations ch, ph, sh, th, and wh in different
words correctly;
4. pay attention to the word liaison(单词连读) in sentences.

“The Fisherman and the Goldfish” is a classic fairy tale. The story is about a fisherman who catches a magical goldfish that grants wishes. The tale teaches the moral lesson that moderation is key and excessive greed can lead to loss.
The story“The mouse and the lion” shows the importance of friendship, courage, wisdom and tolerance through the interaction between the little mouse and the big tiger. It also conveys the profound meaning that “do not judge a person by his appearance, everyone has his own value and strength”.
The story of “adding the finishing touch” which is used to describe adding a brilliant sentence at the end of an article or speech to make it more perfect and vivid.
The fable “Seon lost his horse, but knew it was a blessing” tells the story of an old man (Seon) who lost his horse and experienced a series of events, and finally got a blessing from misfortune.

Peter: Sure. Once a lion caught a mouse. The mouse was afraid. He said, “Please let me go! One day I will help you!” The lion laughed and let the mouse go. Later, a hunter caught the lion in a net. The mouse helped the lion then. He bit through the net and set the lion free!
Chen Jie: I like that story. Kindness is never wasted.

People said, “That’s great!” But the farmer said, “Maybe.” Later, his son broke his leg when he tried to ride a horse. People said, “That’s terrible!” Again, the farmer said, “Maybe.” Well, because of his leg, the son didn’t have to join a war. That saved his life!
Emma: I see. Unlucky things may turn out well. And good things could go wrong too.
Teng Fei: Yes, you never know.
