Passage 1
The greening of planes, trains and automobiles
Moving goods and people around the world is responsible for a large part of global CO₂ emissions (排放). As the world races to decarbonize everything, it faces particular problems with transportation — which accounts for about a quarter of our energy-related greenhouse gas emissions. Here's the breakdown of the emissions in 2018 for different modes of transport.
ROAD (PASSENGER) 45.1%
ROAD (GOODS) 29.4%
SHIPS 11.6%
AVIATION 10.6%
RAIL 1.4%
OTHER 1.9%
The fuels for transport need to be not just green, cheap and powerful, but also lightweight and safe enough to be carried around. Each mode of transport has its specific fuel needs. Much is still to be settled, but here are some of the solutions to get us going green.
This energy transition (变革) is global, and the amount of renewable energy the world will need is "a little bit mind-blowing," says mechanical engineer Keith Wipke at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. It's estimated that the global demand for electricity could more than double by 2050. Fortunately, analyses suggest that renewables are up to the task. "We need to speed up the development of green energy, and it will all get used," says Wipke.
21. What percentage of global transport emissions did road vehicles account for in 2018?
A 11.6% B 45.1% C 74.5% D 86.1%
22. Which mode of transport can go green comparatively easily?
A Planes B Trucks C Trains D Ships
23. What does Wipke suggest regarding energy transition?
A Limiting fuel consumption
B Putting more effort into renewables
C Improving energy efficiency
D Making electricity more affordable

English Market Towns to Visit in the UK
English market towns come in many shapes and sizes. Each has a personality shaped by the goods and services produced and traded for centuries. But each town has more to do than shop.
Hereford, Herefordshire
Hereford has remained a lively market town since 1189. Skirting the town square, you’ll find lovely shops, eateries, and the Black and White House Museum. The Hereford Cathedral is the most impressive building in town. It’s also home to an ancient library. One of the four original copies of the Magna Carta is displayed there.
Ludlow, Shropshire
Ludlow is known as the Foodie Center of England. Butcher shops, greengrocers, bakeries, and cheese shops line the town square. Bordering the square, the Ludlow Castle is a “must explore” medieval stronghold. The three-day Ludlow Food Festival is held each September.
Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Shrewsbury is surrounded by the River Severn. The river makes a sharp bend as it flows through the town, almost making an island of Shrewsbury Town Center. The shape creates a perfect market where goods could be shipped and received using the river as a highway.
Mevagissey, Cornwall
Mevagissey is a charming fishing village turned market town. Its narrow streets are lined with art galleries, gift shops, and seafood restaurants. The town’s harbor is still busy with fishing boats, and visitors can take boat trips to explore the nearby coast.
1.Where can you find an original copy of the Magna Carta?
A. In the Ludlow Castle
B. In the Foodie Center of England
C. In the Hereford Cathedral
D. In the Black and White House Museum
2.What is a feature of Shrewsbury Town Center?
A. It is located near a river bend
B. It is famous for medieval castles
C. It is surrounded by ancient walls
D. It is known for three-day food festivals
3.What do Ludlow and Mevagissey have in common?
A. They are both fishing villages
B. They have busy town squares
C. They offer seafood restaurants
D. They are ideal for art lovers

答案:1.C 2.B 3.B 4.A
原文定位:you will not be allowed to borrow new books within two weeks。
原文 two weeks = 选项里的 14 days;
原文 not be allowed to borrow books 同义改写为 borrowing rights will be suspended(借阅权限暂停),这是高考应用文最常考的句式同义替换。
原文时间用 a.m./p.m.
A(周三早 8:30)早于开门时间;C(周日下午 4:30)晚于闭馆时间;D(元旦)属于法定假日,图书馆闭馆。
原文 clean and undamaged 同义替换为选项 new... with no marks(崭新、无涂鸦)。

Passage 4
How sustainable are fake meats?
If you are an environmentally conscious meat-eater, a touch of guilt at the dinner table is common. Meat production imposes significant environmental costs, including deforestation, greenhouse gas emissions, and air and water pollution — all pressing issues as the world struggles with climate change. This has fueled growing interest in plant-based meats, such as Impossible Burger and Beyond Meat, which imitate real meat’s taste and texture (质地) without animal ingredients and are specifically marketed to traditional meat-eaters as a lower-impact alternative.
Research highlights meat’s heavy environmental cost. Farm animals contributes about 15% of global greenhouse gas emissions, with cattle alone ranking second globally in emissions if considered a country. The UN projects global meat demand will swell by 15% by 2031, worsening deforestation and emissions. Grazing animals like cattle are far more harmful than pigs and chickens: per pound of meat, beef’s greenhouse gas emissions are over six times those of pork and nearly nine times those of chicken, due to methane (甲烷) released when cattle digest grass.
Plant-based meats aim to address this crisis. Studies conducted by Impossible and Beyond show their burgers drastically cut environmental harm.
Despite requiring deep processing, life cycle analyses confirm their environmental advantages — they use just 2-24% of the land and water needed for meat to provide equal protein. Hurdles remain: they cost 43% more than meat, struggle to imitate whole-muscle foods like steak, and rely on industrial agriculture. Yet for meat-lovers unwilling to switch to tofu or beans, plant-based meats offer a vital stopgap to reduce climate harm while satisfying their appetites.
10.What is special about plant-based meats like Impossible Burger and Beyond Meat?
A.They both contain a large quantity of animal ingredients in their production.
B.They are primarily marketed to people who follow a vegetarian diet.
C.They reproduce the flavor of real meat while free of animal ingredients.
D.They tend to be more expensive compared with traditional meat.
11.What do we know about Beyond’s burger from the passage?
A.It emits 11% of a beef burger’s greenhouse gas.
B.It uses only 1% of the water needed for beef production.
C.It costs 43% less than traditional meat.
D.It can perfectly mimic whole-muscle foods like steak.
12.Where is this passage most likely taken from?
A.A science magazine B.A cookery book C.A travel guide D.A health journal
【答案】10.C 11.B 12.A
根据第一段中“This has fueled growing interest in plant-based meats, such as Impossible Burger and Beyond Meat, which imitate real meat’s taste and texture (质地) without animal ingredients and are specifically marketed to traditional meat-eaters as a lower-impact alternative.( 这促使人们对植物性肉类产生了越来越多的兴趣,比如“不可能汉堡”和“超越肉类”,它们在不使用动物成分的情况下模仿了真肉的味道和质地,并且专门针对传统肉食者进行营销,作为一种对环境影响较小的替代品。)”

Gardening has become increasingly popular among children in the UK. A survey conducted by You Gov and the RHS gathered responses from 1,200 children, 80% of whom had gardening experience and harvested joy from it for multiple reasons, as is shown in the chart.
Gardens contribute to children’s growth as a powerful way to connect with grandparents, parents and carers, who pass on knowledge, stories and a love of growing. Gardens are also living classrooms. From understanding how plants thrive to discovering the insets and wildlife that share our spaces, gardening offers hands-on learning that supports both well being and environmental awareness. In the follow-up interview with the children surveyed about their dream gardens, many frequently listed hideouts like treehouses, secret corners and blanket tents. These are among the top desirable garden components for young minds. Such a feature turns a simple space into a magical world where kids can play, explore, and enjoy their own time.
Gardens, however, face severe challenges: biodiversity is threatened, public biosecurity awareness is insufficient, and many households have no equal access to gardens. Fortunately, community and school gardens are developing well. Gardeners are adopting sustainable methods, while cross-sector cooperation and technology are promoting environmental horticulture (园艺学). To fully realize gardens’ value, four key priorities must be emphasized in the future.
RecognitionGardens should be integrated into policies concerning health, education, climate and biodiversity, with environmental horticulture valued as an essential green skill.
CollaborationPartnerships across government, industry, communities and individuals help build lasting garden programs, expand successful models, and make gardens shared assets.
GARDENS’FUTURE
InvestmentMore investment in training, infrastructure (基础设施) and research is required to make sure of the garden sector’s long-term and future development.
AccessGardening should be guaranteed for all people in various private and public spaces, from homes and schools to hospitals and community settings.
16.How many surveyed children enjoy gardening for its environmental benefit?
A.288. B.384. C.480. D.960.
17.What is the feature of children’s dream garden?
A.Family connections. B.Private play areas.
C.Wildlife protection. D.Botanical knowledge.
18.What does the author suggest regarding gardens’ future?
A.Relying on government’s support. B.Raising funds to expand private gardens.
C.Making laws about climate change. D.Ensuring convenient access for the public.
【答案】16.B 17.B 18.D

Passage 5
This chart shows global GDP per capita, adjusted for inflation. Looking at the world economy from this perspective, it is the steadiness of this change that stands out. Average incomes per person have risen at a fairly constant pace of roughly 2% per year, interrupted only by the 2008 financial crisis and the 2020 pandemic.
A definition of economic growth that can be found in many publications is “an increase in the amount of goods and services produced per head of the population over a period of time.” There is one example of how growth is possible and what economic growth is. A few centuries ago, the only way to produce a book was for a scribe (抄写员) to copy it word-for-word by hand. Book production was a slow process; it took a scribe about eight months of daily work to produce a single copy of the Bible.
It was so laborious that only very few books were produced. But then, in the 15th century, Johannes Gutenberg developed a new production technology, and it changed things dramatically. Instead of spending months to produce one book, a worker was now able to produce several books a day. Books, which were previously only available to a tiny group, became available to more and more people.
Actually, national economies change. Some economies slow; many others grow and more generally, some major political shifts take place. Yet when all of this is combined, the global average follows a remarkably smooth upward trend.
31.What’s the most striking feature of world economy?
A.The slowdown of global growth after the 2008 financial crisis.
B.The rapid growth of global growth due to technological progress.
C.The permanent interruption to global growth by the 2020 pandemic.
D.The relative consistency of global growth over the last three decades.
32.How does the author explain the concept of economic growth?
A.By citing an expert. B.By listing definitions.
C.By giving an example. D.By providing statistics.
33.What is the key factor that led to the dramatic change in book production?
A.The emergence of workers. B.The printing press technology.
C.The wide availability of paper. D.The growing number of scribes.
根据第一段“Looking at the world economy from this perspective, it is the steadiness of this change that stands out. Average incomes per person have risen at a fairly constant pace of roughly 2% per year, interrupted only by the 2008 financial crisis and the 2020 pandemic.(从这个角度来看,全球经济的变化之所以引人注目,是因为其变化的稳定性。人均收入一直以大约每年2%的稳定速度增长,只是在2008年金融危机和2020年疫情期间有所中断)”可知,世界经济最显著的特点是在过去三十年里,全球经济增长的相对稳定性。故选D。
32.推理判断题。根据第二段“A definition of economic growth that can be found in many publications is “an increase in the amount of goods and services produced per head of the population over a period of time.” There is one example of how growth is possible and what economic growth is. A few centuries ago, the only way to produce a book was for a scribe (抄写员) to copy it word-for-word by hand. Book production was a slow process; it took a scribe about eight months of daily work to produce a single copy of the Bible.(许多出版物中对经济增长的定义是:“在一定时期内,人均所生产的商品和服务数量的增加。”这里有一个关于经济增长如何实现以及经济增长是什么的示例。几个世纪以前,要出版一本书,唯一的办法就是由抄写员逐字逐句地手抄完成。书籍的出版是一个缓慢的过程;一个抄写员每天工作约八个月才能完成一本《圣经》的抄写工作)”可知,作者通过举例的方式阐释经济增长这一概念。故选C。
33.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“But then, in the 15th century, Johannes Gutenberg developed a new production technology, and it changed things dramatically. Instead of spending months to produce one book, a worker was now able to produce several books a day. Books, which were previously only available to a tiny group, became available to more and more people.(但随后,在15世纪,约翰内斯·古腾堡开发出了一种新的生产技术,这彻底改变了局面。以前要花费数月时间才能制作出一本书,而现在一名工人每天就能生产出好几本。此前只有极少数人能够获得书籍,而如今越来越多的人能够接触到书籍了)”可知,导致书籍生产发生巨大变革的关键因素是印刷技术。故选B。

Passage 6
Gardening for Children: Joys They Love and Futures We Build

A.288. B.384. C.480.
