一、阅读理解
Yang Zhenning, a great physicist, passed away on October 18, 2025, in Beijing at 103. He was born in Anhui in 1922. As a child, he loved science. He studied at Southwestern Associated University, a famous school that trained many good students during hard times. Later, he studied in the US at the University of Chicago.
In 1957, Yang and his friend Li Zhengdao won the Nobel Prize in Physics. They did the important work on the“parity nonconservation(宇称不守恒)”theory. This changed how scientists understand the universe. Also, Yang’s“Yang-Mills Theory(杨米尔斯理论)” is a very important part of modern physics, just like Einstein’s Theory of Relativity (相对论).
Though he lived in the US for many years, Yang always loved China. He was the first Chinese scholar to visit China after a long time, helping China and the US have academic (学术的) talks again. He advised the Chinese government to make the basic science research better and helped nearly 100 Chinese students study in the US. At the age of 77, he came back to work at Tsinghua University, training young scientists and helping physics develop in China.
Yang loved science and his country. His motto was“Be honest rather than clever” which encourages young people to seek truth in science and life.

二、阅读表达
The greatest scientists are famous not only for their discoveries, but also for their interesting lives. Having a special, uncommon mind often goes hand in hand with unusual acts.
Nikola Tesla is known for many inventions. One is the Alternating Current (交流电). While inventing something, Tesla was good at keeping things in mind, because he used picture thinking and imagined every step in his mind first. Tesla said he wanted to do it because of his mother, who invented small electrical machines when he was a child.
Another scientist encouraged by his mother was Albert Einstein, though what he got from his mother was a love of music. In fact, Einstein often played the piano and violin to help him brainstorm.
Einstein’s great works include the most famous E=MC2 and his Theory of Relativity. However, thanks to his wild hair, he is also well-known for the looks of a “mad scientist” and you can tell that he had some interesting quirks (怪癖). For example, he had a strong dislike of wearing socks.
Sometimes, the smartest of us are also the strangest. That quiet child in the corner may one day be the next Tesla or Einstein.
