主题01 人与社会——肢体语言
Passage 1
Body language is important in communication. However, the same body language can have very different meanings in different cultures. Here are some examples.
Nodding your head usually means “yes”.
But in Bulgaria and Greece, nodding up and down means “no”.
In the West, people like to look at each other when they talk. Strong eye contact is very common in Spain, Greece and Arab countries.
Finns and Japanese are not feeling good when others keep staring at them during a talk. They only make eye contact at the start of a discussion.
Tapping your nose means “secret” in England.
In Italy, the same body language means “be careful”.
In many cultures, like Italy and the U. S., people use their arms freely when talking. They often wave their arms around.
Northern Europeans don’t like this way to talk with others. They think it shows disrespect and is like acting in a play. In Japan, gesturing (做手势) with broad arm movements is thought to be impolite.
Sitting cross-legged is common in North America and some European countries.
In many countries in Asia and the Middle East, sitting like this is not respectful.

Passage 5
If you watch a long line of ants, you will find they can move without (没有) running into each other. That’s amazing! Unlike people, ants walk in good lines even when there are hundreds of them. Let’s learn how they do this!
Ants are very small and don’t have traffic lights, but there is no problem when they work together! How? When they need food, one brave ant goes out first. When it walks, it leaves behind a special smell called a pheromone (信息素). Other ants smell and follow it. This way, everyone knows where to go without getting lost.
Scientists watched ants getting food and saw something cool. Ants usually work in small groups of 3 to 20 ants to carry the food, all moving at the same speed (速度). They stay close but not too close, like friends holding hands. If an ant slows down, the ants behind don’t push. They just slow down too! This helps them keep moving.
Maybe ants’ smart tricks could help people with traffic problems. And people can learn from ants to make the road safer and faster! Imagine if cars could move like ants, they could drive in groups at the same speed. And there will be no speeding or sudden (突然的) stops! Remember: the key is teamwork, patience (耐心), and following simple rules!

Old wives’ tales are those “helpful” things that your grandparents say. But they are probably not true. They are things like, “If you watch TV a lot, your sight will be poor”, “If you eat carrots, you’ll see well in the dark”, or “If you eat cheese at night, you’ll have bad dreams”. But are they nonsense (胡扯) or sometimes a little bit true? We decided to find out more.
Let’s start with a famous one, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. My grandma always says this. Well, everyone knows that fruit is important for health. But can one apple really make a difference? A study says “yes”. It finds that if people over 50 eat an apple a day, they have smaller chances to have heart disease (心脏病) than those who don’t.
My uncle is a big believer that “fish is brain (大脑) food.” He often eats it and he is a clever man, too. It looks like he might be right. Fish have a lot of omega-3 and omega-6 fats in their oil. Some scientists from Oxford studied 120 children, and they find the children who eat omega-3 and omega-6 do well in their schoolwork. If you eat fish oil, it will help to prevent (预防) heart problems, too. It seems that eating fish is a good idea.
____★____ Can they really help us see well at night? I eat carrots all my life, but I still walk into things when I get up at night. Unluckily, I can’t find anything to tell if this is right or wrong.

“To do well in math, I think it’s important to truly understand the logic (逻辑) behind each question, not just learn formulas (公式) by heart.” said Mi Zhuxuan,18, Beijing, a top-performing student at Haidian Foreign Language Academy. He ranked among the top in the high school entrance exam. The following is his advice on math learning.
I see math as a puzzle game. Every time I get a wrong answer, I ask myself, “Why?” Then I write down my mistake. That’s how I remember not to make it again next time.
For example, when studying geometry (几何), I use colored pens to clearly draw each step. This makes it easier for me to see and solve hard problems.
Also, I study with friends. We take turns explaining questions to each other. If I can explain something clearly, it shows I really get it!
In short, to get better at math, don’t rush. Think clearly, enjoy solving problems and keep learning from mistakes. That’s how I reached the top of the class.
6. What’s the key to doing well in math according to Mi?
A. Understand the logic behind each question. B. Learn formulas by heart.
C. Write down all the mistakes. D. Explain questions clearly.
7. Which is NOT Mi’s way of math learning?
A. Keep learning from mistakes. B. Enjoy solving problems.

A. Because it makes him understand questions clearly by explaining to each other.
B. Because it is easier for him to solve hard problems.
C. Because it makes him remember not to make the same mistake again next time.
D. Because he is the top student of the class.
9. Which of the following can show the structure of the text?

21. In the first paragraph, how are ants different from people?
A. Ants walk in a longer line. B. Ants line up and work together better.

C. Small groups keep the same speed. D. They walk far from one another.
24. What may ants teach us?
A. Building more roads. B. Driving in a big group.
C. Having more traffic lights. D. Making roads safer and faster.
25. What does the writer think of the ants?
A. It’s amazing. B. It’s helpful. C. It’s boring. D. It’s interesting.

6. According to the passage, which of the following is true about old wives’ tales?
A. They are all helpful. B. Some may tell a little truth. C. They make kids have bad dreams.

A. Finally, what about carrots? B. Let’s eat more carrots. C. Carrots can’t help us see well.
10. What’s the structure (结构) of the passage?
A. B. C.

(2025七年级下·四川宜宾·期末)
These days, a lot of people are facing weight problems in China. A report says about 50 percent (百分之) of adults (成年人) and 20 percent of teenagers are overweight. If people don’t take action, about 70 percent of Chinese adults will be overweight by (到…时候) 2030.
There are some reasons for this. First, people eat too much fast food. It’s easy and delicious, but it often has a lot of salt, fat and sugar. That makes them put on weight. Eating fast food like pizza and hamburgers too often may cause heart problems. Second, now many people spend too much time using computers, phones instead of exercising. Third, they always stay up late and don’t get enough sleep.
To keep fit, people should improve their eating habits. It’s better for them to cook healthy balanced meals at home. They should eat more vegetables and fruits, and drink water or milk instead of soda or milk tea. You are what you eat. Also, try to exercise for about an hour every day, such as walking, jogging, swimming and so on. Last but not least, please remember to go to bed early.
The government (政府) is helping, too. It carries out the “Weight Management Year” plan (体重管理年计划). This plan can help people understand the importance of a healthy body. It also gives people advice on how to eat healthily and exercise regularly (有规律地). As long as we all work together, we can keep fit.

People can do different sports using special things, but running is still the easiest way to exercise. These tips can make your running safe and fun.
Get good running shoes. You don’t need shoes that cost (花费) a lot of money. However, it’s important to buy real running shoes that have enough cushioning (缓冲) to save your back, feet and legs from getting hurt.
Walk first! For the first four weeks, you should have a 10-minute warm-up walk before you start running slowly.
Run regularly (规律地)! Make sure you run and walk at least (至少) three times a week. Please don’t run if you’re sick—it will make your get-better time longer.
Don’t copy the best runners! The best runners have special bodies that can do very hard training. Regular runners shouldn’t try to do the same.
Take your time. Don’t join races too soon, even if friends want you to. Wait until you can run 30 minutes without stopping before your first 5 km fun run.
Find a running friend. Some great friendships begin when you practice together.
Have fun! It’s okay to want to win, but don’t let worries hurt your health or daily life. Don’t race every week—it’s the fastest way to get hurt.

I love answering questions! If you ask me, “Why is the sky blue?” I’ll try to tell you the coolest answers. I can help you spell your name or count to 100-super fast! I can even practice English with you. I also like telling stories! I really love helping kids like you learn new things. Guess what? I never sleep! Ask anytime you need me.
But there’s one thing I can’t do: I can’t hug you (I wish I could!). I’m just words on a screen, but I’ll always be your friend who listens and tries to make you smile.

Passage 12
(2025七年级下·四川绵阳·期末)
Thanks to better health care, most people are living healthier and longer lives. Someone who is born today can expect to live about thirty-five years longer than someone who was born in the nineteenth century. It is even thought that in the future more and more people will celebrate their 100th birthdays. Here are some rules for a healthy life.
Get off the sofa!
Sure, it is comfortable to sit on the sofa and watch TV. But doctors say you should get off the sofa. To keep fit, you have to walk at least 10,000 steps every day. In the past, people’s jobs required more physical effort. They often had to walk for miles every day. When farmers were working in the fields, they were keeping fit at the same time. Think about it: Do you get the same amount(数量)of exercise today as they did in the past?
Eat healthy food!
It is important to eat food that is fresh and natural, for example, fruit and vegetables. Fast food is not healthy. You should only have it once in a while. Eating too much of the wrong food will harm your health.
Rest while you can!
When we were babies, we slept for much of the night. Teenagers don’t need as much sleep as babies, but it is important for you to get about eight hours’ sleep a night. At weekends, you have got more time, so use it not just for your friends, but for rest too.
Do not worry. Be happy!
Many people believe that happiness is important for our general health. Sometimes it is not easy to be a teenager because of the difficulties of school, exams or friendships. If you are worried about something, talk to your parents or your teacher.
