Inflammation()is part of your body's healing mechanism-the reason why your knee
swelled and turned red when you injured it.Over time, inflammation may also harm the brain.Re-
searchers have found regularly adding anti-inflammatory foods to your diet may help to stop this
process. The recipe for anti-inflammatory foods to enjoy can change with the seasons.
Spring anti-inflammatory superstars
When the spring months arrive, look for carrots, mushrooms, and celery().
Summer anti-inflammatory superstars
Summer is prime time for many types of produce, and you'll have lots of choices.Berries
are a great anti-inflammatory option.Try different varieties of blueberries,blackberries,and
strawberries.Also reach for cherries,eggplant,watermelon,green beans,honeydew melon,
peaches,and plums(李子).
Fall anti-inflammatory superstars
Nothing says fall like a crisp apple. But there are a host of other anti-inflammatory foods to try
英语第2页(共8页)
as well, such as cabbage,cauliflower,garlic,peas,ginger(),and all types of lettuce.
Winter anti-inflammatory superstars
In the cold winter months, think green. Many green leafy vegetables star during this sea-
son, including kale, collard greens, and Swiss chard.Root vegetables like beets are another
great and hardy winter option.Reach for sweet potatoes.Other options to try are kiwi fruit,
lemons,oranges,and pineapple.
Whenever possible, when you choose an anti-inflammatory food, try to substitute it for a
less healthy option.For example,trade a muffin for a fresh-berry fruit salad,or a plate of
French fries for a baked sweet potato.Making small trades in your diet can add up to big
health benefits over time.
21.Which of the following can be the best choice for anti-inflammatory foods in Spring?
A.Water-containing foods.
B.Sweet foods.
C.Vegetable foods.
D.Meat-based foods.

Nearly 33,000 homes and businesses across Los Angeles County remained without power
on Sunday night,Forbes reported, citing the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
The department said its crews were "assessing the fire-affected areas"and power restoration
work would begin after the assessments are completed,Forbes reported.
A preliminary estimate by Accu Weather put the damage and economic losses of wildfires
so far between 135 billion and 150 billion.By comparison,Accu Weather estimated the
damage and economic losses caused by Hurricane Helene, which tore across six southeastern
states last fall,at $225 billion to $250 billion, the AP report said.
As officials try to determine the cause of a wildfire that has burned an estimated 7,000
structures in and around Altadena, investigators keep returning to one place:an electrical
transmission tower in Eaton Canyon, according to LA Times.
Meanwhile,John Abatzoglou,a professor of Climatology at the University of California,
told the Global Times on Monday via email that there are many other places globally that
burn with more regularity than California, but the fires in the state have certainly been note-
worthy for their intensity,size,and impacts.
Abatzoglou said,"California has the perfect climate for fires,"explaining that typically
6-9 months of rain-free conditions during the warm season contribute to long curing periods
for vegetation to become receptive to igniting and carrying fire."The large year-to-year varia-
bility in precipitation allows for abundant grass and shrubs to flourish during the good years
and become fuel during dry times,he said.
"Topography that favors mountain fire weather features-like downslope Santa Ana
Winds that bring fire from the wildlands downhill into communities-and also contributes to
plenty of ignitions due to the population,he said.
Wang Hongwei,a professor from the Renmin University of China's school of public ad-
ministration and policy, who frequently took part in emergency response events in China, told
the Global Times that local weak disaster relief efforts, such as the shortage of firefighters in
the initial phase of rescue and fire hydrants()that ran dry, also fuel such large-scale
fires in California.
24.What caused Los Angeles County without power?
A.The Santa Ana Winds.
B.The hurricane.
C.The fires.
D.The humans.

Change is a natural part of growing up,but some transitions (can be particularly
challenging, especially for students facing a new school year or a new school environment.
Therefore, educators have long stressed the importance of managing transitions in a positive
way."If left unaddressed,these challenges can have long-lasting consequences on a child's
self-esteem(自尊心)and overall well-being,”explains Jo Crimmins from the Hong Kong A
cademy (HKA).
According to educators, the three most common areas that students struggle with when
changing schools are academics, social transitions and emotions.Whether it's adjusting to a
new curriculum, teaching styles or facing a heavier workload,or even just trying to make new
friends or manage peer relationships, the experiences can be challenging. So,it shouldn't
come as a surprise if students become stressed and anxious. For this reason, getting the right
support from parents and school is crucial.
Parental support comes in many forms, but having open communication is key.Parents
should encourage children to express their feelings while actively listening and recognizing
their concerns.Crimmins couldn't agree more, saying that children are more likely to talk to
their parents if they feel they are listened to."While it can be easy to provide an immediate so-
lution,it is often more helpful to ask guiding questions and inspire them to journey towards a
solution."Another thing parents can do to help their children is cultivate independence by
balancing support with personal space."If your child can, they should,"says Crimmins."But
act responsively and in time to observations that might indicate that a child needs your help."
Most importantly, educators agree that parents should build a close relationship with the
school and be open and honest to make the most of any available guidance and support. For
schools, this means regularly collecting feedback from parents, students and faculty;staying
current on the latest research and best practices in mental health and social-emotional learn-
ing,and identifying emerging trends and innovative approaches that could be tried.Basically,
staying ahead instead of being reactive.
28.What do educators advise students to do about school transitions?
A.Deal with them in a healthy way.
B.Avoid short-term negative effects.
C.Improve students'physical qualities.
D.Reduce students'dependence on teachers.
29.What can parents do for their children according to Crimmins?
A.Give their kids full freedom.
B.Offer them space and guidance.
C.Remind them not to make mistakes.
D.Provide direct plans and solutions for them in time.

30.What are schools expected to provide?
A.Academic tutoring and exam training.
B.Research funding and quick response.
C.Forward thinking and regular surveys.
D.Enough colorful after-school activities.
31.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.The reasons why students feel stressed during school transitions.
B.The importance of parents'open communication with children.
C.How to help students deal with school transitions positively.
D.The ways schools can support students in new environments.

In recent years, fears have mounted about how artificial intelligence-and robots-may
one day outsmart humans. However,Saturday's race suggested that humans still at least
have the upper hand when it comes to running. The robots were pitted against 12,000 human
contestants, running side by side with them in a fenced-off lane. After setting off from a coun-
try park, participating robots had to overcome slight slopes and a winding 21-kilometer (13-
mile)circuit before they could reach the finish line according to Beijing Daily.
Just as human runners needed to replenish themselves with water, robot contestants
were allowed to get new batteries during the race. The first robot across the finish line,
Tiangong Ultra-created by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center-finished the
route in two hours and 40 minutes. That's nearly two hours short of the human world record
of 56:42,held by Ugandan runner Jacob Kiplimo.
Tang Jian, chief technology officer for the robotics innovation center, said Tiangong Ul-
tra's performance was aided by long legs and an algorithm allowing it to imitate how humans
run a marathon."I don't want to boast but I think no other robotics firms in the West have
matched Tiangong's sporting achievements,"Tang said, according to the Reuters news agen-
cy,adding that the robot switched batteries just three times during the race.
The 1.8-meter robot came across a few challenges during the race, which involved multi-
ple battery changes. It also needed a helper to run alongside it with his hands hovering around
its back,in case of a fall. Most of the robots required this kind of support, with a few tied to
a leash. Some were led by a remote control.Amateur human contestants running in the other
lane had no difficulty keeping up,with the curious among them taking out their phones to
capture the robotic encounters as they raced along.
32.What's the probable meaning of the underlined word "replenish"in Paragraph 2?
A.Reform.
B.Return.
C.Refill.
D.Repeat.
33.What can we know about Tiangong Ultra according to Tang's words?
A.It ran faster than humans.
B.It ran without any assistance.
C.It didn't need a battery to run.
D.It ran with fewer battery changes.
34.Why do robots fail to work without human assistance during the race?
A.They needed to be repaired.
B.They needed to compete with humans.
C.They still couldn't fully control the balance.
D.They couldn't do anything without their designers.
35.In which kind of publication is this passage most probably featured?
A.A local daily newspaper focusing on community sports events.
B.A competition guide introducing rules of robot-human races.
C.A popular science magazine covering latest tech breakthroughs
D.A sports blog analyzing human marathoners'competitive strategies.

Sleep isn't just about closing your eyes-it's a mental skill waiting to be trained.Your
brain holds the key to breaking restless cycles, and with small, intentional habits, you can re-
wire it to drift into deeper, more relaxing rest night after night.36
Make a schedule, and stick to it.Melatonin(褪黑激素)is produced by the body to regu-
late when you get sleepy and when you wake up.As night approaches, levels of melatonin
rise, becoming a signal to the body that it's time for bed.37 Levels naturally fall as day-
light approaches, getting you ready to greet the day.
38 It's a golden rule in sleep medicine. The best sleep tip you can ever give somebody
is to get up-don't lay in bed awake but not sleeping.Whether it's the beginning of the night
or the middle of the night,if you've been awake for 20 or 30 minutes, get up and reset.May-
be you just need five minutes to get sleepy,or maybe an hour, but don't spend that time a-
wake in bed.39 Because lying in bed awake can form an association in your brain that can
lead to chronic insomnia(慢性失眠).Instead of being a restful spot where you peacefully fall
asleep, your bed becomes an anxious place where you toss and turn and wake up tired.
Change your attitude about sleep. Many people view sleeping as the final thing they have to
do in a jam-packed day, worth delaying to catch up on housework, schoolwork, office work
or the latest binge-worthy television series.40 Don't see your sleep as the amount of time
you have left in your day.Instead, see your sleep as the amount of time you need in order to
set yourself up for a productive tomorrow. It may sound like a small shift in thinking, but
it's an important one. Most adults need between seven and eight hours of sleep to be fully res-
ted.So if a person needed to rise at 7 am each day, backtiming eight hours would require a
bedtime of 11 pm.
A.Don't lay in bed awake.
B.Why is that so important?
C.It makes the next day more stressful.
D.In fact, that thinking needs to be changed.
E.Production of melatonin is stopped by light.
F.Here're several tips from some health experts.
G.The problem is that we don't stop, and we don't disconnect.

第二节(满分25分)】
The argument had left the living room's air thick enough to slice with a knife.Lily's
bedroom door slammed shut with a hollow bang, the sound reverberating through the quiet
house like a punctuation mark.Through the wood, she could hear her mother's ragged
breaths-each one a weight pressing on Lily's chest.
It had ignited over a crumpled math test, its red "68"scrawled like an accusation."You'
re throwing away chances,"Mom had said, her voice tight with frustration as she tapped the
paper."Scholarships don't care about doodles,Lily!"Lily had shot to her feet,knocking o-
ver the glass of lemonade on her desk."They matter to me!"she'd yelled, gesturing to the
sketches taped to her walls-watercolor sunsets,a stray cat from the neighborhood, even a
half-finished portrait of Mom with flour in her hair, from that morning's pancake disaster.
“Why can't you see that??”
Now,as Lily buried her face in her pillow, the silence felt louder than their shouts. She
traced the edge of her sketchbook, where she'd glued a photo of Mom from her art show last
year-Mom had worn that blue scarf Lily loved, and clapped so hard, her cheeks turned
pink. Why did that feel like a different life?
Downstairs,Mom stared at the cooling spaghetti on the stove. She'd meant to be encour-
aging, but the words had come out all wrong, sharp and jagged like broken glass. Her hand
drifted to the bookshelf,where a tattered notebook sat-Lily's third-grade journal.She
flipped to a dog-eared page:"My mom is the best artist ever. She can turn macaroni into rain-
bows."A tear splashed onto the paper, smudging the crayon scribbles.
Upstairs,Lily's anger dissolved into something softer,heavier-guilt.She remembered
mom staying up until 2 a.m.last week, helping her fix a watercolor painting mess with salt,
and how mom had saved up for three months to buy her that fancy charcoal set.Quietly, she
tiptoed to the door and peeked through the crack.
"Mom?"Her voice came out smaller than she intended.
Paragraph 1:
Mom looked up,eyes glistening with tears.
Paragraph 2:
Later, they spread the math test across the kitchen table.
