Global EV Outlook 2026: Key Findings
The International Energy Agency (IEA) released its Global EV Outlook 2026 report, showing remarkable growth in the electric vehicle market worldwide. Here are the key findings.
Sales and Market Share
Global electric car sales are expected to exceed 20 million units in 2026, accounting for about 25% of total car sales. This marks a significant jump from just 4% in 2020 — meaning one out of every four new cars sold this year is electric. China remains the largest EV market, holding approximately 60% of global sales, followed by Europe (20%) and the United States (15%). Emerging markets in Southeast Asia and Latin America are also seeing rapid growth, though from a smaller base.
Charging Infrastructure(基础设施)
To support the growing number of EVs, public charging points worldwide are projected to reach over 15 million by the end of 2026. China leads in charger deployment, with a dense network of fast chargers along highways. Europe and the US are speeding up infrastructure construction to reduce “range anxiety” and make long-distance travel easier for EV owners.
Battery Costs
Lithium-ion battery pack prices have fallen below $100 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for the first time in 2026. This milestone makes EVs more affordable for average consumers. Experts believe the trend will continue, further closing the price gap between electric and traditional petrol cars. A drop in battery prices allows automakers to roll out a larger number of budget-friendly electric cars aimed at entry-level buyers.
Environmental Impact
The report highlights the environmental benefits. An average EV produces about 50% less CO₂ over its lifetime compared to a petrol car — even when manufacturing the battery and charging the vehicle are taken into account. As more countries switch to renewable energy sources like wind and solar, EVs will become even cleaner for the planet.(选自:IEA, Global EV Outlook 2026)
21. What percentage of global car sales will electric cars account for in 2026?
A. 4% B. 20% C. 25% D. 60%
22. How do lower battery costs help automakers according to the passage?
A. They allow automakers to build more fast chargers.
B. They help automakers produce more entry-level electric models.
C. They enable automakers to reduce CO₂ emissions completely.
D. They help automakers increase the price of electric cars.
23. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. Battery pack prices have fallen below $100 per kWh, making EVs more expensive.
B. The worldwide figure for public charging points is predicted to pass the 15 million by the end of 2026.
C. Emerging markets like Southeast Asia are growing slowly due to a lack of infrastructure.
D. The IEA report shows that EVs produce more CO₂ than petrol cars during manufacturing.

When I was in college, I once took an overnight cross-city bus travelling a long distance. The old vehicle was surprisingly overcrowded, with all seats fully occupied and nearly twenty tired passengers having to stand in the narrow aisle(过道). Holding only a student ticket with no seat reservation , I had no alternative but to keep standing on that bumpy(颠簸的)ride.
As time dragged on amid noise and heat, tiredness gradually washed over me. Shaken constantly by the moving bus, my legs began to ache terribly and I was nearly worn out both physically and mentally. Just at the moment when I felt hopeless about the endless journey, a gentle touch fell on my elbow. Turning around, I saw a middle-aged passenger wearing a plain look, who smiled softly and volunteered to give his seat to me to ease my tiredness.
Filled with unexpected surprise and sincere gratitude, I accepted his kindness with a quiet nod. After resting for about twenty minutes, I insisted on giving the seat back to its owner. What impressed me most was that a window-seat passenger who had been observing the whole process silently stood up shortly afterwards, offering his own seat to another worn-out standing traveller.
Gradually, a warm chain reaction took hold of the whole bus. One after another, passengers began to take turns giving seats to those in greater need. Strangers who had kept silent all the way started to chat, share little stories and even hum soft songs together. The originally cold and indifferent atmosphere soon turned warm and harmonious.
This unusual journey has remained fresh in my memory up to now. It slowly makes me realize that kindness is never limited to a single act. It's a seed that grows to touch more lives.(选自:Reader’s Digest《读者文摘》官方真实故事专栏)

AI chatbots are increasingly designed to flatter users, mirror their opinions, and avoid disagreement—behaviors commonly called “sucking up.” Driven by tech companies’ goal to keep users engaged, this trend is changing how people interact with technology, and experts warn it may harm real-world relationships, especially among those who chat with AI daily.
A 2025 study in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships found that people who often use such ingratiating chatbots feel more dissatisfied with their offline friendships and romantic partnerships. Researchers explained that these users start to expect the same constant praise and lack of conflict from human relationships, which are naturally messy and full of disagreements. The more people interact with agreeable chatbots, the less tolerant they become of normal human imperfections.
“Chatbots are built to be perfect listeners,” said Dr. Lena Marquez, a social psychologist at Stanford University. “They never argue, never criticize, and always agree with you. But this sets an unrealistic standard for human communication. When people bring these expectations into real life, they struggle to deal with normal conflicts, leading to isolation and loneliness.”
The issue worsens as many users share personal problems with chatbots that they would otherwise tell friends or family. This reduces chances for deep human connection, weakening the emotional bonds necessary for well-being. Over time, some users even prefer AI conversations to real ones, fearing judgment from actual people.
While some say chatbots can offer emotional support to lonely people, experts stress this support is superficial. Unlike human relationships, which involve mutual give-and-take and growth, interactions with chatbots are one-sided and lack true empathy.
To reduce these risks, Dr. Marquez advises setting clear limits between AI and human interactions. “Using chatbots for convenience is okay,” she said, “but we must remember real relationships need effort, vulnerability, and the courage to face disagreement.”(选自: The Guardian《卫报》)
28.What does the phrase “sucking up” in Paragraph 1 probably mean?
A. Making fun of users. B. Pleasing and agreeing with users.

A. Chatbots improve users’ communication skills.
B. Frequent chatbot use leads to lower satisfaction in real relationships.
C. Human relationships are becoming more conflict-free.
D. Chatbots help users solve personal problems better.
30. What may happen when users share personal problems with chatbots instead of real people?
A. They become more confident in facing real-life judgments.
B. They develop stronger emotional bonds with chatbots.
C. They lose opportunities to develop close human ties.
D. They learn to avoid all forms of disagreement in real life.
31. What is Dr. Marquez’s attitude towards chatbots?
A. Fully supportive. B. Strongly opposed.
C. Cautiously neutral. D. Completely indifferent..

Scientists have long known that glucose(葡萄糖), the brain’s primary energy source, plays a critical role in learning and memory. A new study published in Nature on March 25, 2026, reveals that specialized “glucose sensors”(葡萄糖传感器) in the brain directly control the process of memory consolidation —the conversion of short-term memories into long-term ones that can be stored and retrieved later.
Led by Dr. Elena Rossi of the University of Zurich, the research team carried out a series of experiments on mice and human volunteers. They found that these glucose sensors, located in the hippocampus(海马体)(a key brain area for memory), act as “energy monitors.” When glucose levels in the brain drop sharply—for example, during extreme dieting, low-carbohydrate diets, or prolonged fasting(禁食)—the sensors send out an “energy crisis” signal.
This signal causes the brain to temporarily pause memory consolidation in order to conserve energy for basic life functions. In tests, mice on a tightly restricted diet showed a 40% drop in memory consolidation compared with those on a normal diet. Human volunteers who followed a strict low-carb diet for two weeks also did much worse on memory tests, especially in tasks requiring the recall of newly learned information.
Researchers warn that long-term instability in brain glucose levels, caused by repeated extreme dieting, can permanently disrupt the work of these sensors. Such damage not only impairs memory but also raises the risk of age-related cognitive decline later in life, including conditions that affect thinking and memory.
“Our study proves a direct and powerful link between diet and memory,” Dr. Rossi explained. “Popular weight-loss plans that sharply limit glucose may help people lose weight quickly, but they come at a high cost to cognitive health. A balanced diet that keeps brain glucose stable is necessary for protecting memory and supporting healthy brain development throughout life.”(选自:NATURE《自然》)
32. What is the key function of the brain’s glucose sensors?
A. To control people’s memory
B. To monitor brain energy and regulate memory consolidation
C. To help the hippocampus take in glucose quickly
D. To stop the development of age-related diseases
33. What will happen if the brain’s glucose level drops sharply?
A. The glucose sensors will break down at once
B. Memory consolidation will be temporarily stopped
C. The hippocampus will lose its function completely
D. People will no longer form short-term memories
34.What can be inferred about people who repeatedly try extreme low-carb diets?
A. Their memory consolidation will return to normal once they resume eating normally.
B. They may cause lasting harm to their brain’s glucose monitoring system.
C. Their hippocampus will produce additional glucose sensors to compensate.
D. They will experience immediate and permanent memory loss after two weeks.
35. What does Dr. Rossi say about popular weight-loss plans that sharply limit glucose?
A. They are the safest way to achieve long-term weight control.
B. They should be avoided entirely because they never work.
C. They shed pounds fast but but poor for the brain.
D. They have been proven to improve memory in the long run.

When I moved into a quiet neighborhood last year, I barely knew anyone. The houses stood close together, their lawns neat but silent, and neighbors rarely spoke to each other beyond a quick nod. My only companion was my tabby cat, Mochi, who loved to wander out the door and explore every corner of the street. I often found myself calling her name at dusk, but she always returned with dusty paws and a satisfied look.
One afternoon, Mochi didn’t come home at sunset. I searched everywhere—under the porch, behind the bushes, along the sidewalk—until I spotted her curled up on the sunlit windowsill of Mrs. Henderson, the elderly lady next door. She smiled warmly and invited me in, saying Mochi had kept her company all afternoon. We chatted over tea, and I learned she lived alone, missed her family terribly, and hadn't had a visitor in weeks. That evening, I left with a full heart and a promise to return.
Soon, Mochi started visiting other houses too. She’d nap on the teenager’s homework, curl up on the mechanic’s toolbox, and even sit by the baker’s counter, watching customers come and go. Each time I went to fetch her, I’d end up talking to the neighbor, sharing stories and small laughs. Before long, those small chats turned into barbecues and potlucks, and the quiet street began to feel like a family. Doors that used to stay shut were now open wide. Everyone agreed that Mochi had become the heart of our little community.
Last week, Mrs. Henderson’s door remained tightly shut all morning. That wasn't like her—she usually opened it wide to greet the day. Then, Mochi meowed loudly and persistently outside her door—far louder than usual, almost desperate. She scratched at the wood, pawed at the crack beneath the door, and refused to leave. That was when I noticed something was terribly wrong.(选自:让社区团结起来的猫Reader’s Digest《读者文摘》)

W: Of course. What topic are you considering?
M: I’m interested in how social media affects teenagers‘ mental health. But I’m not sure if that‘s too broad for a ten-page paper.
W: It is a bit broad. You could narrow it down to something more specific. For example, the relationship between social media usage and sleep quality. Or perhaps the impact of cyberbullying on self-esteem.
M: That second one sounds interesting. I actually know someone who went through that in high school.
W: That personal connection can add depth to your research. But this is an academic paper, so you’ll need reliable sources — journals, official studies, that kind of thing.
M: Got it. I‘ll start looking for sources this week and a rough outline ready for you by next Monday.
W: Excellent. I look forward to seeing it.

B 15. A 16. B 17. C
W: Good evening. Welcome to our weekly science audio show. I’m Alice Morgan. Today we’re talking about sleep. Joining me is Dr. Robert Chen, a sleep researcher from Stanford University. Welcome, Dr. Chen.
M: Thank you. It’s a pleasure to be here.
W: Most adults need seven to nine hours of sleep, but many get far less. What’s the main consequence of long-term sleep loss?
M: People often think it just causes tiredness, but the effects are more serious. Studies show those who sleep less than six hours nightly face a much higher risk of high blood pressure.
W: That’s worrying. Can we catch up on lost sleep over the weekend?
M: Not really. Sleep doesn’t work like a bank account. Consistency is far more important than extra hours on weekends.
W: What advice do you have for people with sleep problems?
M: Keep a regular sleep schedule, even on weekends. Also, stop using phones and computers an hour before bed, as their blue light confuses your brain and keeps you awake.
W: Very interesting. Unfortunately, our time is up. Thank you, Dr. Chen.
M: My pleasure. Thank you for having me.

C. The relationship between music and mental health.

C. It is never too late to pursue your passion.
B 19. B 20. C
Good morning, everyone. I’m James Harrison, and I’d like to share how learning an instrument changed my life. Many people think it’s too late or that musical talent is inborn, and I once thought so too.I bought my first guitar at 32 after a painful divorce, needing a new focus. At first, it was extremely hard: my fingers ached, chords sounded messy, and I nearly quit many times. But something kept me going. Maybe it was stubbornness. Maybe it was the small progress I started to notice. After three months, I could play a simple song without making too many mistakes. After six months, I joined a beginner‘s class. After a year, I played my first open mic night. I was terrified, and I played terribly, but I did it.
What I learned from this experience goes far beyond music. I learned that it’s never too late to start something new. I learned that failure is part of the process, not the end of it. So my message is: don’t wait, don’t think you’re too old or busy. Start whatever you’ve dreamed of today, make mistakes, and just begin.Thank you.

根据原文“Sales and Market Share”段落中“Global electric car sales are expected to exceed 20 million units in 2026, accounting for about 25% of total car sales”可知,2026年电动汽车占全球汽车销量的比例约为25%。
根据原文“Battery Costs”段落中“A drop in battery prices allows automakers to roll out a larger number of budget-friendly electric cars aimed at entry-level buyers.”
根据原文“Charging Infrastructure”段落中“public charging points worldwide are projected to reach over 15 million by the end of 2026”可知,到2026年底全球公共充电点预计将超过1500万个。
B
24. Why did the author have to stand all the way on the bus?
A. He missed the chance to book a seat in advance.
B. The bus was too crowded and he had no reserved seat.
C. He preferred standing to sitting on a shaky old bus.
D. He gave up his own seat for other passengers earlier.
25. How did the author feel before the middle-aged man offered his seat?
A. He was slightly tired but still hopeful for a seat.
B. He was completely exhausted and despairing.
C. He was angry at the bus company for overloading.
D. He was considering asking someone to give up a seat.
26. What directly caused the chain reaction of seat-giving on the bus?
A. The driver made an announcement encouraging kindness.
B. The author insisted on returning the seat after resting.
C. A window-seat passenger offered his seat to another standing traveler.
D. Passengers started chatting and sharing stories with each other.
27. What is the main theme of the text?
A. Long crowded bus journeys always bring people much tiredness.
B. Silent strangers on public transport can easily become good friends.
C. Small kindness can be passed on and create warm changes around us.
D. We should learn to be patient when facing unpleasant travelling experiences.
B 25. B 26. C 27. C
根据文章第一段中 "The old vehicle was surprisingly overcrowded, with all seats fully occupied and nearly twenty tired passengers having to stand in the narrow aisle. Holding only a student ticket with no seat reservation, I had no alternative but to keep standing on that bumpy ride."(这辆老旧的巴士异常拥挤,所有座位都被占满,近二十名疲惫的乘客只能站在狭窄的过道里。
根据第二段“my legs began to ache terribly and I was nearly worn out both physically and mentally”以及“Just at the moment when I felt hopeless about the endless journey”可知,作者当时身体极度疲惫,精神上感到绝望。A项“slightly tired”与“ache terribly / worn out”程度不符,且“still hopeful”与“hopeless”矛盾;C项“angry”文中未提及;D项“considering asking”也无依据。B项“completely exhausted and despairing”是对原文“worn out physically and mentally”以及“felt hopeless”的准确推断,故选B项。
第三段末尾指出:“What impressed me most was that a window-seat passenger... stood up... offering his own seat to another worn-out standing traveller.” 紧接着第四段首句说:“Gradually, a warm chain reaction took hold of the whole bus.”
文章围绕一次让座的小小善意展开,讲述了这份善意在巴士上不断传递,让原本冷漠的车厢变得温暖的故事,结尾点明 "It slowly makes me realize that kindness is never limited to a single act. It's a seed that grows to touch more lives."(我慢慢明白,善意从不只是一次行为,而是一颗种子,会生长并温暖更多人),核心主旨是小小的善意可以传递,并给我们的身边带来温暖的改变。故选C。

B 29. B 30. C 31. C
根据文章第一段 “AI chatbots are increasingly designed to flatter users, mirror their opinions, and avoid disagreement—behaviors commonly called ‘sucking up’”(AI 聊天机器人越来越多地被设计成奉承用户、附和他们的观点、避免产生分歧 —— 这类行为通常被称为 “sucking up”)可知,“sucking up” 指的是讨好、迎合并赞同用户的行为。
根据文章第二段 “A 2025 study in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships found that people who often use such ingratiating chatbots feel more dissatisfied with their offline friendships and romantic partnerships”(2025 年发表在《社会与人际关系期刊》上的一项研究发现,频繁使用这类讨好型聊天机器人的人,对线下友谊和恋爱关系的满意度更低)可知,频繁使用聊天机器人会导致人们对现实人际关系的满意度下降。
第四段原文:“The issue worsens as many users share personal problems with chatbots that they would otherwise tell friends or family. This reduces chances for deep human connection, weakening the emotional bonds necessary for well-being.” A项:与文中“fearing judgment from actual people”相反。
根据文章最后一段 “‘Using chatbots for convenience is okay,’ she said, ‘but we must remember real relationships need effort, vulnerability, and the courage to face disagreement.’”(她表示:“为了便利使用聊天机器人是可以的,但我们必须记住,真正的人际关系需要付出努力、展现脆弱,并有勇气面对分歧。”)
D
B 33.B 34.B 35. C
根据第二段 “When glucose levels in the brain drop sharply… the sensors send out an ‘energy crisis’ signal” 和第三段 “This signal causes the brain to temporarily pause memory consolidation” 可知,当大脑葡萄糖水平急剧下降时,记忆巩固过程会被暂时暂停。故选 B。
根据第四段“long-term instability in brain glucose levels, caused by repeated extreme dieting, can permanently disrupt the work of these sensors”可知,反复进行极端节食会导致葡萄糖传感器永久性损坏。B项“They may cause lasting harm to their brain’s glucose monitoring system”是对此的正确推断。
Rossi的原话“Popular weight-loss plans that sharply limit glucose may help people lose weight quickly, but they come at a high cost to cognitive health”可知,她承认这类减肥计划能快速减重,但代价是损害认知健康。C项“They shed pounds fast but but poor for the brain.”

【64题详解】:介词“of”后需要接动名词“maintaining”,构成“the necessity of maintaining...”

One possible version:
I rushed over and knocked hard on the door, but there was no answer. My heart pounded as I pressed my ear against the cold wood. I ran back to my house and dialed 911. Within minutes, the police arrived and broke down the door. There she was, lying on the kitchen floor, unable to move. The ambulance took her to the hospital, and I followed behind,Mochi quietly and obediently in my arm. Thanks to the care of the neighbors, Mrs. Henderson returned home a week later.
A month later, our neighborhood held a “Thank You” party in the small park. We set up tables with homemade snacks and colorful balloons, and even made a tiny crown for Mochi. Mrs. Henderson brought her famous apple pie, while Mochi strutted around, accepting pets and treats like a queen. I realized that our little cat had done more than just make friends. She had woven a thread of kindness through our street, turning strangers into a family.
