As the fifth most widely translated children’s literature in history, Pippi Longstocking has reached young readers in over 40 languages across the globe. It’s a fun story about a naughty girl named Pippi. Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren created this timeless character in 1945, and this year marked its remarkable 80th birthday!
The book was on my reading list when I was in primary school in Poland. It was quite a thick book. But once I started, I couldn’t put it down, even reading under my blanket (毯子) with a flashlight past bedtime.
Pippi lives alone in a house called Villa Villekulla. To me, she is a great example of strength and independence. In a world full of rules, Pippi always has the courage to be odd. She doesn’t follow any rules, she doesn’t go to school, and she lives with a horse and a monkey. She cooks, cleans and manages her money. She is so strong that she can even lift her own horse!
In one chapter, Pippi’s friends, Tommy and Annika, ask her to try going to school for a day. It doesn’t go well. Pippi doesn’t know how to do basic maths, and when it is time to draw, she makes a huge picture of her horse on the floor because a piece of paper isn’t big enough.
Even though Pippi is a bit crazy and very different, I still like how Tommy and Annika accept her. They want to join her on her adventures. They show that true friendship grows from respect and shared joy. The book is also a call to accept your differences. For anyone feeling worried about being themselves, Pippi’s world reminds us that creativity and kindness matter more than fitting in (合群).
28. What does the first paragraph show us about Pippi Longstocking?
A. It has a history of over 100 years.
B. It has been popular since it was created.
C. It has reached readers in about 40 countries.
D. It has gained popularity all around the world.
29. What does the underlined word “odd” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. Smart and brave. B. Polite and helpful.
C. Thoughtful and kind. D. Strange and different.
30. How does the writer show Pippi’s differences?
A. By quoting her words in the book.
B. By sharing her experience at school.
C. By showing others’ comments on her.
D. By describing Pippi’s feelings at school.
31. How does the writer comment on Tommy and Annika’s friendship with Pippi?
A. They help her change her strange behaviour.
B. They show Pippi the importance of fitting in.
C. They respect differences and share happiness.
D. They think twice before joining her adventures.
32. What might be the writer’s advice for readers?
A. Being patient to wait for surprises.
B. Being yourself and respecting others.
C. Showing your differences to win popularity.
D. Discovering common interests to make friends.

In December 2024, the heart of Paris began to beat again. Notre Dame Cathedral (巴黎圣母院), one of the most popular landmarks in the world, reopened to the public after five years of careful restoration (修复).
Following the fire in April 2019, which badly destroyed the building, the cathedral was left a shadow of its former self. Now, it has risen again, reborn in stone, wood, and spirit.
The restoration was an amazing effort. More than 1,000 craftspeople, engineers, and historians from across France came together to restore the cathedral. They used traditional methods from the Middle Ages. Two thousand oak trees were chosen from certain forests to rebuild the roof. Each was shaped and set to match the original design. The roof that collapsed (倒塌) in 2019 was itself a 19th century copy, and historical drawings and modern 3D scans were used to design the copy.
Philippe Jost, head of the public agency Rebuilding Notre Dame Cathedral, said, “Although it’s not the largest cathedral in France, it had a major influence on how others were built. We chose to rebuild it exactly as it was because the original design has stood the test of time. ”
To understand Notre Dame Cathedral is to understand Paris itself. As with much in the city, it has experienced layers of history—revolution, restoration and renewal. It connects generations, linking medieval (中世纪的) times with modern times. Even the smallest features of Notre Dame Cathedral tell stories. The bells are sounded only at major events. The Gallery of Kings reminds visitors of the cathedral’s important role in national identity.
Notre Dame Cathedral’s importance is more than architectural (建筑学的). It has become a common part of Parisian life—a space for reflection, celebration and unity. For many, returning to Notre Dame Cathedral is not just a tourist experience but a homecoming.
33. How does the writer start the passage?
A. By raising a doubt. B. By recalling a disaster.
C. By sharing a piece of news. D. By introducing a famous country.
34. What can we learn from Paragraph 3?
A. The public took little part in restoring Notre Dame Cathedral.
B. The restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral didn’t seem so difficult.
C. Some old improper designs were changed during the restoration.
D. Notre Dame Cathedral was restored strictly based on the old building.
35. What can we learn about Notre Dame Cathedral from Philippe Jost’s words?
A. Its first design was of great value.
B. It is the oldest cathedral in Paris.
C. It was affected by other buildings.
D. It would cost more to build a new cathedral.
36. What does the underlined sentence in Paragraph 5 mean?
A. Notre Dame Cathedral was built by Parisians.
B. Notre Dame Cathedral recorded many events of Paris.
C. Notre Dame Cathedral is the most famous site in Paris.
D. Notre Dame Cathedral is the only building telling stories of France.
37. Why does the writer say visiting Notre Dame Cathedral is a home-coming?
A. Parisians are closely connected with Notre Dame Cathedral.
B. Notre Dame Cathedral is important because of its many uses.
C. Notre Dame Cathedral saved many homeless people in history.
D. Visitors feel at home when visiting Notre Dame Cathedral.

Do you often eat candies and desserts? Are you crazy about cola and milk tea? These snacks and drinks are delicious, but they have a lot of sugar. Eating too much sugar causes health problems like diabetes(糖尿病) or heart disease.
Besides sweet food and drinks, there is hidden sugar in everyday food. For example, there is a lot of sugar in bread and yogurt. It is hard for us to avoid sugar, but do we have to stay away from it completely? That’s impossible and unnecessary. After all, sugar provides us with the energy we need. What we must do is to control the sugar intake.
Here are some possible ways to help you. First, get to know how much sugar we need a day. The World Health Organization(WHO) suggests people should take 25 grams of sugar or less every day. Then, check the ingredient list and buy food with the lowest sugar. What’s more, pay attention to our blood sugar levels(血糖水平). Jessie Inchauspe, a French bestselling writer, shares some of her ideas on balancing our blood sugar levels.
·Eat foods in the right order. Eat your vegetables first, followed by eggs and meat, then rice or bread.
·Eat vegetables before each meal. It is better to have a hot or cold green salad.
·Reach for vinegar(醋) before you eat. This is having a teaspoon of vinegar in a glass of water before meals.
·Move after you eat, within 70 minutes. It could be going for a 10-minute walk, doing a short workout, doing some housework.
By now, you’ve already learned how to improve sugar intake patterns. However, what we do is more important than what we say. Small steps can add up. Let’s begin to make changes on our own.
38. Why did the writer raise questions in the beginning?
A. To find the most popular snacks.
B. To learn about people’s eating habits.
C. To doubt the results of some sugar studies.
D. To introduce his talk about sugar and health.
39. Which opinion does the writer support according to Paragraph 2?
A. There is hidden sugar in all food, so it’s hard for us to avoid it.
B. Hidden sugar is the main reason for failing to control sugar intake.
C. It is hard to completely avoid sugar, so there is no need to avoid it.
D. It’s necessary to control sugar intake, although we need energy from it.
40. Which of the following is NOT mentioned as a way to control sugar intake?
A. Learning the daily sugar limit. B. Choosing foods with no added sugar.
C. Checking blood sugar levels regularly. D. Checking ingredient lists before buying.
41. What does Jessie Inchauspe advise us to do?
A. To control our sugar intake in small steps.
B. To have eggs and meat between vegetables and rice.
C. To walk for over seventy minutes after we have meals.
D. To add food without hidden sugar to our shopping lists.
42. What is the passage mainly about?
A. Researchers’ different opinions about sugar intake.
B. WHO’s guidelines on controlling blood sugar levels.
C. Dangers of high sugar and ways to reduce sugar intake.
D. The relationships between people’s diets and their health.

【答案】28. D 29. D 30. B 31. C 32. B

A. Learning the daily sugar limit. B. Choosing foods with no added sugar.
C. Checking blood sugar levels regularly. D. Checking ingredient lists before buying.

【答案】范文:
Dear friends,
I am Li Hua, a member of the English Club. I’m excited to be here to introduce our school’s “Green Campus”.
Our school has made great efforts to become more eco-friendly. For example, we have separate bins for paper, plastic as well as food waste to encourage recycling. Solar panels on the rooftops provide clean energy for our classrooms, and motion-sensor lights help save electricity. Last year, students and teachers planted over 200 trees around the campus. What’s more, we organize regular “No Car Day” events to promote low-carbon transportation.
Thank you for listening.
