一、重点句型回顾

1. Great changes have taken place in... ……发生了巨大的变化

该句型用于描述某地发生了巨大变化，常用现在完成时。take place表示“发生”，不用于被动语态。

• Great changes have taken place in my hometown in the past ten years.

• Great changes have taken place in our school since I came here.

 

2. There used to be... 过去有……

used to表示“过去常常”，用于描述过去存在但现在已经改变的情况。

• There used to be a small river near my house.

• There used to be few cars in the street，but now there are many.

 

3. ... has/have been done (现在完成时的被动语态)

现在完成时的被动语态结构：have/has + been + 过去分词。

• The environment has been greatly improved.

• Many new roads have been built in the past few years.

 

4. ... is/are done (一般现在时被动语态)

一般现在时被动语态用于描述客观事实或经常性动作。

• The streets are cleaned every day.

• Rice is grown in the south of China.

 

5. It is + adj + that... ……是怎样的

it作形式主语，真正的主语是that从句。常用于表达对某事物的看法。

• It is clear that great changes have taken place.

• It is important that we protect the environment.

The Development of China's High-Speed Railway

 

China's high-speed railway has developed rapidly in recent years. It is now one of the most important means of transport in the country. The first high-speed railway in China，the Beijing-Tianjin line，was built in 2008. Since then，more and more high-speed railways have been built across the country.

 

Before the high-speed railway was built，people used to travel by ordinary train. The journey from Beijing to Shanghai used to take more than ten hours. Now，it only takes about four and a half hours by high-speed train. This has made travelling much faster and more convenient.

 

The high-speed railway has not only changed the way people travel but also brought great benefits to the economy. Many cities have been connected by high-speed rail，which has helped businesses grow and tourism develop. New stations have been built，and old ones have been improved.

 

However，some challenges still remain. The construction of high-speed railways requires a lot of money and advanced technology. The government must continue to support the development of the railway system to make it even better. As a matter of fact，China's high-speed railway has become a symbol of the country's progress and is admired by people around the world.
