②Born in 1990 in Hebei Province, Wang grew up in a strict but loving family. Her mother was a teacher, and her father worked as a policeman. When you first hear about the Dead Sea, it might sound scary, but the truth is quite different. Let’s get closer to the Dead Sea and learn more about it.
The Dead Sea is located in southwest Asia. It is about 50 kilometers long and 15 kilometers wide. It sits at about 430 meters below sea level, making it the lowest lake on Earth’s land.
What’s interesting is that the Dead Sea isn’t actually a sea. It’s a lake with a salt concentration (含盐度) of more than 30%, which is about eight times saltier than common seawater. This makes it one of the saltiest bodies of water on Earth. The Dead Sea stays so salty because of its special natural conditions. Each year, it receives very little rainfall, and only a small amount of fresh water runs into it. And the hot weather around the Dead Sea causes the fresh water to evaporate (蒸发) quickly, which makes the salt concentration even higher. For these reasons, it is also known as the Salt Sea.
If you were to swim in the Dead Sea, you wouldn’t see any sea life-- no plants or animals. The high salt concentration makes it impossible for them to live there. That’s actually why it’s called the Dead Sea.
However, don’t let the name of not having any sea life scare you. Even if you fall into the Dead Sea and can’t swim, you won’t die. The high concentration of salt in the Dead Sea allows anyone to float well, without the need for life buoys (救生圈). In fact, many people visit the Dead Sea every year on vacation. If you walk along the lakeside, you’ll likely see many people floating in the water, reading books or magazines.
( )42.What do we know about the Dead Sea?
A.It is the largest place in Asia. B.It is the widest sea in the world.
C.It is the deepest point in America. D.It is the lowest place on Earth’s land.
( )43.Why do people call it the Dead Sea?
A.It is a lake with very high salt concentration.
B.No fresh water runs into it and water evaporates fast.
C.It is not very safe for people to swim in it.
D.No sea animals can stay alive in its water.
( )44.What does the underlined word “float” in the last paragraph probably mean?
A.下沉 B.漂浮 C.潜水 D.游泳
( )45.What is the main idea of the text?
A.It shares some interesting facts about the Dead Sea.
B.It explains why people enjoy visiting the Dead Sea.
C.It gives advice on safe swimming in the Dead Sea.
D.It encourages people to take a trip to the Dead Sea.

Teamwork is very important in our lives. Whether it’s in a sports team, a school project, or a workplace, working together can bring many benefits.
In a sports team, teamwork is the key to winning games. Each player has their own role, and they need to cooperate with each other. For example, in a basketball game, the guards need to pass the ball to the forwards and centers. The players need to support and encourage each other on the court. If everyone only thinks about themselves and doesn’t work as a team, it’s very difficult to win.
In a school project, teamwork can make the work easier and more efficient (有效率的). Students can divide the tasks according to their abilities. Some can do research, some can write the report, and others can make the presentation. By working together, they can learn from each other and complete the project better.
In a workplace, teamwork is also important. Different departments need to cooperate to achieve the company’s goals. For example, the marketing department (市场部) needs to work with the production department (产品部) to develop new products. Teamwork can improve work efficiency and create a better working environment.
In conclusion, teamwork is the cornerstone of success. It makes hard jobs easier and helps us learn from others. Together, we can achieve far more than we ever could.

【答案】42.D 43.D 44.B 45.A
【导语】本文主要介绍了死海的相关情况,包括它的地理位置、特点、含盐度高的原因、被称为死海的缘由以及人们在死海中可以漂浮的特点等有趣事实。
42.结合文章第二段“It sits at about 430 meters below sea level, making it the lowest lake on Earth’s land.”,死海位于海平面以下约430米,是地球上陆地上最低的湖泊。
43.结合文章第四段“If you were to swim in the Dead Sea, you wouldn’t see any sea life-- no plants or animals. The high salt concentration makes it impossible for them to live there. That’s actually why it’s called the Dead Sea.”,死海里没有任何海洋生物,高含盐度让它们无法在那里生存,这就是它被称为死海的原因。
44.结合后文“without the need for life buoys”和“many people floating in the water, reading books or magazines”,不需要救生圈,人们还能在水里看书看杂志,可推断“float”意为“漂浮”。
45.通读全文可知,文章围绕死海展开,介绍了它的地理位置、含盐度特点、被称为死海的原因以及人们能在其中漂浮等有趣事实。
