It’s common to ... We don’t usually ... because ...Invite several pairs to share. Step 5 Pre-listening (2a) (4 mins) Prediction Students read the sentences about Indian culture in 2a. Ask:What do you know about India? Which sentences do you think are true? Students choose their answers before listening. Step 6 While-listening (2b–2c) (5 mins) Listening for Main Information (2b) Students listen and number the pictures. Listening for Details (2c) Students listen again and complete the sentences. Highlight useful expressions: press their palms together; use their right hand; eat spicy curry; cows are special Step 7 Post-listening (2d) (5 mins) Pair Work Students imagine a friend visiting India and complete the conversation. Example: How do people in India greet others? They press their palms together and say “Namaste.” Encourage students to use information from 2a–2c.
