It was an enjoyable walk down the road and through the farm by the pond. They used to explore (探索) a new country like travellers and would drop leaves on the road so that they could find their way back again. When the ice was thick and firm, they walked across the pond. But their mother did not like to have them do this unless someone was with them. “Don’t go across the pond today, children,” she said as she kissed them and said goodbye to them one morning. “It is beginning to thaw (融化).” “All right, Mother,” said Harry, not very happily because he liked running and skating on the ice very much. When they came to the pond, the ice looked hard and safe. “There,” he said to his sister, “I know it hasn’t thawed yet. Mother is always afraid we will drown. Come along, and we will have a good time skating. The school bell will not ring in an hour at least.” So they stepped on the ice, and started to go across the pond. They had not gone far when the ice broke down, and they fell into the water. A man who was at work near the pond heard the shouts of the children and jumped into the water to save them. Harry managed to get out of the water without any help, but poor Annie was nearly dead before the man could reach her. Harry went home almost frozen and told his mother how disobedient (不听话的) he had been. “I’ve regretted it ever since!” Harry said to himself. And he would remember the lesson he learnt that day as long as he lived. 24. How did Harry and Annie go to school? A. By boat. B. By bus. C. On foot. D. On a horse. 25. Harry and Annie dropped leaves on the road because ________. A. they liked exploring a new country B. they didn’t want to get lost C. they just wanted to act like other travellers D. their mother told them to do so 26. What do we know about Harry from the passage? A. He was very young but brave. B. He was a clever boy. C. He was a careful teenager. D. He didn’t like to follow others’ advice. 27. What would happen the next morning according to the passage? A. Harry and Annie would walk across the pond. B. The mother couldn’t find the man who helped the children. C. Harry and Annie wouldn’t skate on the pond any more. D. The mother would not allow Harry and Annie to go to school. C 25. B 26. D 27. 【24题详解】 第一段指出“It was an enjoyable walk down the road and through the farm by the pond.”,Harry和Annie步行去上学。 【25题详解】 第一段指出“…would drop leaves on the road so that they could find their way back again.”,他们在路上撒树叶是为了找到回去的路,防止迷路。 【26题详解】 第三段指出“Harry, not very happily because he liked running and skating on the ice very much…Mother is always afraid we will drown. Come along, and we will have a good time skating.”,Harry没有听从妈妈的劝告,执意要在融化的冰面上滑冰,说明他不喜欢听从别人的建议。 【27题详解】 最后一段指出“And he would remember the lesson he learnt that day as long as he lived.”,Harry这次经历让他终身难忘,因此可以推断第二天他们再也不会在池塘的冰面上滑冰了。 C One of the greatest sources(根源) of unhappiness, in my experience, is the difficulty we have in accepting things as they are. When we see something we don’t like, we wish it could be different. We cry out for something better. That may be human nature, or perhaps it’s something ingrained(根深蒂固的) in our culture. The root of unhappiness isn’t necessarily that we want things to be different. However, it’s that we decided we didn’t like it in the first place. We’ve judged it as bad, rather than saying, “It’s not bad or good, and it just is it.” An example: In my recent post, A Beautiful Method to Find Peace of Mind, quite a few readers thought my attitude toward life was negative because I said you should expect people to mess up, expect things to go differently than you planned, and that you should accept that. They said it’s too negative to expect things to go wrong. However, it’s only negative if you see it as negative and judge it as bad. Instead, you could accept it as the way the world works as the way things actually are. And try to understand why that is. This can be applied to whatever you do: how other students act at school, how my friends treat me and how heavy the traffic is. If you accept these things as they are, and try to understand why they’re that way, it won’t cause you the feeling of grief, because you’ll no longer say, “Oh. I wish bad things wouldn’t happen!” Does it mean you can never change things? Not at all. But change things not because you can’t accept things as they are, but because you enjoy the process of changing, learning and growing. Can we make this world a better place? You can say that you’ll continue to try to do things to help others, to grow as a person, to make a difference in this world. That’s the correct path you choose to take, because you enjoy that path. Therefore, when you find yourself judging and wishing for differences, try a different way: accept, and understand. It might lead to some interesting results. 28. The writer believes that people feel unhappy because ________. A. unhappiness is a natural emotion in life B. everyone has their own opinions on things C. they dislike something in the very beginning D. people often have difficulties in judging things 29. The words “grief’ in Paragraph 4 probably mean “________”. A. worry B. joy C. pride D. fear 30. What can we learn from the passage? A. Accepting the facts might produce better results. B. Changing things is a process of learning to accept. C. The readers found the writer’s attitude very hopeful. D. Judging good or bad may help us understand things clearly. 31. What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage? A. To explain how unhappiness changes our lives. B. To introduce what we can do to avoid unhappiness. C. To encourage us to find the sources of unhappiness. D. To share the experiences of dealing with unhappiness. 【答案】28. C 29. A 30. A 31. C 【解析】 【导语】这篇短文主要讲述了不快乐的原因,以及我们如何处理不快乐。 【28题详解】 细节理解题。根据第一段“One of the greatest sources(根源) of unhappiness, in my experience, is the difficulty we have in accepting things as they are.”根据我的经验,不快乐的最大来源之一是我们难以接受事物的原样。可知,作者认为,人们感到不快乐是因为他们一开始就不喜欢某些东西。故选C。 【29题详解】 词义猜测题。根据第四段“If you accept these things as they are, and try to understand why they’re that way, it won’t cause you the feeling of grief, because you’ll no longer say, ‘Oh. I wish bad things wouldn’t happen!’”如果你接受这些事情的原样,并试着理解它们为什么会这样,那就不会让你感到grief,因为你不会再说:“哦,我希望糟糕的事情不会发生!”可知,grief表示的应是“悲伤,担心”的意思。故选A。 【30题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Therefore, when you find yourself judging and wishing for differences, try a different way: accept, and understand. It might lead to some interesting results.”因此,当你发现自己在评判和渴望差异时,尝试一种不同的方式:接受和理解。这可能会带来一些有趣的结果。可知,接受事实可能会带来好的结果。故选A。 【31题详解】 写作目的题。根据第一段“One of the greatest sources(根源) of unhappiness, in my experience, is the difficulty we have in accepting things as they are.”根据我的经验,不快乐的最大来源之一是我们难以接受事物的原样。以及最后一段“Therefore, when you find yourself judging and wishing for differences, try a different way: accept, and understand. It might lead to some interesting results.”因此,当你发现自己在评判和渴望差异时,尝试一种不同的方式:接受和理解。这可能会带来一些有趣的结果。结合全文内容, 可知作者是想鼓励我们找到不快乐的根源,去接受。故选C。 D ①Microplastics (微塑料) are one of the largest environmental problems we face. Most microplastics come from larger pieces of plastic as they break apart. They are really harmful to the environment as well as the health of animals and humans. ②However, it is really hard to clean up microplastics. They are small bits of plastic less than 5 mm long. Because of their size, they are difficult to clean up. This is especially true for microplastics in the ocean. Besides, they are nearly everywhere. They’ve been found in the ocean, on the top of mountains, in some of the food we eat and even in the stomachs of some ocean animals. ③What should we do with microplastics? ④The good news is that scientists at Sichuan University in southwestern China have made great progress in dealing with microplastics. ⑤A kind of small robotic fish has been invented to help deal with the microplastics in water. They are programmed to make their way through water collecting microplastics as they go. Though these swimmers are only 15 mm long, they can travel very quickly as they clean. Wang Yuyan, a member of Sichuan University’s research team, said the robotic fish could be controlled by light. As they swim along, any nearby microplastics get drawn towards them and stick to them. ⑥There is another special thing about the robotic fish. The ideas about their shape and the material they are made out of come from ocean life. The team use the material from the inside of shells (贝壳) to make their robotic fish. As well as attracting microplastics, the material can even heal (治愈) itself after being cut. ⑦Since the team has shown that their idea works, they are going to keep working on it. The scientists hope that their tiny fish-shaped robots will be able to help deal with this global problem. They hope in the future they can create new kinds of robotic fish that can work in deeper waters and collect more microplastics. 32. What can we learn about the robotic fish? A. They are tiny and swim slowly. B. They are controlled by electricity. C. They have the ability to heal their cuts. D. They can collect microplastics in deep waters. 33. What’s the writer’s purpose of writing Paragraph 2? A. To warn us that there are lots of microplastics. B. To show us microplastics are everywhere. C. To tell us people are worried about microplastics. D. To explain why it is difficult to clean up microplastics. 34. What can we infer about the robotic fish now? A. They are too big to move quickly. B. They cannot be controlled by light. C. They are not good at collecting microplastics. D. They can only work near the surface of the water. 35. Which of the following shows the structure of this passage? A. B. C. D. 【答案】32. C 33. D 34. D 35. A 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要讲述了微塑料对环境和健康的危害,以及四川大学科学家发明的机器人鱼在清理微塑料方面的进展。 【32题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第6段“The team use the material from the inside of shells (贝壳 ) to make their robotic fish. As well as attracting microplastics, the material can even heal (治愈) itself after being cut.”可知,研究小组利用贝壳内部的材料制造机器鱼。这种材料不仅能吸引微塑料,甚至还能在被切割后自我愈合。故选C。 【33题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章第2段“They are small bits of plastic less than 5 mm long. Because of their size, they are difficult to clean up.可知,它们是小于5毫米的塑料碎片。由于它们的尺寸,它们很难清理。因此推测,作者写第二段的目的是解释为什么清理微塑料很困难。故选D。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“They hope in the future they can create new kinds of robotic fish that can work in deeper waters and collect more microplastics.” A。 III.Complete the passage(共5小题,每小题2分,共10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后所给的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并将所选答案涂到答题卡的相应位置上。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Thanks to the internet and social media, information can now be shared with people all around the world in seconds. ____36____ A deepfake is a fake (虚假的) video, picture or sound recording created with AI. Reading Expression (共5小题,每小题2分,共10分) There are many ways to help improve your health like eating healthy food, taking exercise and getting medical help. But the easiest and cheapest way to improve your health is just to sleep eight hours or more every night. The problem with sleep is that more and more people in the world are not sleeping enough. The World Health Orientation (WHO) says, over half of the people in the world may be sleep deprived (睡眠不足的). Having less sleep not only makes people feel tired but also causes accidents. Also, sleep problems can cause medical problems, such as high blood pressure. Why are so many people sleep-deprived? Part of the reasons may be cultural. In the American culture, people put a higher value on work than on sleep. Also, you can sometimes hear some people say proudly that they don’t have much time to sleep. They only sleep four or five hours a night. It seems that the less you sleep, the more work you’ll do. How do we teach these people to learn the value of sleep? Perhaps they may follow the advice of Dr. James Maas, an expert in sleep. He says, “Sleep is like a credit (信用) card. When you sleep less, you are only borrowing time. You always have to pay it back.” For those who value work more than sleep, they should listen to what a famous person once said, “Don’t think you will be doing less work because you sleep during the night. That is a foolish idea which is held by people who have no imagination. You will be able to do more.” 61. We can improve our health through many ways but the easiest and cheapest way is to sleep ________ ________ 8 hours every night. 62. In the American culture, people think that work is more ________ than sleep. It seems that sleeping less means doing ________ work. 63. ________ the advice of Dr. James Maas may help people learn the value of sleep. He says, we need to pay back the hours on our sleep credit card ________ we get enough sleep. 64. A famous person once said that it was ________ of you to consider that you would be doing less work because of ________ during the night. 65. What can you get from the last paragraph? __________________________________________________________________ 【答案】61. ①. at ②. least 62. ①. important##valuable ②. more 63. ①. Following ②. unless 64. ①. foolish ②. sleeping 65. From the last paragraph, we can get the idea that thinking one will do less work because of sleeping at night is a foolish thought./Getting enough sleep enables one to do more work./It encourages those who value work more than sleep to change their view and realize the importance of sleep for work efficiency. 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍了睡眠是改善健康最简单便宜的方法,分析了睡眠不足的危害、原因,并引用专家和建议强调了睡眠的价值。 【61题详解】 根据文章第1段“But the easiest and cheapest way to improve your health is just to sleep eight hours or more every night.”可知,“eight hours or more”意为“至少八小时”,对应此处两空短语“at least”。 【62题详解】 根据文章第3段“In the American culture, people put a higher value on work than on sleep.”可知,工作比睡眠更有价值,“higher value”对应“more valuable”或者“more important”;根据“It seems that the less you sleep, the more work you’ll do.”可知,睡得少意味着做更多工作。 【63题详解】 根据文章第4段“Perhaps they may follow the advice of Dr. James Maas”可知,听从建议有助于了解睡眠价值,此处作主语需用动名词“Following”;根据“He says, ... C One of the greatest sources(根源) of unhappiness, in my experience, is the difficulty we have in accepting things as they are. D ①Microplastics (微塑料) are one of the largest environmental problems we face. 35. 62.
