Have you ever heard of the International Red Cross? It is one of the most well-known charities in the world. Last month, a terrible earthquake hit a remote village in Yunnan. Many houses fell down, and thousands of people lost their homes. Our school decided to organize a donation activity to support the rescue work.
The Red Cross acted very quickly. Volunteers provided the victims with hot meals and clean drinking water immediately. Besides food, they also set up temporary hospitals to treat the injured. A doctor from the Red Cross told us that they even sent special medical teams to save people trapped under the ruins.
Inspired by their spirit, every student in my class donated their pocket money. We also made colorful posters to call on more people to join us. Although the money we raised was not huge, we knew it could buy bandages or warm clothes for those in need. Through this activity, I realized that helping others is not just about money, but about showing love and care.
