In 2016, Jamal was 17 years old then. He received a text message from a grandmother inviting him over for Thanksgiving dinner. The thing was, it wasn’t his real grandmother. Wanda didn’t realize that one of her grandsons changed his number, so she accidentally texted Jamal. Jamal explained he wasn’t her grandson, but asked if he could still go. “Yes.” Wanda replied, “Because that’s what grandmas do ... feed everyone.”
“We told jokes and stories and shared our memories. It was amazing,” Jamal said. He also shared their text conversation on social media. It quickly became wildly popular. And it’s become a yearly tradition that’s beloved by the families and the Internet. Jamal recently posted that he would be at Wanda’s house again this year to enjoy good food and great conversation. “We are all set for year 6.” he shared online.
Outside of Thanksgiving, Jamal visited pumpkin fields with Wanda and her husband and helped them with their phone troubles. “Family is more than blood,” Wanda said in a 2018 Thanksgiving video. “It’s the people you want to be with and you just feel good with.”
“This story has been amazing from the start to the finish,” Jamal said. “Sometimes, when I see so many kind messages, it actually helps me get through many difficulties. It makes me so happy to see so many people looking forward to our story. I just love everything about it.”
Wanda told the reporter that before she accidentally sent Jamal the text, she considered not doing Thanksgiving festivals at all that year. “I asked my husband if we could just skip Thanksgiving and go off to have a mini vacation, but I didn’t know life had other plans for me.” She adds kindly, “While our story had a happy ending, always remember this: If you ever receive a message from a ‘grandma’ like me, you must tell your parents first! That’s exactly what Jamal did, and that’s how every beautiful story should properly begin.”
1.Why did Wanda accidentally text Jamal?
2.Where did Jamal share their text conversation?
3.What did Jamal do for Wanda and her husband outside of Thanksgiving?
4.Would you like to welcome an unexpected connection, like Jamal and Wanda’s story? Why or why not? (Give at least two reasons.)
【答案】1.Because Wanda didn’t realize that one of her grandsons changed his number. 2.On social media. 3.He visited pumpkin fields with them and helped them with their phone troubles. 4.Yes. First, unexpected connections can bring new and wonderful experiences, just like Jamal and Wanda got to know each other and had a great time sharing jokes, stories and creating yearly traditions. Second, such connections can spread kindness and warmth, which can inspire more people to be kind and make the world full of love. (开放性试题,答案合理即可)

Keeping an Old Sport Alive
Though the FIFA World Cup came to an end in December 2022, the people of a special city in China were busy making soccer history of their own.
Zibo in Shandong province is called “the home of soccer ball”, being the birthplace of the ancient Chinese sport of cuju. Cuju won recognition (认可) from soccer’s governing body, FIFA, as the earliest form of soccer in 2004.
“Side-flicking”, “chest-down” and “shoulder-stopper” are some of the key moves mastered (掌握) by cuju players. Li Weipeng, from Linzi district of Zibo city, is a seventh-generation inheritor (传承人) of cuju. He has been practicing these skills for 18 years.
Mastering different cuju skills is not easy. “At the beginning, I spent eight hours a day practicing juggling (颠) a ball. It was tiring,” Li told China Daily. He is now able to juggle a ball with his foot over 10,000 times in a row.
Teaching students cuju moves is a part of Li’s job. The traditional Chinese sports cuju is now popular at primary and middle schools in Linzi. Its moves have been adapted (改编) into dances and morning exercises.
“Students show great interest in playing cuju, which encourages me to spread the ancient sport,” Li told China Daily.
Moreover, cuju has also become a platform for cultural exchanges. During the World Cup in Qatar, Li introduced cuju at a China-Qatar youth exchange activity held in Doha. During the exchange activity, Chinese and Qatari youth players wore traditional cuju clothing and experienced the ancient game.
“As soon as we started, many soccer fans gathered around us. When we played out the different moves, they cheered for us and gave us the thumbs-up,” said Li, adding that many people were curious and wanted to communicate with the cuju players. Cuju has become a kind of sport that promotes (促进) international communication.
1.When did cuju win recognition as the earliest form of soccer from FIFA?

Passage 1
(24-25八年级下·北京海淀·期末)阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
Kurtz is the manager of Rust Belt Riders in Cleveland, Ohio. His company started a project of composting (堆肥) with waste food. Its goal is to fight against climate change by recycling as much food waste as possible.
“If we want to meet the climate goals that have been set by our leaders and scientists, we’re going to have to deal with food waste, which is a huge part of the problem of climate change,” Kurtz said.
Wasted food usually ends up in landfills. As it breaks down, it creates a gas called methane (甲烷). Methane traps heat in the atmosphere, which makes climate worse.
Every day, Kurtz connects with grocery stores, restaurants, and other food-service businesses. He educates them about the harmful effects of food waste. Then he asks if they’re willing to change the way they deal with their extra food. So far, Rust Belt Riders has called on 300 companies and 2,800 families to do something different with their food waste. With seven trucks and 30 workers, the company picks up their clients’ extra food and composts it, turning it into soil.
Composted soil is much more than just dirt. It’s made up of five ingredients that help plants grow strong. That’s why Kurtz and his workmates sell the composted soil to people and businesses that need it, which has become a second service at Rust Belt Riders.
In addition to partnering with businesses and families, Rust Belt Riders has teamed up with local schools. At Dentzler Elementary, Rust Belt Riders helps the kitchen staff compost its leftover food. The students place their food waste into bins during lunch periods. The bins are then collected by Rust Belt Riders. “This program has created a space for all students to become environmental caretakers in their own cafeteria,” Emily Cass, a farm-to-school coordinator (协调员) at Dentzler says, “when they might not have other opportunity to help with climate change.”
1.What is the goal of the project that Kurtz started?
2.How does the company deal with their clients’ extra food?
3.Why do Kurtz and his workmates sell the composted soil?
4.What do you think of the project of the company? Why do you think so?

Passage 2
(24-25八年级下·北京顺义·期末)阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
What Makes a Good Life?
What if we could study people from the time that they were teenagers all the way into old age to see what really keeps people happy and healthy?
Luckily for us, for many years now, we’ve conducted a study to answer this very question. The Harvard Study of Adult Development may be the longest study of adult life that has ever been done. So what have we learned from the tens of thousands of pages of information that we’ve generated on these lives? Well, the lessons aren’t about wealth or fame or hard work. The clearest message that we have gotten from this study is this: Good relationships keep us happier and healthier.
We’ve learned three big lessons about relationships. Firstly, social connections are really good for us, and loneliness kills. People who are more closely connected to their family, friends and community are happier, physically healthier, and live longer lives than those who are less well-connected. The sad fact is that at any given time, more than one in five Americans will report that they’re lonely.
And we know that you can be lonely in a crowd, so the second big lesson is that it’s not just the number of friends you have, but it’s the quality of your close relationships that matters.
Besides protecting our bodies, good relationships help our memories stay sharper for a longer time. And those good relationships don’t have to be smooth all the time. Some couples could argue with each other day in and day out in their 80s, but as long as they felt that they could really count on the other when the going got tough, those arguments wouldn’t end up doing harm to their memories.
So what about you? What might “leaning in to relationships” even look like? Well, the possibilities are practically endless. It might be something as simple as replacing screen time with people time, or changing a stale (腻烦的) relationship by doing something new together, or reaching out to that family member to whom you haven’t spoken in years.
The good life is built with good relationships.
1.What can keep us happier and healthier?
2.According to the passage, who can live longer lives?
3.Besides protecting our bodies, what can good relationships bring to us?
4.What do you think of good relationships? Why do you think so? (Please give two reasons.)
【答案】1.Good relationships. 2.People who are more closely connected to their family, friends and community. 3.They can help our memories stay sharper for a longer time. 4.I think good relationships are very important. They make us happier and healthier. They help improve our memory.

Passage 1
(24-25八年级下·北京大兴·期末)阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
Tommy White has been rowing across the Pacific Ocean in a boat since he left California two months ago. He has been heading for Australia with only birds, fish and sharks alone.
Crossing the Pacific Ocean is only part of it. Tommy has decided to go all the way around the world using his own energy. He would row, bike, walk, and climb to explore the world without any help from motors (马达) at all. His plan included climbing the tallest peaks on six of the continents (大陆) around the world along the way.
For the first part of his journey, he bicycled 5,546 miles from Seattle, Washington to Mount Mckingley in Alaska and back, walked 67 miles to base camp, and climbed up 20,320 feet to Mckingley’s top. Now in the second part of his dangerous journey, he is rowing to Australia.
Why would he try to go around the world this way? He explains that he wants to encourage teenagers to dream their dreams and achieve their own goals. He wants to show them that there might be hard parts along the way, and sometimes they might not even get to that final goal. But they can experience great adventures and learn a lot along the way.
Tommy has already faced and fought over lots of difficulties. For example, he wants to go south toward the Solomon Islands, but the strong wind and high waves in the sea have kept pushing him westward. If the weather doesn’t change, he will cheerfully change his plan, and aim to land at Papua New Guinea. One way or another, he’s sure he’ll get to his next goal: Australia.
When his journey around the world takes him across land, he enjoys meeting people along the way—especially children. He has already visited many schools and shared his story with the students and teachers there.
Tommy encourages all teenagers to set their eyes on a goal and not to give up. He says, “With different goals, we will make great progress, and we will be farther along than when we started, even though we don’t get to some goals. That’s called real life!”
1.What has Tommy decided to use instead of motors?
2.How far did Tommy walk to the base camp?
3.Why does Tommy think about changing his plan?
4.If you want to make great progress, which is more important, setting small goals or making a big dream? Why? (Give at least two reasons.)

Several young people from China and abroad are jogging (慢跑) through Beijing’s hutong while picking up waste and bottles with big clamps (夹子) and bags in their hands.
These young people are taking part in a competition of picking up waste while jogging. It is a team activity organized by Plogging Beijing, a social group focusing on fitness and public benefits.
Miro, 24, born in Hamburg of Germany, is the fastest runner picking up the greatest amount of waste. Upon arriving at the finish line, Miro clapped with his teammates and then began to sort (分类) the waste.
“When jogging and picking up waste, I get a chance to enjoy beautiful scenery along these old hutongs. I’m proud to be a member of the team,” Miro said.
“Our group was established (成立) last year,” said Zhang Yashi, organizer of Plogging Beijing. Zhang and his friends enjoy jogging around the Forbidden City at night. Lu Yuan, a college student, did a quick tour around the city of Chengdu during the weekend.
“Chengdu is perfect for ‘special forces style tourism’ because there are good places to take pictures, and the whole city is an amazing food court,” Lu said.
Recently, a new kind of tourism called special forces style tourism is becoming popular in China. This new kind of tourism means visiting tourist attractions in a short, intense period. Lu Yuan visited three local attractions on the day she arrived, and spent the second day to see the pandas. Before catching the train home, she also did some shopping and enjoyed a hearty dinner at a famous local restaurant.
People who like taking photos and making recordings may choose this kind of tourism. With the popularity of social media, people prefer presenting their photos and get “likes” from their friends through social circles. At the same time, tourist attractions provide some special photo slots (打卡点) to attract visitors. Therefore, special forces style tourism has become a way for people to show their lives and experiences by sharing photos and recordings, which makes people get a sense of satisfaction.
Not all Chinese people enjoy special forces style tourism. Many people prefer to take a long vacation to go to a place for detailed tourism and experience the local way of life. They tend to enjoy slow-paced (慢速的) deep travel, by staying for a long time to gain a deeper understanding of local culture, customs, and experience local life. The slow-paced travel focuses more on feelings and experiences.
However, special forces tours do not necessarily mean that you have not fully experienced the charm of tourism. People remember the details of their travels more deeply by taking photos and recording them. These photos have become an important way for them to recall their travels, so they are not just looking at them without feeling them.
The value of tourism lies in discovery, experience, and perception (感知). Therefore, whether it is special forces style tourism or slow-paced deep travel, it is worth respecting and understanding. We should all feel the scenery of the journey with our hearts, see with our eyes and walk with our feet.

(24-25八年级下·北京大兴·期末)阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
Do you have exam stress (压力)? Exam time is the most stressful time of the year. You have worked all school term in your classes and now it’s the time to prove what you have learned. In fact, it’s common for most of us to have exam stress. A little bit of stress can be a good thing. If we have proper (适当的) stress, we can think actively and work harder. Besides, it can help us to focus (聚焦) on the preparation of exams. However, if we can’t deal with stress well, we may make things worse.
When I was in school, I used to get very stressed over my exams. So did my friends. Some of them stopped eating and others ate too much! Some gave up and others burned themselves out! But the most important thing to remember when studying is not to feel frightened! Take the middle path (路线)— stay calm, eat healthy and get a rest. Pushing yourself too hard is just as dangerous as not studying enough. A tired, overworked brain is just as useless as a lazy, empty one!
So, what should you do? Set a time each day for study and a time for relaxation. You may have less time to relax than usual, but you still need to let your brain rest for a few moments. Get plenty of sleep. If you are tired, information will not stick in your memory. Finally, cat healthy foods that fuel (提供能量) your body and mind.
It does no good to think too much about your exams. Some students may think that the rest of their life depends on exams. That’s not true. Instead, just see the exams as another difficulty you will overcome (克服). You have overcome all kinds of difficulties in your life so far. With the right amount of work and focus, you will pass your exams with flying colors!
1.When is the most stressful time of the year for the students?
2.What is the most important thing to remember when studying?

Passage 3
(24-25八年级下·北京东城·期末)
Kids in a Cashless World: Are We Losing the Feel of Real Money?
Not too long ago, saving money meant putting coins into a piggy bank or hiding notes in a secret place. Buying snacks meant handing over real cash and feeling every cent you spent. But in today’s world, money doesn’t jingle (叮当) or crinkle (起皱)—it clicks.
For many kids, digital payments are becoming part of everyday life. With smartphones or cards, it’s common to buy things without cash. According to NewsHour, about half of kids aged 10 to 12 own a smartphone. Some families are using apps to help kids manage money.
Digital money is easy to carry, and you don’t have to worry about losing notes or carrying coins. But when money becomes just numbers on a screen, it can feel less real. And when money doesn’t feel real, it’s easier to spend too much without thinking.
Scientists say that kids learn best through hands-on experiences. When you count change or hand over cash, you understand its value more clearly. It feels like something you’re giving up. But when you buy something online or tap your phone, nothing feels like it’s missing. That small difference can change the way kids think about money.
Still, many kids are learning how to manage money in this new digital world. When NewsHour asked students questions about money, one kid quickly answered that there are 15 quarters in $3.75. Even without using coins, some kids are excellent at money maths. But managing money isn’t just about maths—it’s also about habits (习惯).
To help kids form good habits, many parents use tools to give their children money for doing chores. These tools help kids divide (分开) their money into “spend”, “save”, and “give”, and let parents keep an eye on how the money is used. Some apps also teach lessons about saving and investing (投资). Schools are also taking part, offering classes on money management.
Talking about money at home is just as important. Whether using cash or cards, learning how to plan for spending and save for future goals helps kids feel confident with money.
Living in a cashless world isn’t a bad thing, but it means kids need new skills. With the right support from parents, teachers, and technology, they can grow up to be financially (经济上) smart—even without ever carrying a coin.
1.What did saving money mean not too long ago?

4.What will you do to manage money in a cashless society? (Give two examples.)

Passage 4
(24-25八年级下·北京西城·期末)阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
Over the New Year, I received a new down jacket, perfect for cold winters. But within two weeks, a stain appeared on my jacket Water didn’t cut it, nor the detergent (洗涤剂). So I searched for the ways to clean it. Finally, I removed the stain. Then I thought, “If I don’t know how to wash down products, others probably don’t know either!” Here’s what I learned:
In fact, “down” is the very fine soft feathers (羽毛) of a bird. Even though down and water don’t always seem like a good match, it’s natural for down to get wet. Think about a duck swimming in water. Not only are down products easy to wash, but they should be washed at least once or twice a year.
So how to wash your down coat? Here are some useful tips.
Check the care label. Most down products have a care label. Some labels have written washing instructions (说明), and others use symbols. For example, a small tub means machine wash, and the dots inside the tub show the water temperature. Not all down products are machine washable, so be sure to check.
Remove spots (污点) at once. For most washable down jackets, you can use cold water. Use a little dish soap. Then, rinse (冲洗) clean with a wet cloth so it doesn’t leave a ring.
Carefully prepare to wash. Before washing, check and clear your pockets in order to make sure there’s nothing left. You can even turn your jacket inside out to make sure that it doesn’t catch on anything.
Set your washer for a gentle cycle with warm water. There are detergents specially designed for down, but they may not be necessary.
Dry low and slow. After washing, dry your down products in a dryer. Set it to low temperature or air dry. Every so often, take the product out, shake it, and put it back in the dryer. This will help the down stay fluffy (松软的).
1.What is “down”?
2.According to the passage, how often should we wash down products?
3.On a care label, what do the dots inside the tub show?
4.Before washing, why should we turn the jacket inside out?
5.Give the passage a title.

Nowadays, many people want to search for dazi (搭子) or partners for doing many things. This has led to heated discussion among young people. Everyone has his or her own opinion. In some ways, finding dazi is a new form of social contact (接触) for young people.
Unlike friendship, the idea of dazi is simple—people with the same interest come together to do things. Dazi can appear in many different ways in daily life, from eating to studying, working or even going to the toilet. It helps people find the person with the same hobbies and doesn’t take people too much time.
A girl called Mu Qing, a high school student from Hangzhou, enjoys talking with her meal dazi when she is having lunch. “We like sharing our ideas on the food,” said the girl, “If my meal dazi doesn’t come to school one day, I will be upset (沮丧).”
“Traditional friendship needs a lot of time and emotion to keep, while having dazi means not needing to worry about it,” said another girl called Li Na. Having a dazi is a relaxing way for her. She can feel relaxed and then focus more on study.
Dazi is usually helpful, but it can be dangerous sometimes. People sometimes find dazi on the Internet to work together, like playing games. Passage 6
(24-25八年级下·北京·期末)
Collecting As a Hobby
Collecting must be one of the various human activities, and it’s one that many psychologists find more attractive.
Some people collect because they want to make money. This could be called an instrumental (工具性) reason for collecting. They’ll look for antiques (古董) that they can buy cheaply and expect to sell at a profit (赢利). But there may be a psychological element, too—buying cheap and selling dear can give the collector a sense of achievement.
Another motive (动机) for collecting is the desire to find something special, such as a rare early recording by a particular singer. Some may spend their whole lives in a hunt for this. Psychologically, this can give a purpose to a life. There is a danger, though, that if the individual (个别的) is ever lucky enough to find what they’re looking for, they may feel empty, because the goal that drove them on has gone.
If you think about collecting stamps, another potential (潜在的) reason is its educational value. Stamp collecting opens a window to other countries, and to the plants, animals, or famous people shown on their stamps. In the 19th century, many collectors collected fossils (化石), animals and plants from around the world and their collections provided a large amount of information about the natural world. Without those collections, our understanding would be far behind what it is.
Not all collectors are interested in learning from their hobbies. Some people collect because of the need for a sense of control, perhaps as a way of dealing with insecurity (不安全). Stamp collectors, for instance, put their stamps in albums in a particularly order, perhaps by country in alphabetical order, or grouping stamps by people, birds, maps, and so on.

In recent years, our country has been actively increasing public health awareness (意识). While following the healthy eating pyramid to have healthy food is important, we must also pay close attention to mental health.
Students’ Mental Health Day is on May 25th. This date, pronounced “wu er wu” in Chinese, sounds similar to “love yourself” in Chinese. Research shows that 1 in 5 teenagers worldwide experience mental health problems. In China, nearly 30% of middle school students feel stressed regularly.
For teenagers today, there are several common mental health problems. Firstly, study stress is a big problem. Many students feel nervous before exams. Secondly, online apps have good and bad sides. Spending too much time online often leads to feelings of anxiety (焦虑). Thirdly, family relationships are also important because good family relationships can give teenagers love and support. If there isn’t enough communication in the family, teenagers will feel stressed.
To solve these problems, we can take several steps. First, schools can offer more mental health education courses. These classes can teach students how to manage stress and build resilience (韧性,抗逆力). Second, parents should communicate more with their children. It’s good for creating a supportive home environment. Third, teenagers themselves should develop healthy habits, such as regular exercise and less screen time. A study found that 30 minutes of daily exercise can reduce anxiety levels by 20%.
In conclusion, health includes both a good diet and a healthy mind. By taking care of our mental well-being, we can lead happier and more colourful lives. Remember, loving ourselves is the first step to a healthier future.

Passage 8
(23-24八年级下·北京顺义·期末)阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
Teens like to work out in their daily life, like running, playing basketball or soccer. But we don’t often think of martial arts as a possible activity, instead, we rule it out because we think it’s dangerous, uncommon, and even, impossible.
Well, here’s some good news: you’re wrong! Martial arts is much more common than people think, and you can start learning at any age. Practicing martial arts is a great way to keep in shape (both physically and mentally). And it’s much less scary and much less difficult than it’s usually portrayed (描绘) as in movies, so worry not, you don’t need to be the karate kid to have a blast! Let’s look at what you can usually expect from martial arts of any style.
Good martial arts generally requires you to focus on the position and movement of every one of your limbs (四皮), sometimes even your breathing too. Think about it: when you leave the gym, your mental state has improved and you are much calmer. This is because you’ve only paid attention to one activity. It is a great way to clear your head, and practice can help you learn to stay more focused in general (say, when you start your schoolwork afterwards).
Long series of choreographed moves (including when to breath in and out) called forms are often described as “moving meditation (冥想)”; they’re meditative in the same way doing repeated moves is, but much more so. Martial arts practice can be as slow or as intense (激烈的) as you want, but it’s always extremely attractive.
Martial arts also improves your coordination (协调性), and greatly improves your posture. I have personally seen students go from slouching (低头垂肩地站) and knocking things over to walking tall with their shoulders back in just a couple of months.
There are many styles and countless subtypes and mix-ups of martial arts. Whichever one appeals to you, know that all of them are good choices, competitive or not.

2.Where did Jamal share their text conversation?
3.What did Jamal do for Wanda and her husband outside of Thanksgiving?
4.Would you like to welcome an unexpected connection, like Jamal and Wanda’s story? Why or why not? (Give at least two reasons.)

2.How long did Li spend practicing juggling a ball at the beginning?
3.What did Chinese and Qatari youth players do during the exchange activity?
4.Would you like to learn to play cuju? Why or why not? (Please give two reasons.)

Running for Fun
Running helps you keep fit. That’s why millions of people run several days a week and take part in races. Some runners connect running with charity (慈善). They collect money for their run and give it to people in need. Have you ever heard of the Colour Run? It is a special and popular running game known as” The happiest 5 K on the planet”.
The Colour Run offers a more enjoyable and healthy experience compared to traditional running races. It is famous around the world. Travis Snyder had been thinking for some time about an idea for a fun run. He hoped that skilled runners and people who enjoyed running in free time could run together. In 2012, he started the first “Colour Run” and 6, 000 runners took part in it. Now it is held every year in many cities around the world with millions of people. In the activity, the runners start the run wearing something white, and at every kilometre people paint them in different colours: 1 K is yellow, 2 K is blue, 3 K is green, 4 K is pink,...a big colour show!
Why do people go on a Colour Run? Because it’s healthy, fun and colourful. Many people love the game because it provides a fresh and exciting experience. Their focus isn’t on the competition but enjoying the experience and the lively feeling.
The Colour Run also supports charity. While running, runners have the chance to raise money for some charities, like children’s hospital. Some runners even choose to run in crazy clothes to get more attention and collect more money for those in need.
Fitness, fun, and the chance to do charity work have made the Colour Run a highly popular game. The Colour Run brings people of different ages and fitness levels together in a cheerful and colorful way. It encourages physical activity and acts of kindness.
1.Who started the first Colour Run?
2.What colour of clothes do the runners wear when they start the run?
3.Why do some runners choose to run in crazy clothes?
4.Would you like to take part in the Colour Run? Why or why not?

Last year, he came across plogging online, which originated (起源) in Sweden and combined (结合) the Swedish words for “picking up” and “jogging”.
“It sounded more interesting than only jogging, so we gave it a try,” Zhang said. On the first night, he and his friends picked up three bags of waste around the Forbidden City, which gave them a sense of achievement (成就感).
By posting pictures online, they attracted (吸引) a small following. “We only had four people at first, but now we have about 700 members in our team,” Zhang said.
“We have received great support, and some companies even bought bags, uniforms, clamps for us,” Zhang said.
To attract more people, new elements such as puzzles, hiking and promotion (提升) of waste classification knowledge have been added to their outings. To make the activity safe and efficient, Zhang often chooses places like the paths surrounding the Forbidden City, traditional hutong and parks with few cars and large amounts of garbage.
This time, the activity was held in South Luogu Lane (南锣鼓巷), a famous business center in Beijing with many tourists. “The litter we picked up this year is less than last year,” Zhang said.
“I’m really happy that more and more young people can enjoy themselves in this activity, the social influence of the activity is more important than the activity itself,” said Zhang.
1.What competition are these young people taking part in?
2.How many members are there in the jogging team now?
3.Which places does Zhang often choose when he organizes the activity?
4.Do you want to take part in the activity of Plogging Beijing? Why or why not? (At least 2 reasons. )

(23-24八年级下·北京东城·期末)阅读短文,根据短文内容回答问题。
1.What does “special forces style tourism” mean?
2.Who may choose the special forces style tourism according to the passage?
3.What does the value of tourism lie in?
4.Would you like to choose special forces style tourism or slow-paced deep travel? Why?

(24-25八年级下·北京密云·期末)Have you ever heard of pygmy hippos? Moo Deng is a baby pygmy hippo. She was born in July at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand. People like her because she is playful and full of life. Her name, Moo Deng, means “bouncy pork (弹跳猪)”. It is a good name for her fun and lively nature.
Moo Deng’s keeper, Mr Nundee, started posting videos of her on social media when she was very young. These videos made Moo Deng famous. People all over the world enjoy watching videos of her running around, playing with her mother, and trying to bite (咬) Mr Nundee in a funny way. Now Moo Deng has millions of fans. Many people share her pictures and videos online. Some companies even use her pictures to make jokes or sell things like makeup and cakes.
Her fame (名气) brings many visitors to the zoo. Thousands of people come every day to see her. The zoo made shirts, T-shirts, and pants. These clothes all had pictures of Moo Deng on them and were sold out very quickly. The zoo plans to use the money to help look after more endangered (濒危的) animals. The zoo hopes that more people will learn about these animals and want to protect them in the future.
Pygmy hippos are in great danger. Only about 2,500 pygmy hippos live in the wild. They live in the forests in West Africa. Because people cut down trees to make farms and roads, many forests are disappearing. Some people also hunt pygmy hippos for food. This makes it difficult for pygmy hippos to stay safe. The zoo hopes Moo Deng’s fame will help people understand why they should protect these animals and their forest homes.
At the zoo, Moo Deng faces some problems. Some visitors throw water or other things at her. They want her to move or play more. To protect her, the zoo now limits how many people can see her and how long they can stay. The zoo is also setting up a webcam (网络摄像头), so people can watch her online anytime—24 hours a day. With this, her fans can watch her playful life, and she stays safe.
1.Why do people like Moo Deng?
2.What does the zoo plan to do with the money from selling clothes?
3.How many pygmy hippos live in the wild?
4.Is it important to protect pygmy hippos? What do you think are the good ways? (Please give two ways.)
Passage 2
3.Why should we get plenty of sleep during exam time?
4.What do you think of exam stress? What should students do to deal with exam stress? (Give at least two points.)

2.What are the advantages of digital money mentioned in the passage?
3.How can kids understand the value of money more clearly according to scientists?
4.What will you do to manage money in a cashless society? (Give two examples.)

Some people may put on fake (假的) masks (面具) and lie (说谎) on the Internet. For example, a young and beautiful girl on the Internet may be an old heavy man in real life. So, think twice when finding dazi.
1.What is the idea of dazi?
2.What do Mu Qing and her meal dazi like doing?
3.Why is having a dazi a relaxing way for Li Na?
4.Would you like to have a study dazi? Why or why not? (至少写出两点)
1.What is the instrumental reason for collecting?
2.Why do the collectors feel empty when they find their special things?
3.What collections provided the information about the natural world?
4.If you are a collector, what will you collect? And why?

1.When is Students’ Mental Health Day?
2.How many common mental health problems does the writer talk about?
3.How can schools help solve the mental problems?
4.What will you do to improve your mental health? Why? (Please give two reasons.)

1.What is a great way to keep in shape?
2.Why are you much calmer when you leave the gym?
3.What happens to students slouching and knocking things over in just a couple of months?
4.Would you like to work out martial arts after reading the passage? Why or why not? (Please give two reasons.)
