应用文写作
Dear classmates,
Recently, copying homework has become a common phenomenon in our class, which has caused many negative effects. For one thing, it prevents us from thinking independently and figuring out our weaknesses in study. For another, it forms bad learning habits and ruins our class learning atmosphere.
As we all know, homework is an effective way to review knowledge and check our learning progress. Only by finishing homework on our own can we truly master what we have learned and make steady progress.
Therefore, I call on all of us to correct this bad behavior. We should insist on independent thinking and finish homework carefully. If we meet difficult questions, we can turn to teachers and classmates for help instead of copying answers.
Let’s work together to build a good learning environment!
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
读后续写
Paragraph 1:
One day, Adam received a special message from a teenage boy who also had a stammer. The boy wrote that he had always been too scared to speak in class, but after watching Adam’s videos, he finally raised his hand and read aloud in front of his classmates. “Your story made me believe I’m not alone,” the boy said. Reading the message, Adam’s eyes filled with tears. He thought back to his own school days, when he would sit quietly in class, too ashamed to speak. Now, his small videos were giving someone else the courage he once lacked. That day, he decided to do more than just post videos.
Paragraph 2:
As Adam’s page grew more popular, he realized his greatest achievement was not the views, but the change in himself. He no longer hid from conversations; instead, he began doing live streams, talking openly about his stammer and answering questions from viewers. He even started going to the gym more often, a habit he’d picked up to build his confidence. “People lifting weights in the gym inspired me to keep going with my speech,” he said. What started as a small idea to help others had turned into a journey of self-acceptance. Adam finally understood: facing his fear not only lifted others up, but also freed him from the shame he’d carried for so long.

Each morning, Gangaram arrives at his traffic post in simple clothes, holding a stick. He has never received any formal training. Yet, with care and order, he directs cars, clears congested roads, and helps children and the elderly cross the road safely. He spends more than 10 hours every day directing traffic. Scientists have discovered that male proboscis monkeys’ massive noses help to create the unique calls they use to communicate with each other.
Endangered proboscis monkeys are only found on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. They live near rivers and in mangrove forests. Male proboscis monkeys have unusual noses, which are so long that they can even hang over their mouths. Female proboscis monkeys have much smaller noses than the males.
A proboscis monkey’s massive nose serves as a status symbol that it uses to attract females and warn off other males. However, there is much more to the large noses. With the help of their noses, the males can make a loud trumpet-like call, known as a “bray”. They make the sound by pushing air out through their noses, with their mouths shut. The nose creates an echo chamber for the sound, and a monkey’s call can travel a long way through the forest where it lives.
To further study the males’ noses, researchers from several Japanese universities and Yokohama Zoo Zoorasia created X-ray scans of them. They then used the scans to create 3D digital models of the monkeys’ nasal passages. With these models, the researchers could see how the noses shape the air as it passes through them. They found that the monkeys’ noses make some sounds quieter and that each nose creates its own unique sound that other monkeys can recognise.
Simon Townsend, a researcher at the University of Zürich in Switzerland, said that the individual sounds could be an important way for the monkeys to find other monkeys in Borneo’s thick forests, where they can’t see each other.
28.Where can proboscis monkeys be found in the wild?
A. All over Southeast Asia
B. Only on the island of Borneo
C. Only in mangrove forests around the world
D. In thick forests all over the world
29.What does the underlined word“bray”in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A. A type of tree in the forest
B. A special sound made by male proboscis monkeys
C. A tool researchers use to study monkeys
D. A kind of food that proboscis monkeys eat
30. Why do researchers create 3D digital models of the monkeys’ nasal passages?
A. To help the monkeys communicate better
B. To see how the noses shape the air passing through them
C. To teach other monkeys to recognise unique sounds
D. To make the monkeys’ calls travel farther in the forest
31. According to the passage, how do proboscis monkeys find each other in thick forests?
A. By seeing each other clearly through the trees
B. By following the sound of other monkeys’ unique calls
C. By leaving special marks on the trees
D. By using their large noses to smell other monkeys
D
A team of engineers in China has achieved something amazing. They have moved and returned a 7,500-ton historic building complex in Shanghai — with the help of tiny robots. The project began in 2023 when a company was tasked with building an underground shopping center, parking area, and subway lines under the Huayaxi complex.
Built in the 1920s,the three brick-and-wood buildings are classic examples of Shikumen-style architecture. Houses thatmixed traditional Chinesecourtyard designs and Western styles were once common across Shanghai. However, few of these buildings remain today, making their preservation important.
To protect the buildingswhile clearing space for thework below, the team hadto relocate them. But thebuildings are weak andthe streets are too narrow, which make traditional moving methods - like using cranes(吊车) and jacks(千斤顶) impossible. The team began with a detailed 3D scan (扫描) of the site to produce exact plans of the relocation. Battery-powered drilling (钻孔) robots then worked around the buildings’base, clearing soil to make space for the lifting robots below. The soil was removed using a network of conveyor belts (传送带)
Next came 432 “walking” robots. Each was small enough to fit in a hand yet strong enough to lift 10 tons. They were carefully placed below the buildings. Working together, they moved the heavy buildings forward at a slow speed — about 10 meters per day. In total, the buildings were relocated about 48 meters to the west and 46 meters to the north, clearing the way for the work underground.
After the basic underground work was finished, it was time to move the buildings back. The return journey began on May 19, 2025. Over the next twenty days, the robots slowly moved the buildings into place, finishing the task on June 7, 2025.
With the buildings safely returned, work on the underground project continues. The effort highlights how modern technology can preserve historic architecture — even during major urban development.
32. What is the main purpose of the project mentioned in the passage?
A. To build a new historic building complex in Shanghai
B. To move a historic building complex to make way for underground construction
C. To test the strength of tiny robots in different environments
D. To replace traditional moving methods with modern robots
33. Why couldn’t the team use traditional moving methods like cranes?
A. The robots were cheaper and easier to use
B. The buildings were too strong to be lifted by cranes
C. The buildings were weak and the streets were too narrow
D. The underground project needed cranes for other work
34. What can we learn about the “walking” robots from the passage?
A. They are large and heavy machines designed for big construction
B. Each robot can lift up to 10 tons and work together to move buildings
C. They moved the buildings at a speed of 48 meters per day
D. They finished moving the buildings back in less than a week
35. What is the best title for the passage?
A. The Development of Modern Construction Technology
B. How to Protect Old Buildings in Big Cities

Adam Barlow, a 35-year-old man from Shrewsbury, has lived with a stammer since he was three years old. Over the years, speaking fluently has been a great challenge for him. At school, he often avoided talking, because his stutter made him feel extremely nervous and unconfident. “If you’re nervous, you’re not going to be able to put a sentence together at all,” he once explained.
Though he struggled with his speech, Adam never let it stop him from chasing his dreams. He always knew that helping others facing similar difficulties was something he wanted to do. In May 2025, he created a TikTok page called Lift The Fear, where he shared daily videos about his life with a stammer. At first, he was afraid to show his face on camera, worried about being laughed at. But the positive messages he received from viewers, who said, “You can do this!”, encouraged him to keep going.
The videos quickly gained thousands of views. People wrote to say that Adam’s courage inspired them to face their own fears, whether it was speaking in public or accepting themselves. What Adam didn’t know was how deeply his story would change not just others’ lives, but also his own.
Paragraph 1:One day, Adam received a special message from a teenage boy who also had a stammer.________________________________________________
Paragraph 2:As Adam’s page grew more popular, he realized his greatest achievement was not the views, but the change in himself.___________________
