Do you know what the world’s highest waterfall is? You may say that it is Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls are really very beautiful, but in terms of (就……而言) height, the most fantastic falls in the world are Angel Falls. They are deep in the jungles of Venezuela.
Few people have ever seen Angel Falls. It’s very hard to get there. If you went by car, you would have to travel for weeks through jungles. If you went by plane from Caracas, a city on the southern coast, it would take about four hours.
The fascinating falls are God’s gift to nature. One of the most interesting facts about Angel Falls is how they were found. They were named after an American pilot. His name was Jimmy Angel. In 1937, he crashed (坠毁) his plane near the top of the falls. That’s how he found them.
Angel Falls drop nearly a kilometer (about 979m) from a table-top mountain. The water seems to be dropping straight out of the clouds. The height of the falls is so great that by the time the water reaches the ground, it has already turned into fog.
If you have a chance to visit them, you’ll never forget them!

Different countries have different ideas about manners—how you behave when you are eating. In England, table manners are important. Good table manners in England are as follows:
How to sit: You should sit up straight in your chair. It is not a good idea to lean forwards or backwards. When you eat, you should not lean towards the plate, but bring the knife, fork or spoon towards you. At the same time, do not put your elbows on the table, nor reach over someone’s plate for something.
Using your fingers: English people normally don’t pick food up with their fingers when they are eating main courses. If you are not sure, the safest is to use your knife or fork. There are, however, some foods that are usually eaten with fingers. They include pizza, sandwiches, burgers, crisps and fruits.
Your mouth: It is not polite to talk with your mouth full of food, or to eat with your mouth open. And if possible, do not make any noises. Never lick (舔) your plate after eating.
How much to eat: It is polite to eat food that you have been offered, so a clear plate is a good plate. It shows that you enjoyed the food. If you can’t finish everything and you need to leave a little, that’s also okay. You could say something like “That was very nice, thank you, but I’m just too full to eat another bite.”
33. What does the underlined word “lean” in Paragraph 2 mean in Chinese?

and表并列,or表选择,so表因果,逻辑均不通。
固定搭配need time to do sth.

even if引导让步状语从句,主语为you,一般现在时否定形式用don’t see;saw为过去式,否定形式结构错误。
固定搭配with a big smile表示“带着微笑”,作伴随状语;about/for/from均无此用法。
there be句型的一般将来时为there will be,will后接动词原形be;is/are/am不能跟在will后。

29. How does the writer start the passage?
A. By telling a story. B. By asking a question.
C. By listing numbers. D. By giving examples.
30. Few people have ever seen Angel Falls because ________.

B. Angel Falls were found by a pilot after a plane crash in 1937.
C. It takes only a few hours to reach Angel Falls by car from Caracas.
D. The water from Angel Falls hits the ground without turning into fog.
32. What is the best title for the passage?
A. The Beauty of the World B. Who Found Angel Falls
C. Niagara Falls D. The World’s Highest Waterfall
B 30. A 31. B 32. D

全文围绕安赫尔瀑布展开,第一段就点出它是世界上最高的瀑布(“in terms of height, the most fantastic falls in the world are Angel Falls”),后续段落详细介绍了它的相关信息,因此“The World’s Highest Waterfall”是最合适的标题。
