Wild boars are not new to us, but in recent years, they have become a bigger problem. They are found in many areas and their actions have influenced our daily lives.
Wild boars are known for their strong bodies and special living habits. They live in groups and are very active. They eat different kinds of things, especially fruits, nuts and vegetables. Their sense of smell is excellent. It helps them search for food without difficulty. This means they can be found near places with plenty of food all the time.
However, this has led to some serious issues. They often enter farmlands and destroy the crops. Farmers work hard to grow these crops, but wild boars damage them. This causes farmers to lose money and reduce the production of crops.
Besides, the increasing number of wild boars has caused more dangerous situations. ▲ Once, a wild boar hit a train and this led to the train being stopped and held up other trains. This kind of accident can be very dangerous for people’s lives.
To deal with these problems, the government has taken steps. Professional hunting teams have been set up in some areas to control the number of wild boars. Also, some places are building barriers (障碍物) to stop wild boars from entering farmlands and human living areas. It’s important to find a balance between protecting these animals and keeping people safe.

How do you cool off on hot summer days? You might turn on your air conditioner, right? But in India, things aren’t so simple. Only about 20 percent of families there own an air conditioner. The rest have to face rising temperatures without any cooling tools.
Now, an ancient material is stepping in to help: terracotta (赤陶土). Back in the Bronze Age, the Harappan people used terracotta pots to store water. These pots are still common in the Indian countryside today. They help people cool water without using electricity. The material is quite affordable, with each pot costing only one U.S. dollar.
So, how do these pots work? Well, terracotta has many tiny, almost invisible holes on its surface. These holes allow water to slowly dry up. As the water dries up, it carries heat away, causing the area around to become cooler.
Many Indian architects have drawn inspiration from this simple idea. They now use terracotta in their building designs to control indoor temperatures. One pioneer in this field is Ant Studio. Its CoolAnt project adds a terracotta “skin” to buildings. The skin helps moisture (湿度) and heat move between indoor and outdoor spaces. “We’ve seen temperature drops of 6°C to 8°C across more than 30 sites in India,” says Monish Siripurapu, the company’s founder.
Other Indian companies are joining in. A Threshold is recycling old terracotta to make special “breathing” walls. These walls work much like Ant Studio’s terracotta “skin”. MittiCool has developed terracotta fridges. They can keep food fresh for three to five days without power. For homes without reliable electricity, they can be real lifesavers.
Many researchers see terracotta as a game changer for our warming planet. As words spread, the material may become more widely used. We could all stay cool without using lots of energy.
26. What do many people in the Indian countryside use terracotta pots for today?
A. Cooling off. B. Storing water.
C. Cooling water. D. Keeping food fresh.
27. What does the underlined word “affordable” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. Easy to recycle. B. Of good quality.
C. Not too expensive. D. Popular among people.
28. Which of the following shows the changes in temperature (T) and humidity (H, 湿度) inside buildings with Ant Studio’s terracotta “skin”?
A. B. C. D.
29. What can we infer from the reading passage?
A. Terracotta is expected to slow down global warming.
B. People beyond India will not use terracotta to cool off.
C. Terracotta is the most useful in poor countries like India.
D. Air conditioners will soon be replaced by terracotta “skin”.
30. What is the best title for the passage?
A. Tools for Cooling Off B. Saving Energy in Summer
C. Terracotta in the Past D. Cooling Off with Terracotta

The Chase Never Stopped
In March, a Chinese motorcycle brand called ZXMOTO made history. It achieved two victories in the World Supersport Championship in Portugal. This was the first time a Chinese brand beat famous big brands in this world-class competition.
Behind the success is a man named Zhang Xue. Born in a poor village, he left school early and became a motorcycle repair apprentice (学徒) at 14. Life was hard, but he never gave up his dream to be a motorcycle racer. At 19, Zhang did something crazy. He rode over 100 kilometers in the rain to catch a reporter. “I just want a racing team to see my riding skills.” Zhang said. His persistence finally paid off.
Sadly, an injury ended his career as a rider. But Zhang didn’t stop chasing. He said, “If I can’t ride the fastest bike, I will build one.” In 2024, Zhang started his brand, ZXMOTO. Though many people laughed at him, he still kept working hard. The result was the 820RR-RS. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.81 seconds. More importantly, it is 100% Chinese-made!
After winning, Zhang said, “It’s not about getting an award. It’s about loving what you do. And that changes everything.” Although his early life was full of hardships, his crazy passion for racing kept him going. With real love and the spirit of never giving up, any dream is possible.

后文“an old man who was walking his dog in the park”说明测试地点是park“公园”,符合语境。
shot into the sky且we cheered loudly说明火箭成功升空了,successfully“成功地”符合语境。
