Editor’s Note (编者按): EI is the ability to understand and manage your own feelings, as well as recognize and deal with others’ feelings. EI is important for everyone. It can help us manage our feelings, achieve goals, get along well with others and deal with troubles better. There are five key parts.
Self-Awareness
It means recognizing your own feelings and noticing how those feelings influence your behaviour and the people around you.
Self-Regulation (自我调节)
This is all about managing your feelings. When you’re sad or angry, take a moment and slow down. Doing so helps you deal with the situation better.
Motivation (动机)
This is the inner drive that helps you keep going, even when things get difficult—like finishing your homework or sticking with a goal.
Empathy (同理心)
Empathy means understanding how someone else is feeling—even when you’re not in the same situation. It’s about imagining what it’s like to walk in someone else’s shoes. To build empathy, listen carefully when someone is talking to you and read different stories.
