阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
This past summer, my mom came home with an armful of books and a very serious look on her face. She said it was time I started reading “real books”, and I immediately complained. I’d been through this talk before: the one where she told me that I’d “thank her later” for making me a reader, and that books would make me “smarter” and give me “imagination”. I already had my phone, and group chats with friends. What did I need books for?
Still, when I saw the titles, I paused (停顿). These weren’t the classics she normally tried to push on me. These were books with bright covers, funny titles, and characters who looked like they could be real people. “Just give it a try,” Mom said, “You might even like them.”
Hesitantly, I picked up Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper. But reading seemed like such a boring, task compared to the instant entertainment on my phone. I thought about my friends chatting in our group and the endless videos within easy reach. Books felt old-fashioned and slow, and demanded too much focus. Besides, what was the point of reading about made-up people when I had real friends and real stories all around me? With a sigh, I threw the book onto my desk, half-expecting it to sit there, untouched, all summer.
Then, one night, there was a power failure. Unfortunately, my phone was dead, my laptop wasn’t charged, and there was nothing to do but lie there in bed, waiting for the power to come back on. When I looked around, I noticed the book Out of My Mind, siting there in the dark. With nothing better to do, I grabbed it, and opened the first page with a flashlight. I wasn’t expecting to read more than a paragraph. But after a few pages, I was actually curious.

【答案】
By the time L finished the fist chapter, the power was back on. However, I was so fascinated that I kept reading late into the night, completely absorbed. I found myself racing through the pages, unable to put the book down. Before I knew it, I’d read the entire book. I lay there, staring at the ceiling, with the story staying with me and filling me with emotions I hadn’t anticipated. Suddenly, a question came to mind: What would my friends think of this story? Inspired by this thought, I decided to recommend it to them.
The next day, I shared the honk with my fiends excitedly. As they dived into the story, I saw their faces lit up. Realizing the excitement that a book could offer, we started a book club to appreciate more stories together. As word of our club spread, a few new friends joined. Our little group grew big, united by a shared passion for reading. The simple act of sharing a book reminded us to establish profound connections with the written word. I was grateful to my mom for introducing me to this wonderful world of books.

(24-25高一下·河南信阳固始县永和高中联考·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
As the family watched their favorite TV show together, they heard Mark’s dad’s trademark cough. Every time he heard that sound, Mark’s heart felt heavy. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, trying to focus on the show, but his mind continued to drift to thoughts of all the damage his dad was doing to his lungs by smoking.
Mark just didn’t understand. His dad was a great dad — he spent a lot of his spare time with him playing outside and watching TV. Plus, he was really smart, so why would he be so stupid as to risk his health by smoking so much? What if it caused a serious disease? Had he ever considered how heartbroken it would make him and his mom?
Mark’s mind wandered back to a conversation he had overheard between his parents. His mom had been pleading (恳求) with his dad, her voice full of worry. “You need to think about your health, for Mark’s sake if not for your own,” she had said. But his dad just brushed her off, saying he was too stressed to quit.
One evening, Mark approached his mom to discuss the issue. “I’ve tried to persuade him to quit,” Mark’s mom expressed with a sigh. “But he always gets annoyed whenever I bring up the subject.” She looked tired and defeated. “At least your dad is considerate with his smoking; he never does it indoors or around others. He even changes his clothes when coming home to prevent us from smelling the smoke. Despite that, it’s still so hard on him, on us…”
The next day at school, Mark was playing basketball with his classmate Tim on the court. “Hey, does either of your parents smoke?” he asked. “Yeah, my dad smokes, but he’s cut down in the past year,” replied Tim. “Oh, how did he do that?” Mark asked curiously. “I don’t really know what happened. I guess he just realized it was time for a change,” said Tim, as he threw the ball back to Mark. This gave Mark a ray of hope and an idea.

【答案】
Mark decided to take action, hoping to encourage his dad to change. He sat down at his desk and began to write a heartfelt letter to his dad. In the letter, he expressed his love and concern for his dad’s health, describing how worried he and his mom were about the potential consequences of smoking. He also shared his memories of the happy times they had spent together and how much he wanted his dad to be around for a long time. Finally, he gently suggested that his dad consider quitting smoking for his own good and for the sake of his family.
The next day, Mark found a reply from his dad on his bed. His dad had written a note saying that he had read Mark’s letter carefully and was deeply touched by his son’s love and concern. He admitted that he had been aware of the risks of smoking but had been too weak to quit. However, Mark’s letter had given him the strength and motivation he needed. He promised Mark that he would try his best to quit smoking and would seek help if necessary. Mark was overjoyed to read his dad’s reply and felt a sense of relief wash over him.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落的开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
In a comfortable home, 17-year-old Eric’s life had taken an unexpected turn since he got a new smartphone last month. Once an active and sociable kid who loved sharing his day with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brown, Eric was now spending hours glued to his phone screen.
At the dinner table, which used to be filled with lively conversations, there was now only the occasional sound of Eric tapping on his phone. Mrs. Brown would try to start a chat, asking about his school day or his plans for the weekend, but Eric would just give short, distracted answers without looking up. “Eric, did you hear me? I asked how your math test went,” Mr. Brown said one evening, a hint of annoyance in his voice. “Oh, it was fine, I guess,” Eric mumbled (嘟囔), his eyes still fixed on the screen.
As the days passed, the gap between Eric and his parents grew wider. His grades started to drop, and he no longer showed interest in his old hobbies like soccer or reading. One weekend, when his parents suggested a family hike, Eric refused, saying he was too busy. In reality, he just wanted to stay at home and play mobile games. This led to a big argument. “All you do is stare at that phone! You’re ignoring your family and your responsibilities,” Mr. Brown shouted, his face red with anger. “You don’t understand! My friends are on here, and it’s fun. You’re just being unfair,” Eric talked back, storming out of the room and slamming (砰地关上) the door behind him.
That night, as Eric lay in bed, he stole a look at the family photo on his bedside table. It was a picture of them on a happy vacation, all smiles and full of joy. Memories of the good times they shared flooded his mind. Meanwhile, in their bedroom, Mr. and Mrs. Brown were also reflecting on the situation, worried about their son and the state of their relationship.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】范文
The next morning, Eric woke up with a heavy heart. He thought about how, lately, every meal had been spent with his eyes glued to the screen, responding to messages instead of asking about his parents’ day. The photo on the shelf — taken at the beach last summer, all three of them grinning with sand in their hair — seemed to mock him now. He’d brushed off their attempts to chat, snapped when they asked him to put the phone down, and missed the way their smiles faded each time. So he sincerely apologized to his parents.
Moved by their son’s words, Mr. and Mrs. Brown’s anger disappeared. Mrs. Brown reached across the table to squeeze his hand, her eyes softening. “We noticed you pulling away, but we didn’t know how to reach you,” she said. Mr. Brown nodded, adding, “Let’s start fresh.” That night, they pulled out board games, and Eric laughed as his dad cheated at chess and his mom told silly stories from her childhood. By bedtime, the tension was gone, replaced by a warmth he hadn’t felt in months.

Passage 4
(24-25高一下·河南驻马店部分高中联考·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When I turned 16, my parents gave me a shiny new phone. “Just use it for homework,” Mom said. But soon I used it for everything. I checked social media every 5 minutes. My friend Lena and I stopped talking at lunch—we just showed each other funny pictures on our phones.
Experts say phones are like drugs. I felt it. Every “like” made me happy; every new message made me nervous. By my last year of high school, my phone habit got really bad. During meals, I couldn’t stop looking at my screen. I even checked Instagram secretly during class. My schoolwork got worse, and my parents became upset. One night, I stayed awake until 2 AM watching TikTok videos. The next morning, I walked into school feeling completely sleepy. My teacher talked to me privately and warned, “Your phone’s screen light isn’t just keeping you awake—it’s making you lose concentration.”
One bad thing after another was happening: I failed a test, Dad yelled when he saw me using my phone at 3 AM, and my eyes always hurt. I didn’t stop although my mom worried about my health.
However, one of our family hiking trips changed everything. “No phone signal there any way,” dad declared before we set off. I had to accept things as they were, dragging my feet with boredom. But as we walked up the mountain, the afternoon sunlight bickering (闪烁) through the trees fell on my upturned face, the stunning view tugging at my heartstrings and taking my breath away. I can’t resist an urge to take photos, fishing out my phone and looking for unique angles. Mom gasped and reminded me to be careful as I climbed up. “Just one photo!” I shouted, leaning back to see the view.
Then --- my foot slipped on wet moss (苔藓) . The phone flew out of my hand into a cold river. I fell hard on the rocks. My leg hurt badly as I watched the water carry my pink phone case (手机壳) away. The screen still flashed as the phone sank.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Possible version
My leg hurt, but the pain in my heart was worse. Losing my phone felt like losing my best friend. For days, I kept looking at my hands, waiting for messages that didn’t come. Dad said, “No new phone yet—learn to live without it first.” At school, Lena talked to me, but I just watched others using their phones. My fingers even moved by themselves, seeming like to scroll. At night, I missed watching funny videos. But one morning, I heard raindrops tapping my window—a sound I was quite familiar with before the phone went into my life. Fascinated by the wonderful melody, I was lost in the distant memory.
Slowly I began to enjoy the things around. Without my phone, I laughed louder with Lena during lunch breaks. I noticed how Mom’s cooking smelled better when I wasn’t staring at a screen. My homework became easier without constant message alerts. One weekend, Dad took me hiking again. This time, I listened to the wind instead of taking photos. On my 17th birthday, Mom gave me a notebook. “Write your thoughts here,” she said. It dawned on me that life tastes sweeter when you truly experience it.

Passage 5
(24-25高一下·河南·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Every spring, Mother’s garden turned into a sea of colours dancing in the wind. When I was little, I believed they simply came out of the earth like magic. I never imagined that beauty had to be earned.
That changed when I was six.
One cold, grey afternoon in late November, Mother called me outside. I walked out, wrapped in my thick coat, hoping it wouldn’t take long.
She bent down in the flowerbed, holding a paper bag that smelled like wet earth. “These are flower bulbs(球茎),” she said. “We’re planting them today.”
I looked inside. “They look like onions,” I said.
Mother laughed. “They’re not much to look at now. But with time, care, and patience, they’ll become beautiful flowers by spring.”
I fixed my eyes on the lifeless bulbs, and then on the hard ground. “But it’s freezing(结冰).Nothing’s going to grow here.”
“They will,” she said gently, handing me a trowel(铲子). “If you’re willing to wait.”
Unwillingly, I helped plant them. We dug holes, placed each bulb in like a sleeping child, and covered them with cold soil. When we finished, the garden looked exactly the same: flat, brown, empty.
“So… that’s it?” I asked. “Nothing to show for it?”
“Now, we wait,” she said, cleaning her hands.
I wasn’t very good at waiting.
That winter, I checked the flowerbed constantly. Nearly every morning, the first thing I did was running to the garden to check whether there were some changes. I tried everything I could, like brushing away snow and removing possible threats. “Nothing’s happening!” I complained. “Maybe we did it wrong. Why wait months when you could just buy what you wanted??”
Mother only smiled. “Some things are growing slowly. Give them time.”

However, one morning in March, I saw it—a tiny green shoot.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】参考范文:
By February, I was convinced we’d failed. The ground remained hard and bare, ignoring my daily searches for any sign of life. Snow covered it completely, hiding any possible progress. My earlier complaints grew louder. “They’re frozen forever,” I declared to Mother, kicking uselessly at the icy surface. “We wasted our time!” Mother, however, remained calm, her expression peaceful. “Nature has its own clock,” she reminded me gently. “Trust the process, even when you cannot see it.” Her quiet confidence offered little comfort against my impatient disappointment.
However, one morning in March, I saw it—a tiny green shoot. My heart leaped with sudden joy! I rushed inside, shouting, “Mother, come quick! It’s happening!” We bent together beside the brave little shoot. Then, more shoots followed, growing stronger daily under the warmer sun. By spring, the once empty flowerbed exploded into a familiar sea of colours, dancing joyfully in the wind. Staring at the earned beauty, I finally understood: true wonder isn’t found instantly; it blossoms only through patient faith and persistent care, making the final reward infinitely sweeter.

As I walked through the car park, my heart was heavy. The gray, cloudy sky seemed to match my mood, with a soft wind carrying the faint smell of car fumes. All I could think about was the really bad diagnosis (诊断) I had just received for my patient, Jimmy. It was pancreatic (胰腺的) cancer, a diagnosis that usually brought great sadness. I had seen the shock and fear in his eyes, and it made me feel useless. I kicked a small stone on the ground, angry at how unfair everything was. Just then, I noticed an old man standing beside a broken-down car. He was passing tools to someone working under the vehicle. To my surprise, it was Jimmy.
“Jimmy, what are you doing?” I shouted, running towards them. My mind was spinning (眩晕), wondering how Jimmy could be here helping after such terrible news. Jimmy came out from under the car, brushing dirt off his pants. His face was covered with oil, but his eyes were full of light. “My cancer didn’t stop me from helping others, Doc,” he said with a smile. Then he turned back to the old man and gave him a thumbs-up, telling him to try starting the car. The old man nervously turned the key, and after a few coughs, the engine started with a loud noise.
The old man’s face lit up with joy. He jumped out of the car and, with tears in his eyes, took Jimmy’s hand, shaking it firmly. “Thank you so much, young man. I was really in trouble. I’m on my way to see my sick wife in the hospital,” he said, his voice full of gratitude. Jimmy just smiled and shrugged (耸耸肩), as if it were no big deal. “Glad I could help,” he replied. The old man got back into his car and drove away, waving goodbye. Jimmy then made his way towards his car.

【答案】
I followed closely, still in total shock. I just couldn’t understand how he could be out here helping after receiving such bad news about his cancer. Jimmy stopped and looked at me. He said that when he first heard about his cancer, he felt like giving up. But then he thought, if he didn’t have much time left, he wanted to do something good. Helping the old man with his broken-down car made him feel truly alive. It gave him a reason to stay strong and keep going.
I stood there, listening attentively to Jimmy’s words. His voice was steady, yet it carried the weight of new-found purpose. I watched as he opened his car door, his movements were filled with calm determination. In that moment, I realized that Jimmy’s act of kindness wasn’t just a usual good deed. It was his way of defying the darkness of his diagnosis. This encounter taught me that kindness is a powerful force that can change despair into hope, not only for those we help but also for ourselves.

Passage 2
(24-25高一下·河南许昌·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
“Why are we going back to the bank?” I asked my mother. The five of us — my mother, three brothers and I — had just returned home. We mailed letters, did some shopping and got some money from the bank. Staying in the car with my younger brothers all morning was terrible anyway, and besides that, it was a hot day and the car’s seats were old and uncomfortable. Our little house, with the white bed covers hanging from the clothesline in the backyard, was a welcomed sight.
As a reward for good behavior all morning, my mother had promised to take us to our aunt’s pool for an afternoon of swimming. My brothers and I had got out of the old car toward the home when we were brought to a stop by our mother’s voice. “Everyone back in the car,” she said. “We are going back to the bank.”
I had only two things on my twelve-year-old mind — lunch and swimming. Although my aunt and uncle lived down the street, it was unusual for us to be invited over for a swim. Since pools in this part of the country were uncommon, this was an opportunity (机会) not to be missed. I couldn’t wait to get in the water to work on what I called my water ballet moves and maybe build up enough courage to div e off the diving board. All we had to do was eat a quick sandwich, put on our swimsuits and go. And now, we had to get back in the car?
Going back to the bank could take at least two hours. I asked my mother, “Can’t we go back tomorrow? We want to go swimming.” My mother replied calmly, “We are going back to the bank.” A couple of hours later, my mother parked the car in front of the bank. The bank was a two-story building. I stayed close to my mother’s side as we walked toward the tellers’ (出纳员的) windows. My mother looked from one teller to the next until she saw the teller at the end of the long counter (柜台) .

【答案】
“You gave me one hundred dollars too much,” my mother said. Her voice was firm yet polite, and I could see the teller’s eyes widen in surprise. He quickly checked the transaction records and then, with a sheepish smile, apologized and took back the extra money. My mother’s honesty and integrity in that moment left a deep impression on me. She had chosen to return the money, even though it meant sacrificing our precious swimming time. I realized then that doing the right thing was more important than any leisure activity.
On our way home, I said to my mother, “I’m proud of you, mom.” She turned to me with a warm smile, her eyes reflecting a sense of satisfaction. “It’s important to be honest, no matter what,” she said gently. “Money can be replaced, but integrity is priceless.” I nodded, understanding the lesson she had just taught me. Although we missed our swim that day, I felt a sense of pride and contentment knowing that my mother had acted with such honor. Her actions had shown me the true meaning of honesty and had set an example for me to follow in my own life.

Passage 3
(24-25高一下·河南三门峡·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I saw a display of gratitude journals at the local bookstore one day after school. I decided to buy one of them. My plan was that from January 1, I would write five things every day that I was grateful for in my life. I looked forward to sharing my colorful life with my journal.
Starting the journal was fun, and I found five things to be grateful for every day without any problem at all. With my life sailing along so joyfully, it was easy to be grateful. I enjoyed the simple pleasure of sitting at my room every evening and writing my five entries. I entered the names of new friends my family met and the musicals we saw together, the new restaurants we tried, the touching things that my friend said to me, the exciting things that they were doing, and the encouraging comments from my parents. The words spilled on and on from my pen.
However, my life changed quickly and unexpectedly. On a Saturday afternoon in early February, there was a knock on my door that changed my life forever. When I opened the door, two men who worked with my father stood in front of me with sad expressions on their faces. They told me that my father had been found on the floor in his office and taken to the hospital. Sadly, it was too late. My father had already left.
Keeping my gratitude journal wasn’t so easy after that. Through February and March, the pages of my journal stayed empty. I was too filled with fear and sorrow to make room for gratitude. As several weeks went by, I began to realize that it was during the hard times that we most needed to find and acknowledge the good things in our life. We are not expected to be thankful for all circumstances, but we are to be thankful in all circumstances.

【答案】One possible version:
I decided to take on the challenge of being thankful and positive in the midst of my sorrow. I didn’t want to be the kind of person who gave up on life. Once again I sat down at the end of the day and tried to find five things that I was grateful for and write them in my journal. What had been so easy before my father’s death became a nightly struggle. What had been a joyful family atmosphere was replaced by silence and tears, and when I tried to write what I was grateful for, my mind was filled with the sadness in my life. Though trapped in the sea of sorrow, I was eager that gratitude would shine into my heart like a ray of sunlight.
One evening, I remembered crying and writing “I’m glad that this day is over.” five times. These new entries into my journal were like a baby’s first steps. They were shaking but determined, and often ended with a fall. However, I kept on and slowly my gratefulness for life returned. By making myself write something every day, I forced my soul to see and feel the good mixed within my pain. I still cried into my pillow some nights but I began to understand that I was lucky to have so many memories that were worth crying about.

Shanti longed for the wooden doll in Ramu’s toy shop for weeks. The one with the red dress that shone in the sunlight. Determined to buy it, she came up with a plan. She would make jasmine garlands (茉莉花环) and sell them at her aunt’s market stand. Her best friend Jodi was eager to join her.
Early the next morning, the girls met at the jasmine garden outside of Shanti’s house. Delicate white flowers surrounded them with fresh scents. They nipped (掐) flowers with their fingers and dropped them into a basket. Then the girls sat under a mango tree and knotted the flowers into garlands. Shanti could already picture herself holding that doll, imagining the joy of owning it. “If we sell enough, we can each buy one,” she said with a smile. But Jodi shook her head. She explained that her family was struggling financially that week, and instead of using her earnings for a doll, she would buy medicine for her sick little brother, Kiran. She then picked up her garlands. “My mother is expecting me. I’ll meet you at the market.”
Later, Shanti spent the afternoon selling her garlands while waiting for Jodi. By evening, Shanti had sold all of hers, but there was still no sign of her friend. Just as Shanti was heading home, she spotted Jodi coming to the market with her garlands, looking exhausted. Jodi explained that she had been taking care of Kiran while her mother was at work, and that’s why she was late.
Shanti’s heart sank as she realized her friend wouldn’t be able to make enough money for the medicine in time. She looked at the small amount of money she had earned, which had been meant for the doll she had dreamed of for so long. In that moment, the desire for the doll seemed so insignificant. Without a second thought, she handed Jodi the money. “Keep this for Kiran’s medicine,” Shanti said softly. Jodi’s eyes were filled with gratitude, but Shanti smiled, knowing she had made the right choice.

Passage 2
(24-25高一下·河南商丘·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
The annual school hiking trip was something many students looked forward to. This year, the destination was Mount Green, a forest-covered hill about 1,000 meters high, known for its fresh air, gentle slopes (山坡), and beautiful views. Kevin was especially excited. He loved nature and had just bought a new camera to shoot the breathtaking view at the top of the mountain.
The weather was perfect. The sky was clear, birds were singing, and the students laughed all the way. Kevin walked with his new friend Leo, who had never gone on a long hike before. Kevin promised to stay with him during the trip. At first, Leo seemed fine and even joked about reaching the top faster than Kevin. But after about an hour of climbing, Leo began to fall behind.
Kevin noticed that Leo was sweating heavily and looked pale (苍白的). “Are you OK?” Kevin asked. Leo nodded but didn’t say anything. When the class reached a resting point, one of the teachers came over. “Leo, you don’t look well. Maybe you should take a break here while the rest of the class finish the last part of the climb,” she suggested. “I’ll stay with you.”
Leo agreed, though clearly disappointed.
Now Kevin faced a dilemma (窘境). He had been longing for this trip for weeks and couldn’t wait to take pictures at the top of the mountain. But he also wanted to stay with Leo as he had promised. Most of the classmates were already getting ready to continue. Kevin looked at his friend, who gave him a weak smile and said, “Don’t worry. I’ll be fine.”
Kevin’s camera hung around his neck, but for the first time that day, taking photos didn’t seem that important anymore. Kevin took a deep breath and told the teacher about his decision.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
Kevin walked over and sat beside Leo. “I’m not leaving you behind,” he said firmly. Leo looked surprised, and then smiled weakly. “Thanks,” he whispered. Kevin handed him a bottle of water and took out some snacks from his bag. They chatted quietly while listening to the birds around them. Though Kevin still wished he could take photos from the top, he felt this moment mattered more. Being a good friend meant more than reaching the peak. He was glad he stayed.
When the class returned, they found Kevin still sitting with Leo. Some classmates came over to check on Leo and praised Kevin for his choice. “You missed the view,” one girl said. Kevin shrugged and replied, “I think I got something better.” Leo gave him a grateful look. As they walked back together, Kevin felt proud. He hadn’t taken a single photo on the mountaintop that day, but he had captured something more important—true friendship. And that, he thought, was worth more than any picture.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Oliver and his father were doing their weekly shopping in the nearby supermarket when he noticed a leather wallet on the ground. After picking it up curiously, Oliver found a bookstore logo on the surface, which reminded him of his part-time-job experience working at a bookstore during college.
In addition, he found a large amount of cash and a business card with a phone number on it. Oliver and his father had been living a poor life all together although his father worked hard each day. Oliver had been struggling with unemployment while actively looking for a new job.
“What if I keep the wallet?” he said to himself, the thought of financial relief crossing his mind. “I could use the money to do something.” Yet, a wave of guilt washed over him. “But Father would be annoyed if I…” he thought, holding the wallet tightly. Noticing his hesitation, Oliver’s father asked what was wrong. He told his father about the wallet and his inner struggle. With a gentle but firm voice, his father reminded him of the values, “We shouldn’t keep what isn’t ours, Oliver.”
Oliver’s face turned red with a mix of emotions. “We have bills without steady income monthly, and this could be a turning point,” he responded. His father admitted their difficulties but encouraged him to think about the right thing to do, saying, “Returning it could bring you unexpected good luck.”
Finally, Oliver decided to call the number on the business card. The owner was an elderly man, who was very grateful to take his wallet back. He explained that the money inside was prepared for his son Noah, which was important for his new business-a bookstore he was planning to open. As Oliver walked away, he felt a sense of fulfillment (成就感) from doing the right thing, but he continued to worry about his own job search and financial situation.

【答案】示例:
Oliver received an unexpected phone call several weeks later. It was from Noah, the elderly man’s son, who spoke in a happy and warm tone. “Your honesty really touched my father,” he said. “We are opening a bookstore next month and need someone we can trust to help run it.” Oliver’s heart beat fast — this was the chance he had been waiting for. When he said he didn’t have much experience, Noah laughed softly and replied, “Being a good person is more important.” Oliver felt very excited and agreed to meet for an interview. After hanging up, he remembered his father’s words about “good luck coming from doing the right thing”. Maybe life did reward those who made honest choices, even when it was difficult.
Oliver was appointed manager of Noah’s new bookstore soon. The job not only helped with his money problems but also made him love books again. Noah, who admired Oliver’s hard work, even offered him a share of the store’s profits. As Oliver watched customers look through the books he had carefully chosen, he realized how one honest decision had changed his future. His father, both proud and playful, would say, “I told you it would work out.” Years later, when Oliver talked to a young worker who was having a hard time, he shared Noah’s lesson: “Good character opens doors that skills alone cannot.” The wallet he had once thought about keeping had, in the end, given him more than he had ever expected.

Passage 1
(24-25高一下·河南周口黄泛区部分学校·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I used to love collecting pig figurines (小雕塑) more than anything else. Each one was special in its own way — the smooth china pigs that caught the light just right, the glass ones that shone like morning dew in the sunlight...They weren’t just decorations; they were my little treasures that made me smile whenever I looked at them. My favorite was a tiny china pig wearing a ballet dress.
But something has changed over the years. What started as my personal joy became everyone else’s easy gift idea. Birthdays, Christmases, and even random Tuesdays — suddenly every gift I received had something to do with pigs. “You love pigs, right?” my friends would say while handing me yet another pig-shaped salt shaker or pig-printed socks. My shelves became crowded with gifts I would have never chosen for myself. The worst was a pink pig night light that made scary patterns on my bedroom walls.
“You did say you liked pigs,” my cousin reminded me when I hesitated before accepting a particularly ugly pig figurine with cross-eyes. I forced a smile, but inside I wanted to cry. My special collection had turned into a burden (负担), a mountain of responsibilities instead of happiness.
One rainy afternoon, I saw the cross-eyed pig figurine while cleaning my bookshelf. At that moment, I was suddenly caught by anger — at my cousin, at the endless stream of thoughtless gifts,at myself for never saying “enough”. I took the figurine in one hand and marched outside, ready to throw it away. But my hand stopped in mid-air. Was I really going to throw away a piece of someone’s effort?
That’s when an idea hit me: the community’s yearly fundraiser (募捐活动) for the Children’s Home was coming up. Standing in the rain with the ugly pig figurine in my hand, I realized throwing it away wouldn’t solve anything. Instead, I decided to give it — and all the other unwanted pig gifts — a new life. I called the Children’s Home and suggested turning my collection into fundraiser items.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
At the fundraiser, I held my breath as children approached.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
With the director’s positive (肯定的) response, I began working on the pigs. That night, I collected all the unwanted pig gifts. Each evening after work, I worked on them with paint and creativity, while my family helped make tiny costumes from worn clothes and the most imaginative decorations. The cross-eyed pig became “Professor Piglet ” wearing tiny glasses made of wire. The scary night light got a galaxy makeover with glow-in-the-dark paint. Even the pig socks were repurposed as creative plant holders. On the eve of the fundraiser, my “Piggy Wonderland” featured 23 transformed pigs, each with a story card.
At the fundraiser, I held my breath as children approached. My worry turned out to be unnecessary. The children’s eyes widened with pleasure as they discovered each transformed pig. “Look! A space pig!” one boy shouted, grabbing the galaxy nightlight. A shy girl gently picked up Professor Piglet, whispering how it reminded her of her favorite teacher. Within an hour, all the 23 pigs found new owners, raising enough money to buy books and toys for the Children’s Home. As I watched the children leave happily with their new treasures, I’ve realized what is my burden can become someone else’s joy and that true happiness doesn’t come from keeping things, but from sharing them with others.

My parents ran a small grocery store near my house in San Francisco. They always kept a big box by the entrance where people could donate cans of soup and stuff to our local food bank.
“For some reason, our food-donation box just isn’t filling up lately, ”said my dad. “Maybe it’s time to think of a way to remind folks about the food bank, ” replied my mom. We talked about having fireworks, but Mom smilingly said it was a little outside our budget. Dad suggested a talent show because it was fun and people could pay for tickets with food donations. We all gladly agreed.
Word for the talent show got out. While my parents posted information online about the event, we kids made some signs. My friend Mareya came over to help out. “I’d like to do an act in the show, but I don’t know what to do, ” I told Mareya. “Well, since the food-bank thing is about sharing, ” said Mareya, “Why not write a song about that? ” I told Mareya that writing a song was not a problem. But I’d be too nervous to sing it. Plus, I didn’t think I was good enough! She shrugged. “What if we sang it together? ”
Since Mareya had the world’s prettiest voice and also happened to play the guitar, I agreed. The act would be a huge success. You wouldn’t believe how many people came by the store over the next week to sign up to perform: dancers, Hula-Hoopers, banjo players, comedians, poets, and a boy who did tricks with his adorable poodles Salt and Pepper!
Mareya and I practiced and practiced, and I was feeling pretty good about our act. But on the morning of the performance, Mareya called with bad news. She had a serious stomachache and was not in any shape to perform.

【答案】 Para 1: “There’s no way I’m going on without you,” I told her. But Mareya insisted that I should perform alone. “You’ve practiced so hard, and the song is beautiful. The audience will love it,” she encouraged me. Though my heart was pounding, I decided to give it a try. As I stepped onto the stage, the spotlight felt blinding, and my hands trembled. I took a deep breath and began to sing. To my surprise, the audience started clapping along, and their smiles gave me the courage to continue. By the end of the song, the room erupted in applause. I couldn’t believe I had done it!
Para 2: Once I was off the stage, ashamed, my mom wrapped me in a big hug. “You were amazing!” she said, her eyes shining with pride. I told her how nervous I had been and how I almost didn’t go through with it. “But you did, and that’s what matters,” she replied. Just then, Mareya called again. She had been listening to the performance over the phone and was thrilled. “I knew you could do it!” she exclaimed. The event was a huge success, and the donation box was overflowing with cans of soup and other items. I realized that sometimes, stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to something truly special.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语,续写两段使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Another wildly bright lightning along with a thunder cracked in the sky! Mary swiftly threw herself into her Mum’s arms, burying her face into her chest and trembling with fright. “I think we should leave here right away!” She murmured in a crying tone. Instantly, Dad refused her request again for the fact that the city had already been flooded severely. As he saw through their window, the almost three-meter-high floodwater had already surrounded the apartment building like a wide river, several cars floating on it just like boats.
“Black out!” Mary gasped fearfully, the wind roaring and the rain beating on the roof and windows, which made her even more nervous in the whole darkness. Mum took Mary’s hand and carefully led her to sit on the sofa, trying her best to comfort her. While she performed calmly, Mary could tell she was nervous too. “Let’s try to find a light source first and then see what other supplies we have.” Dad made an arrangement. Luckily, there was a flashlight, some packages of instant noodles, bread and some drinking water, which may help them get through the toughness for the half of the night. Without saying a single word, Dad turned on the flashlight, sat down and hugged his wife and daughter. The sudden silence in the house seemed to make the wind and rain more frightening outside. Only the light of the flashlight could now give them some warmth and a sense of little hope.
“What about Mrs. Thomson? Old and weak, she must be extremely helpless.” Mum said with great concern when she thought about their nice neighbor who lived alone upstairs of the same building. After a brief discussion, Mum and Dad decided they should go and check whether Mrs. Thomson was fire. Mary, with heavy breath and pounding heart, stood up immediately, ready to bring all their supplies to Mrs. Thomson’s house.注意:

【答案】 In the darkness, they supported each other and went upstairs step by step with the light of the flashlight. The water had already seeped into the stairwell, making each step slippery and dangerous. Mary clung tightly to her parents’hands, her heart pounding with a mix of fear and determination. When they finally reached Mrs. Thomson’s door, Dad knocked gently but firmly. After what felt like an eternity, the door creaked open, revealing Mrs. Thomson’s frightened face. “Thank goodness you’re here!” she whispered, her voice trembling. They quickly helped her gather her essential belongings and led her back downstairs to their apartment, where they all huddled together, finding comfort in each other's presence.
Suddenly, a bunch of searching light from a rescue boat flashed across Mrs. Thomson’s window. “Look!” Mary exclaimed, pointing excitedly. Dad grabbed the flashlight and waved it back and forth, signaling for help. Within minutes, they heard the sound of voices and the gentle lapping of the boat against the building. The rescue team arrived just in time, helping them all into the boat and to safety. As they sailed away from the flooded apartment, Mary looked back, feeling grateful for the bravery and love that had kept them together through the storm.

In the peaceful village of Greenfield, surrounded with rolling hills, lived two curious and adventurous twins, Lily and Leo. At the age of eleven, the inseparable twins were always seeking new and exciting adventures.
One morning, Mr. Thompson, their favorite teacher, was introducing volunteer work. Leo suddenly caught sight of the hill behind the schoolyard and was instantly inspired with the idea of climbing to the top.
“Lily,” whispered Leo. “Wouldn’t it be amazing if we climbed to the top of that hill today? It’s said to hold breathtaking views of our lovely village.” Hearing that, Lily’s lace lit up with excitement, her heart filled with eagerness. “Oh, Leo. that sounds fantastic!”.
With determination in their hearts, the twins worked out a plan. As they walked along the path, they noticed colorful trash scattered about, which ruined the natural beauty surrounding them.
A brilliant idea flashed into Lily’s mind. “Why don’t we pick up the litter along the way? We could clean up our beloved countryside.”
Excited by the idea, the twins eagerly collected the scattered items. As they reached the foot of the hill, their bags heavy with the collected waste, they came across a recycling center. With excitement, they exchanged their findings for shiny coins. With newfound treasures in their pockets, they climbed up the hill.
When they reached the top, they were greeted by a breathtaking view of Greenfield. “It’s so beautiful!” Leo burst out. “We must share our adventure with Mr. Thompson and our classmates!”

Passage 1
(24-25高一下·河南鹤壁·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
David Souza, a snowmobiler in Colorado’s Vail Pass Recreation Area, was lucky to be alive after being buried (掩埋) in a snowslide for over an hour. Thanks to the rapid response of the Summit County Rescue Group (SCRG) and their skilled search dogs, the man was found aware and breathing-an amazing survival story.
At 12:11 pm on February 17, two men were snowmobiling in the Shrine Bowl area when they accidentally caused a snowslide. David was completely buried, and his friend called 911 at once and began searching for him.
The snowslide, thought at 150 meters wide and 100 meters long, occurred during a “high” snowslide risk day (rated 4 out of 5) by the Colorado Avalanche Information Center following heavy storms.
SCRG responded quickly, organizing four dog teams and 27 rescuers. Additional support came from the Rapid Avalanche Deployment team, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, and snowslide specialists from Copper Mountain Ski Area. However, bad winter conditions prevented a Flight for Life helicopter from approaching.
Snowslide experts warned that survival rates would drop sharply after just 15 minutes under the snow, making the rescue effort a race against time.
Time seemed to fly away without being noticed. Buried under the snow, David huddled (蜷缩) in his airbag that became smaller and smaller under the pressure of snow. Each breath was a struggle against the biting cold, and he felt he could hardly wait any longer. Still, he didn’t give up hope, telling himself to hold on in a low voice.
Above ground, a search dog named Lightning suddenly cried wildly at a snowbank, excitedly scratching at the snow. Noticing that, a rescuer came with doubt in his mind, only to see a small piece of bright-color cloth sticking out of the snow. It was 1:13 pm-about an hour after the burial, just when all seemed lost. He pulled it and realized it was part of the man’s air-filled snowslide airbag. “We’ve got something!” the rescuer called out loudly.

【答案】One possible version:
Hearing that, more rescuers quickly came over. They started digging tirelessly yet carefully with whatever tools they could find and even bare hands, their breath forming clouds in the frozen air. Another ten minutes passed before they finally uncovered David. To everyone’s surprise, although David’s lips were pale and his body shook from coldness, he was aware of the overall situation and able to speak. “I never thought I would make it,” he whispered, his voice weak but filled with relief. “Many thanks to each of you.”
David was sent to the hospital by ambulance (救护车) immediately. In the hospital, he received further examination and careful treatment from the doctors and nurses. As he recovered, he couldn’t stop thinking about the unique and hair-raising experience. Every time he closed his eyes, he could still feel the cold snow surrounding him. This incident wasn’t just about his lucky escape; it highlighted the power of teamwork, the skill of rescuers, and the unwavering hope that can turn despair into survival, reminding us all that even in the face of nature’s threat, there’s always hope.

Passage 2
(24-25高一下·河南濮阳·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Joe lived behind the washing house. All the neighborhood children were afraid of him. We avoided Joe when he came out of his house, which was small enough to be a playhouse. He kept his car parked outside the fence that separated the narrow path from his tiny yard. His car was nicer than most cars in the small town, and Joe kept it clean. He even cleaned the door handle (把手) with a piece of cloth when he closed the door and locked it. I played on the path and the empty field with other children, but we tried to stay away from Joe’s car.
One day, while riding my newly obtained, used bike, I hit a muddy hole near Joe’s car. I was so concerned about splashing (溅起) mud on his clean car that I fell. I was frightened as my handles touched the side of Joe’s car. The other children ran away immediately.
Joe ran out of his house as he had been sitting at the window, playing cards and watching outside from time to time. “Well, child,” Joe said. “Was it worth it?” He stopped, looking at the big scratches (划痕) on his car. “Are you hurt?”
I was hurt. There was a serious wound on my left knee and my right leg had a deep scratch. But I dared not admit that. “I’m okay. Please, I’m sorry. I tried to avoid your car. I did. I really did.”
“You come with me,” Joe said. I didn’t know what would happen but I didn’t dare to say no. He led me into his house while holding the back of my T-shirt.
“Sit here,” Joe ordered. Then he went into another room.
My heart raced and I paid no attention to my pain. I was so frightened that I could hardly breathe. I tried to figure out what was going to happen, expecting something more terrible than I could deal with.

To my surprise, Joe returned with a medical kit minutes later.

The next day, I went to Joe’s again.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
To my surprise, Joe returned with a medical kit minutes later. He placed it on the table, opened it, and took out cotton pads and medicine. “Don’t be scared,” he said, bending down to clean the wound on my knee. His movements were gentle, unlike the strict figure I had imagined. When he wrapped the bandage, he asked about my bike. I told him it might have been damaged in the fall. “We can check it later,” he said, patting me on the shoulder. His kindness made me realize maybe we had misunderstood him. After all that, Joe opened the door and said goodbye to me.
The next day, I went to Joe’s again. This time, I brought a handwritten apology note and a box of cookies. Joe was washing his car, and he smiled when he saw me. He showed me the repaired bike beside the fence — he had fixed the handles and oiled the chain. “Mistakes are just scratches,” he said, returning the bike to me. As I rode away, I understood that true kindness lies in seeing beyond appearances. The unexpected experience taught me not to fear others, but to feel the warmth hidden under cold looks.

Passage 1
(24-25高一下·河南信阳普通高中·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
As wildfires burned across most of the structures and many of the homes, two mothers launched a project to reunite homeless children with their beloved stuffed toys(毛绒玩具)。
Randi and Jenny created the Lost Stuffy Project, which raises funds to buy new versions of stuffed toys lost in the fires. Randi, serving as a child life specialist and a mom of two, said the idea for Lost Stuffy Project came to her because she knows firsthand how important comfort items can be for kids.
“I’ve just been thinking about what we can do and how we can help these kids and these families, and immediately, I thought of comfort items—stuffed toys” Randi said. “We know that comfort items are key to kids—young kids all the way up through young adults,” she continued. “When families are displaced or experiencing psychological damage, obviously there’s no control at all. So, this is such a small way to give kids back their control.”
Recently, an appeal landed in their hands. A letter from a sad family told the story of their 4-year-old child, Noah, who had lost his most cherished stuffed unicorn(独角兽)in the wildfires. Ever since then, Noah had been unable to be comforted, constantly asking for his magical friend.
Randi and Jenny, determined as ever, immediately set out to find a replacement. However, it soon became apparent that this would be no easy task. They searched toy stores both online and offline, contacted numerous manufacturers, but in vain. The particular unicorn Noah had lost was an old-fashioned toy and finding an exact or even a closely similar match seemed almost impossible. Despite the huge difficulties, the two mothers refused to give up, their determination only strengthening in the face of this new challenge.

Without hesitation, they decided to create a handmade unicorn with the community’s help. They posted an urgent notice on various social media platforms, appealing to anyone with handicraft skills to join them. To their delight, responses poured in rapidly. Some volunteers designed a unique unicorn based on the photo, and successfully brought the design to life. Others helped gather the necessary materials. Together, they worked tirelessly, inspired by Noah’s longing for his lost toy. After days of hard work, a beautiful unicorn, almost identical to the one the child had lost, took shape.
A few days later, a letter arrived at Randi and Jenny’s mailbox. As they opened it eagerly, a photo dropped, showing a 4-year-old child smiling with joy, tightly hugging the newly-made unicorn. The mother’s letter was filled with gratitude. She wrote, “Words can’t express how much this unicorn means to our family. Thank you so much for your kindness and devotion. Your project has not only brought a toy to my child but also given our family the strength to move forward.” Holding the letter and the photo, Randi and Jenny felt a deep sense of fulfillment. They knew that their efforts were making a real difference.

Anika pulled her wheeled suitcase behind her as she followed her parents through the airport. She was very excited, and maybe just a little nervous. She hugged her favorite doll tight. That made her feel better.
She walked down the narrow aisle of the plane to find her seat with her parents. The tall flight attendant smiled at her and asked where they were going. “Walt Disney World,” Anika said with a smile. “I thought so,” replied the flight attendant. “Most of the families on this flight are heading that way.” She pointed to her name tag. “I’m Leanne. You let me know if you and your pretty doll friend need anything.”
“Thanks. I’m Anika, and this is Pansy,” said Anika, holding the doll up to show her.
“Nice to meet you both,” replied Leanne.
The flight was going to be a few hours. Anika asked Leanne for a pillow. The flight attendant returned with a pillow, a blanket, and a sleep mask to cover her eyes. Anika placed Pansy under the blanket with her and settled in with the pillow. She fell asleep quickly. Soon, it was time to land. They had arrived! Leanne walked past them, collecting the pillows and blankets from passengers as she went.
“Did you have a good nap?” she asked.
“Oh yes,” replied Anika.
“Maybe I will see you next week on your return flight home.” Leanne smiled.
The flight attendant said goodbye to Anika and her parents. “Have a wonderful trip!” She continued saying goodbye to the other passengers as they left the plane.
As Leanne shook out the blankets she had gathered from the seats, she was surprised when a doll fell out onto the floor. She picked it up and recognized it as the doll young Anika had shown her. She thought about chasing after the family, but she had many duties to complete before she could leave the airplane.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
When Anika arrived at the hotel, she was eager to show Pansy around. Anika searched through her backpack, her heart pounding with excitement, only to find Pansy gone. Her parents searched everywhere, but the doll was nowhere to be found. To keep Anika from getting too upset, her father gently patted her shoulder and said, “Anika, your Pansy will turn up somewhere soon. But for now, how about we go out and have some fun?” Anika reluctantly nodded. During the week-long vacation, she tried to enjoy herself, yet every night when she lay in bed, the memory of Pansy made her eyes well up with tears.
On the return flight, missing her doll friend, Anika spotted Leanne unexpetedly. The flight attendant walked over with a bright smile, her hand already reaching into her bag. Leanne pulled out Pansy, the doll’s familiar face bringing instant relief to Anika’s eyes. “Where did you find her?” Anika blurted out, her voice trembling with excitement. Leanne explained, “I found her when I was collecting the blankets. I kept her safe, knowing we’d possibly meet again.” Anika buried her face In Pansy, tears of happiness staining the doll’s soft fabric. This kind act by Leanne didn’t just bring back a toy — it showed Anika that a little kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life.

Passage 1
(24-25高一下·河南信阳浉河区信阳高级中学·期末)

I decided to take on the challenge of being thankful and positive in the midst of my sorrow.

四、助人为乐与善意

Passage 2
(24-25高一下·河南开封·期末)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

六、困境与救援

七、社会温情与责任

Passage 1
Passage 2
Passage 3
Passage 4
Passage 5
二、亲情与家庭
Passage 1
Passage 2
Passage 3

Passage 2
Passage 3
四、助人为乐与善意
Passage 1
Passage 2

Passage 1
Passage 2
【答案】One possible version:
Paragraph 1:
The next morning, Lily and Leo returned to school, eager to meet Mr. Thompson. The moment they saw Mr. Thompson, they excitedly told him what they had done. Mr. Thompson listened carefully and praised them satisfiedly. Then an idea hit him. Mr. Thompson gathered the class together and asked mysteriously, “Would you like to experience an adventure and at the same time bring cleanliness to the village as a volunteer?” Each student was excited with wide eyes, hands raising high, shouting, “Me! Me!”
Paragraph 2:
The following weekend, the entire class started to clean up their lovely village. They happily ran up the hill with bags of garbage in their hands and competed to see whose bag could be full first.
Passage 2
