Eco-Schools offers schools a meaningful way to engage with environmental issues, creating positive change in both their communities and within the school itself. Over the years, it has left a lasting impact on students, their families, teachers, and local authorities alike. For the past 30 years of the YRE programmes, international competition and global network have been equipping and guiding future leaders to investigate environmental issues and drive positive, solution-focused change. Celebrations are already underway in many countries. Have a look at some of the ways our schools and national operators are marking the anniversary Uzbekistan The‌ “From Field to Table” eco-festival took place in Nukus, Uzbekistan, in honor of World Food Day. A highlight of the event was the raising of the Eco-Schools Green Flag, celebrating eight new Eco-Schools in Uzbekistan for their efforts for sustainability Canada has a variety of options. We hand selected these sites for you because camping is such an important part of the summer experience in our country. Pacific Rim National Park The main draw: Long Beach is the best Pacific experience—22 kilometres of sand with a horizon that disappears into the ocean. The campsites here sit very close to the ocean. Things to do: Start by exploring the beach. Of course, you can also go for a swim, but be aware that the water is about 10℃. If you’re into surfing, there are almost always waves at Long Beach. Grey whales spend the summer in the waters just offshore, providing whale watching opportunities. Alice Lake Provincial Park The main draw: What this small park lacks in size, it makes up for in location, sitting just north of Squamish — “Canada’s Outdoor Recreation Capital”. Campground paths link into the area’s world-class mountain-biking network. Things to do: You can warm up for Squamish mountain biking with a three-kilometre ride starting just outside the campground. You can also cool off with a swim in Alice Lake or relax on its sandy beaches. And don’t miss Squamish’s Howe Sound restaurant here, you can try their delicious wood-fired pizza. Mount Robson Provincial Park The main draw: There’s no better place to admire the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies than at the Berg Lake Campground. The campground is located beside a small lake that contains mini icebergs that have broken off from a glacier (冰川) on the mountain above. Things to do: The Berg Lake area has several world-class hikes. The Snowbird Pass hike is a tough 22-kilometre round trip. The lake provides a peaceful and beautiful environment for visitors to boat and enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery. Peter Lougheed Provincial Park The main draw: This camping area in Alberta’s Kananaskis Country is popular with the locals. It has all the characteristics you get in nearby Banff, but without the crowds. You can only reach it by hiking for about three kilometres. Things to do: Besides fishing, you can relax in the flower-filled fields and enjoy nice mountain views at South Kananaskis Pass. Use kayaks (皮划艇) to explore the shoreline of Upper Kananaskis Lake. 16. What can visitors do in Pacific Rim-National Park? A. Enjoy fishing. B. Watch grey whales. C. Try mountain biking. D. Eat a wood-fired pizza. 17. If you want to go for world-class hikes, you can explore ________. A. Pacific Rim National Park B. Alice Lake Provincial Park C. Mount Robson Provincial Park D. Peter Lougheed Provincial Park 18. What do the four parks have in common? A. They all offer water activities. B. They all have peaceful campsites. C. They all feature beautiful mountain views. D. They all make good destinations for hiking. 16. B 17. C 18. If you’re into surfing, there are almost always waves at Long Beach.(从探索海滩开始。 如果你喜欢冲浪,长滩几乎总是有海浪)”,Alice Lake Provincial Park部分“ You can also cool off with a swim in Alice Lake or relax on its sandy beaches. (你也可以在爱丽丝湖游泳降温,或者在沙滩上放松)”,Mount Robson Provincial Park部分“The lake provides a peaceful and beautiful environment for visitors to boat and enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery.(湖提供了一个宁静而美丽的环境,供游客划船和欣赏周围的山景)”和Peter Lougheed Provincial Park部分“Use kayaks (皮划艇) to explore the shoreline of Upper Kananaskis Lake.(使用皮划艇探索上卡纳纳斯基湖的海岸线)”可知,四个公园都提供了水上活动。故选A。 Passage 3 (24-25高一下·北京海淀·期末) We’ve all struggled with poorly-timed distractions. You’re sting at a desk, studying intently, and then: wham! Unrelated thoughts—breakfast this morning, the funny movie you saw last week, or that upcoming presentation you’re nervous about—invade your mind. Or maybe you’re totally immersed in your work, but your roommates barge into your study space at an inconvenient moment. These internal and external distractions cause us to lose focus. The techniques outlined below will help you maximize your focused study time. ● ____________________________________ Unless your friends happen to be good study partners, study alone. If you’re studying at home, choose a quiet room with limited clutter (杂物). Post a sign on your door telling roommates or family members to stay away. If your home environment is distracting, gather your study supplies and head over to a comfortable study spot. If distracting background noises bother you, pick up some noise-canceling headphones and turn on a study playlist (preferably instrumental) or white noise. Create the best possible environment for studying before you open your books so that you don’t have to pause mid-session to make a change. ● ____________________________________ If you’re studying attentively, you’re going to get thirsty. Grab a beverage before you open the book. You may even need a power snack while you’re working, so grab some brain food, too. Use the bathroom, put on comfortable clothes (but not too cozy), and set the air/heat to the temperature that best suits you. If you anticipate (预料) your physical needs before you start studying, you’ll be less likely to get out of your seat and lose the focus you have worked so hard to gain. ● ____________________________________ Schedule your most challenging study sessions during the best energy periods of the day when you anticipate feeling most energized and focused. If you’re a morning person, that means you should be studying as early as possible. If you’re a night owl, choose an evening period. If you aren’t sure what time works best for you, think about your most successful studying experiences. What time of day did they take place? When does your brain feel most effective in general? Pencil in study sessions during these periods, and stick with them. 21. The purpose of creating the best environment for studying is ______. A. to find a good study partner B. to avoid possible white noise C. to ensure a full-session study D. to make yourself comfortable 22. What should you do if you’re uncertain about your best energy periods? A. Predict the most energized and focused time. B. Stick with a schedule regardless of energy levels. C. Reflect on previous rewarding learning experiences. D. Choose morning study sessions instead of evening ones. 23. Which subheadings can best fit the three parts respectively? ①Find a Study Partner for Greater Progress ②Choose Your Study Environment Wisely ③Get Ready for Your Physical Needs ④Respond to Your Internal Worries ⑤Study During Your Peak Brain Times ⑥Conduct Reflections Periodically A. ①③⑤ B. ①④⑥ C. ②④⑥ D. ②③⑤ 【答案】21. C 22. C 23. 根据第三段中“Create the best possible environment for studying before you open your books so that you don’t have to pause mid-session to make a change.( 在你打开书本之前创造一个最好的学习环境,这样你就不必中途停下来做改变。)” 根据最后一段中“If you aren’t sure what time works best for you, think about your most successful studying experiences. What time of day did they take place? When does your brain feel most effective in general?( 如果你不确定什么时间最适合你,想想你最成功的学习经历。 根据第二段中“Unless your friends happen to be good study partners, study alone. If you’re studying at home, choose a quiet room with limited clutter (杂物). Post a sign on your door telling roommates or family members to stay away. If your home environment is distracting, gather your study supplies and head over to a comfortable study spot.( 除非你的朋友是很好的学习伙伴,否则还是独自学习吧。 主要讲的是明智地选择学习环境,如独自学习、选择安静房间、避免干扰等,对应②Choose Your Study Environment Wisely(明智地选择学习环境);根据第四段中“If you’re studying attentively, you’re going to get thirsty. Understand the science behind it! Now, let’s try four experiments connecting science and art. Wet Wall Painting Do you know Wet Wall Painting-painting on wet plaster (灰泥)? Try this: Mix cornstarch (玉米淀粉) and water to make sticky mixture. Paint on it. The mixture acts like real plaster-it takes in paint water, making colors brighter. This scientific method helps art stay beautiful for hundreds of years. Ink Color Secret Are all black markers the same? Use filter paper (滤纸) to find out. Draw a dot with a black marker. Put the paper’s edge in water. As the water rises, it separates ink into different colors. You might see blue or yellow! This method, called color separation, helps make perfect ink colors. Cream Art Design Make colorful patterns with shaving (剃须) cream. Spread cream on a plate, add food coloring drops. Mix colors with a stick. Press paper on top. The soap in the cream has two special parts-some attract water, others push it away. When pressed, these special parts lock in colors in various patterns, and each pattern looks new and different! Moving Picture Magic Make a flipbook (翻页书) with sticky notes. Draw small changes on each page-like a ball bouncing (弹跳). Flip the pages quickly to see the movement! Large changes between pictures make the movement broken; small changes produce smooth moving images—exactly how cartoon movies work. This shows how our brains might use visual clues to fill in missing information. These experiments show what science has to do with art. By understanding science, artists can complete their works more creatively. 11. What materials are used in Wet Wall Painting? A. Water and cornstarch. B. Filter paper and water. C. Cream and food coloring. D. Sticky notes and markers. 12. Which of the following experiments is Ink Color Secret? A. B. C. D. 13. The flipbook experiment mainly shows ________. A. ways to create sticky notes B. the science behind cartoon movies C. how to use clearer visual clues D. how to draw larger changes on pages 14. What is the main purpose of the passage? A. To develop science theories. B. To show science in art. C. To offer art lessons. D. To explain science subjects. A 12. C 13. B 14. 根据Wet Wall Painting部分“Try this: Mix cornstarch and water to make sticky mixture. (所有的黑色标记都一样吗?使用滤纸进行查找。用黑色记号笔画一个点。把纸的边缘放进水里。随着水的上升,它把墨水分成不同的颜色。你可能会看到蓝色或黄色!这种方法称为分色,有助于制作出完美的油墨颜色)”可知,墨水颜色秘密实验是在滤纸上画黑色点,之后纸的边缘被放进水里,水上升,墨水被分成不同颜色,C图显示的正是这种实验。故选C。 13. 细节理解题。根据Moving Picture Magic部分“Make a flipbook with sticky notes. Draw small changes on each page-like a ball bouncing. Flip the pages quickly to see the movement! ... exactly how cartoon movies work. This shows how our brains might use visual clues to fill in missing information. (用便利贴做一本翻页书。在每一页上画出小的变化,就像一个弹跳的球。快速翻页以查看运动!……这正是卡通电影的工作原理。这表明我们的大脑可能会利用视觉线索来填补缺失的信息)”可知,翻页书实验主要展示了卡通电影背后的科学原理。故选B。 14. 推理判断题。根据第一段“Science helps artists try new ideas. Want to create better art? Understand the science behind it! Now, let’s try four experiments connecting science and art. (科学帮助艺术家尝试新想法。想创作更好的艺术吗?了解背后的科学原理!现在,让我们尝试四个连接科学和艺术的实验)”、最后一段“These experiments show what science has to do with art. By understanding science, artists can complete their works more creatively. Canada has a variety of options. D. ①③⑤ B. ①④⑥ C. ②④⑥ D. ②③⑤ Passage 4 (24-25高一下·北京朝阳·期末) We are now having the largest generation of youth in. human history. C.
