But come a little closer, and Moreno’s is another kind of immigrant (移民的) story. She was a teen when MGM (米高梅电影公司) signed her in the 1950s. Major studios were still dominated by the men who’d run them for decades. They had her change her name. While recognizing her talent, they didn’t know what to do with a Latin girl. Moreno played small parts, including a girl from India and a Burmese (缅甸的) woman. What should have been her big break came when she was cast as Anita in West Side Story. She’d remember Anita as “the very first Hispanic (西班牙的) character I had ever played who had dignity, a sense of self-respect. She became my role model.” The night Moreno won the Oscar, the Hispanic community across the USA broke out into cheers. But that career turn didn’t happen. Instead, she received more offers to play what she described as “dusky servants”. The racial and ethnic prejudice was still at play. “It broke my heart,” she says. Rita Moreno didn’t make another movie for seven years. Then began her new act. Holding to her mother’s philosophy — Never give in, never quit, keep on moving — she survived professionally during those years with work on the London stage and in nightclubs, slowly reemerging on film and television, and eventually she earned herself a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Peabody Career Achievement Award. But even as she continues to perform, her work continues off the screen, speaking out for and representing the Latin community. “I’m now known as la pionera, or the pioneer,” Moreno says. “I really don’t think of myself as a role model. But it turns out that I am, to a lot of the Hispanic community. Not just in show business, but in life. But that’s what happens when you’re first, right?” 24. What do we know about Moreno in Paragraph 2? A. She had her future well-planned for her talent. B. She was an actress contracted with MGM C. She was treated as a Hispanic girl with dignity. D. She won the Oscar for acting a Burmese woman. 25. Why didn’t Moreno make movies for seven years after winning the Oscar? A. She rejected roles of racial prejudice. B. She did not receive any film offers. C. She was tired of performing on the stage. D. She focused on her stage career in nightclubs. 26. Which of the following can best describe Moreno? A. Generous and brave. B. Kind and grateful. C. Honest and trustworthy. D. Tough and determined. 27. What can we learn from Moreno’s words in the last paragraph? A. She prefers to be a role model in show business. B. She is unhappy with what happened to an actress. C. She makes a difference to the Hispanic community. D. She feels pressured about being a Hispanic pioneer. C Adults living by themselves may have a higher risk of dying from cancer, compared with those who live with others, a new study suggests. The research, published Thursday in the journal Cancer, found that among 114,772 working-age adults who lived alone, 2.5% of them died of cancer during the study period. Meanwhile, among 358,876 adults who lived with others, 1.6%, a much smaller share, died of cancer in the study. Adults aged 18 to 64 were enrolled in the study and researchers found the strongest association was in those aged 45 to 64. The researchers from the American Cancer Society analyzed data on more than 470,000 adults from the National Health Interview Survey, taking a close look at how many of the adults lived alone versus with others and how many died of cancer. “Our findings may suggest that stronger social support existing in communities from racial minority groups and people of lower socioeconomic status might have alleviated (缓解) the association between living alone and cancer death in this group, but we need more research on reasons for these differences,” Islami said. Compared with adults living with others, adults living alone were more likely to have poor self-reported health status, activity limitation, serious psychological distress, severe obesity, smoke cigarettes, or consume alcohol, according to the study. “More research is needed to identify the exact underlying mechanisms to explain the association between living alone and cancer death”, Kathrin Milbury, associate professor of behavioral science at The University of Texas, who was not involved in the new study, said in an email. “The biological mechanisms of social isolation are not fully understood; however, humans are social beings, and being isolated creates a state of biological stress that is harmful to our health,” Milbury said. “The other mechanism I believe is related to being in a relationship with others, beyond benefiting just from their presence, but also receiving their care and support.” 28. How does the author justify the finding in paragraph 2? A. By analyzing reasons. B. By listing statistics. C. By giving examples. D. By making comments. 29. Which of the following will Islami probably agree with? A. Stronger social support will not cause cancer death. B. People in their 50s are more likely to survive cancer. C. The underlying logic of the differences needs exploring. D. People from minority groups have stronger social support. 30. Which problem is not mentioned about living alone? A. Abusing alcohol. B. Becoming inactive. C. Gaining weight. D. Remaining violent. 31. What can be inferred from the last two paragraphs? A. Scientists have revealed the underlying mechanisms. B. Receiving others’ support helps relieve social isolation. C. Lonely people can receive more social care and support. D. More scientists have been attracted to the great research. D A third of the Arctic’s tundra (北极冻土), forests and wetlands have become a source of carbon emissions, a new study has found, as global heating ends thousands of years of carbon storage. For thousands of years, Arctic land ecosystems have acted as a deep freeze, holding potential emissions in the tundra. But ecosystems in the region are releasing more CO₂ into the atmosphere with rising temperatures, a study published in Nature Climate Change concluded. More than 30% of the region was a source of CO₂, according to the analysis, rising to 40% when emissions from wildfires were included. By using data from 200 study sites between 1990 and 2020, the research demonstrates how the Arctic’s tundra, forests and wetlands are being transformed by rapid warming. The shift is occurring despite the Arctic becoming greener. “One place where I work in Alaska, when the tundra unfreezes, the plants that absorb CO₂ grow more, so you can sometimes get an uptick in carbon storage,” Sue Natali, the lead researcher said. “But the tundra continues to unfreeze and the microbes (微生物) take over. You can visually see the changes in the landscape.” There is a growing concern about the natural processes that regulate the Earth’s climate, which is being affected by rising temperatures. Together, the planet’s oceans, forests, soils and other natural carbon sinks absorb about half of all human emissions, but there are signs that these sinks are under stress. The Arctic ecosystem has been gathering carbon for thousands of years, helping cool the atmosphere. In a warming world, the researchers say, its carbon cycle is beginning to change and needs better monitoring. Dr Anna Virkkala, the lead author of the study, said, “The carbon in the Arctic soils is close to half of the Earth’s soil carbon pool, much more than in the atmosphere. This huge pool should ideally stay in the ground. But now, rising temperatures are speeding the breakdown of plant and animal remains, which releases stored carbon back into the air as greenhouse gases like CO₂, creating a cycle that fuels even more warming.” 32. What’s the main reason for the release of carbon from Arctic soils? A. Wetland disappearing. B. Wildfire erupting. C. Tree over-cutting. D. Tundra defrosting. 33. What does the underlined word “uptick” in Paragraph 4 mean? A. Boost. B. Loss. C. Limit. D. Release. 34. What can we infer about the Arctic’s soil carbon pool according to Dr Anna Virkkala? A. It has less carbon than the air. B. It ought to be stored in the tundra. C. It can break down organic matter. D. It is less affected by global warming. 35. What is the main idea of the text? A. Arctic greening cuts carbon emissions. B. Arctic carbon storage is growing rapidly. C. More carbon is being released in Arctic. D. Extreme climate makes Arctic inhabitable. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 We are masters of distraction especially when we feel an uncomfortable emotion surfacing. And our society makes it easier than ever. 36 . Those range from videos on TikTok to online shopping. But does distraction really help deal with emotions? Or does it merely worsen the problem? 37 . In some ways it can help, and often distraction avoids the root of the problem. In the loud world in which we live nowadays, avoiding an emotion is easier than processing it. During the process of an emotion, distraction occurs when we first notice it. The emotion in question causes physiological changes and often causes action. 38 . It isn’t always a bad thing. There’s pretty good evidence that distraction can help down regulate the anxiety around a negative emotion. 39 . There are longer mood states that last days or months, although most emotions only last a few minutes before they pass. That’s why, if you’re seeking long-term solutions, learning to process emotions is the only way. When you slow down and make space for your emotions, you can start to process them. Jacobs Hendel, a psychotherapist, uses a process, which involves connecting your feet to the floor, deep belly breathing, slowing down and then identifying where different emotions are felt in the body. 40 — once anxiety goes down, you can identify the other emotions that are coming up in your body. If the same emotions keep coming up and causing you stress, learning to sit with them and work through them. Facing your emotions may help you see that they aren’t as scary as you thought. A. And feeling them in the body is a good place to start B. According to experts, the answer is a mixed bag C. Grabbing your phone isn’t necessarily bad D. We feel like emotions are going to get bigger when we focus on them E. For example, if you’re sad, you draw back; if you’re angry, you approach F. Once a negative emotion arises, we may reach for various digital distractions G. However, distraction isn’t a true fix either, because it only works in the short term 第三部分:语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 It was 6 p.m. on 24 January 2001, the first day of Chinese New Year. For most students, it was a day of excitement and joy, but for me, it was just another event I wanted to avoid. I had always been the type to shy away from group activities, preferring the company of my books and thoughts. Our class monitor, Sarah, noticed my unwillingness. She was the very image of enthusiasm and leadership, always trying to bring the class together. One day, she approached me during lunch. “Why don’t you join us for the relay race? It’ll be fun,” she said with a warm smile. I hesitated, but her persistence was hard to ignore. The next day, Sarah organized a practice session, guiding us in pasings the baton (接力棒) smoothly. I unwillingly joined, feeling out of place among my more athletic classmates. As we ran, I tripped and fell, scraping (擦伤) my knee. Embarrassed, I wanted to quit, but Sarah was there in an instant, offering a hand and words of encouragement. “It’s okay, we’re a team,” she said. At this time, other fellow classmates came to encourage me. Their kindness made me feel less alone. As the days went by, I found myself looking forward to the practices. The care and support among my classmates was infectious. I began to see the value of teamwork and the joy of shared experiences. My initial unwillingness melted away, replaced by a newfound sense of belonging. The anticipation for the sports day filled me with excitement. I dreamed of the cheers, the applauding crowd, and the thrill of competition. Training hard, I longed to showcase my skills, push my limits, share and feel the joy of victory. This event was more than a game; it meant a lot for me. I could not wait to be part of it! 注意: 1.续写的词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答 Paragraph 1: The day I looked forward to came eventually. ___________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Our opponent winning narrowly, I blamed our failure on myself. ____________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025-2026学年度下学期高二期中考试 英语试卷答案 1-5 CAABC 6-10 ABCBA 11-15 CBBAB 16-20 CACCA 21-23 ADC 24-27 BADC 28-31 BCDB 32-35 DABC 36-40 F B E G A 41-45 DABAD 46-50 ACABB 51-55 CBCDD 56. truly 57. has earned 58. I’m sorry to hear that you were criticized by your teacher for using AI to do homework. AI indeed brings us great convenience, but depending on it completely prevents you from developing your own thinking and problem-solving skills. These skills are key to strengthening your understanding of knowledge. Moreover, simply copying AI answers is not honest. In my opinion, you should try doing homework on your own first. When facing difficulties, use AI as a helper instead of copying the whole answer. This way, you can truly learn and avoid getting into trouble again. Best wishes, Li Hua 67.【范文】 The day I looked forward to came eventually. The air buzzed with cheers as our relay team stepped onto the track. I was seized by tension and unease, my palms sweating constantly. Sarah patted me on my shoulders, giving me encouragement with an inspiring look. A sense of determination crowding in, I raised my head confidently. When the whistle blew, I dashed like an arrow. But my competitors ran rather fast. My teammates’ shouts urged me forward. What made me frustrated was that I didn’t catch up with them. I was the last one to hand over the baton. Our opponent winning narrowly, I blamed our failure on myself. “If I’d run faster, we could have won.” I murmured, burying my head, with tears of guilt rolling down my cheeks. Approaching me, Sarah said firmly, “We all gave our best!” The team gathered around, echoing her words. So warm was I that I felt incredibly comforted. Later, we shared snacks under a tree, encouraging each other to do it better next year. We were overwhelmed with joy, broad smiles lighting up our faces. It was then that I realized victory wasn’t just about medals; it was the courage to try and the bonds we’d built. Sports Day had taught me to cherish both. 第一部分:听力(共两节,满分30分) Text 1 W: Excuse me. Is this the line for the new Tom Cruise movie? M: Yep, you’re in the right place! W: Wow, it is going to be a really long wait. (1) Text 2 W: Dad, where is my towel? I left it in the bathroom to dry. M: I washed it with the rest of the laundry. I think I folded it up and put it by your pillow. (2) W: Got it. You’re the best, Dad! Text 3 M: How long does the battery last on a full charge? W: You can drive about 300 miles, but charging is the real issue — there aren’t any stations close to us! M: Hmmm… Still, it’s way cheaper and greener than a gas car. It’s hard to decide. (3) Text 4 M: Hey, Jane, where are you? W: I’m in that new clothing store next to the bank. They have some shirts that would look perfect on you. M: It’s the one opposite the cinema, right? (4) The place used to be a bookstore. W: Yeah, you’re right! Text 5 W: OK, have you got that? Two orders of chips and two bottles of apple juice. The address is 18 Royal Gardens. Do you know where that is? M: Yes, ma’ am. I should be there in 30 minutes. (5) Text 6 W: Have you checked your email? The manager said she was going to send you the work schedule this morning. (6) M: Not yet. I’ve been dealing with our social media accounts all morning. I haven’t even had time for a cup of coffee. W: I see. It can be difficult to keep track of all these things. Don’t you think? M: Absolutely. Sometimes I wish we still used old-fashioned phones! Then everything would be much simpler. (7) W: I couldn’t agree more. Text 7 M: Cathy, have you ever faced any fears? W: Plenty! Especially since starting university. M: You mean leaving home, taking exams… that sort of thing? W: Not really. But meeting other people was scary for me at first. (8) M: You met people before, right? W: True, but I’d known them all my life. Here, I had to get to know various new people and learn how to communicate with them. M: Weren’t they friendly? W: They were friendly enough. But they come from all over the world — France, Russia, and everywhere else. Fortunately, we can all speak in English, which happens to be my major in college. (9) M: Oh yes, even in your spare time, it helps you study. W: Exactly. M: What do you plan to do after graduation? Translation work, perhaps? W: I’m hoping to go into teaching. M: What a coincidence! I want to teach history. (10) Text 8 M: Look at the map. We started here early this morning and now we’re at this point. W: How can you tell? M: If you look closely, you’ll notice a small blue section — the lake we’re standing next to. (11) This track takes us up the hill, then down to the forest with a river running through it. W: Hmm, how will we cross the river? M: We’ll have to follow the river for about a mile until we reach this bridge. Then we can cross the bridge and cycle on the road. (12) W: That’ll bring us within five miles of the camp, but there are no direct paths through the fields, and they’re all uphill. M: That’s right. It’ll make the journey a bit longer. W: A few more miles won’t hurt. Come on, let’s go. It’ll be dark soon. (13) Text 9 W: How is the job hunt going? M: I’ve applied to more than 10 companies and had three interviews. I got two job offers, (14) but they’re not what I expected. W: Why not? M: Neither of them offered me a good salary. W: Do you like the companies and the benefits they offer? M: I do, especially one of them called The Creator. They’ve received a lot of great reviews from employees, and offer a great benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, as well as more holiday time than most other companies. W: That’s great! But don’t turn down the job offer. You can negotiate the salary they give you. (15) M: I had been at the company we were at for so long. (16) I forgot about the job hunting process. I’m a bit nervous about asking for more. W: Listen! If they offered you a job, that means they want you! Especially in your field, data analytics, you are needed in today’s job market. Everyone needs people to analyze and make sense of all the data being collected. (17) M: You have a point. I’ll give them a call right now. It’s a nice and relaxing ride around the city, taking in the Berlin Wall, the Reichstag and Museum Island, among others. The tour usually takes around six hours, including lunch. (19) That means we should arrive at our final destination, the famous TV Tower,(18) by about 5:00 p.m. (19) Before we set off, let’s talk about safety. Do we have any Brits or Australians in the group? Please don’t be shy. Okay, the Green family. Great! But I need to remind you that here in Germany, we need to stick to the right-hand side of the road. (20) It’s basic but important! Berlin is a bike-friendly city, so we’ll spend most of the tour on bike paths. However, there are places where we will need to cross traffic, so I need everybody to be aware of their surroundings. Never cycle through red lights and keep an eye out for cars turning right. Okay? Now, I’ve had a few people asking me about lunchtime arrangements, so let’s talk about it now … 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
