The “happiest place on earth” is a top destination on many families’ bucket lists. But taking a vacation to Disney World can be difficult to do on a budget. There are some tips that you can make to reduce the cost of your Disney World vacation. 1. Buy Souvenirs in Advance Disney has influenced practically every industry, which makes it easy to find Disney items anywhere, from Walmart, Target, and your local grocery store to department stores and Amazon. You can save a lot of money by buying items before your trip at these less-expensive places than at Disneyland. 2. Make an Autograph Book (签名册) An autograph book is seen as a must-have by many Disneyland enthusiasts and is a memory you can take home with you. These books can cost anywhere from $7.95 to $19.95 at the Disney Store and up to $30 for the latest-and-greatest autograph book at Disneyland, such as the park’s 60th anniversary edition. Other choices can get the job done for under $5. For example, you can buy a small photo album, cute pads or notebooks. 3. Eat Breakfast before You Arrive Breakfast is almost as expensive as lunch or dinner if you eat inside the Disneyland parks. If you have a hotel with a free breakfast, take advantage of it. If you want to eat out, eat at a local restaurant that is inexpensive or has a kids’ menu, such as McDonald’s which is close to the park. 4. Take Advantage of Discounts Offered to Special Groups Disney offers a wide variety of discounts, including for military service members, college students, teachers, and youth groups. C The Civilian Mobile Library offers books for free. Readers are invited to take one book every 15 days. They are encouraged to pass it on to someone else once they’ve finished reading. And they are not expected to return the book. The library is just seven square meters in size but houses thousands of books on different subjects. “It might be the smallest library in the world,” said Xu Dawei, the owner. “But in another sense, it’s also the biggest because the books keep moving. Once, a reader took a book on Chinese garden history. After finishing it, the reader passed it to a neighbor. The neighbor then took it to Germany!” “I’ve read thousands of books,” Xu said. “Books have truly changed my life.” The idea of starting a library took shape in 2010, when Xu recommended (推荐) online a list of his favorite books to university students, but many of them said they couldn’t find those books in their school libraries or local bookstores. So he began sending his books to readers for free. “They all wrote me letters expressing their thanks. It inspired me to take it further, turning my book-gifting into a physical space,” Xu said. “All the readers have to do is come. Even if they finish a book and decide not to pass it on, at least the book benefited (使受益) one person and perhaps their family, helping them fall in love with reading,” Xu said. “And this is my dream.” 28. Why did Xu Dawei mention the reader in Paragraph 2? A. To ask for some help. B. To compare two ideas. C. To recommend a book. D. To support his thoughts. 29. What can we learn from Paragraph 3? A. Who helped Xu manage the library. B. What inspired Xu to start the library. C. When Xu fell in love with reading. D. Where Xu found his favorite books. 30. What is Xu Dawei’s dream? A. To travel around the world. B. To go to university. C. To help more people love reading. D. To start seven libraries. 31. What is the best title (标题) for the text? A. Take a Book, Pass It On B. Your Hope, Our Dream C. Warm Friend, Nice Trip D. Once Start, Never Stop D “The real question is not whether machines think but whether men do,” American psychologist BF Skinner once said. And as AI continues to become more popular, many people might be worried about whether people are really thinking at all anymore — and that includes students. Oxford University Press surveyed 2,000 students aged 13 to 18 all over the UK. It found that about 80% of students in the UK already use AI for schoolwork. However, not all students are necessarily happy about their use of AI. More than 60% say they feel that AI has harmful effects on their skills and learning, with one in four saying AI makes it too easy for them to find answers without having to do much work themselves. Many students say they’re worried that AI tools encourage copying instead of creating work by themselves, and they also worry about the correctness of the information AI offers. In fact, fewer than half of students who took part in the survey say they can tell if AI content is correct, and many say they’d like their teachers to help them understand what information they can believe in. A lot of students are also not sure when they should use AI for their schoolwork; about half say they’re worried that other students are using AI, and that teachers don’t always know this. However, the results aren’t all bad. Many students say that AI has helped them get new skills, such as getting better at understanding problems, and thinking of new ideas. One student said AI also helps him “think faster.” Alexandra Tomescu from Oxford University Press said the results of the survey show that students have a mature understanding of how AI affects learning, in both good ways and bad. 32. What can we learn from the survey according to paragraph 2? A. All students are unhappy about using AI. B. About 80% UK students use AI for schoolwork. C. 60% think it easy to find answers with AI. D. The survey covers 2,000 students under 18. 33. What do students hope teachers do for them? A. Tell whether AI content is correct. B. Decide when AI should be used. C. recommend some useful AI tools. D. Prevent other students using AI. 34. How does AI help students according to the text? A. Develop practical life skills. B. Understand themselves better. C. Improve their thinking ability. D. Correct mistakes in homework. 35. What does the underlined word “mature” probably mean in the last paragraph? A. Narrow. B. Clear. C. Basic. D. It can be difficult for new students to find their way around, so we’re taking you on this quick walk. The college used to have four departments, English, French, German and Russian. However, with more students wanting to learn different languages, we have recently added a Chinese department. At the moment we’re outside your department, the English department, which is the largest department in the college. There are over 75 students in each grade, and we have 35 teachers, including 15 professors. The teachers come from different countries, mainly from the USA and Canada, with a few from England and Australia. This means you can hear different accents and learn in various ways. You’ll have all your classes here in this building. Now let’s walk over to the main library, which is the largest building in the college. Just next to the English department building. The library has a lot of books and online resources to help you with your studies. It also has quiet areas for studying rooms for group discussions and computer stations. A How to save money to visit Shanghai Disneyland? Once Start, Never Stop 【答案】28. D 29. B 30. C 31. 根据第二段“The library is just seven square meters in size but houses thousands of books on different subjects. “It might be the smallest library in the world,” said Xu Dawei, the owner. “But in another sense, it’s also the biggest because the books keep moving. Once, a reader took a book on Chinese garden history. After finishing it, the reader passed it to a neighbor. The neighbor then took it to Germany!”(图书馆只有七平方米大,但收藏了数千本不同主题的书籍。“这可能是世界上最小的图书馆,”馆主徐大伟说。“但从另一个意义上说,它也是最大的,因为书一直在流动。有一次,一位读者拿了一本关于中国园林史的书。看完后,读者把它传给了邻居。邻居随后把它带到了德国!”)”可知,徐大伟提到这个读者是为了说明书一直在流动,从而支持他“图书馆在某种意义上也是最大的”这一观点。故选D。 【29题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第三段中“The idea of starting a library took shape in 2010, when Xu recommended (推荐) online a list of his favorite books to university students, but many of them said they couldn’t find those books in their school libraries or local bookstores. So he began sending his books to readers for free. “They all wrote me letters expressing their thanks. It inspired me to take it further, turning my book-gifting into a physical space,” Xu said.(创办图书馆的想法在2010年成形,当时徐大伟在网上向大学生推荐了他最喜欢的一批书,但很多人说他们在学校图书馆或当地书店找不到这些书。于是他开始免费给读者送书。“他们都给我写信表示感谢。这激励我进一步行动,把我的送书行为变成一个实体空间,”徐大伟说。)”可知,本段主要讲述了是什么激励了徐大伟创办图书馆。故选B。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段““All the readers have to do is come. Even if they finish a book and decide not to pass it on, at least the book benefited (使受益) one person and perhaps their family, helping them fall in love with reading,” Xu said. “And this is my dream.”(“读者所要做的就是来。即使他们读完一本书并决定不把它传下去,至少这本书使一个人或他们的家人受益,帮助他们爱上阅读,”徐大伟说。“这是我的梦想。”)”可知,徐大伟的梦想是帮助更多的人爱上阅读。故选C。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是根据第一段“The Civilian Mobile Library offers books for free. Readers are invited to take one book every 15 days. They are encouraged to pass it on to someone else once they’ve finished reading. And they are not expected to return the book.(民间流动图书馆免费提供书籍。读者被邀请每15天拿一本书。他们被鼓励在看完后把书传给其他人。而且他们不需要归还这本书。)”可知,文章主要讲述了徐大伟创办民间流动图书馆,鼓励读者免费取书阅读并传递下去的故事,所以A选项“Take a Book, Pass It On(拿一本书,把它传下去)”最符合文章主旨,适合用作标题。故选A。 D “The real question is not whether machines think but whether men do,” American psychologist BF Skinner once said. A. Narrow. B. Clear. C. Basic. D. Simple. D 33. A 34. C 35. 根据第二段中“Oxford University Press surveyed 2,000 students aged 13 to 18 all over the UK. It found that about 80% of students in the UK already use AI for schoolwork.(牛津大学出版社对英国各地2000名13至18岁的学生进行了调查。调查发现,英国约80%的学生已经使用人工智能完成作业。)”可知,英国约80%的学生用AI做功课。故选B。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“many say they’d like their teachers to help them understand what information they can believe in.(许多人说,他们希望老师能帮助他们理解哪些信息是可以相信的。)” 故选A。 根据第四段中“Many students say that AI has helped them get new skills, such as getting better at understanding problems, and thinking of new ideas. One student said AI also helps him ‘think faster.’(许多学生说,人工智能帮助他们获得了新技能,比如更好地理解问题,以及思考新的想法。一位学生说,人工智能还帮助他‘思考得更快’。)”可知,AI通过帮助学生更好地理解问题和激发新想法来提高他们的思维能力。故选C。 【35题详解】 词句猜测题。根据最后一段“Alexandra Tomescu from Oxford University Press said the results of the survey show that students have a mature understanding of how AI affects learning, in both good ways and bad. Playing sports is a lot of fun. Getting hurt is not.____36____ Wear protective equipment. The equipment you wear depends on the sport you play. Helmets (头盔) are the most common protective equipment. By warming up, you get yourself ready to play. Practicing a sport helps keep you safe, too. Know the rules of the games. This works because drivers know the rules and follow them—at least most of the time.____38____ When players know the rules of the game, fewer injuries happen. For example, you know that in soccer you can’t come from behind, crash into a player’s legs, or steal the ball. It’s legal and safer to go after the ball rather than the player. ____39____ This is a really important one. If you love sports, you may want to get back in the games, even after an injury. But playing when you’re hurt is a bad idea.____40____ Now you know how to prevent sports injuries. If you follow these rules, you can stay safer while you are playing sports. A.
