Good morning! My name is Sarah Williams. It’s an honour to be here and to share with you the story of how music has had an impact on my life.
Have you ever faced a time when things looked dark and you had no hope at all? Two years ago, I was told I had a serious disease which was difficult to cure. My body ached all the time and thus I thought I didn’t have much longer to live. I was very afraid and I felt so alone and discouraged. Then one day, I had to go through a two-hour medical treatment. The doctor wanted me to relax, so he had me listen to some music, and one of the songs was “Happy”. The song made me feel so much better that from then on I began to listen to music all the time. John A. Logan said, “Music is the medicine of the mind.” And it’s true. Music helped me recover.
Music gave me happiness. When I listened to music, it made my spirits fly like a kite in the wind. Music gave me strength and brought me relief. It was the rock I leant on to become strong and to get through those hard times. Moreover, music gave me hope and a sense of satisfaction. It became my best friend. It spoke words of encouragement to the deepest part of my being.
Of course, I hope none of you have to go through the same kind of suffering that I did. At the same time, we all go through various periods when we feel sad or alone. During those times, music can help you in the same way that it helped me. I hope all of you will somehow begin to treasure music and make it a part of your life.
Thank you!

In a study of 20,000 people, a team, led by Mathew White of a research center for environment and human health, found that people who spent two hours a week in green spaces — local parks or other natural environments, whether in one go or over several visits — were more likely to report good health and psychological well- being than those who didn’t. Two hours was a hard boundary: The study, published last June, showed there were no benefits for people who didn’t meet that threshold. With the threshold reached, the effects were strong.
There were also some studies conducted by other teams about nature deficit disorder, and all the findings pointed to the same conclusion: Nature is not only nice to have, but it’s a have-to-have for physical health and cognitive functioning. These studies showed that time in nature — as long as people feel safe — is an antidote for stress: It can lower blood pressure and stress hormone levels, reduce nervous system arousal, enhance immune system function, increase self- esteem, reduce anxiety, and improve mood.
The finding came at a crucial time. Increasing concerns about the overuse of smartphones and other forms of technology have led to a tipping point, promoting health experts, researchers, and government officials to propose widespread changes to bring nature into people’s everyday lives.
The influence of the finding is obvious. For example, more attention has been paid to “park deserts” in cities. More community parks have been built to help people live within a 10-minute walk of a park. More schools have been redesigned with large windows and access to water, trees and green spaces. The number of “forest schools”, where much of the learning takes place in natural settings in the outdoors, has mushroomed. More businesses have provided their employees with easy access to green spaces.
Mathew White even suggested using Forest Therapy — immersing oneself in the forest for healing — to get bigger benefits. “The forest is the therapist. And we need to deepen interaction with it to make the experience more immersive and beneficial.”
32. What can we learn from Mathew White’s 20,000-people study?
A. All participants got benefits from the study.
B. Green spaces only benefit people with diseases.
C. 2 hours a week in green spaces makes people healthier.
D. More time in green spaces reward people with better health.
33. What does the underlined word “antidote” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. A form of amusement.
B. A way to solve a problem.
C. A factor causing harm.
D. An advanced tool for measurement.
34. How does the author present the influence of the study in Paragraph 4?
A. By giving examples.
B. By listing data.
C. By analyzing causes.
D. By quoting an expert.
35. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Nature Deficit Disorder: A Research Focus
B. Forest Therapy: A New Treatment for Illness
C. Forest Schools: An Education Model Change
D. Nature Immersion: A Healing Power for Health
C 33. B 34. A 35. D

根据第一段中“In a study of 20,000 people, a team, led by Mathew White of a research center for environment and human health, found that people who spent two hours a week in green spaces — local parks or other natural environments, whether in one go or over several visits — were more likely to report good health and psychological well- being than those who didn’t.( 在一项针对 20000 人的研究中,由环境与人类健康研究中心的马修·怀特领导的一个团队发现,每周在绿地(包括当地公园或其他自然环境,无论是一次性前往还是分多次前往)中停留两小时的人,比那些不这样做的人更有可能报告自己身体健康且心理状态良好。)”
根据冒号后解释“It can lower blood pressure and stress hormone levels, reduce nervous system arousal, enhance immune system function, increase self- esteem, reduce anxiety, and improve mood.( 它能降低血压和压力激素水平,减少神经系统的兴奋程度,增强免疫系统功能,提高自尊,减少焦虑,并改善情绪。)” A way to solve a problem.“一种解决问题的方法”符合语境。
根据第四段中“For example, more attention has been paid to “park deserts” in cities. More community parks have been built to help people live within a 10-minute walk of a park. More schools have been redesigned with large windows and access to water, trees and green spaces. The number of “forest schools”, where much of the learning takes place in natural settings in the outdoors, has mushroomed. More businesses have provided their employees with easy access to green spaces.( 例如,城市中的“公园荒漠”受到了更多关注。 故选A项。
根据文章大意以及最后一段“Mathew White even suggested using Forest Therapy — immersing oneself in the forest for healing — to get bigger benefits. “The forest is the therapist. And we need to deepen interaction with it to make the experience more immersive and beneficial.”(马修·怀特甚至建议采用“森林疗法”——将自己置身于森林中以获得治疗效果——以获得更大的益处。“森林就是治疗师。我们需要加深与它的互动,以使这种体验更具沉浸感和益处。”)”可知,全文围绕“自然对身心健康的治愈作用”开,先通过研究证实每周 2 小时自然接触的健康益处,再介绍该发现对社会各领域的影响,最后补充森林疗法的建议。由此可知,这篇文章适合的标题是“自然沉浸:对健康的治愈力量”。故选D项。

【答案】36. E 37. C 38. D 39. A 40. F
根据上文“It can be difficult to start a hobby. You may have come across one that requires you to buy costly equipment.”(开始一个兴趣是很难的,你可能需要购买昂贵的设备。);下文“Find a low—cost hobby and pick something that is interesting and doesn't require a lot of materials to start.”( 找一个低成本的爱好,选择一个有趣的,不需要很多材料的开始。) 所以“The truth is that many hobbies can be started without much money.”(事实上许多爱好可以不花费多少钱就能开始。) without much money呼应Find a low—cost hobby。故选E项。
根据下文“Look for rocks, plant leaves and flowers. Take a walk along a beach and look for sea glass.”( 寻找岩石、植物叶子和花朵。 所以“One way to do this is to go outside.”(其中一种方法就是到外面去。)
根据小标题“Start an art or craft(工艺)project. ”(开始一门艺术或工艺项目。)可知,这一段主要讲如果把手工艺作为一种爱好;再根据下文“Writing, drawing, and more will likely be available to you simply by using what you already have on hand.”(只要使用你手头已有的东西,你就可以写东西、画画等等。) 所以“Many arts and crafts can be started with few materials.”(许多工艺品可以用很少的材料开始。)
分析文章结构可知,此空需填一个小标题;再根据下文“Think of a subject you'd like to learn. Search out classes in your area.

During my six years at the Boyd E. Smith Primary School, I was lucky to have so many great teachers who served as thoughtful role models. They were admirable characters who had far-reaching effects on me in more ways than I could have known. Among them who influenced me the most was my fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Green.
The truth is that Mrs. Green was unlike anyone I had ever known. She had so much energy and passion for the world and for her students that she spent thirty years of her life at Boyd E. Smith. Mrs. Green taught maths. She devoted herself to her work. I would never have imagined that I would have left her class with so much.
Mrs. Green is everything that I want to be. The first time I met her, I knew she was someone special. Being young fourth-graders, we were taught to show respect to teachers as we learned to say “Thank you, madam” and “Yes, madam” on a daily basis. We did not complain about it. We knew she did it to make us better young adults that would carry on through life with respect for our elders.
Mrs. Green was an amazing teacher for many reasons, as she was intelligent and passionate about what she taught. She did not scold (责骂) us, but she taught us to recognize the difference between right and wrong and to be responsible no matter what we did. Looking back upon those days when I was in her class, I realized that she was teaching us qualities that were important to our characters. The most valuable lesson I learned from her was to live with honesty. I had no idea what this word meant until the incident (事情) in a math exam.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;
I was caught in the act of cheating in the exam.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Now I am also a primary school teacher like Mrs. Green.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
I was caught in the act of cheating in the exam. Mrs. Green saw what had happened to me, but kept silent. She didn’t shout at me. Instead, she invited me to her office when the exam finished. She talked to me, “I hope you can get a better mark, but honesty is more important than marks.” I was ashamed of what I had done. From then on, I made up my mind to study hard. Nothing could change it. Soon, I got an A in my class.
Now I am also a primary school teacher like Mrs. Green. I still remember what she said to me has changed my life. As the saying goes, “Honesty is the lifeblood of life, is the foundation of all value.” As a teacher, Mrs. Green is such a good example that I will learn from her and let my students realize the importance of honesty and try their best to get a better grade. Only in this way can they become worthwhile members of the community.

Thank you!
24. What was Sarah’s problem?
A. She had a disease that was hard to cure. B. She couldn’t tell her story to anyone.
C. She didn’t believe what the doctor said. D. She was unhappy with her medical treatment.
25. How did Sarah feel at the song “Happy”?
A. Alone. B. Discouraged. C. Relaxed. D. Afraid.
26. Why did music become Sarah’s best friend?
A. Because it cured her of her illness. B. Because it made her live much longer.
C. Because it gave encouragement to her. D. Because it made her much wiser.
27. What is Sarah’s advice according to the speech?
A. Sharing what you experienced with others. B. Facing your illness bravely.
C. Listening to a lot of pleasing songs. D. Making music a part of your life.

In recent years, new technologies have changed our daily lives quickly. One of the most talked-about developments is AI. AI helps people do many things, from making phone calls to translating languages. It also helps doctors find diseases more correctly and helps drivers avoid traffic jams.
Another important technology is 5G. It is the fifth generation of mobile network. 5G is much faster than 4G. For example, people can download a movie in just a few seconds. 5G also makes it possible to control smart homes from far away. Many cities in China and around the world are building 5G networks now.
Smart robots are also becoming popular. In factories, smart robots can work day and night without rest. They can put together cars, pack goods, and even help clean up. In some schools, robots teach students basic knowledge and answer questions. Students like them because they are patient and friendly.
However, new technologies also bring problems. Some people worry that AI will replace some jobs. Others say that smart devices may collect personal information. To solve these problems, scientists are making laws to protect privacy and ensure safety.
In the future, technology will continue to develop. It is important for teenagers to learn about new technologies and use them wisely. Only in this way can we build a better world.
28. What does the passage suggest about 5G?
A. It will completely replace 4G in daily life in a short time.
B. It will greatly influence and improve people’s daily life.
C. It is mainly designed for downloading movies and videos.
D. It can solve all the problems brought by new technologies.

B. Green spaces only benefit people with diseases.
C. 2 hours a week in green spaces makes people healthier.
D. More time in green spaces reward people with better health.
33. What does the underlined word “antidote” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A. A form of amusement.
B. A way to solve a problem.
C. A factor causing harm.
D. An advanced tool for measurement.
34. How does the author present the influence of the study in Paragraph 4?
A. By giving examples.
B. By listing data.
C. By analyzing causes.
D. By quoting an expert.
35. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Nature Deficit Disorder: A Research Focus
B. Forest Therapy: A New Treatment for Illness
C. Forest Schools: An Education Model Change
D. Nature Immersion: A Healing Power for Health

注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;
I was caught in the act of cheating in the exam.
