Potato milk doesn’t sound like the most delicious thing in the world, neither does oat milk (燕麦奶). If you hope to try potato milk, you’ll be happy to know that you can make it yourself at home. Generally, you just boil the potato, then mix it with the water it is boiled in, strain (过滤) it and add more water until it is what you want. The only welcome potato milk, recently has been firstly sold on the market. Although some people noticed the potato milk when it was sold, the success of this “milk” still needs time, as some people who have tried it said that it tasted so so, others thought that it tasted a little salty. But growing potatoes needs less land than growing oats, and it requires little water. Also it has more production than most plants. The new healthy drink may have a huge hill to climb, but it certainly has a chance to become the next big thing. (1)Potato milk is a kind of new plant milk. _______ (2)People can’t make potato milk at home. _______ (3)The success of potato milk doesn’t need time. _______ (4)Potato milk may not taste good to some people. _______ (5)The production of potatoes is less than that of most plants. _______ 第二节:阅读理解(共15小题,每小题2分,满分30分) A On November 26, 2025, a terrible fire broke out in Wang Fuk Yuen, Tai Po, Hong Kong, which shocked the whole city. The fire started from the scaffolding (脚手架) on the outer wall of a building in Wang Fuk Yuen at about 2:51 pm. With in just a few hours, it escalated to a Level 5 fire, the second-highest alarm level in Hong Kong. Strong winds made the fire spread quickly to seven nearby buildings. The old scaffolding and green construction nets on the buildings acted like fuel, making the flames burn more fiercely. The high temperature at the scene was a big challenge for firefighters. Some residents were trapped (困于) on the upper floors, and rescuers couldn’t reach them immediately due to the extreme heat. However, the rescue team kept in touch with the trapped people by phone to calm them down. More than 700 firefighters and rescue workers were sent to the scene, along with 128 fire engines and 57 ambulances. Sadly, up to now, the fire has caused 13 deaths and 28 injuries, including a 37-year-old firefighter who lost his life while fighting the blaze (火灾). The Hong Kong Fire Services Department even changed its official website to black and white to mourn (悼念) the fallen hero. The Hong Kong government took quick action. It opened temporary shelters (避难所) for the affected residents, and social workers and psychologists were sent to offer emotional support. Schools near the fire site were closed on November 27 to ensure students’ safety. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the incident reminds people of the importance of fire safety, especially in old communities under construction. B As we know, global warming has brought some serious problems. In recent years, strange weather appears often, from the very wet conditions to the hot and dry conditions. Global warming also makes glaciers (冰川) melt and it causes the sea level to rise. Many people have to move to higher ground as the sea level rises. The world’s glaciers are melting much faster than ever. For low - lying places, even small rises will lead to terrible problems. Tuvalu, a small country in the Pacific Ocean, is asking for help because the sea will swallow it. Maybe we can see only water, not the country in a few years. What’s worse is Tuvalu is not the only place to face going down into the sea. Do you know Venice, a historic city in Italy? Experts say that it will go down another 20 — 50 cm by 2050. It means that millions of people will lose their homes. Scientists say the greatest danger of losing homes lies in southern and eastern parts of Africa and some places along the Pacific and Indian oceans. All of these are mainly caused by a lot of human pollution. All of us are supposed to do something to avoid the problems brought by global warming. We should have fewer greenhouse gases sent off into the air. It’s the most helpful to slow the melting of glaciers down. Our Chinese government, with other countries in the world, is looking for new plans to deal with global warming. If the plans go ahead, and if they work, they can suggest a way to stop the sea level from rising. It’s time for us to take action now. (11)Why do many people have to move to higher ground?___ ______ A. Because of the rising sea level. B. Because of the strange weather. C. Because of the hot conditions. D. Because of the dry conditions. (12)What does the underlined word “swallow” probably mean in Paragraph Two? A. Raise. B. Cover. C. Control. D. Support. (13)Why does the writer use Tuvalu and Venice as examples?_________ A. To explain how the sea level rises. B. To tell us they are small countries. C. To show the result of global warming. D. To ask people to move to higher ground. (14)Where does the greatest danger of losing homes lie according to the passage?_________ A. In the northern part of Africa. B. In the western part of Africa. C. In some places along the Indian oceans. D. In some places along the Atlantic oceans. (15)What is the best title for the text?_________ A. Find ways to stop pollution B. The fruit is round, about the size of a grapefruit (葡萄柚). As monkey oranges are fully grown, they turn from green to yellow. But the flesh (果肉) of the fruit is brown or orange. The monkey orange’s good taste makes it a popular fruit in Africa. People eat it also because it’s good for their health. However, it’s not just a kind of fruit. Monkey orange trees and monkey oranges can play a role in other ways. Monkey orange trees don’t need a lot of rain to grow. So when there is not enough rain and crops (庄稼) don’t grow well, people can eat monkey oranges as their healthy food. People make this fruit into juice or some other drinks.
