Passage 1
(2026·福建龙岩·二模)
Iceland is rich with jaw-dropping sights. Whether you’re booking a trip based on the cost, the weather, the attractions or the crowds, this guide has you covered.
Finest Weather to Visit
The weather is the most pleasant in Iceland during the summer months. That’s when average temperatures can range from 50 to 59 degrees Fahrenheit. There are many people who flock to Iceland during this time to enjoy the warmer temperatures and greener landscapes.
Best Northern Lights Observing Time
The best time to see the Northern Lights is between September and March. Even though Iceland is one of the best places to see the Northern Lights, catching a glimpse (一瞥) of the breathtaking lights is not guaranteed. The conditions need to be just right: clear skies and strong solar activity. Unlike the climate in autumn and spring, the weather can be rough in winter, with lots of rain and snow, which can ultimately ruin your chances of seeing the lights.
Cheapest Visiting Time
The cheapest time to visit Iceland is during its off-peak season, from September to November. It’s also recommended that bargain (便宜货) hunters visit between January and April, and a little research goes a long way when it comes to landing great travel deals. Whether you’re booking a hotel or motel, plan your trip early, do your research and track prices if you have the time. Many apps work on supply and demand, so booking direct with places often has savings attached.
1.When is the best time to visit Iceland regarding the weather?
A.From March to May.
B.Between June and August.
C.In September and November.
D.Around December and February.
2.What’s required for viewing the Northern Lights in Iceland?
A.Friendly companions.
B.Professional equipment.
C.Dependable solar energy.
D.Favorable natural conditions.
3.What does the author suggest about budget travel?
A.Direct booking through apps.
B.Immediate hotel reservation.
C.Careful planning in advance.
D.Frequent bargaining for prices.
【答案】1.B 2.D 3.C

Hanley-Dafoe’s third offering, following Stress Wisely, makes an inspiring case for the power of hope. Drawing on her experience as an educator and wellness scholar “to cultivate (培养) a hope practice,” Hanley-Dafoe roots her argument in the deep effect that a lack of hope — or hopelessness — can have on people, describing that state as like “being trapped in a room without doors or windows.”
Her perspective is not limited to the “internal battle” of the individual; she demonstrates the urgent role that hope plays in society, “offering us purpose when things fall apart. ” Hope is tied, here, to resiliency (韧性), which is “about growing, learning, and unlearning how to show up” — all hopeful acts. Hanley-Dafoe guides readers to move from “understanding hope to embodying it” with the framework of her four-element “hope blocks” model, an original, intuitive (直觉的) “battle board to help you continuously show up with hope. ”
Hanley-Dafoe never shies away from the pressing issues that can arouse hopelessness, such as the climate crisis, and she demonstrates how hope has always fueled movements for change. However, at times she seems to dare readers to turn away from her hope, as in a story about encouraging a child’s dream of playing in the NBA.That moment proves complex, especially when another child complains, “If that kid’s dream comes true, mine won’t.” Hanley-Dafoe builds this into a revealing lesson: in a world damaged by the lack of resources and an “us-vs-them mentality,” many believe that “if something good happened to someone else, there won’t be any good left over for others.”
Written with grace and power, I Hope So encourages readers to grow past such desperate beliefs. Hanley-Dafoe writes with heartening insight about resiliency and offers clear, flexible guidance for finding ways to be more hopeful. What makes the book stand out, though, is its original thinking and an infectious spirit of — what else? — Hope.
1.What is the basis of Hanley-Dafoe’s viewpoint?
A.The successful publication of Stress Wisely.
B.The severe impact of lacking hope on people.
C.Her strong determination of battling hopelessness.
D.Her professional background in education and health.
2.What does Hanley-Dafoe’s “hope blocks” model aim to do?
A.Clarify the urgent role of hope in society.
B.Address the internal battle within every individual.
C.Explain the relationship between hope and resiliency.
D.Shift the focus from understanding hope to practicing it.
3.What does paragraph 3 imply about hope?
A.It drives progress. B.It faces challenges.
C.It ignores reality. D.It favors the lucky.
4.What is the text?
A.A book review. B.A research paper. C.A journal entry. D.A news report.
【答案】1.B 2.D 3.A 4.A

3.推理判断题。根据第三段中“and she demonstrates how hope has always fueled movements for change. (她展示了希望如何一直为变革运动提供动力。)”可知,希望驱动进步,故选A。
4.推理判断题。根据全文内容,结合第一段中“Hanley-Dafoe’s third offering, following Stress Wisely, makes an inspiring case for the power of hope. (Hanley-Dafoe的第三部作品,继《Stress Wisely》之后,进一步阐述了希望的力量,)”和最后一段中“Written with grace and power, I Hope So encourages readers to grow past such desperate beliefs. Hanley-Dafoe writes with heartening insight about resiliency and offers clear, flexible guidance for finding ways to be more hopeful. What makes the book stand out, though, is its original thinking and an infectious spirit of — what else? — Hope.

The museum is home to five halls packed with more than 200 interactive natural-science and technology exhibits and labs, a motion simulator, the state’s most technologically advanced four-story-screen movie theatre, and special seasonal exhibits.
Kansas Union Station
In addition to being one of the most beautiful train stations in the country after a complete restoration of its full Beaux Arts glory, the station is the place to be, even if you’re skipping the rail. EATON CANYON LAND RESTORATION
Thanks to a wonderful outpouring of interest, this opportunity is now full! Registered volunteers will be provided with the parking, transfer buses and other details before the event. We aren’t able to accommodate any unregistered volunteers.
Why:
The Eaton Fire changed this canyon (峡谷) — and the community surrounding it — forever. But Eaton Canyon is recovering. Native plants are returning, wildlife is coming back, and the land is showing signs of obvious recovery. Now, the work is making sure that recovery holds: foreign plants threaten to outcompete the natives, and new trees need to go in the ground to strengthen the ecosystem for decades to come.
Who:
This event is presented by LA County Parks, in partnership with the California Governor’s Office of Service, CalVolunteers, California Climate Action Corps and LA Works, and is the first official event of LA Climate Week.
What to Expect:
●The work takes place on flat rocky land, so wear appropriate shoes. It is predicted to be a warm day, so please bring your water bottles; sunscreen is also advised.
●Tools will be provided.
●A T-shirt will be provided for you to wear.
●Lunch from Fair Oaks Burger will be served for all participants.
●The site and restrooms are accessible.
What’s Required:
Eaton Canyon remains closed to the general public during the ongoing restoration. Access on April 8 is limited to approved, registered volunteers ONLY. Please do not visit the Canyon without prior registration and confirmation.
1.What is the aim of Eaton Canyon Land Restoration?
A.To sustain the recovered ecosystem.
B.To return native plants and wildlife.
C.To change Eaton Canyon land forever.
D.To plant new trees for the following decades.
2.How many organizations cooperate with LA County Parks?
A.3. B.4. C.5. D.6.
3.What do we know about the restoration?
A.Tourists are admitted. B.Parking is forbidden.
C.Bottled water is provided. D.Registration is needed.
