Passage 1
(2026·重庆市高新区中学联盟·一模)
阅读下文并回答问题。
Last week, our school held a speech on the important things in our lives. The following are some students’ sharing.
I know what I value most—the time I spend with my grandparents.
My grandparents live in the countryside. Every weekend, I go to visit them. Grandma always makes my favorite sweet potato cakes. Grandpa teaches me to water the vegetables in his garden. We sit under the old tree after dinner, listening to him tell stories about his childhood.
Now I’m busy with grade 9 studies, so I can’t go there as often. But those happy moments (时刻) are always in my heart. Their love is simple but warm. I know this kind of time is something that I won’t always have. That’s why I value it more than anything else.
What I cherish (珍视) most is time. As a music student, my schedule is filled with professional training and academic courses (学术课程). This has taught me to respect time. I hold on tight to time, not out of pressure, but because it brings me closer to my goals.
My busy schedule also makes me value the time I “waste”. Hanging out with my dog, watching a funny video, traveling abroad with my friends—I know how valuable those moments of “thinking about nothing” truly are.
I cherish my travel memories most. I love traveling and taking pictures, so I record all the fun moments of my trips with my camera. This includes not only the great scenery, but also small stories—a local’s friendly face or a quiet street in the morning. After each trip, I put together a video as my travel journal. As a student, I am under a lot of pressure. But every time I watch my videos, they help me relax and fill my heart with warmth and joy.
1.Does Mary’s grandpa tell her stories after dinner?
2.What did Kevin record with his camera during his trips?
3.What is the common opinion of the three students?
4.What’s important in your life? And why?
【答案】1.Yes, he does. 2.The great scenery and small stories. 3.They all have something they cherish or value most in life. 4.Family is important in my life. Because just like Mary said, the love from family is “simple but warm”, and it gives me strength when I face difficulties.
【导语】本文通过三位中学生玛丽、杰克和凯文的分享,展示了他们对生活中重要事物的不同感悟,涵盖了亲情时光、时间的价值以及旅行的回忆。
1.玛丽的部分提到:“We sit under the old tree after dinner, listening to him tell stories about his childhood.”该原句直接证实了玛丽的爷爷会在晚饭后坐在树下给她讲故事。
2.凯文的部分提到:“…I record all the fun moments of my trips with my camera. This includes not only the great scenery, but also small stories...”原句中明确列举了他用相机记录的内容,即风景和旅途中的小故事。
3.玛丽的部分提到“I know what I value most…”,杰克的部分提到“What I cherish most is time.”,凯文的部分提到“I cherish my travel memories most.”,三人均围绕开头提到的“the important things in our lives”展开,表达了对生命中珍贵事物的重视。
4.本题为开放性试题,答案不唯一。基于文中玛丽提到“…happy moments are always in my heart”以及凯文提到回忆能带来“warmth and joy”的事实,我认为珍视当下的快乐很重要。
Passage 2

阅读下面短文,根据短文内容,完成下列各题。
Every day when Mike and Sally play outside, they see a man walking. He walks with a white stick. He cannot see. He is blind. It always puzzles them. “How can he walk on a busy street?” asks Mike. “It must be very dangerous,” says Sally.
The boy and the girl watch as the man walks. He walks slowly. He walks to the traffic light and then stops. When the light turns green, he starts walking again. He does not hit anything as he walks. “It’s amazing. And it must be scary too,” says Sally. “He knows where to go and where to stop as if he could see.”
One day, the blind man was passing by, and he heard the children talking. He stopped in front of their house. “Hello kids,” he said, “I hear you talking about how I walk.”
“Yes, we always wonder how you know where to go and when to stop on such a busy street. It is safer to stay indoors.”
The man smiled, “I trained myself to listen very well. I listen with my ears for every sound when I am out of the house. I use my cane (手杖) for me too. When my stick bumps (碰到) into something, I know to stop and go around it.”
The man continued, “Yes, it is safer to stay indoors. But I love to walk. I love the hot sun. I love the smell of flowers. I love to hear the birds singing. Most of all, I love to get some exercise.”
Sally said, “Thank you. We have learned something today. We think you are a brave man. We can see. We can walk. We will get some exercise, too. You are a good example for us to follow.”
1.Can the blind man walk on a busy street?
2.Why did the blind man stop in front of their house?
3.How does the blind man walk safely on the busy street?
4.What do you think of the blind man? And why? (About 30 words)
【答案】1.Yes./Yes, he can. 2.Because he heard the children talking about how he walked./Because he heard the children talking. 3.He trained himself to listen carefully to every sound. He also uses his cane. When his stick bumps into something, he knows how to stop and go around it. 4.I think he is brave and positive. Though he is blind, he still loves life and enjoys going outside, which sets a good example for others.
【导语】本文主要讲述了迈克和萨莉对一位盲人能在繁忙街道安全行走感到好奇,盲人解答了他们的疑惑,他对生活的热爱也给孩子们树立了好榜样。
1.根据第二段“He walks to the traffic light and then stops. When the light turns green, he starts walking again. He does not hit anything as he walks.”可知,盲人可以准确判断行进和停下的时机,行走时没有撞到任何东西,能够在繁忙街道行走,所以用肯定回答。
2.原文第三段“One day, the blind man was passing by, and he heard the children talking. He stopped in front of their house.”直接说明,盲人路过的时候听到了孩子们讨论他走路的方式,因此停在了他们的房子前,直接提取原文信息即可。
3.原文第五段“I trained myself to listen very well. I listen with my ears for every sound when I am out of the house. I use my cane (手杖) for me too. When my stick bumps (碰到) into something, I know to stop and go around it.”中,盲人自己解释了安全行走的方法,人称改为第三人称即可得到答案。

Passage 3
(2026·重庆市实验外国语学校·一模)
阅读下面短文,根据短文内容,完成下列各题。
Many of us dream of becoming “somebody” when we grow up. But without enough strength or support, we often feel far away from this goal and even wonder: Should we just give up and “lie flat (平的)” instead?
The popular animated (动画的) hit Nobody tells us not to. In the story, the four little, nameless monsters pretend to be the famous characters from Journey to the West. They leave Langlang Mountain to set out on their own pilgrimage (朝圣之旅). Though others laugh at them, they never get discouraged (泄气的). They keep fighting “bad guys” and live life on their own terms. Their courage wins them wide remembrance (记忆).
This movie is like a mirror. In real life, many ordinary people also choose to hold on to their dreams, even though they face great difficulties.
Pang Zhongwang, a star student at Tsinghua University, is one example. Born into a poor family in Hebei, he faced hard challenges: his late (已故的) mother had a disability and couldn’t work. His father had a serious mental illness. Influenced by his mother, Pang stayed optimistic and took on family duties early. Deep down, this “nobody” also dreamed of becoming “somebody.” With great effort, he got excellent grades and scored an impressive 684 out of 750 in the gaokao.
Pang turns out to be luckier than the four monsters in Nobody. He is much closer to his dream of becoming “somebody”. The piggy and his friends, however, fail in their pilgrimage. But their courage is now remembered by many. In a way, they, too, have grown to become “somebodies”.
Now, what do you want to do with your big dreams? Clearly, if you “lie flat”, you’ll remain a “nobody”. We wish you good luck as you try to break out of your own “Langlang Mountain”!
1.Was Pang Zhongwang born into a poor family?
2.Why do the four little, nameless monsters in the story leave Langlang Mountain?
3.What are the similarities between the story of “Langlang Mountain” and Pang Zhongwang’s experience?
4.What is your big dream? What will you do to make your big dream come true?
【答案】1.Yes, he was. 2.To set out on their own pilgrimage (after pretending to be the famous characters from Journey to the West). 3.They both face great difficulties but never give up/hold on to their dreams. 4.My big dream is to become a doctor. I will study hard, keep learning new knowledge, and never give up even when I face difficulties.
【导语】本文通过动画电影《浪浪山小妖怪》和清华学子庞众望的真实经历,说明即使出身平凡、困难重重,只要坚持梦想、不“躺平”,普通人也能成为“大人物”。
1.第四段直接指出“Born into a poor family in Hebei”,这是原文直接信息,应肯定回答。
2.第二段指出四人离开浪浪山的原因“They leave Langlang Mountain to set out on their own pilgrimage”,结合前文“pretend to be the famous characters from Journey to the West”,整合为答案,为原文直接信息。
3.第三段指出“many ordinary people also choose to hold on to their dreams, even though they face great difficulties”,并将电影与现实中庞众望的经历相呼应。两者都是“nobody”在困境中坚持追梦。
4.本题为开放性试题,答案不唯一。需结合文章主题“坚持追梦”,表达自己的梦想及实现梦想的具体做法,言之成理即可。
主题02 人与社会——教育问题
Passage 1
(2026·重庆一中·一模)
阅读下文并回答问题。
Ita-Bags: A Popular Campus Trend (趋势)Ita-bags are very popular among middle school students these days. They first came from Japan. Most ita-bags are transparent (透明的), and students like to put all kinds of small things on them, such as cartoon character badges, cute keychains, soft plush toys, and beautiful stickers. These decorations usually show their favorite cartoons, games, or idols.
The word “ita” means “painful” in Japanese. It is called this because fans often spend a lot of time and money collecting these cute but sometimes expensive items. For middle school students, ita-bags are more than just ordinary bags.
Welcome to Teens Vogue. I’m the reporter. Today, we invited some students to share their opinions on ita-bags, which are the most popular bags among teenagers on our campus.
Reporter: Hi! Could you tell us why you like carrying an ita-bag to school? (He Jie): When I take my ita-bag to school, classmates who like the same cartoon characters often come up to talk with me. We can happily share our ideas and get along well with each other. That’s the most important reason why I like it.
(Cao Kexin): My ita-bag is different from other students’ schoolbags. I can choose and put anything I really like on it, so it becomes special and belongs only to me.
Reporter: Hello! May I know why you don’t think ita-bags are good for middle school students?
(Sun Zichen): The colorful decorations on ita-bags are really eye-catching. In class, students may easily get distracted by them instead of focusing on the teacher. Then they can hardly listen carefully or take good notes. They may fail the exams.
(Wang Haoran): I don’t like ita-bags. The decorations for ita-bags are usually quite expensive. Many students keep buying new charms and badges for their bags. Over time, it becomes a big cost, and it’s not easy for them to afford it.
(Yang Lin): Some students like to put a lot of decorations on their schoolbags to make them look special. However, these things add much weight to the bags. Carrying heavy schoolbags for a long time can bring pain to students’ necks, shoulders and backs, and even influence their daily walking styles.
1.Are most of the ita-bags transparent?
2.Why does Cao Kexin think her ita-bag is special and belongs only to her?
3.What are the bad influences of ita-bags according to the passage?
4.How should we face popular trends? Give your advice. (about 30 words)
【答案】1.Yes, most of the ita-bags are transparent. 2.Because she can choose and put anything she really likes on it, it becomes special and belongs only to her. 3.Students may get distracted in class and fail exams. The decorations are expensive, and students may spend too much money. Heavy bags can cause pain to students’ necks, shoulders, and backs, and even influence their walking styles. 4.We should keep a balanced attitude toward popular trends. It’s fine to enjoy them, but we must not let them affect our studies, health, or family budgets at any time.
2.根据原文“Cao Kexin”所说“I can choose and put anything I really like on it, so it becomes special and belongs only to me.”可知,她认为能选择并把自己真正喜欢的东西放在上面,所以她的Ita-Bag很特别且只属于她,这是直接引用原文内容作答。
3.根据“Sun Zichen”所说“The colorful decorations on ita-bags are really eye-catching. In class, students may easily get distracted by them instead of focusing on the teacher. Then they can hardly listen carefully or take good notes. They may fail the exams.”可知,Ita-Bags的彩色装饰会让学生在课堂上分心,难以认真听讲和记笔记,可能导致考试不及格;根据“Wang Haoran”所说“The decorations for ita-bags are usually quite expensive. Many students keep buying new charms and badges for their bags. Over time, it becomes a big cost, and it’s not easy for them to afford it.”可知,Ita-Bags的装饰通常很贵,学生不断购买新饰品,会花费很多钱;根据“Yang Lin”所说“Some students like to put a lot of decorations on their schoolbags to make them look special. However, these things add much weight to the bags. Carrying heavy schoolbags for a long time can bring pain to students’ necks, shoulders and backs, and even influence their daily walking styles.”

Studying Abroad: A Decision to Be Made with CareStudying abroad is a popular choice of many students for their future plans. However, in recent years, an increasing number of people have started to think about it rationally (理性地).
Studying abroad can open up new chances for students. However, there is still a lot they need to face.
When abroad, they may feel uncomfortable, confused or even upset because they find the local culture quite different from theirs at home. For example, a student might find that people in the new country have different table manners, celebrate different holidays, or have different ideas about what is polite or impolite.
If the student is not fluent (流利) in the language spoken in the new country, they might find it difficult to communicate effectively with others. This can make simple tasks, like shopping or asking for directions, quite challenging.
—Wang Li (mother of twin girls)
Studying overseas can be an exciting adventure for many students, but it often comes with a high price tag (标签). When a student decides to further his education in another country, he must prepare to face the problem—it may be a huge burden (负担) for the family. It includes not just the money they pay for classes, known as tuition fees, but also that they need to pay for the day-to-day living such as food, housing, and transportation.
For example, David, the son of my boss, is now studying in England. He spends a surprising amount of money covering both his education and living. It costs him about 40,000 pounds in total each year! It might not be affordable for everyone.
It’s of great importance for students and their families to carefully think about it before deciding to study abroad.
—Zhang Yi (father of one boy)
(A talk between two teenagers, Vivian and Gina)
Vivian: Hey! I heard you were thinking about studying in America. Is that true?
Gina: Yeah, I’ve always dreamed of it. But recently, I’m not so sure.
Vivian: Why the change? I thought you were a big fan of American culture.
Gina: Well, but is it necessary for me to go abroad if I want to be a teacher in the future?
Vivian: That’s a good question. I never thought about it like that.
Gina: Studying abroad is a big decision. I have to think it through carefully.
1.Can studying abroad open up new chances for students?
2.How much does David spend on education and living every year?
3.According to the passage, what do people consider before deciding to study abroad?
4.Suppose you are Gina. Will you study abroad? Please explain. (About 30 words)

Additionally, the cost of studying abroad is high, and I prefer to use that money to support my education and future career development in China.

Passage 3
(2025·重庆·一模)
“Lying down” (also known as tang ping), has become a hot word among young Chinese people these days. The idea of low material needs and being willing to accept whatever life gives them is described as a “lying down” lifestyle.
Some young people complain that to raise a child needs too much money and they often get into a fight with their family. At the same time, the rising living costs including food and housing have pushed them so hard that they could hardly breathe. Some want to lie down because their tiring jobs, competition with peers, as well as personal relationships force them to run away.
On the other hand, with the great improvement of living conditions, it is true that some Chinese youth today have lost the spirit of fighting hard for a better life. “I stay at home, sleep and watch TV series, and I’m pleased with what I have now. Actually, there are many people around me who value happiness and freedom most,” said Daisy, who left her job two weeks ago. No wonder that some young people would choose to live a simple way instead of always following the good quality of fighting hard.
Interestingly, most young people, who are “big fans” of the “lying down” lifestyle, point out that they only accept a temporary (暂时的) lying down as a short rest. In fact, lying down is not totally comfortable for them. Most young people who lie down always regard it as a lack of ambition (抱负、夙愿) and feel ashamed (羞耻的) about it.
“Young people have both ambition and confusion (困惑) about their future, but most of us have refused to waste chances and challenges,” a college student said.
1.Do most young people really enjoy the “lying down” lifestyle according to the passage?
2.What is a “lying-down” lifestyle?
3.What do most young people regard the “lying down” lifestyle as?
4.Do you think the “lying down” lifestyle is the best way to deal with difficulties in your life? Why or why not?
【答案】1.No./No, they don’t. 2.It is the idea of low material needs and being willing to accept whatever life gives people. 3.A lack of ambition. 4.No. Because young people should have ambition, face the reality and accept challenges.(答案不唯一,合理即可)
1.根据“Most young people who lie down always regard it as a lack of ambition (抱负、夙愿) and feel ashamed (羞耻的) about it”可知,大多数年轻人不喜欢“躺平”的生活方式。故填No./No, they don’t.
2.根据“The idea of low material needs and being willing to accept whatever life gives them is described as a ‘lying down’ lifestyle.”可知,“躺平”的生活方式是低物质需求和愿意接受生活赋予他们的一切的想法。故填It is the idea of low material needs and being willing to accept whatever life gives people.
3.根据“Most young people who lie down always regard it as a lack of ambition (抱负、夙愿) and feel ashamed (羞耻的) about it”可知,大多数躺平的年轻人认为这是缺乏抱负的表现。故填A lack of ambition.
4.本题是开放性题目,回答合理即可。例如:我认为“躺平”的生活方式并不是处理生活中困难的最好方式,因为年轻人应该有抱负、面对现实且接受挑战。故填No. Because young people should have ambition, face the reality and accept challenges.

Chen Sheng, a young man from Meitan, Guizhou Province, feels that he really wants to help older people. Raised by his grandparents, he has always wanted to make the lives of the elderly better. After graduating in 2017 with a healthcare degree, he finished eight months of training at a local hospital and then started working at a nursing home.
At first, his work was harder than he thought. He woke up early every day at 6 a.m. to help with morning tasks and gave close care to those who could not get out of bed. His day often lasted until 11 p.m. Although he sometimes thought about stopping, the friendly smiles and trust from the people living there made him want to keep doing his work.
Chen Sheng uses his medical knowledge carefully. He gives regular health checkups, offers advice on what to eat and how to live, and helps the older people get healthier. Grandpa Li said, “When I came here, I was very weak and could only lie in bed. After two months of Chen Sheng’s help, I could walk again. Life here is good—daily services and medical care are just like at home.”
Besides physical help, Chen Sheng listens patiently when the elderly feel sad or worried. Grandma Sun likes to talk with him every day and often shares important stories. She feels happy and comforted because of the time and care he gives her. Her family is thankful for the care and attention Chen Sheng always gives her.

阅读下面短文,根据短文内容,完成下列各题。
Zhang Hongwu, the 42-year-old restorer (修复者) of cultural relics (文物), is part of a team who are responsible for repairing the Terracotta Army.
Pointing to the life-size Terracotta Warriors, Zhang said, “These are pieces of history that have been carefully preserved (保存). More than 2000 years has passed by, but you can still see the amount of detail on the figures (塑像).”
Zhang said his team aims to bring back the relics’ original appearances by using the principle of minimum intervention (最小干预)—to preserve as much of them as they used to be. During the past 25 years, working in the Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum, Zhang has restored more than 150 of the figures. In 1993, Zhang graduated from Northwest University in Xi’an with a major (专业) in cultural heritage (遗产) and three years later he started the work on restoring Terracotta Warriors.
To become a successful professional restorer, the first step is to have a strict training program. In the first two years, Zhang was not allowed to touch the relics. And he was told to “observe, remember and read”. His first task after his training ended was to search for missing parts of the figures among the piled fragments (残片). Sometimes he was unable to find a single missing piece and often asked his teacher when he could start to repair a complete Terracotta Warrior.
What’s more challenging is that the technology which is used to restore the figures has changed over the years, but the whole process is still very complicated. The Terracotta Warriors are very fragile, and the restorers try to piece them together before applying special glue to stick them, which always takes quite a long time. Over the years, the restorers have become used to the fact that hardly anything can be done in a very short period of time.
“However, with more and more young people choosing to major in restoration in universities, we are happy to see ________.” Zhang said confidently.
1.Does Zhang Hongwu work as a restorer?
2.How many figures has Zhang restored during the past 25 years?
3.To be a successful restorer, what is important according to the passage?
4.Please finish Zhang’s words in your own words. (at least 20 words)
【答案】1.Yes, he does. 2.More than 3. 4.Strict training. 5.that the ancient restoration skills can be passed down and more cultural relics will be well protected in the future.

On the second floor of a hospital in Shanghai, Dr. Wu Mengchao’s office looks just as he left it. His white doctor’s coat, with the number “0001”, still hangs there. A calendar on his desk shows the date he passed away—May 22nd, 2021.
Dr. Wu was known as the “father of liver surgery (肝脏手术)” in China. His small office is filled with old medical notes and letters from different patients. On each letter, he wrote how many years the patient lived after surgery—some patients lived for 20 or even 30 years. His students said there were so many thank-you letters.
On the shelves, there are hand-drawn pictures of the liver from the 1960s. At that time, Dr. Wu and his team worked hard to start liver surgery in China. Throughout his medical career, he wrote notes about every patient, saying, “Every patient teaches me something new.”
He lived such a simple life. His desk holds a simple glass cup he used for 20 years, and his closet (衣柜) has only a few old uniforms. He always turned off the lights before leaving his office.
Though Dr. Wu is no longer here, his words still encourage others: “The world needs more people who are willing to give.” From a young doctor to a famous doctor, Dr. Wu’s life shows what it means to care for others. His coat, his notes, and his kind heart remind us of a true doctor.

In a follow-up study, the deputies found that the ancient tree was not protected by any law. So the deputies wrote their suggestions into a report and sent it to the Fuzhou Municipal People’s Congress.
On March 15, 2025, China introduced its first national level rules to protect ancient trees. The new rules contribute a lot to the protection of ancient trees. They consider all trees over 100 years old as ancient. And they make them known to people around. Besides, after finding these trees, experts will go to check them and watch over each tree’s growth, with special signs placed nearby. What’s more, each tree will have a “tree keeper” to look after it every day. Now, about10, 000 ancient trees across Fuzhou are protected almost 10 times more than before.
The camphor tree in Xujia village stands taller than ever, its branches once again stretching like a protective umbrella over the community.
1.Is the camphor tree an ancient tree?
2.Why did the workers try to move the camphor tree?
3.How do the rules help the ancient trees?
4.Why do you think ancient trees need special protection? Give reasons. (at least 30 words)
【答案】1.Yes, it is. 2.To clear space for a new project. 3.The rules identify ancient trees, raise public awareness, arrange expert checks, place special signs, and assign daily caretakers. 4.Ancient trees need special protection because they have historical and ecological value, representing natural heritage. Their loss would be irreversible, as seen in the camphor tree’s damage. Proper care ensures their survival for future generations.

4.开放性作答,结合实际,言之有理即可。参考答案为Ancient trees need special protection because they have historical and ecological value, representing natural heritage. Their loss would be irreversible, as seen in the camphor tree’s damage. Proper care ensures their survival for future generations.
Passage 2
(2026·重庆市开州区德阳初中教育集团·一模)
About 40 years ago, people only saw a few small areas of plants on the Antarctic Peninsula (南极半岛) in Antarctica. These plants covered a total area of about 740 square meters, which is less than the area of a football field.
Since then, however, this place has been turning green quickly. A new study shows that plants have covered more than 12 million square meters. That’s nearly four times the size of New York’s Central Park! And the greening has sped up by 30 percent since 2016.
“Our findings show that the influence of climate change can reach everywhere,” said Thomas Roland, the leader of the study. “Even in the most remote (偏远的) places like Antarctica, the landscape is changing.” Antarctica is the coldest place on Earth. But it has recently been troubled by extreme (极端的) heat events. In July 2024, a record-breaking heat wave hit parts of Antarctica. Temperatures were about 10℃ above normal in mid-July. As the planet heats up, Antarctica will keep warming, the scientists say. That is to say, this greening is only likely to happen faster.
As Antarctica greens up more, more soil will form. Plants from other places will be more likely to live here. They may harm Antarctica’s native (本地的) wildlife. “Small pieces of plants can easily find their way here through people who come to visit. They may also arrive through more traditional ways—birds and the wind,” Roland said.
These influences are likely to remain local. At present, the Antarctic landscape is still almost all snow, ice and rock. In the long run, however, they could further increase the growth of plants as the weather continues to warm. The landscape here could be changed forever.
1.Were there many green plants on the Antarctic Peninsula 40 years ago?
2.According to scientists, what will happen as Antarctica gets warmer?
3.What may influence the native animals when the greening keep going?
4.Do you think teenagers like you can help stop Antarctica from getting too green? Why or why not?
【答案】1.No./No, there weren’t. 2.The greening will happen faster. 3.Plants from other places. 4.Yes, I think so. Because I think we can help stop it by telling our families and friends to save energy at home. If more people save energy, it can help slow down global warming, and then Antarctica won’t get too green too fast./No, I don’t think so. Because the problem is so big. We teenagers don’t know how to do big things to stop it. It needs grown-ups and scientists to work on it./…
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。讲述的是由于全球气温上升,南极的景观在变绿,这对南极的生态构成了极大的威胁。
1.根据第一段“About 40 years ago, people only saw a few small areas of plants on the Antarctic Peninsula in Antarctica.”可知,大约40年前,人们只在南极洲的南极半岛上看到几个小片的植物区域,所以,绿色植物不是很多。故填No./No, there weren’t.
2.根据第三段“As the planet heats up, Antarctica will keep warming, the scientists say. That is to say, this greening is only likely to happen faster.”可知,随着地球变暖,科学家们表示,南极洲将继续变暖,也就是说,这种绿化只会加速发生。故填The greening will happen faster.
3.根据第四段“As Antarctica greens up more, more soil will form. Plants from other places will be more likely to live here.”可知,随着南极洲变得更绿,将形成更多的土壤,来自其他地方的植物将更有可能在这里生存,所以,当绿化持续进行时,可能会影响本地动物的因素是来自其他地方的植物。故填Plants from other places.
4.通读全文,针对南极洲变得过于绿色,青少年会有不同的想法,比如,减缓全球变暖的速度,应是节约能源或青少年会认为,阻止南极洲变得过于绿色是成年人或科学家该考虑的问题。故填Yes, I think so. Because I think we can help stop it by telling our families and friends to save energy at home. If more people save energy, it can help slow down global warming, and then Antarctica won’t get too green too fast./No, I don’t think so. Because the problem is so big. Passage 1

And why?

With more people needing help, many young workers like Chen Sheng—especially those born after 2000—have joined nursing homes and work hard to make life better for older people.
1.Does Chen Sheng feel that he really wants to help older people?
2.What made Chen Sheng want to keep doing his work?
3.What qualities (品质) does Chen Sheng have?
4.As teens, would you like to work in elderly care in the future? Why or why not?

A group of middle school students in yellow vests gathered excitedly outside the Guiyang International Convention and Exhibition Center. They were chosen by the Guanshanhu District Media Center and would work as bilingual (双语) reporters at the 2025 China International Big Data (大数据) Industry Expo for the first time. Li Yihan and Wang Zini were among them and their English abilities were quite different. Li was good at reading and writing, but she was too shy to speak in public. Wang, however, was active and enjoyed talking with others, but she had a very small vocabulary.
To get fully ready for the big event, they took professional pre-job training and tried their best to improve their English. Li practiced speaking English every day. She read interview scripts (稿子) loudly in front of the mirror, recorded her voice and compared it with native speakers’. She also remembered some useful big data words. Wang took an active part in role-play activities and wrote down new words in a notebook to review them very often.
During the expo, they talked with international exhibitors (参展商) and reported on amazing new technologies like drone (无人机) soccer. Speaking English was not easy for the two 14-year-old students, especially when facing difficult technical terms (专业术语). But they quickly found a good way out. They changed the topic to daily life and cultural communication, such as introducing Guiyang’s local food. They were nervous at first, but the exhibitors’ warmth helped them relax soon.
1.Were Li Yihan’s and Wang Zini’s English abilities the same?
2.How did they deal with difficult technical terms when talking with international exhibitors?
3.What do the two students have in common during this whole experience?
4.Do you think it is necessary for middle school students to take part in such social practice activities? Why or why not? (about 30 words)

Dear friends,
Recently, more and more young people in China choose to start their own businesses in their hometowns to help with rural revitalization (振兴) , instead of working in big cities. Are you among them? Please share your stories.
Li Na
I have had a deep love for traditional Chinese food since I was a child. After graduation, I went back to my hometown and became a local food vlogger. I think this job is very meaningful. I shoot short videos of making hometown snacks like sweet rice cakes and hand pulled noodles, and share them online. This helps promote local food culture, drive the sales of hometown ingredients, and boost the local economy. Many viewers said they learned to make the delicious food through my videos. I hope more people can know and love our traditional food culture, and help my hometown develop better.
Zhang Wei
I used to work in a big city as an office worker, sitting in front of the computer all day. I was tired of the busy city life, so I returned to my hometown. Now I am a rural tour guide, and I find this job really meaningful. I lead tourists from all over the country to visit my hometown’s beautiful mountains and rivers, and tell them interesting local stories. This brings more tourists to my hometown, helps local businesses grow, and promotes rural revitalization. The job is tiring but I never feel bored. I really enjoy sharing the beauty of my hometown with others and helping my hometown become more famous.
Chen Yu
I have loved making traditional handicrafts since I was a kid. After graduation, I came back to my hometown and became a bamboo craft maker. I think this job is meaningful and I feel proud of it. My job is to make bamboo baskets, bamboo fans and other handmade crafts with local bamboo. Many tourists buy my crafts as souvenirs (纪念品) . This not only keeps our traditional skills alive, but also helps local villagers increase their income and develop the local handicraft industry. I feel proud every time I help my hometown achieve better development through my meaningful work.
1.Did Zhang Wei use to work as an office worker in a big city?
2.What does Li Na do as a local food vlogger?
3.What makes the three young people choose to start businesses in their hometowns?

Dear friends,
More young people are choosing to leave busy cities and return to the countryside to start new careers (事业). What do they do and how do they feel? Let’s read their warm stories.

Where will you go when you are free? A bar, a shopping mall, or just home? Well, these choices may be outdated for young people today. Instead, they prefer to stay in a café with cats or dogs, known as a pet café.
Pet cafés have become popular places, offering visitors a chance to take away stress from busy days by spending time with cute animals. This trend has grown so much that there are over 3,500 cat café-related companies and more than 200 dog café-related businesses in the country.
Among these cafés, Jenny, a pet lover, prefers a stray (流浪的) cat café in Beijing. She visits it twice a week and is especially drawn to a cat named Naninai. “It’s a quiet and clean place,” Jenny says. “I learned that many cats here are rescued strays, and I’m happy to see them living better lives.”
Jenny always orders a coffee and a dessert while enjoying a relaxing afternoon surrounded by cats. “I can always have fun with a cat, especially after a week’s schoolwork.” She added.
The café owner notes they’ve welcomed a group of customers. Some come for the comfortable presence (陪伴) of the cats while others visit to give away food to them or take them home. Li Baoguo was a college teacher in Hebei Province. But he wasn’t happy just to give lessons in a classroom. Li played a part in helping farmers and improving their agricultural techniques (农业技术) in all his life. In 2016, the year he died, President Xi said he was like the “old man Yugong on the Taihang Mountains”.
In fact, Li did one of his most important things in the Taihang Mountains. He heard that there were many poor people in the villages. Li knew that the villagers wanted to do something good to the lifeless mountains but had difficulty growing crops and trees there.
To solve this, he started teaching the villagers to dig the land and grow apple trees and other crops. When Li first started working with the villagers, they were careless about some of his techniques. So, he organized more than 800 training sessions (课程) and wrote books to show them how his ideas could help them. Slowly, people started to believe him and follow his advice on farming. After 1981, it took him more than 200 days of every year to work with the villagers. At last, people there covered the mountains with trees and crops (庄稼) successfully, which helped the villagers make money. Li worked in the countryside for 35 years and helped about 100, 000 farmers get themselves out of poverty (贫穷).

1.Does Dr. Wu’s office stay the same as before?
2.What did Dr. Wu write on each patient’s thank-you letter?
3.What are the good qualities of Dr. Wu? List at least 3 qualities.

At Xujia village in Fuzhou, Fujian province, an camphor tree stands proudly. Now over 100 years old, like a huge umbrella, it has offered a place for people to relax. However, the tree faced a great challenge around two years ago.
In January 2023, workers tried to move the camphor tree to clear space for a new project.
Their carelessness cost the tree all its leaves and branches.
Locals were shocked. Luckily, they knew where to turn for help. They found Zheng Shuhong, a deputy to the Fuzhou Municipal People’s Congress (福州市人大代表), who was responsible for environmental protection. To solve the problem, Zheng with two other deputies reported the problem to the local government and successfully stopped the project.
