一、过去进行时的构成与基本用法

1. 构成：过去进行时由                                  构成：

◦ 主语为I / He / She / It时，用          + 动词-ing

◦ 主语为We / You / They时，用         + 动词-ing

2. 核心用法：表示在过去             或                 正在进行的动作，常搭配时间状语（如at 8:00 last night, at the time of the typhoon等）。

◦ 例句1：What were your family doing when the typhoon hit?

翻译：台风来袭时，我们正在读书。                                            

◦ 例句2：What were you doing while it was snowing heavily?

翻译：下大雪时，我正在坐火车旅行。                                            

3. 句式结构表：

肯定句	否定句	一般疑问句
I / He / She was working.	I / He / She was not (wasn't) working.	Was she working? 回答：Yes, she was. / No, she wasn't.
We / You / They were working.	We / You / They were not (weren't) working.	Were you working? 回答：Yes, I was. / No, I wasn't.

 

二、when与while的用法辨析

1. when 引导的从句动作多用               （时态），主句用               （时态）

e.g. We were driving home when the strong winds started.翻译：                          

2.while 引导的从句动作多用          （时态），主句可用          或          （时态）

e.g. While we were driving home, the strong winds started.翻译：                          

►小贴士：当主从句都为持续性动作时，when和while都可用，且都用过去进行时：

It was raining hard while we were driving back.翻译：                        

We were reading when/while the typhoon was hitting.翻译：
