Having healthy eating habits is really necessary for everyone, especially for middle school students. It can help us grow well, study better and keep away from illness. Here are some useful eating tips for you.
Don’t eat the same food on repeat
To eat a healthy diet, we should not eat the same food all the time. Different kinds of food offer different vitamins and nutrients (营养) to our bodies. Experts suggest we should “eat the rainbow”. That means we need to eat food in different natural colors every week. Purple cabbage, orange carrots, red tomatoes, white tofu are all healthy choices.
Don’t eat in front of the TV
We should avoid eating in front of the TV or mobile phones. When we are distracted (使分心) by screens, we usually eat more than we need without realizing it. Watching TV influences our ability to control how much we eat. The right way is to enjoy meals with family or friends. If we eat alone, we should just focus on our food and enjoy it carefully.
Don’t skip breakfast
We have all been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. People who eat breakfast every morning take in more necessary nutrients. However, those who often miss breakfast eat more carbohydrates and sugar at lunch, dinner or between meals. It is bad for our stomach and health.
All in all, forming these healthy eating habits is not difficult. If we keep doing so, we will be stronger and more energetic in our daily life and study.
1. Which student is much healthier?
A. Tom, who likes delicious food.
B. David, who likes food in different colors.
C. Ann, who eats the same food every day.
D. Alice, who enjoys the rainbow in summer.
2. Why shouldn’t students eat in front of the TV?
A. Because it causes eating too much. B. Because it makes food less tasty.
C. Because they may eat slowly. D. Because they need more vegetables.
3. What will happen if we miss breakfast often?
A. We will take in less sugar. B. We will lose weight.
C. We will eat more food later. D. We will feel much happier.

Stephen, a Frenchman, now fills his life with Chinese elements (因素): practicing qigong, visiting ancient towns, going to local markets, and chatting with friends in Mandarin (普通话).
“Twenty-five years ago, when I first came to China, I couldn’t speak a single word of Chinese. Now, my friends call me ‘China Hand’,” said the 65-year-old Stephen.
In 2000, at the age of 40, Stephen arrived in Nanjing from a small town in northern France to work at a French-owned glassware factory. “There weren’t many foreigners in Nanjing at that time, and I often felt curious eyes on me,” he recalled. Before coming to China, he had worried about the language problems and loneliness, but his Chinese workmates treated him like family.
Starting with everyday phrases like “méi wèntí” (no problem) and “chīfàn le ma” (have you eaten yet), Stephen’s Chinese improved rapidly. Today, he speaks Mandarin well and even understands a bit of the Nanjing, Shanghai, and Chongqing dialects (方言).
Later, Stephen worked in Shanghai and met his wife, who comes from Jiangjin, Chongqing. He built a happy family in China. In 2023, Stephen and his wife moved to Jiangjin to enjoy a slower and more relaxing life. His wife opened a café, and Stephen made many new local friends. He likes Chongqing people because they are straightforward and honest.
Stephen loves traditional Chinese culture deeply. He studies Confucianism and Taoism, and he likes the idea of “wu wei”. He often practices Baduanjin qigong and enjoys the beauty of Chinese culture.
Over the past 25 years, Stephen has felt much kindness and warmth in China. He often shares his wonderful life in China online with friends at home and abroad. He believes more and more foreigners will come to China, understand China and fall in love with this great country, just as he does.
4. What made Stephen feel at home when he came to China?
A. The job in France. B. The warmth of his Chinese workmates.
C. The delicious food in Nanjing. D. The improvement of his Chinese.

A. They work really hard.
B. They enjoy a more relaxing life.
C. They are easy to get along with.
D. Coffee is their favorite drink.
6. How does Stephen feel about his life in China?
A. Lonely. B. Tiring. C. Busy. D. Comfortable.
7. From the passage, what can we learn about Stephen?
A. He goes back to France very often.
B. He has a deep love for China.
C. He likes living in big cities better.
D. He thinks Chinese is too hard to learn.

①New Zealand’s kakapos are some of the strangest birds in the world. They’re heavy, flightless parrots that are only active at night. And there’re only a few. Now, thanks to great protection, kakapos may be coming back. Scientists are expecting more kakapo chicks to be born this year.
②Kakapos are only found in New Zealand. About the size of a cat, they’re the world’s heaviest parrots, and can weigh as much as nine pounds. Since they can’t fly, they spend most of their time on the ground. But they can also use their wings to help them balance as they jump between tree branches.
③The faces of kakapos look a little like owls (猫头鹰). And their bodies are covered in green, yellow, and black feathers that help them hide in the leaves around them. The birds can be almost impossible to be found, but they have a strong smell. Long ago, there were large numbers of kakapos in New Zealand. But after humans arrived, their numbers dropped quickly. This was partly because of hunting, and partly because the forests they lived in got cut down.
④In the early 1970s, scientists worried that kakapos might have disappeared. But in 1977, one last group of kakapos were found. Even so, just 30 years ago, in 1995, there were only 51 kakapos remaining. Scientists worked really hard to protect the remaining birds. And they took some steps to help make sure the birds had as many babies as possible, and that the chicks survived.
⑤...
⑥On Valentine’s Day, scientists had a kakapo chick for the first time in four years. And then another, and another. So far, 52 kakapo chicks have been born this year. They hope that in five to 10 years, the kakapos will be on their way to a better future.
8. Which of the following is TRUE about kakapos?
A. People can see this kind of bird everywhere.
B. They are black and white with a strong smell.
C. They fly high and keep active all day long.
D. They are about the size of a cat and can jump between tree branches.
9. What made kakapos disappear?
A. The weather was really changeable. B. Human activities influenced them.
C. Other animals could catch them easily. D. Forests often caught fire.
10. What might Paragraph 5 talk about?
A. When scientists found kakapos.
B. Which foods were the best for kakapos.
C. How scientists help kakapos have babies.
D. Why green kakapos can’t fly.
11. What’s the best title for the passage?
A. Kakapo parrots are on the road to recovery B. Some reports about animals
C. Better ways to save the earth D. Kakapo parrots’ living habits
D 9. B 10. C 11. A
第二段提到它们的大小像猫,并能用翅膀保持平衡在树枝间跳跃“About the size of a cat, they’re the world’s heaviest parrots, and can weigh as much as nine pounds.…But they can also use their wings to help them balance as they jump between tree branches.”。A(随处可见)错误;B(黑白且有强烈气味)错误,羽毛为绿、黄、黑色;C(高飞且全天活跃)错误,它们不会飞且只在夜间活动。
D
①You might think of artificial intelligence (AI) as something from a science fiction movie. But in hospitals today, AI is already working quietly behind the scenes. It’s not replacing doctors. Instead, it’s giving them superpowers.
②One of the most powerful ways AI helps is by looking at medical pictures. The AI learned to find out what doctors might not notice right away. They act like a second pair of eyes. They don’t make the final decision—the doctor does.
③Another way is that it helps predict the future. At the University of Florida, researchers developed an AI model that can predict which patients are at the biggest risk of developing serious breathing problems. The AI can help doctors decide who needs the care most. And an AI system is able to predict their chances of survival better than traditional methods. Having better predictions helps doctors and families make better decisions about treatment.
④AI also helps in the emergency room. Researchers in Italy developed an AI system to help predict which patients coming into the emergency room are at risk of dying in 30 days. By looking at information and lab results, the AI can flag patients who need attention at once.
⑤However, AI in medicine still has limitations (限制性). AI can sometimes make mistakes, especially when the data (数据) looks different from what it was trained on. There’s also unfairness (不公平) sometimes. For example, an AI model used to predict which patients would benefit from medical support, it would always treat white people than black people with the same level of illness. Scientists are now working hard to make sure new AI tools are fair for everyone.
⑥AI is not a magic solution. It’s a very powerful tool — that helps doctors do their jobs better. It works best when it’s with human doctors.
12. What can AI predict in hospitals in Paragraph 3?
a. What might happen to a patient.
b. Who needs the care most.
c. Whether the patients can survive.
d. Which new virus will appear.
A. abc B. abd C. acd D. bcd
13. Which of the underlined word has the same meaning as “flag” in paragraph 4?
A. A flag is flying in the sky.
B. Her confidence never flagged.
C. They reached the top and flagged on it.
D. The report flagged the dangers of smoking.
14. What does Paragraph 5 mainly talk about?
A. AI isn’t really perfect. B. Medicine is not helpful.
C. Doctors need more training. D. Black people have the most support.
15. What’s the role of AI in hospitals?
A. It is replacing doctors and nurses.
B. It helps doctors look for patients.
C. It makes final decisions for doctors.
D. It finds out what doctors don’t notice.
A 13. D 14. A 15. D
根据第三段内容“predict which patients are at the biggest risk of developing serious breathing problems”、 “decide who needs the care most”和“predict their chances of survival better than traditional methods”可知,AI能够做的是abc三项。
第四段中the AI can flag patients who need attention at once的flag意为“标记、指出”。
第五段开头提到“However, AI in medicine still has limitations”,并举例说明AI会出错、存在不公平性,核心是说明AI并非完美无缺。
文中第一段明确说“It’s not replacing doctors”,AI不会取代医生护士,A选项表述有误。文中提到AI不是帮医生找病人,而是辅助诊断和预测,B选项表述也有误;文中第二段最后一句说“They don’t make the final decision—the doctor does”,最终决策由医生做出,所以C选项表述也存在错误。文中第二段中提出“The AI learned to find out what doctors might not notice right away.”,AI能发现医生可能忽略的问题,与D选项表述一致。

writing(写作),selling(售卖),attracting(吸引)都不是电台播放音乐的动作,与上下文不符。
后文提到听众把电台当老师、和主持人有情感联结,说明电台不只是娱乐工具,而是有深层影响,deep(深刻的)契合这种情感价值;simple(简单的),changeable(多变的),strange(奇怪的)都无法体现电台对听众的特殊意义。
后文提到她喜欢主持人分享的情感和故事,说明她和主持人之间有情感纽带,connection(联结)符合语境;choice(选择),communication(交流),balance(平衡)都无法体现这种双向的情感羁绊。
前文提到电台停播、频道消失,这里的“这一切”指电台的节目和陪伴,disappeared(消失)对应停播的事实;improved(改善),returned(返回),arrived(到达)都与电台停播的语境矛盾。
前文听众因电台消失而失落,后文却提到电台以新形式延续,是积极的转机,Luckily(幸运的是)能引出这种转折;Finally(最终),Personally(就个人而言),Usually(通常)都无法体现这种“失落之后迎来转机”的情绪变化。
前文提到听众与电台、主持人有多年的情感联结,相聚时自然会分享过往的经历,memories(回忆)契合这种场景;secrets(秘密),results(结果),habits(习惯)都不是听众和主持人相聚时会分享的核心内容。

5. What does Stephen think of Chongqing people in Paragraph 5?
A. They work really hard.
B. They enjoy a more relaxing life.
C. They are easy to get along with.
D. Coffee is their favorite drink.

A. Lonely. B. Tiring. C. Busy.
