Growing up in the hot Las Vegas desert, all I wanted was to be free. I would daydream about traveling the world, living in a place where it snowed, snowboarding to my heart’s content, and I would picture all of the stories that I would go on to tell. At the age of 19, the day after I graduated high school, I moved to a place where it snowed and became a snowboarder. With this job all I needed was a snowboard and I could go anywhere. For the first time in my life, I felt free, independent and completely in control of my life. That was, until my life took an unexpected turn. I went home from work early one day with what I thought was the flu,and less than 24 hours later I was in the hospital on life support with less than a two percent chance of living. It wasn’t until days later as I lay unconscious that the doctors diagnosed me with blood infection. Over the course of two and a half months I lost a kidney (肾) and both of my legs below the knees. When my parents wheeled me out of the hospital I felt like I had been pieced back together like a doll. I thought the worst was over until weeks later when I saw my new legs for the first time. The legs were blocks of metal with pipes bolted together for the ankles and a yellow rubber foot with a raised rubber line from the toe to the ankle to look like a vein. Tears streaming down my face, I strapped on these artificial legs and stood up. They were so painful that all I could think was, how was I ever going to travel the world in these things? How was I ever going to live the life full of adventure and stories, as I always wanted? And how was I going to snowboard again? I went home, crawled into bed and tried to escape from reality. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Four months later I was back up on a snowboard. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 一、文本分析 1.角色 ________________________________________________________ 2.视角 第________人称 3. The author dreamed of traveling and snowboarding freely --- _________________ --- She suffered a severe blood infection and lost a kidney and lower legs --- _________________ --- She saw her ugly artificial legs and fell into despair --- _________________ 4. What was the author’s lifelong dream? :___________________________________ What did the author do after graduating from high school?: _________________________________ What sudden disaster happened to the author?: ________________________________________________ What terrible loss did the author suffer from the illness?: __________________________________________ How did the author feel when she first saw her artificial legs?: _____________________________________________ What confused and upset the author most?: _________________________________________________ What change will happen to the author later?: ________________________________________________________ What does the story tell us?:________________________________________________ 5. I:free and joyful→___________→painful and desperate→___________→awake and determined→___________(续写) 7. 综合概括(中英各一句) 中文:______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 英文:______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 8. 句式 宾语从句;定语从句;状语从句;非谓语;并列句 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 9. 本文主题 励志成长类:_______________________________________ 二. Paragraph 1: I went home, crawled into bed and tried to escape from reality. 1——How did the author feel in despair? However, the question “how would you want your story to go?” constantly echoed in my mind. I realized I couldn’t let disability ruin my dream. Instead of giving up, I decided to rewrite my life story bravely. I started strict daily rehabilitation training, enduring endless pain patiently. Four months later I was back up on a snowboard. It was extremely tough to keep balance on the snow with my artificial legs. I fell down countless times and got injured repeatedly, but I never gave up. Gradually, I adapted to my new legs and mastered skiing skills again. Flying across the white snow, I felt the long-awaited freedom once more. I finally understood: life is just like a book. No matter how tough the plot is, I am always the author who can decide its ending.
