Say “Please” and “Thank you”
Teach your child that it’s polite to say “please” when asking for something.
You can exemplify this good behaviour by saying “please” when you make a
request to your child. For example, “Please pick up your toys before turning on
the TV.” Likewise, when receiving something—whether it’s a physical thing or an
intangible(无形的)one, like help or praise—your kid should say “thank
you”.Again, exemplifying these good manners will go a long way. When your
child picks up his or her toys or helps with housework, thank him or her for
being a big helper.

Doors are for privacy(隐私), so if a door is closed, your child should
knock before entering. But it’s not appropriate to knock and walk right in! Rather,
the next step is waiting to see if there’s a reply, and then get permission before
entering.
Ask Permission
Teach your child to ask permission when he or she has any doubt about
doing something. You may also have your rules about situations where permission
is required, like answering the door, downloading an app, or buying something.
These manners can save you from many hours of sadness later!

Wait Your Turn
Learning to take turns in conversation, without interruption(打断), can be
difficult for young children. Develop this skill by explaining why taking turns is
important. It allows everyone to be heard equally. Also, kids should understand
that sometimes it’s OK to interrupt adults, like when there’s an emergency
(紧急情况).Otherwise, they should wait for a stop in the conversation before
getting in words.#6.1

4.Why is it difficult for children to wait their turns in conversation?( )
B
A.Because they don’t need time to think about any questions.
B.Because they don’t know whether it is an emergency or not.
C.Because they want others to hear what they are saying equally.
D.Because they’d like to get in words during the conversation.
【解析】推理判断题。根据第五段中的“Also, kids should understand that
sometimes it’s OK to interrupt adults, like when there’s an
emergency.”可知只有在紧急情况下,孩子们才可以打断成年人说话。由此推断
出孩子们可能无法知道他们要说的是否是紧急情况,所以很难让他们在谈话中等
待轮到他们说话。
