1. Mark ______ have hurried. After driving at top speed, he arrived half an hour early. A. needn’t B. wouldn’t C. mustn’t D. couldn’t 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】 考查情态动词。 A。 2. There is a rule in the library that one is required to put the book ______ it is after finishing reading it. A. what B. how C. where D. when 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】考查地点状语从句。 3. I’m finally going back to my motherland; I ______ in the foreign country for four years by next month. A. have been staying B. will have stayed C. have stayed D. will be staying 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】考查时态。 B。 4. I think you’d better avoid talking about politics, religion and other ______ topics with him if you are not close friends. A. sensitive B. skeptical C. aggressive D. attractive 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】考查形容词词义辨析。 故选A项。 5. The fire started on the first floor of the hospital, patients were elderly people. A. many of whose B. whose many C. many whose D. many of whom 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】考查非限制性定语从句。 此处the first floor of the hospital是先行词,在后面的非限制性定语从句中作定语修饰名词patients,所以定语从句由关系代词whose引导,且用many of whose,意为“……中的很多”,符合题意。故选A。 6. Dr. James Naismith is believed ________ the game of basketball, a sport loved by people all around the world. A. to invent B. to have invented C. inventing D. having invented 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】考查不定式的时态。 A. to invent不定式;B. to have invented不定式的完成式;C. inventing现在分词;D. having invented现在分词的完成式。 B。 7. In a time of social reform, people’s state of mind tends to keep with the rapid changes of society. A. terms B. pace C. progress D. touch 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】考查名词词义辨析。 A. terms术语;B. pace速度;C. progress进展;D. touch触摸。 8. The school ________ with reading lessons that taught students to guess the meaning of new words. A. did the trick B. paved the way C. braved the elements D. broke new ground 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】考查习语。 A. did the trick获得成功;B. paved the way铺平道路;C. braved the elements不惧酷境;D. broke new ground开辟新领域、开创新方法。结合“taught students to guess the meaning of new words”可知,应该是学校在阅读课上开创了新方法。故选D项。 9. —May I ask a question after class, Sir? — , but not during my lunch break. A. Fire away B. Anytime C. Certainly D. Go ahead 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】考查情景交际。 A. 根据后文“but not during my lunch break.” C。 10. Pollution has reached _________ high level in some urban areas, which is quite worrying. A. disturbingly B. slightly C. exactly D. flexibly 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】考查副词词义辨析。 故选A项。 11. —We haven’t heard from uncle Wang for such a long time. —What do you suppose ______ to him? A. to happen B. having happened C. happened D. that happened 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】考查谓语动词。 12. Not far from the club there was a garden______owner seated in it playing cards with his children. A. that B. which C. whose D. its 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】考查独立主格结构。 D。 13. Reading materials for children entered schools to help them develop the habit of financial management at a young age. A. having intended B. intending C. intended D. having been intended 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】考查非谓语动词。 C。 14. ________ he lied about his academic background at the interview really surprised us after the truth came out. A. That B. Where C. What D. When 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】考查主语从句。 分析句子结构可知,“______ he lied about his academic background at the interview”为主语从句,从句不缺成分,且引导词没有含义,需用连接词that引导。故选A。 15. —You seem to be fond of classical music. — . As a matter of fact, I like jazz music better. A. I don’t agree. B. No doubt C. Not really D. I couldn’t agree more 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】考查情景交际。 A. I don’t agree. No doubt毫无疑问;C. Not really不是;D. I couldn’t agree more我完全同意。根据后文“As a matter of fact, I like jazz music better.” Lazer loves running, and although he experiences a series of potentially fatal heart problems, he always cherishes a new finish line to inspire his ___16___. The lights were never brighter and the crowds were never bigger for a homegrown sports hero than they were a quarter-century ago for Ray Hall. But his athletic achievements, as impressive as they are, are to my mind not what is most admirable about the man. Known as “Sugar Ray” in his teens, Hall was rated among the country’s top 25 high school basketball players. An inner-city kid from a solid family, Hall took on the challenge of lifting Canisius College — still recovering from its failure — back to respectability, rejecting more favorable offers. His status of a savior (救世主) brought more pressure than any 18-year-old should have to handle. However, I watched him mature into the player who led Canisius back to daylight. After college Hall played professionally in Italy and Greece for over 10 years until a car accident at 32 ended his basketball career. The news that he would never play again shocked Hall but unlike so many others he was ready for life after basketball. When I met Hall — still fit at 46 — for lunch Monday, he wore a cut-sharp gray suit, designer tie and blazing white shirt that screamed Success. “That was always the question — when the cheers end, where do you go? Who do you turn to?” he said. “It starts and ends with that person in the mirror.” Hall got the concept of academics-first from his parents. He graduated from Canisius a semester early. “No matter how good of an athlete you are, you are just one injury away from losing it all,” he said. “But if you take care of things academically, you are prepared until you leave this earth.” For the past 14 years, he has been in a computer sales job at Ingram Micro. He married his college sweetheart. They have three kids and a nice house in the suburbs. He figured out early what others learn too late: Athletics is part of a journey, not the destination. Congratulations, Ray, you made it. In more ways than one. 41. Ray was regarded as a savior because ________. A. he liked to take on challenges B. he helped his team to regain its glory C. he was faithful to his hometown city D. he fought hard against failure at a young age 42. According to the writer, which of the following best describes Ray’s success? A. Unlike other athletes, he was academically superior. B. He defeated his injury and returned to the playground. C. He enjoys a successful job and a happy family. D. He has gained impressive athletic achievements. 43. What’s the right order of the events related to Ray? a. He was rated among the best high school basketball players. b. He was in a car accident. c. He graduated from Canisius College. d. He started his computer sales job. e. He gave up his athletic career. A. a, c, b, e, d B. a, c, e, b, d C. c, a, b, d, e D. c, a, e, b, d 44. We can learn from the passage that ________. A. Ray was from an academic family B. Ray was very mature in his teens C. Ray was once desperate facing the cruel reality D. athletics was not Ray’s final goal in life 45. What was the writer’s intention in writing this passage? A. To describe the difficulties of being a professional athlete. B. To explain the importance of choosing the right college. C. To emphasize the need for a good education. D. To warn against playing professional basketball. B 42. C 43. A 44. D 45. 根据第三段“An inner-city kid from a solid family, Hall took on the challenge of lifting Canisius College — still recovering from its failure — back to respectability, rejecting more favorable offers. His status of a savior (救世主) brought more pressure than any 18-year-old should have to handle. However, I watched him mature into the player who led Canisius back to daylight.(霍尔来自一个稳固的家庭,他接受了挑战,让仍在从失败中恢复的加尼修斯学院恢复体面,拒绝了更多有利的邀请。救世主的身份给他带来的压力比任何一个18岁的人都要大。然而,我看着他逐渐成长为带领卡尼修斯回归光明的球员。)”可知,他帮助自己的球队重新获得了荣誉因此被称为救世主。故B项正确。 【42题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章倒数第二段“For the past 14 years, he has been in a computer sales job at Ingram Micro. He married his college sweetheart. They have three kids and a nice house in the suburbs.(在过去的14年里,他一直在英迈公司从事计算机销售工作。他和大学时代的恋人结婚了。他们在郊区有三个孩子和一栋漂亮的房子。)”可知,Hall有一份成功的工作和一个幸福的家庭。故C项正确。 【43题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段的“Known as “Sugar Ray” in his teens, Hall was rated among the country’s top 25 high school basketball players.(霍尔十几岁时被称为“Sugar Ray”,被评为全国前25名高中篮球运动员之一。)”;“Hall took on the challenge of lifting Canisius College (霍尔接受了提升卡尼修斯学院的挑战)”;第三段的“After college Hall played professionally in Italy and Greece for over 10 years until a car accident at 32 ended his basketball career.(大学毕业后,霍尔在意大利和希腊打了10多年的职业篮球,直到32岁时的一场车祸结束了他的篮球生涯。)”和第四段的“For the past 14 years, he has been in a computer sales job at Ingram Micro. (在过去的14年里,他一直在英迈公司从事计算机销售工作。)”可知,霍尔在高中被评为最优秀的篮球运动员之一,后来毕业于卡尼修斯学院,一场车祸介绍了他的篮球生涯,他放弃了运动事业,开始了从事计算机销售工作。故可知A项顺序正确,故A项正确。 【44题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章倒数第二段的“ He figured out early what others learn too late: Athletics is part of a journey, not the destination.(他很早就明白了别人很晚才明白的道理:运动是人生旅程的一部分,而不是终点。)” 根据文章倒数第三段“Hall got the concept of academics-first from his parents. He graduated from Canisius a semester early. “No matter how good of an athlete you are, you are just one injury away from losing it all,” he said. “But if you take care of things academically, you are prepared until you leave this earth.”(霍尔从父母那里得到了“学术第一”的观念。他提前一个学期从加尼修斯学院毕业。“无论你是多么优秀的运动员,只要受一次伤,你就会失去一切,”他说。“但如果你把学业上的事情做好了,你就会做好准备,直到你离开这个世界。”)可知,作者写这篇文章是想要通过霍尔的故事,强调良好的教育的重要性。故C项正确。 C Tiny microbes(微生物)are at the heart of a new agricultural technique to manage harmful greenhouse gas. Scientists have discovered how microbes can be used to turn carbon dioxide into soil-enriching limestone(石灰石),with the help of a type of tree that grows in tropical areas, such as West Africa. Researchers have found that when the Iroko tree is grown in dry, acidic soil and treated with a combination of natural fungi(霉菌)and other bacteria, not only does the tree grow well, it also produces the mineral limestone in the soil around its root. The Iroko tree makes a mineral by combining Ca from the earth with CO2 from the atmosphere. The bacteria then create the conditions under which this mineral turns into limestone. The discovery offers a new way to lock carbon into the soil, keeping it out of the atmosphere. In addition to storing carbon in the trees, leaves and in the form of limestone, the mineral in the soil makes it more suitable for agriculture. The discovery could lead to reforestation(重新造林)projects in tropical countries, and help reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere in the developing world. It has already been used in West Africa and is being tested in Bolivia, Haiti and India. The findings were made in a three-year project involving researchers from the Universities of Edinburgh, Granada, Lausanne and Delft University of Technology. The project examined several microbiological methods of locking CO2 as limestone, and the Iroko-bacteria way showed best results. Work was funded by the European Commission under the Future&Emerging Technologies (FET) scheme. Dr Bryne Ngwenya of the University of Edinburgh's School of GeoSciences, who led the research, said: "By taking advantage of this natural limestone-producing process, we have a low-tech, safe, readily employed and easily operating way to lock carbon out of the atmosphere, while improving farming conditions in tropical countries?5 46. C 47. B 48. A 49. D 50. C 【解析】 【分析】本文是一篇说明文,介绍了一种处理温室气体的新方法。 【46题详解】 主旨大意题。根据文章首句“Tiny microbes(微生物)are at the heart of a new agricultural technique to manage harmful greenhouse gas.”及结合全文。可知本文主要介绍了一种处理温室气体的新方法。故选C项。 【47题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“Researchers have found that when the Iroko tree is grown in dry, acidic soil and treated with a combination of natural fungi(霉菌)and other bacteria, not only does the tree grow well, it also produces the mineral limestone in the soil around its root.” 研究人员发现,当伊罗科树生长在干燥、酸性的土壤中,并与天然真菌(霉菌)和其他细菌结合,不仅使树生长良好,还会在其根部周围的土壤中产生矿物石灰岩。可知在特殊的土壤中,微小的微生物与伊罗科树相处得很好。故选B项。 【48题详解】 词义猜测题。根据第三段“In addition to storing carbon in the trees, leaves and in the form of limestone, the mineral in the soil makes it more suitable for agriculture.” 除了在树木、树叶和石灰石中储存碳,土壤中的矿物质使土壤更适合农业种植,可以推测此处指的便是土壤条件。故选A项。 【49题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Dr Bryne Ngwenya of the University of Edinburgh's School of GeoSciences, who led the research, said: "By taking advantage of this natural limestone-producing process, we have a low-tech, safe, readily employed and easily operating way to lock carbon out of the atmosphere, while improving farming conditions in tropical countries?”及结合全文主要讲述利用树木和微生物的方法来解决问题。可推断出研究人员倾向于用自然来解决他们的问题。故选D项。 【50题详解】 细节理解题。第三段“the mineral in the soil makes it more suitable for agriculture.” D Enough “meaningless drivel”. That’s the message from a group of members of the UK government who have been examining how social media firms like LinkedIn gather and use social media data. The House of Commons Science and Technology Committee’s report, released last week, has blamed firms for making people sign up to long incomprehensible legal contracts and calls for an international standard or kitemark (认证标记) to identify sites that have clear terms and conditions. “The term and conditions statement that we all carelessly agree to is meaningless drivel to anyone,” says Andrew Miller, the chair of the committee. Instead, he says, firms should provide a plain-English version of their terms. The simplified version would be checked by a third party and awarded a kitemark if it is an accurate reflection of the original. It is not yet clear who would administer the scheme, but the UK government is looking at introducing it on a voluntary basis. “We need to think through how we make that work in practice,” says Miller. Would we pay any more attention to a kitemark? “I think if you went and did the survey, people would like to think they would,” says Nigel Shadbolt at the University of Southampton, UK, who studies open data. “We do know people worry a lot about the inappropriate use of their information.” But what would happen in practice is another matter, he says. Other organisations such as banks ask customers to sign long contracts they may not read or understand, but Miller believes social media requires special attention because it is so new. “We still don’t know how significant the long-term impact is going to be of unwise things that kids put on social media that come back and bite them in 20 years’ time,” he says. Shadbolt, who gave evidence to the committee, says the problem is that we don’t know how companies will use our data because their business models and uses of data are still evolving. Large collections of personal information have become valuable only recently, he says. The shock and anger when a social media firm does something with data that people don’t expect, even if users have apparently permission, show that the current situation isn’t working. If properly administered, a kitemark on terms and conditions could help people know what exactly they are signing up to, although they would still have to actually read them. 51. What does the phrase “meaningless drivel” in paragraphs 1 and 3 refer to? A. Legal contracts that social media firms make people sign up to. B. Warnings from the UK government against unsafe websites. C. Guidelines on how to use social media websites properly. D. Insignificant data collected by social media firms. 52. It can be inferred from the passage that Nigel Shadbolt doubts whether _______. A. social media firms would conduct a survey on the kitemark scheme B. people would pay as much attention to a kitemark as they think C. a kitemark scheme would be workable on a nationwide scale D. the kitemark would help companies develop their business models 53. Andrew Miller thinks social media needs more attention than banks mainly because _______. A. their users consist largely of kids under 20 years old B. the language in their contracts is usually harder to understand C. the information they collected could become more valuable in future D. it remains unknown how users’ data will be taken advantage of 54. The writer advises users of social media to _______. A. think carefully before posting anything onto such websites B. read the terms and conditions even if there is a kitemark C. take no further action if they can find a kitemark D. avoid providing too much personal information 55. Which of the following is the best title of the passage? A. Say no to social media? B. New security rules in operation? C. Accept without reading? D. Administration matters! 【答案】51. A 52. B 53. D 54. B 55. C 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。当我们在社交媒体上注册登记的时候,总会签署一些无意义的法律合同,文章就此现象展开了讨论,并列举了多人的不同观点。 【51题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第二段“The House of Commons Science and Technology Committee’s report, released last week, has blamed firms for making people sign up to long incomprehensible legal contracts and calls for an international standard or kitemark (认证标记) to identify sites that have clear terms and conditions. (英国下议院科学技术委员会上周发布的报告指责公司让人们签署长期难以理解的法律合同,并呼吁使用国际标准或认证标记来识别那些有明确条款和条件的网站)”可知,很多社交媒体公司和用户签订了难以理解的法律合同,而这些合同是没有意义的废话,所以通过上下文的语境可以判断出第1和第3段中的meaningless drivel指的是“社交媒体公司让人们签署的法律合同”。故选A项。 【52题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段“Would we pay any more attention to a kitemark? “I think if you went and did the survey, people would like to think they would,” says Nigel Shadbolt at the University of Southampton, UK, who studies open data. “We do know people worry a lot about the inappropriate use of their information.” But what would happen in practice is another matter, he says. 根据第六段“Other organisations such as banks ask customers to sign long contracts they may not read or understand, but Miller believes social media requires special attention because it is so new. “We still don’t know how significant the long-term impact is going to be of unwise things that kids put on social media that come back and bite them in 20 years’ time,” he says. 根据最后一段中“If properly administered, a kitemark on terms and conditions could help people know what exactly they are signing up to, although they would still have to actually read them. 所以C项“Accept without reading? (未阅读就接受?)”为文章最佳标题。故选C项。 第II卷 (满分35分) 第一节:阅读表达(共5个小题,每小题2分,满分10分) 阅读短文,并按照题目要求用英语回答问题。 Leadership is the most significant word in today’s competitive business environment because it directs the manager of a business to focus inward on their personal abilities and style. Experts on leadership will quickly point out that “how things get done” influences the success of the outcomes and indicates a right way and a wrong way to do things. When a noted leader on the art of management, Peter Drucker, coined the phrase “Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things,” he was seeking to clarify the distinctions he associates with the terms. When Stephen Covey, founder and director of the Leadership Institute, explored leadership styles in the past decade, he focused on the habits of a great number of highly effective individuals. His Seven Habits of Highly Effective People became a popular bestseller very quickly. His ideas forced a reexamination of the early leadership example, which centered on the feature that was found in the character ethic and the personality ethic. The former ethic suggested success was founded on modesty, loyalty, courage, patience, and so on. The personality ethic suggested it was one’s attitude, not behavior, that inspired success, and this ethic was founded on a belief of positive mental attitude. In contrast to each of these ideas, Covey advocates that leaders need to understand universal principles of effectiveness, and he highlights how vital it is for leaders to first personally manage themselves if they are to enjoy any hope of outstanding success in their work environments. To achieve a desired vision for your business, it is essential that you have a personal vision of where you are headed and what you value. Business leadership means that managers need to “put first things first,” which implies that before leading others, you need to be clear on your own values, abilities, and strengths and be seen as trustworthy. 56. What can we infer about Peter Drucker’s attitude towards leadership? (no more than 14 words) ________________________________________________________________ 57. What do we learn about the early leadership examples from Paragraph 2? (no more than 16 words) ________________________________________________________________ 58. Nowadays, as Senior Three students, we have to face many examinations. Many of us feel quite anxious before various examinations, not sleeping well in the night or feeling frightened and blank in the mind just before the examinations, which has a negative impact on our health as well as our performance during the examinations. How to cope with the anxiety before an examination may vary from person to person. Generally, doing some light exercise is a good way to relieve our anxiety, which can help us to relax both physically and mentally. In addition, chatting with our good friends also works out well because a casual talk will help us move away from the examination for a moment. All in all, don’t let anxiety stand in your way. Take it easy and everything will be OK. 【解析】 【导语】本篇书面表达要求考生写一份发言稿,说明考前焦虑的坏处以及解决问题的方法。 【详解】1.词汇积累 影响:impact→influence 总之:all in all→in short 缓解:relieve→ease 方式:way→approach 2.句式拓展 简单句变复合句 原句:How to cope with the anxiety before an examination may vary from person to person. 拓展句:The ways in which people cope with exam anxiety may differ from individual to individual. 【点睛】【高分句型1】Generally, doing some light exercise is a good way to relieve our anxiety, which can help us to relax both physically and mentally.(运用了which引导非限制性定语从句) 【高分句型2】In addition, chatting with our good friends also works out well because a casual talk will help us move away from the examination for a moment.(运用了because引导原因状语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高三英语 (共分II卷,满分130分,考试时间100分钟) 第I卷 (满分95分) 第一部分:英语知识运用(满分45分) 第一节:单项填空(共15个小题,每小题1分,满分15分) 从A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 1. 第II卷 (满分35分) 第一节:阅读表达(共5个小题,每小题2分,满分10分) 阅读短文,并按照题目要求用英语回答问题。 Leadership is the most significant word in today’s competitive business environment because it directs the manager of a business to focus inward on their personal abilities and style. 56.
