On March 24, 2026, Zhang Xuefeng, a well-known online educator and college admission consultant (录取顾问), passed away at 41 due to sudden cardiac death (心源性猝死). His death shocked millions of students and parents across China.
Zhang was born in 1985. He became famous for his straightforward (坦率的) and practical advice on college majors and career planning. Unlike many educators, he focused on helping ordinary families and students from rural areas. He often said, “Every extra word I say saves a child from taking a detour.” He worked extremely hard, often staying up late to make videos and answer questions online.
His core message was simple but powerful: believe in yourself, embrace (拥抱) change, dig deep into one field, and keep learning. He encouraged students not to be limited by their background or grades. “Even if you start low, you can still walk your own path with confidence,” he once said.
Millions of people were inspired by his stories. He was not just a tutor but also a role model of hard work. Although he is gone, his spirit and advice will continue to guide many young people in the future.

【4题详解】
根据第二段可知,张雪峰因“straightforward and practical advice on college majors and career planning”而成名,对应选项B“gave practical advice on college majors”。
【5题详解】
第二段中“taking a detour”出现在句子“Every extra word I say saves a child from taking a detour”,结合上下文,他的建议是为了避免学生走弯路、犯不必要的错误,因此选项C“Making unnecessary mistakes”最符合。
【6题详解】
从第四段“Millions of people were inspired by his stories”及最后一段“his spirit and advice will continue to guide many young people”可推断,他的工作对许多人产生了重大影响,对应选项C。

William used to be a kid who never dared to express his true thoughts. He always agreed with everything his friends said.
One day, he and his friends were discussing whether middle school students should bring their phones to school. His friends all thought they should, but William didn’t agree. However, because he didn’t have the courage to speak out his mind, he chose to agree with them. But he knew that always going against his own will to agree with others made him feel very uncomfortable. So he told his mom about this.
“I just can’t tell people what I really think or want. It’s too difficult for me,” said William.
“You can’t or you don’t want to?” Mom asked patiently.
“I guess I don’t want to. I’m afraid to be different,” answered William.
His mom smiled and handed him a famous book, The Analects of Confucius (《论语》).
William knew the book but he didn’t know what his mom meant. However, he started reading the book every night before bed. One day, he read the phrase, “Gentlemen have peace but disagree; flunkies (小人) agree but have no peace.” He didn’t understand it, so he asked his mom.
“It means gentlemen achieve harmony (和谐), but they don’t just blindly agree with others. They have their own ideas, and they can tell the truth bravely. Flunkies agree easily, but they don’t achieve true harmony in their hearts,” his mom explained.
Suddenly, William was inspired and realized that having different ideas was not a bad thing at all. He was very thankful for the book. He decided to be brave enough to express his own thoughts. He did as he said. From then on, he was no longer afraid to speak out his mind. To his surprise, he found that the friendship had become even stronger!
8. What did William use to be like?
A. He always expressed his true thoughts bravely.
B. He was afraid to express his own ideas and always agreed with others.
C. He often argued with his friends about different ideas.
9. Why did William feel uncomfortable?
A. Because his friends didn’t listen to him.
B. Because he had a fight with his friends.
C. Because he always went against his own will to agree with others.
10. What is the meaning of the underlined sentence in the text?
A. 君子周而不比,小人比而不周。
B. 君子和而不同,小人同而不和。
C. 君子喻于义,小人喻于利。
11. What can we learn from the story?
A. Silence is golden.
B. Having different ideas is bad for friendship.
C. Expressing true thoughts is necessary.
【答案】8. B 9. C 10. B 11. C
第一段提到“William used to be a kid who never dared to express his true thoughts. He always agreed with everything his friends said.”,说明他过去害怕表达自己的想法,总是同意别人。
【9题详解】
第一段指出“he knew that always going against his own will to agree with others made him feel very uncomfortable.”,说明他感到不舒服是因为总是违背自己的意愿去同意别人。
【10题详解】
文中划线句子为“Gentlemen have peace but disagree; flunkies agree but have no peace.”,结合第三段母亲的解释,这与“君子和而不同,小人同而不和”意思一致。
【11题详解】

A Special Birthday Gift
Last month was my grandmother’s 70th birthday. Our family wanted to give her a special gift, but we didn’t know what to buy. She already had everything she needed.
One day, my younger sister had an idea. “Why don’t we make a photo album (册子) for Grandma?” she suggested. “We can collect photos from different periods of her life.”
We all loved the idea. We spent two weeks collecting old photos from family members. Some photos were from Grandma’s childhood, some were from her wedding, and others were from family gatherings over the years.
We carefully arranged the photos in an album and wrote short messages under each one. On Grandma’s birthday, we gave her the album. When she saw it, her eyes filled with tears.
It was the most meaningful gift she had ever received. She said the album brought back many beautiful memories. She spent the whole evening looking through it and telling us stories about each photo.
I realized that the best gifts don’t have to be expensive. Sometimes, love and time are the most precious (珍贵的) things we can give.
