文章中Potato部分“One day, when she’s out of the hole, her face is a little bit dirty.”
划线句“Sometimes Zucchini becomes yellow and wants to look like a banana!”出自Zucchini部分,前文“She also likes to dress herself as some fruit or vegetables.”
文章开头提到“Let’s have a look at what doctors suggest and tell your parents to cook them for dinner.”,说明这是在对孩子们说话,让他们转告父母。

D
Can you tell the meaning of “zero”? Can you do addition and subtraction (加减法)? Most people can. But do you know bees can do these things too? A study shows that bees have even greater maths abilities. After some training, they can know the difference between even numbers (ending in 0,2,4,6 and 8) and odd numbers (ending in 1,3,5,7 and 9).
Some Australian scientists put up different cards with an odd or even number of triangles (三角形).They used the numbers 1 to 10. Then they trained the first group of bees to choose odd numbers and the second group to choose even numbers. If a bee flew to the right card, it would get sugar water. If it chose the wrong card, it got bitter (苦的) water.
In a short time, all the bees knew what odd numbers or even numbers were. They could fly to the right numbers 80% of the time. After that, the scientists added new cards with the numbers 11 and 12. The bees never saw the numbers in their training before, but they could choose rightly 70% of the time. Surprisingly, the bees even learnt odd numbers more quickly than people.
How did the bees learn the numbers so fast? Scientists didn't have a clear idea. But they believe if they find the answer, it will help them build better and faster computers. After all, a bee's brain is about 86,000 times smaller than ours!
32. How does the writer start the passage?
A. By listing facts. B. By giving examples. C. By asking questions.
33. Which of the following cards should the second group of bees fly to?
① ② ③ ④
A. ①④ B. ②③ C. ③④
34. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. Our brains are 8,600 times bigger than bees'.
B. Bees like bitter water rather than sugar water.
C. After training, bees can know the difference between even numbers and odd numbers.
35. What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A. Bees have a great ability to learn numbers.
B. Bees like odd numbers more than even numbers.
C. Scientists know how bees learn numbers.
C 33. B 34. C 35. A
Can you tell the meaning of “zero”? Can you do addition and subtraction?
根据“the second group to choose even numbers”可知,第二组蜜蜂被训练选择偶数。
根据“After some training, they can know the difference between even numbers (ending in 0,2,4,6 and 8) and odd numbers (ending in 1,3,5,7 and 9).”
根据最后一段中的“Scientists didn't have a clear idea. But they believe if they find the answer, it will help them build better and faster computers”,结合前文蜜蜂快速区分奇偶的实验结果。 选项B:文中仅提到“the bees even learnt odd numbers more quickly than people”,并未说明蜜蜂更喜欢奇数,错误。选项C:文中明确提到科学家“didn't have a clear idea”,错误。故选A。
There are more than 400,000 kinds of plants on Earth. Some plants are as big as tall buildings. ____36____ Plants are an important part of nature because they can give out oxygen (氧气). All animals need it for breathing.
What is a plant? Most people can find the differences between an animal and a plant. ____37____ What makes a plant? Like animals, plants are living things with lots of cells (细胞). Unlike animals, plants make their own food with water, CO₂ and sunlight. ____38____ and most plants reproduce by growing flowers and making seeds.
____39____ For most animals, genes (基因) control their growth. That means when they are small, it’s easy to know what they will look like after they grow up. Plants are different. Genes control their growth too, ____40____ For example, a tree can be big and round if it grows up in an open space, but taller and thinner if it grows with many other trees around it. Plants can’t move from one place to another, so it is important for them to fit in (适应) the place they live.
A. but their final shapes may be different because of the place they live.
B. Others are as small as rice.
C. What can plants provide for us?
D. Most plants have roots, stems (茎), and leaves,
E. How does a plant grow?
F. That is because animals can move around, but plants can’t.
B 37. F 38. D 39. E 40. A
前一句说到有些植物像高楼一样大,B项“Others are as small as rice.”,用Some…Others…
前一句说明人们能区分动植物,F项“That is because animals can move around, but plants can’t.”
前半句说明植物也受基因控制,A项“but their final shapes may be different because of the place they live.”,用but表转折,强调虽然基因控制,但最终外形受生长环境影响而不同,和后面举例“树在空地和在树林里长得不一样”完全对应。

根据前文Tony说“I plan to drive it”、Toby说“ I want to ride in it”,两人对同一个玩具车有不同的玩法,语境存在差异。
前半句“She told them to take turns to play with it”与后半句“they didn't want to share it”存在转折关系。应选but。
固定搭配be tired of doing sth. 应选of。 in“在……里”、on“在……
后文提到“make sure it doesn’t make a mess in the room”,这是饲养宠物猫的日常职责。
后文提到“there were books all over the room”,可知书架位于他们的房间内。
前文提到“the cat got into the bookshelf… there were books all over the room”,此时房间是混乱的,Tony喊出的内容应与“保持房间整洁”相关。
后文提到“said happily, ‘Just think, Toby.

We often forget that people in other countries eat different things from us.
In some countries, for example, rice is their main food. In others, such as Britain and America, bread made from wheat is the most important food.
Most countries have their own dishes. In China, such dishes as sweet and sour pork (糖醋排骨) and fried rice (炒饭) are very common. In Thailand and India, people eat many different curries (咖喱). They like their food hot and spicy (辛辣). In England, a favorite dish is roast (烤) beef. The Italians eat pasta, which is a kind of noodle made from wheat. French food is very famous everywhere. It is often very rich.
In recent years fast food—sometimes called “junk food”—has become very popular all over the world. It was invented (发明) in the USA, and the first fast food was the hamburger. There are restaurants and takeout places selling hamburgers in most cities of the world.
The most international food, however, is Chinese food. There isn’t a city anywhere that does not have one Chinese restaurant. This is because there are so many different dishes from so many different parts of China that there is something for everyone, whatever their favorite kind of food is.

One of her biggest works is the Haiyan Hall from the Yuanmingyuan Park. The hall was destroyed (毁坏) a long time ago, so Fan only had a picture from the museum. She used the picture to find more information, like the size of the hall and the statues (雕像) around it.
How did Fan make the chocolate statues? First, she shaped very small statues using a special clay. Then she covered the clay statues with silica gel (硅胶).

A. Our brains are 8,600 times bigger than bees'.
B. Bees like bitter water rather than sugar water.
C. After training, bees can know the difference between even numbers and odd numbers.
