The circle map is a tool that is used to describe something or express understanding of a topic. It’s a great tool for both personal and group brainstorming activities. People can write down a topic in the central circle. Around the topic are facts or ideas. Inside the square are ways to collect more information.
The flow map represents the flow of something. It can be used to organize information in a proper order, list steps of an event and find patterns (模式). The flow map includes a series of boxes which are connected by arrows (箭头). Pictures can also be used instead of boxes to show the order.

One dollar and eighty-seven cents. Three times Della counted it. That was all. And the next day would be Christmas.
Della stood by the window and looked out at a cat in the yard. She had only $1.87 to buy Jim a present. She had been saving money in every way she could for months, but she had only $1.87. Expenses were always greater than she had expected. There were two possessions that Della and her husband were proud of. One was Jim’s gold watch that had been his father’s and his grandfather’s. The other was Della’s long beautiful hair.
Suddenly, Della turned around and walked up to a pier (窗间墙) glass. Della pulled down her hair and let it fall to its full length. Then she walked out of the door and down the stairs to the street. Della stopped in front of a sign, which read, “Mne. Sofronie. Hair Goods of All Kinds.” She took a deep breath and went in. For twenty dollars, she sold her beautiful hair. She spent two hours searching the stores for Jim’s present. She found it at last. It was a nice watch chain, which cost her twenty-one dollars. After buying it, Della returned home.
At seven o’clock, Jim came back home. His eyes were fixed upon Della, and there was an expression in them that she could not read.
Della stood up and went near him. “Darling,” she said, “I had my hair cut off and sold it because I wanted to get you a Christmas present. You don’t know what a beautiful, nice gift I’ve got for you.”
“You’ve cut off your hair?” Jim said, as if he had not accepted the fact yet.
“I’ve cut it off and sold it,” Della said.
Jim seemed to wake suddenly. He took a package out of his coat pocket and put it on the table. Della opened it. There lay the set of combs (梳子) that she had always wanted. She knew they were expensive. She had never dreamed of owning them one day. And now, they were hers, but her beautiful hair was gone.
She looked up with a smile and said, “My hair grows very fast, Jim!” And then Della held the watch chain out to Jim. “Isn’t it beautiful? I hunted all over town to find it. Give me your watch. I want to see how it looks on your watch,” she said.
Instead of obeying, Jim sat down on the sofa and smiled. “Della,” he said, “let’s put our Christmas gifts away and keep them for a while. They are too nice to use just at present. I sold the watch to get the money to buy your combs.”

Have you ever paid for educational podcasts (播客) or live videos? Ask some people and most of them will say yes. “Pay-for-knowledge” has been more and more fashionable these years. The contents of these “pay-for-knowledge” products are from language learning to gardening or baby-caring. Almost everything you need can be found online at this moment. “Pay-for-knowledge” is on the rise (兴起).
Why is “pay-for-knowledge” industry developing so rapidly? First, its development is based on the Internet. With a fast network and a smartphone, anyone who has passed the identity (身份) check can be an online teacher, and anyone with an online account can buy “pay-for-knowledge” products. Second, people are afraid to miss any information. On one hand, people hope for more useful information. On the other hand, such information is usually at the hands of experts who serve famous companies and universities. Moreover, the need to learn new skills in today’s job market also pushes people to learn on such educational podcasts.
The industry of “pay-for-knowledge” has proved to be lucrative. It promises possibilities of turning information into money. It is good for the development of our country and it can help sellers make lots of money. Besides, buyers can enjoy self-growth from it. What’s more, this is a reflection (反映) of respect for knowledge and talents.
However, the rapid rise of “pay-for-knowledge” has a few problems. For one thing, the market is full of eye-catching words such as “How to be an Industry’s Expert in 5 Hours” and “15 Classes to Be a Master of Appreciating (欣赏) Classical Music”, which sound like if you pay for it, you are sure to succeed. For another, a large number of customers buy them just for showing off. In fact, those who have really had self-growth after buying online courses may be the kind of people who need them least. In other words, with or without these courses, they can make it anyway, because they are those who have the ability to learn by themselves.
In general, the best is the one that suits you most. “Pay-for-knowledge” may be used as a good start for self-growth. Be careful! Otherwise, your dream of success may not come true.
19. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. “Pay-for-knowledge” products can help all the people succeed.
B. “Pay-for-knowledge” products can offer people different kinds of courses.
C. People who can teach themselves need “pay-for-knowledge” products most.
D. People must learn from experts who serve famous companies and universities.
20. Which is NOT the reason for “pay-for-knowledge” industry developing so rapidly?
A. The fast network and smartphone make it possible for people to get.
B. People are afraid to miss any useful information.
C. People need to learn new skills in today’s job market.
D. People have to pay for educational podcasts or live videos.
21. The underlined phrase “be lucrative” in Paragraph 3 means “________”.
A. produce lots of money B. get much information
C. win great respect D. enjoy self-growth
22. The main purpose of this passage is to ________.
A. recommend the “pay-for-knowledge” products to people
B. advise everyone to learn knowledge by themselves online

七、阅读表达(共3小题;67题2分,68题2分,69题3分,满分7分)
What do you think of the saying “Traveling ten thousand miles is better than reading ten thousand books”?
Yes, this is the meaning of travelling. What has been learned from books is not enough after all. “Listening and reading” parts in the textbooks are not as good as “seeing and enjoying” for oneself in real life. So going to the places in the textbooks” has something to do with “travelling while reading”. It works well in students’ learning journeys. It can not only make students more interested in learning, but also bring them a more lively and fresher experience.
Many people who love travelling will find that, in fact, what they see in their eyes is quite different from it in the pictures. When they are at the places, the surprise they get and the practical (实际的) beauty can never be photographed by cameras. When they get there, they can feel the beautiful scenery that cannot be described in textbooks. And the real experience helps people in many ways. For example, students see, touch and feel the real world and get experience. This is very helpful to improve their writing abilities. No wonder some parents said, “Now when my children get home to write compositions, they can write as much as possible.”
There is a more important sense in this kind of travelling: to raise children’s love of our homes and country. There is no certain answer to the question of what kind of person a kid should become, but “having patriotism (爱国)” should be included in the answer.
52. What kind of travel can bring students more interest in learning and a livelier experience?
____________________________________________________
53. In what ways does the writer think the real travelling experience can help children?
____________________________________________________
54. Which place from your textbooks would you like to see with your own eyes? Why?

When it comes to teaching and learning, pictures play an important role in making things simple. Thinking maps have been proved to be a useful tool for students and teachers at all grades.
Thinking maps make meaningful learning possible as they help organize ideas and information in a way that is easy to understand. They can be very useful during creative thinking exercises. Here are four types of thinking maps and ways to use them.
The bubble map is used to describe a subject using adjectives. Bubble maps can be very useful when analyzing (分析) a character from a novel or story, introducing new lessons to the class, etc.

(From: The Gift of the Magi)

18. Which of the following is true according to the story?

In other words, with or without these courses, they can make it anyway, because they are those who have the ability to learn by themselves.
In general, the best is the one that suits you most. “Pay-for-knowledge” may be used as a good start for self-growth. Be careful! Otherwise, your dream of success may not come true.

【答案】
例文
Dear Tom,
I’m so excited to hear that you’re planning a trip to Suzhou!
Great changes have taken place in Suzhou. More high-speed trains now connect it with other cities, making travel much easier. Besides, many new parks and museums have been built. The old town remains its traditional beauty, but the new areas have become modern and lively. I suggest you take a real visit. Although online travel is convenient and cheap, it cannot replace walking through gardens, tasting local food, and hearing the soft Wu dialect in person. A real trip will give you an unforgettable memory.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Best wishes,
Li Hua
