At Yuxi No.1 High School, students started a “plastic-free Tuesday” activity. They bring their own cloth bags to school and refuse to use plastic bags. “I used to buy water in plastic bottles every day. Now I bring my own steel bottle. It's a small change, but it helps,” said Zhang Han, a student.
In Dali, a middle school organized a trip to Erhai Lake. Students picked up rubbish along the lakeside. They also put up signs to tell visitors not to litter. “Erhai is our mother lake. It's everyone's duty to keep it clean,” said their teacher, Mr. Yang.

For 70-year-old Yang Shouzhen, a farmer from Lijiang, Yunnan, her life changed completely when she learned a new skill: livestreaming (直播带货). With the help of her grandson, she now sells local walnuts (核桃) and honey to customers all over China.
At first, Yang was shy. “I'm just an old farmer. Who would want to watch me talk to a phone?” she said. However, her grandson, Xiao Li, encouraged her. He told her that people love to see where their food comes from. So, Yang started broadcasting from her orchard (果园). She showed how walnuts are picked and cracked. Her honest and down-to-earth style quickly won the hearts of many viewers.
“The first time someone ordered my walnuts through the live stream, I couldn't believe it,” Yang recalls. “It felt like magic.”
Her livestreaming business is not just about selling. She also shares her wisdom about farming. “Hard work is the most important thing. A tree won't grow well if you don't take care of it,” she often tells her audience.
Yang’s success story is an example of how technology can bring new chances to rural (乡村的) areas. Her products are now sold nationwide, and she has helped her neighbors sell their products, too. “The internet is not just for the young,” Yang says with a smile. “As long as you are willing to learn, age is never a problem.”

Imagine wearing a pair of glasses that can translate the language you see into your mother tongue in real-time. This is not a scene from a sci-fi movie, but a reality created by Chinese company, Rainbow Glass.
The new AR (增强现实) glasses, released in early 2026, have shocked the world. They look like a regular pair of glasses but are very powerful. Inside them is a tiny computer that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI). When you look at a sign, a menu, or a book in a foreign language, the AI quickly scans the text. Within a second, the translated text appears on the lenses (镜片) right in front of your eyes.
The development of this technology faced many hurdles. First, the computer had to be small enough to fit into the frame (镜框) of a pair of glasses. Second, the battery had to last a long time. Third, the translation had to be fast and accurate without an internet connection. After five years of hard work, scientists at Rainbow Glass successfully solved all these problems.
The glasses are a huge help for travelers. “I used to rely on translation apps on my phone, which was slow and inconvenient,” said a traveler from Shanghai. “Now, with these glasses, I can read Japanese menus easily and understand street signs in France instantly. It’s like having a personal translator with me at all times.”
The company plans to add more features in the future, such as voice translation and recognition of more languages. This invention shows how AI is not just a tool for computers, but a bridge connecting people and cultures.
36. What is the main function of the new AR glasses?
A. To make phone calls. B. To take high-quality photos.
C. To translate languages in real-time. D. To play 3D movies.
37. What does the underlined word “hurdles” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. Rules. B. Problems. C. Secrets. D. Products.
38. According to the text, what is an advantage of the new glasses over a phone app?
A. They are cheaper. B. They are more fashionable.
C. They work faster and easier. D. They can translate more languages.
39. How does the writer support the main idea of paragraph 4?
A. By giving an example. B. By listing numbers.
C. By making a comparison. D. By showing a picture.
40. What is the writer's attitude towards this new invention?
A. Negative. B. Unclear. C. Worried. D. Positive.

第三节 书面表达 (范文)
A Person I Want to Thank
The person I want to thank most is my English teacher, Ms. Li. She has made a great difference in my life.
I used to be very shy and never raised my hand in class. Ms. Li noticed that. After class, she often encouraged me to speak, and she always listened with patience. One day, she asked me to lead the morning reading. I was nervous, but she gave me a warm smile. That smile gave me confidence. Now, I am not afraid to speak in public anymore.
Thanks to Ms. Li, I have overcome my shyness and fallen in love with English. Her kindness and encouragement will stay with me forever. I will always be grateful to her.
