As a city of immigrants (移民), it has flavours from every corner of China, like Cantonese dim sum and Chaoshan noodles. There are nice big restaurants and small local shops. Every bite tastes good! Did you let your friends down? Sometimes, we think about these things too much. It makes us feel worried and tired. Cooking can be a great help. It makes people feel in control and happy again. Julie Ohana, a social worker, mixed her love for cooking with talk therapy (疗法). She believes that the kitchen can start a change in people’s lives. “The kitchen provides a chance for people to recognize opportunities (识别机会) for change,” said Ohana. Talk therapy is like talking to a special friend. This friend is good at listening. You can share your feelings, thoughts and problems with this friend. Then, he or she can give you advice to help you feel happier and more confident. It is a safe and helpful way to work through things that are troubling you. Ohana found that doing sessions (治疗) in the kitchen can make things move faster. “Cooking offers immediate satisfaction as you work your way through a recipe (食谱),” Ohana added. She uses cooking to help people build their confidence and relax. She starts by learning about what food people like to eat, their cooking skills and allergies (过敏). Then, they prepare dishes together. Ohana thinks it’s important that when someone is cooking, they pay close attention to the process. Like art or music therapy, cooking is about the process, not just the result. She thinks that making meals, while being completely focused, is a very special and important experience. 33. What can cooking be helpful for? A. Study. B. Sleep. C. Health. D. Courage. 34. How did Ohana use the kitchen to help people? A. By connecting cooking with talk therapy. B. B. What talk therapy is. C. How friends can help us. D. Why problems trouble people. 36. What can we learn from the last paragraph? A. Cooks pay close attention to the result. B. Cooking is about more than the result. C. Music therapy helps people be experienced. D. The importance of art therapy lies in the result. 37. What’s the best title for the passage? A. Feeling focused B. Feeling in control C. Raising spirits by talking D. Cooking up good feelings C In China, about 40,000 children are in hospital every year because of heart failure. Among them, about 7%-10% are in such a serious condition that they need a heart transplant (移植) in time. However, in reality, fewer than 100 across the country can receive the operation each year because there are not enough donor (供体) hearts. This remains a big problem in heart failure treatment. Junjun, a 7-year-old boy from Shandong province, is one of them. In March, he was taken to a hospital in Wuhan for treatment. Soon after he arrived, he began to show difficulty breathing and had the risk of losing his life. The only way to save him was to receive a heart transplant. But there wasn’t a suitable heart at that time. Thanks to science and technology, he had an operation, which made him the world’s youngest patient to receive the world’s smallest and lightest artificial heart. The operation lasted about five hours and Junjun could breathe by himself on the second day. This operation has given him more time to wait for a heart transplant. Actually, artificial hearts have been used to save adults’ lives for a long time. But the new device in Junjun’s body is different. The 45 g device, as small as a plastic water bottle cap, is smaller and lighter, which makes it more suitable for a child’s body. That’s the reason why it can function better. The development of the device is from a research program started by the hospital in Wuhan and a medical company in Shenzhen. A researcher from the program said, “The device is still not perfect. More research should be carried out to improve it for the children.” 38. What is the big problem in paragraph 1? A. Not enough hospitals. B. Too few donor hearts. C. Unsuccessful operations. D. Serious heart failure cases. 39. What can we learn about the operation from paragraph 2? A. It gave Junjun a donor heart. B. It helped Junjun become healthy. C. It enabled Junjun to live for 5 more hours. D. It allowed Junjun to wait for a donor heart. 40. What does the underlined word “function” mean in paragraph 3? A. Breathe. B. Count. C. Work. D. Shake. 41. What might the researchers do in the future according to paragraph 4? A. Make the device better. B. Design a new device for adults. C. Find more donor hearts. D. Solve problems for the hospital. 42. Which of the following is the best title for the passage? A. The world’s first heart transplant operation B. World’s smallest artificial heart saves a boy C. In class, he had to be on top but he often ignored (忽视) his teammates’ ideas, just to finish quickly and get ____18____. His lesson came during School Science Week. A. prettier B. stronger C. cheaper D. cleaner 23. A. suddenly B. quickly C. finally D. gently 24. A. worry about B. talk about C. learn from D. go after 25. A. represent B. express C. require D. lose 26. A. easy B. important C. strange D. dangerous 27. A. listen B. teach C. doubt D. clap 【答案】18. C 19. A 20. C 21. A 22. B 23. D 24. D 25. D 26. B 27. 结合语境,此处指一味追逐速成、表面的成功;go after意为追求,worry about担心、talk about谈论、learn from向…… (共15小题,每小题1.5分) A Good morning, everyone!
