Jane Goodall, a world-famous zoologist, passed away on October 1,2025. People know her well because of her pioneering research on chimpanzees (黑猩猩). Her research made the scientific community see chimpanzees in a new way and helped the global nature protection movement grow.
Born in England on April 3,1934, Goodall loved animals as her children. She dreamed of working with wild animals. In 1960, this dream came true: the 26-year-old girl went to western Tanzania to study chimpanzees. She had no formal (正规的) scientific training but a great love for learning about the natural world. To learn more about chimpanzees’ lives, she usually spent hours sitting near them. Her deep field study brought new findings that ran counter to old ideas. For example, chimpanzees use tools, have strong social connections, and have feelings. But these abilities were once thought to be only possible for humans. Thanks to Goodall’s discoveries, chimpanzees are now seen as clever and social animals.
Goodall also tried her best to protect chimpanzees, wildlife and the environment. She set up the Jane Goodall Institute in1977. It has grown into a worldwide group working on nature and wildlife protection. She also traveled around the world to speak about the risks chimpanzees face and the environmental problems the Earth deals with. “The least I can do is to speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves,” she said.

You may have seen some AR smart glasses. They are so big that people who wear them look like characters from sci-fi movies. However, Chinese tech companies have successfully changed wearable tech with smart glasses that actually look normal. They are nearly as light as a common pair of glasses, which makes them comfortable to wear for a long time.
These glasses aren’t just fashionable items with a camera and speakers added on. They are fully smart devices (设备) that use AI and new technology. Although they look just like common glasses, the view in front of you changes right away when you put them on. Just touch the button on the frame, and you can try many great functions—like real-time translation, voice recording, real-time notes and so on. Whether you’re traveling abroad, attending a busy meeting, or exploring a new city, these smart glasses can turn every moment into an efficient and enjoyable experience.
The magic behind these glasses depends on a technology called “diffraction waveguide imaging (衍射波导成像)”. It sounds hard to understand, but the idea is simple: these glasses project a green monochrome display (绿色单色显示) onto each lens, creating a personal heads-up display that only you can see. It’s like having a small screen hanging in front of you. This way, your neck won’t feel tired from looking down at your phone, and you won’t have to check your phone all the time.
Chinese smart glasses have achieved an excellent balance between technology and beauty. They show that China is leading the way in making high-tech devices fit perfectly into our daily lives.
68. What makes the Chinese smart glasses comfortable to wear for a long time?
A. Having a big size. B. Having many functions.

69. Which of the following can’t people do with the new smart glasses?
A. Real-time translation. B. Voice recording.
C. Real-time notes. D. Phone charging.
70. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Chinese smart glasses are not beautiful.
B. The new glasses must work with phones.
C. Diffraction waveguide imaging makes the new glasses special.
D. Chinese smart glasses sell well abroad.
71. What is the theme of the passage?
A. Nature. B. Culture. C. Education. D. Technology.
72. What’s the writer’s attitude (态度) towards Chinese smart glasses?

Above all, Goodall believed in young people’s power to make a positive difference. Her youth action program, Roots &Shoots, now works in more than 60 countries, helping young people become future environmental leaders.
What Goodall did reshaped humanity’s relationship with the natural world.

Since Shi Yifan discovered a small bookstore hidden in a quiet corner of the woods during a visit to a park in southern Beijing, the 30-year-old man has come to the bookstore to read every couple of weeks.“I usually visit the park to take a walk and relax with a book,” he said.
Nanyuanshe, a nice bookstore in Nanyuan Forest Wetland Park in the capital’s Fengtai District (区), is hidden among the thick green trees. The wooden building is covered with floor-to-ceiling (落地) glass, and birds often gather on the dry grass nearby. Inside, shelves filled with many kinds of books line the walls, and soft seats are placed by the windows for readers to sit and relax. On sunny days, sunlight comes through the glass walls and spills (洒) over the books inside, making it a peaceful and beautiful place for people to read.“I love Nanyuanshe. It’s quite different from the bookstores by the busy streets or in the shopping malls. It’s close to nature and helps me find peace while reading,” Shi said.
▲ They are no longer just places for morning exercises and flower viewing, but centers of cultural and social activities. The pleasant smell of coffee and books, and the lively feeling of people talking and sharing have created a new way of spending free time.
C. Being made of special materials. D. Being as light as common glasses.
69. Which of the following can’t people do with the new smart glasses?
A. Real-time translation. B. Voice recording.
C. Real-time notes. D. Phone charging.
70. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Chinese smart glasses are not beautiful.
B. The new glasses must work with phones.
C. Diffraction waveguide imaging makes the new glasses special.
D. Chinese smart glasses sell well abroad.
71. What is the theme of the passage?
A. Nature. B. Culture. C. Education. D. Technology.
72. What’s the writer’s attitude (态度) towards Chinese smart glasses?
A. Doubtful. B. Worried. C. Hopeful. D. Indifferent.

【答案】例文
Technology in My Daily Life
Technology products help us a lot in daily life. The technology product I use most is my smartphone.
First of all, it is of great help to my study. When I meet new words in my reading, I can look them up online easily. Secondly, I use it to watch English videos, which improves my listening skills. Lastly, it helps me keep in touch with my friends. We chat and share funny things with each other after school. Thanks to my smartphone, it not only makes my learning become more efficient but also has brought more joy and convenience to my life.
However, every coin has two sides. I do worry that spending too much time on phones can be a problem. Some students play games instead of studying. In my opinion, technology should help us, not control us. We should make good use of it.
