24. B。第一段末尾明确说“This has contributed a lot to her growth, shaping her character and fueling her ambition”,说明提及母亲是为了展示家庭对她性格与成长的影响。
25. B。第二段明确写道“After earning her master’ s degree… Wang joined the Beijing Aerospace Propulsion Institute in 2015, engaged in rocket engine pre-research”,即她成为一名研究员。
26. C。从在离心机承受6倍体重的离心力、“Not once did she press it(从未按下紧急按钮)”以及“years of rigoroustraining”到最终入选神舟十九号,可见训练虽极具挑战,但成果丰硕(challenging but rewarding)。
27. A。 B(破纪录)、C(开发AI助手,原文仅为“introducing”)、D(面对面授课,原文为“video-calling”)均与原文不符。
31. B。最后一段 Kempf的原话:“Our results are approximations(近似值). The actual conditions at that time cannotbe reconstructed with certainty.(研究结果是近似值,无法确定地重建当时实际情况。)”

The next morning, Jack went back to the teacher's office. His hands trembled as he knocked on the door. WhenMs. Cathy looked up, he took a deep breath and confessed,“I didn't write the essay myself—I used AI.” Tears welled up in his eyes as he explained his struggle with writing and his regret. To his surprise, Ms. Cathy smiled gently.“Honesty takes courage, Jack,” she said.“The competition is about growth, not just winning.” Her words, calm yet powerful, gave him the courage to face his own weakness.
Encouraged by Ms. Cathy, Jack decided to rewrite on his own. Sitting at his desk that afternoon, he stared at the blank paper for a long time before finally picking up his pen. The words came slowly and imperfectly, but they were truly his. After several revisions, he completed the essay and felt a sense of relief he had never experienced before. When he showed it to Ms. Cathy, she smiled with approval. At that moment, Jack realized that true success lay not in winning a prize, but in having the courage to be honest and trust himself.

M: Karen, I heard you' re looking for work. What about teaching physics in my school? We' re looking for some physics teachers now.
W: Are you kidding me? I don't have a physics degree or physics education. How can I do this job well?
M: Well, it's really hard to find physics teachers in the state now. Don't you know that many high school physics teachers in the US don't have a physics degree or physics education? Two of my colleagues have no physics degree, either.
W: Really? That's hard to believe. But I'd rather do something else, though I love teaching. I don't think people without a physics degree or physics education should teach this subject.

M: Good afternoon, ma' am. How can we help you at Loan Finder?
W: Hello. I'd like to take out a loan to buy a house.
M: All right. First, we will need to see your bank statement and credit report. We' ll also need a list of all the property you own— houses, land, cars, even shared vacation homes.
W: OK, well, I don't own any of those.
M: Fine. We also need a copy of your tax returns for the last five years.
W: Really? I don't know if I even kept copies that long.
M: You can ask the government to send you copies. Some more documents we need are your driver's license or other form of ID, marriage certificate, and passport. If you' ve taken out any other loans in the past three years, we need to have that information, too.
W: Wow, that's a lot of information! Do you need to read all of my personal emails, too?
Text 8
W: You' ll never believe what happened to me last week.
M: When you were visiting Laura?
W: Yes. When we were walking up to her apartment on Monday, I tripped on the stairs. I couldn't catch myself, andI landed right on my nose!
M: Ouch! Did you break it?
W: No, but it hurt a little. I felt so embarrassed, because it happened in front of her friends. If I had only been withLaura, I wouldn't have minded. But that's not all that happened during my trip.
M: Let me guess— you fell down the stairs, too?
W: Close. We were walking by the river early Wednesday morning. I looked up at some birds in the sky and fell down! Once again, I fell right on my nose!
M: Wow! What bad luck!
W: You won't believe it, but it happened a third time!
M: You' re kidding!
W: I'm not. This time, we were walking quickly to catch the train on Friday. I was wearing a long skirt and must have tripped on it. I fell flat on my face again. Despite all the falls, my nose feels fine right now.
M: You' re lucky— but pretty clumsy!
Text 9

M: Have you had any contact with China in your present job?
W: Yes, quite a lot. In fact, the market for all types of luxury holidays for Chinese tourists has increased a lot recently.
M: Really? I'd like to hear more about that. Tell me, though, how did you travel when you were in China?
W: I usually traveled by train. I love train travel. That's why I'm very interested in this job. Sometimes I took planes, but only when I was in a hurry.
Text 10
W: In our programme today, we’ ll talk about amusement parks. As places to have fun, they first appeared in theUS in the 1800s. For many years, the most famous amusement parks in the world were in Coney Island, New York.Around the 1820s, Coney Island was a popular place for wealthy people. In the late 1800s, it became popular with working class people, too. Several amusement parks were built there in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Today, 10million people a year still visit Coney Island.
The US amusement parks began to change in the mid-1900s. Before that time, they were usually found in cities. Now they are mostly away from the city centre. Today, most amusement parks are called“theme parks”. Their rides, shows, restaurants, and shops follow historical or cultural themes. At most US theme parks, people do not have to pay for each ride or show. They only pay the entrance fee. Then they can see the shows and go on the rides as many times as they want to in one day. Of course, they must pay for any food or souvenirs they buy in the park.

Pic du Midi, France
There are few observatories where you can observe stars before retiring to a comfortable cabin and watch the sunrise. The guided astronomy sessions help kids discover Saturn and its rings via powerful telescopes.

As an International Dark Sky Reserve in the world, this lovely part of Yorkshire,England plays host to one of the UK's family-friendly National Parks Dark Skies Festivals. Well timed to coincide with the latter part of autumn half term in England, the North York Moors Dark Skies Fringe Festival includes bat box making, evenings with winter birds and moonlit coastal walks.
Kennedy Space Center, America
The NASA-operated Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is a must for ambitious astronauts and space-lovers. Hands-on experiences range from live presentations delivered by astronauts to the new Astronaut Training Experience Center. Children aged10 to 17 can experience spacewalking and exploring Mars.
Mount Teide, Spain
Home to the largest solar observatory in the world, it sits on Spain's highest mountain. Ride the cable car up for a scientist-led tour, which includes the chance to observe the sun through hand-held solar telescopes. The special family tour includes an attractive 90-minute workshop exploring how observatory physicists carry out their research.

Born in 1990 in Hebei province, Wang Haoze, China's first female space flight engineer, grew up with a strong belief from her mother that“there is nothing a girl cannot do” This has contributed a lot to her growth, shaping her character and fueling her ambition.
After earning her master's degree from Southeast University, Wang joined the Beijing Aerospace Propulsion Institute in 2015, engaged in rocket engine pre-research.When China began the process to select its third group of astronauts in 2018, she seized the opportunity and applied. Transitioning from an engineer to an astronaut required not only technical knowledge and skills but also outstanding adaptability, physical fitness and mental resilience.
The training included exhausting physical conditioning, psychological training and space environment simulations. During centrifuge(离心机) tests, Wang endured forces six times her body weight, with her hands resting on a red button that could stop the machine at any moment. Not once did she press it.“I am the only woman among the country's third group of astronauts,” she says,“and I don't think I should receive special treatment. I had the competence and confidence to compete with my other 17teammates.”
After years of rigorous training, Wang was selected for the Shenzhou-19 mission. On October 29, 2024, she was introduced to the public. She spent 183 days in orbit, carrying out 86 scientific experiments, video- calling students from Bulgaria, and introducing an AI assistant named“Xiaohang” to help with daily tasks. On April 30,2025, she returned to Earth safely.
Reflecting on her journey, Wang said:“From being a rocket engine designer to a space engineer, my role has evolved, yet my unwavering commitment to serving my country through space exploration remains the same.” Her story is powerful evidence of what determination and hard work can achieve.

Climate-driven migration(迁徙) is often viewed as a modern crisis, but history tells a different story. A team of researchers from the University of Basel has shown that large-scale environmental instability shaped societies more than a thousand years ago.
Their study examined how severe hydrological(水文学的 ) extremes such as prolonged droughts and destructive floods in the late Tang Dynasty influenced political stability in China. The research focused on northern China, particularly the region surrounding the Yellow River, an area central to agriculture, transportation, and political power.
To understand how the climate shifted during this critical period, scientists turned to natural archives(档案)— tree rings. In wetter years, sufficient rainfall allows trees to grow more quickly, producing wider rings. In dry years, growth slows, leaving narrower rings. The longer a tree lives, the further back this environmental record extends, offering a detailed timeline of past climate conditions. The team relied on long-term tree ring datasets from the Yellow River basin to reconstruct historical runoff(径流量)patterns, which directly affected farming.
Their findings revealed that a rise in severe weather events played a part in the fall of the Tang Dynasty in 907 CE. More frequent droughts and floods placed intense pressure on the soldiers responsible for defending the frontiers, as well as on their families. Crop failures became common due to extreme weather. With shortages mounting, supply routes collapsing, and hunger spreading, many people migrated south in search of better conditions, leading to political destabilization and contributing to theTang Dynasty's fall.
However, the study's first author Michael Kempf emphasizes,“Our results are approximations(近似值). The actual conditions at that time cannot be reconstructed with certainty. It's a complex mutual effect of many different factors.” The study concluded that environmental phenomena and their consequences can disrupt social structures and destabilize political systems. This is a development that could occur more frequently in view of climate change today.
28. What is the main purpose of the study?
A. To question tree rings for climate research.
B. To predict the potential new climate crises.
C. To link climate change to political changes.
D. To analyze the reason for ancient migration.
29. How did the researchers get climate data of the Tang Dynasty?
A. By studying ancient trees’ growth patterns.
B. By surveying the ancient migration routes.
C. By analyzing official historical documents.
D. By examining the remains of ancient crops.
30. What did the research find about the role of climate in the late Tang Dynasty?
A. It directly contributed to the end of the dynasty.
B. It was the major reason for the dynasty's collapse.
C. It physically destroyed most of the dynasty's frontier defence.
D. It set off a chain of events causing the dynasty's fall.
31. What does Michael Kempf think of the findings?
A. They overstate environmental roles.
B. They are estimates and require caution.
C They ignore Tang's social structures.
D. They are accurate and widely applicable.
D
Bacteria are an annoying problem for astronauts. The microorganisms(微生物)from our bodies grow uncontrollably on surfaces of the International Space Station, so astronauts spend hours cleaning them up each week. How is NASA overcoming this very tiny big problem? It's turning to a bunch of high school kids. But not just any kids. It is depending on NASA HUNCH high school classrooms, like the one science teachers Gene Gordon and Donna Himmelberg lead at Fairport High School in Fairport, New York.
HUNCH is designed to connect high school classrooms with NASA engineers. For the past two years, Gordon's students have been studying ways to kill bacteria in zero gravity, and they think they' re close to a solution.“We don't give the students any breaks. They have to do it just like NASA engineers,” says Florence Gold, a project manager.
“There are no tests,” Gordon says.“There is no standard homework. There almost are no grades, other than‘Are you working towards your goal?’ Basically, it’ s‘I' ve got to produce this product and then, at the end of the year, present it to NASA.’Engineers come and really do an in-person review, and ... it's not a very nice thing at times. It's a hard business review of your product.”
Gordon says the HUNCH program has an impact on college admissions and practical life skills. These kids are so absorbed in their studies that I just sit back. I don't teach. And that annoying bacteria? Gordon says his students are emailing daily with NASA engineers about the problem, readying a workable solution to test in space.
32. What do we know about the bacteria in the International Space Station?
A. They are hard to get rid of.
B They lead to air pollution.
C. They appear in different forms.
D. They damage the instruments.
33. What is the purpose of the HUNCH program?
A. To strengthen teacher-student relationships.
B. To sharpen students’ communication skills.
C. To allow students to experience zero gravity.
D. To link space technology with school education.
34. What do the NASA engineers do for the students in the program?
A. Check their product. B. Guide project designs.
C. Adjust work schedules. D. Grade their homework.
35. What is the best title for the text?
A. NASA: The Home of Astronauts
B. Space: The Final Homework Frontier
C. Nature: An Outdoor Classroom
D. HUNCH: A College Admission Reform

As a student of Chinese language and culture, I was introduced to many fascinating aspects of the country's culinary(烹饪的) heritage. One dish that particularly stood out in my studies was Crossing Bridge Rice Noodles, a specialty from Yunnan Province. In2024, when I traveled to Yunnan, I finally experienced this famous dish firsthand. 36
Walking into a traditional Yunnan restaurant and settling down, I felt anticipation that only a long-awaited experience can bring. 37 Each ingredient was presented separately, allowing me to customize my bowl according to my preference. The waiter placed a large bowl of hot broth(肉汤) in front of me, followed by thinly sliced meats, fresh vegetables, quail eggs, tofu skin, and herbs. Then, the most exciting part came:white, smooth, and silky rice noodles.
Following the traditional method, I first added the raw meat slices into the hot broth, watching them cook instantly. Then, I added the vegetables, tofu and eggs, letting them blend into the broth. 38 As I lifted the noodles with my chopsticks, their delicate texture was evident—— soft, yet firm enough to hold their shape.
39 The broth, made from slow-simmered chicken and pork bones, was rich and deeply comforting. The rice noodles were incredibly smooth, almost jellylike, yet with a satisfying chewiness. The combination of fresh ingredients created a balance of textures—— tender meat, crisp vegetables, and silky noodles, all coming together harmoniously.
Trying the dish in Yunnan was an experience that connected me to China's rich culinary heritage and reaffirmed(再次确定) the deep bond between food and culture. This dish, with its rich broth, silky noodles, and heartwarming service, is a representation of the beauty of Chinese cuisine. 40
A. The first bite was an explosion of flavors.
B. The dish was served in a traditional manner.
C. What amazed me was how familiar the flavors felt.
D. Finally, I carefully placed the rice noodles into the bowl.
E. And now, it holds a special place in my personal journey as well.
F. While studying in Beijing, I often heard about the legendary dish.
G. The experience was absolutely extraordinary in every possible way.

UNESCO is fighting to preserve the world's cultural and natural heritage. There are 56 (current) around I,100 sites in over 160 countries. Unfortunately, many are in urgent danger due to natural forces, human activities, and rapid development.
Natural forces like wind and water gradually wear down heritage sites. For example, the Great Pyramid of Giza is now several metres 57 (short) than before.Natural disasters can also cause severe damage. In 2003, a terrible earthquake 58 (shake) south-eastern Iran and ruined large parts of Bam, a UNESCO site.
Human activities are particularly harmful. Wars, whether accidental 59 on purpose, have destroyed invaluable heritage sites. Meanwhile, the flood of tourists leads to wear and tear. The temples of Angkor are classic examples 60 unique architecture. Thousands of tourists climbing the stone steps every day are wearing down these ancient buildings.
Human population growth 61 (increase) the demand for production and consumption of goods, thus 62 (put) heritage sites in danger. The Historic Centre of Vienna, 63 is famous as Europe's musical capital, is now on the List of World Heritage in Danger because of high-rise constructions.
64 surprises us most is that the disappearance of heritage sites would be disastrous. Take the Great Barrier Reef as an example. Its loss would harm marine life and destroy local livelihoods. We all share a joint responsibility to protect these treasures. Let's take action to ensure their 65 (survive).

The English writing competition drew near. Jack, who had always struggled to put his thoughts into coherent words, determined to turn to AI for help.
He simply input the given theme of the competition, added a few key words, and hit“generate”. Much to his delight, in less than 5 minutes, the screen lit up. A vivid and well-structured essay was presented. Jack was amazed by how effortlessly the well-chosen words flowed on the page. Without a second thought, Jack signed his name and submitted the piece, ignoring the tiny voice of guilt from the bottom of his heart.
His essay stood out among hundreds of entries and was selected to represent the school in the municipal-level contest. When his English teacher, Ms. Cathy, called him to her office, Jack's heart skipped a beat. With a gentle but firm tone, Ms. Cathy looked straight into his eyes and asked,“Jack, I need you to tell me the truth—— did you write this essay entirely on your own?” The question hung in the air, heavy and inescapable. Jack's mind went blank for a moment. The thought of losing the chance to compete, of being laughed at by his classmates for cheating, overwhelmed him. Taking a shaky breath, he kept his eyes off the teacher and nodded,“Yes, Ms. Cathy. Every word is mine.”
Ms. Cathy nodded, seemingly satisfied, and patted his shoulder,“That's great.Your genuine hard work will pay off. This essay has a unique perspective, and I'm sure it will shine at the municipal contest.” But Jack didn't feel any joy. On the contrary, a sense of guilt weighed heavily on him. That night, he tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep. The lie he had told kept echoing in his ears. He thought about Ms. Cathy's trusting eyes, about the meaning of the competition, and about how proud he would have felt if he had written the essay himself. He was torn between the fear of being exposed and the desire to do the right thing.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
The next morning, Jack went back to the teacher's office.
Encouraged by Ms. Cathy, Jack decided to rewrite on his own.
