Small Hands, Big Change
There is only one earth, so it’s our duty to protect the environment. Our school calls on each class to set up an environmentally friendly corner, which is a great idea.
As a member of our class, I think we should take an active part in this activity. In our environmentally-friendly corner, there should be recycling bins for paper, plastic and glass. We can also put up posters about environmental protection tips like reminding everyone to turn off the lights when leaving the classroom.
Having this corner will help us to be more eco-friendly in our daily life. Through start with small actions, we can do our part in protecting the earth. So I believe the environmentally-friendly corner is a great way to practice environmental protection and make our class a greener place.

Wildfires are one of the most dangerous natural disasters in the world. They can do great harm to nature and people. They can be caused by many things, such as lightning strikes in dry forests, people’s carelessness like not putting out campfires, and hot weather that makes plants dry and easy to burn.
Once a wildfire starts, it spreads very fast, burning large areas of forests, houses and crops. It can also hurt or even kill people and animals, and make the air very dirty. If you are in a forest when a wildfire starts, the most important thing is to stay calm and not panic. You should run to an open place as quickly as possible, such as a field, a road or a clearing, because there are no trees or grass to help the fire burn. You should also cover your mouth and nose with a wet cloth to stop breathing in harmful smoke.
If you are at home when a wildfire comes, you should close all the doors and windows tightly to keep smoke out. You should also turn off the gas and electricity to stop fires or explosions.
Firefighters and volunteers often work very hard to put out wildfires. They risk their lives to save people and protect homes. Sometimes, they make firebreaks, which are areas without trees or grass, to prevent the fire from spreading.
Besides, we can also do something to stop wildfires in our daily life. We should never start fires in the forest, and we should be very careful with matches and lighters, especially in dry weather. We should also tell our friends and family about the danger of wildfires and work together to protect our environment.

Every year, around 100 million birds in the UK fly into glass by mistake. Many birds get hurt, and some even die. This problem is very serious for birds and for nature.
Birds see the world differently from humans. They do not understand reflections (映像). When a bird sees a tree or the sky in a window, it thinks they are real. The bird then flies towards it and hits the glass. This can cause great harm to the bird.
Now, one nature reserve (保护区) in England is trying to stop this problem by putting an ultraviolet (UV) film (紫外线薄膜) on windows. The film can make birds see the glass easily, but it is still see-through for humans.
Birds have very smart eyes. They can see UV light, but humans cannot. Putting a UV film on windows is a win-win for humans and birds. To birds, the windows look like a wall, so they can avoid them while flying by. To humans, the windows look normal and clear, so they can keep on looking out of the windows and enjoying the scenery!
A restaurant near the nature reserve uses this film on its floor-to-ceiling (落地式的) windows. This way, people can sit inside and enjoy birdwatching through the windows over the wetlands. Thousands of birds stop over there every year. Anna Cork, who works at the nature reserve, says they are proud to be taking meaningful action to protect their feathered friends.
21.How does the writer start the passage?
A.By telling a story.B.By introducing a fact.C.By giving an example. D.By describing a process.

C.It makes glass easier for birds to see. D.It stops people from getting too close to birds.
24.How does Anna Cork probably feel about using the UV film?
A.Positive. B.Worried. C.Curious. D.Sorry.
25.What’s the best title for the passage?

Forests are home to millions of species, but human activities like illegal logging (非法砍伐) and land clearing are destroying these habitats. If we don’t act soon, many plants and animals will disappear forever. However, people around the world are taking steps to protect forests — and every small effort counts.
In Yunnan Province, China, local villagers once noticed that the number of black crested gibbons (黑冠长臂猿) was dropping. These rare animals depend on tall trees for food and shelter, but too many trees were being cut down. Working with an environmental group called Forest Guardian, the villagers made a rule: no one could cut trees in the gibbons’ living area. They also set up observation points to watch the gibbons and taught tourists about protecting the species. “We used to think cutting trees was the only way to make money,” said villager Mr Li. “Now we know protecting the gibbons means protecting our home too.”
Another group, Green Earth, focuses on saving trees by reducing paper waste. They started a project called “Paper Cycle” in schools and offices. People collect used paper, which is then sent to factories to be recycled into new paper. This way, fewer trees need to be cut down for paper production. Last year, the project helped save more than 5,000 trees across three cities.
These stories show that anyone can help protect forests. Whether it’s following a village rule or recycling paper, small actions add up. We all have a part to play in keeping the natural world alive.
26.What does the underlined word “They” in Paragraph 2 refer to?
A.Tourists visiting the forest. B.Workers from Forest Guardian.
C.Black crested gibbons. D.Local villagers in Yunnan.
27.What is the purpose of the “Paper Cycle” project started by Green Earth?
A.To encourage people to use more paper. B.To reduce paper waste and save trees.
C.To teach students how to make paper. D.To sell recycled paper to factories.

A.More than 3,000. B.More than 4,000.
C.More than 5,000. D.More than 6,000.
29.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?

The ocean is our great treasure. It gives us fresh seafood and clean energy, and keeps the earth’s climate balanced. It is also home to millions of sea creatures, making our planet lively and colourful. To help more people learn about the importance of the ocean, a special day was set up.
World Oceans Day Information
Time
It is on June 8 every year.
Purpose
It helps people think about the important role that the ocean plays in our lives, the dangers that the ocean is facing and the actions that we can take to protect the ocean.
Topic of 2026
Strong Marine (海洋的) Protected Areas for Our Blue Planet
We can explore the ocean with modern tools like underwater cameras and diving equipment (潜水设备). These amazing tools act as our “eyes” and “hands” in the deep sea. Underwater cameras send back live videos of deep sea life, helping scientists study animals they have never seen before. Diving equipment lets scientists get close to sea animals to learn about their habits without hurting them. By using these tools, we are discovering new kinds of life all the time and learning how to better protect our blue planet.
When people talk of exploring the ocean, there are different points.
We need to explore the ocean. Ocean exploration can help us find new energy and food resources (资源). It can make human life better and also offer better ways to protect the ocean.
By studying the ocean, we can collect some information. It is important for understanding and predicting climate change, which can help us protect our planet better.
We should protect the ocean first instead of exploring it. The ocean is in danger because of pollution (污染) and overfishing. And more exploration means more pollution. If we don’t protect it, there will be no ocean to explore.
56.When is World Oceans Day?
57.How can we explore the ocean according to the passage?

28.How many trees did the “Paper Cycle” project help save last year?
A.More than 3,000. B.More than 4,000.
C.More than 5,000. D.More than 6,000.
29.Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?

We can explore the ocean with modern tools like underwater cameras and diving equipment (潜水设备). These amazing tools act as our “eyes” and “hands” in the deep sea. Underwater cameras send back live videos of deep sea life, helping scientists study animals they have never seen before. Diving equipment lets scientists get close to sea animals to learn about their habits without hurting them. By using these tools, we are discovering new kinds of life all the time and learning how to better protect our blue planet.
When people talk of exploring the ocean, there are different points.
