That’s when we had the solar panels installed, linked to an app on my phone. Now, wherever I am, I can open the app and see how much electricity we are creating and how much we are consuming. Right now, we’re exporting 2.37 kilowatts to the grid (电网). I enjoy the feeling. Yes, I’m saving the planet. More to the point: I’m making upwards of 10 cents an hour, DOING NOTHING. Certainly, you have to put in a bit of effort. Ever since I became an energy exporter, I have been patrolling (巡逻) the house, trying to maximize our production. Of course, I get some complaints from my wife, Jocasta, along the lines of “I was using that light to read a book” or “Why didn’t you save my work before turning off my computer,” but I think she is grateful for my assistance. The only problem? Just last night, I turned off everything, but we were still consuming 0.05 of a kilowatt. I checked the fridge. It was not humming (哼鸣). All the overhead lights were out. Nothing was on standby. Yet there it was. I hardly slept, my mind trying to work through every corner of the house. Back at office, I find it hard to tear my eyes away from the app. Right now, it’s midday. Jocasta is at home. I glance at the app. Oh no! Clouds overhead! Disaster! We’re now producing nothing. Nothing at all. And consumption is suddenly through the roof. We’re using up grid power. What’s Jocasta up to? Running a factory? The next day, at work, around midday, I check the app just to calculate how much I’ve earned. What? Disaster! Clouds overhead again and yet power still being used. Jocasta is out of the house. Why, oh why, has Jocasta left the TV remote in reach of the dog? I must have a word with him. You see, sometimes it’s hard to be ahead of your time. 4. What can we learn about the author from paragraph 1? A. He is a creative businessman. B. He takes pride in the solar gains. C. He enjoys launching campaigns. D. He has a gift for app development. 5. What does Jocasta complain about? A. The unknown waste of power. B. Her family’s impatient attitude. C. The unstable supply of electricity. D. Her husband’s unreasonable behavior. 6. What does the underlined phrase “through the roof” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Rocketing. B. Changing. C. Freezing. D. Diving. 7. What message does the text convey? A. Actions speak louder than words. B. A penny saved is a penny earned. C. Great minds think ahead of their time. D. Technology is a good servant but a bad master. C Hiromu Yakura, a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, first became aware of differences in his own vocabulary about a year after ChatGPT came out. Researchers had previously found that use of large language models (LLMs), such as those that power ChatGPT, was changing vocabulary choices in written communication, and Yakura and his colleagues wanted to know whether spoken communication was being affected, too. Researchers first used ChatGPT to edit large amounts of text like emails and articles using instructions such as “polish” or “improve clarity.” They identified words ChatGPT added frequently, like “delve,” labeling these GPT words. Next, the team analyzed over 360,000 YouTube videos and 770,000 podcast (播客) episodes from before and after ChatGPT’s release to track the use of GPT words over time. They compared the GPT words with “synthetic (合成) controls,” which were formed by mathematically weighting synonyms (同义词) that weren’t frequently used by the chatbot-such synonyms for “delve,” for example, could include “examine” and “explore.” The team’s results show a significant rise in GPT words in the 18 months after ChatGPT’s release. The words didn’t just appear in formal, scripted videos or podcast episodes; they were peppered into natural conversation, too. “The patterns stored in AI technology seem to be sending back to the human mind,” notes co-author Levin Brinkmann, describing a cultural feedback cycle: humans train AI on text, AI returns statistically remixed versions, and then people unconsciously adopt its patterns. “It’s natural for humans to imitate one another, but we’re more likely to copy what someone else is doing if we perceive them as being knowledgeable or important,” Brinkmann says. As more people look to AI as a cultural authority, they may rely on and imitate it over other sources, resulting in a likeness of language styles and expressions. Tracking LLMs’ cultural impact is critical, according to the University of Chicago expert James Evans. “In this moment in the evolution (进化) of LLMs, looking at word distribution is the right methodology to understand how the technology is affecting the way we communicate,” he says, “But as the models mature, these distributions are going to be harder to distinguish.” Scientists may need to look at broader linguistic trends beyond word choice, such as sentence structure and how ideas are presented. 8. What made Yakura begin the new research? A. Desire to explore potentials of LLMs. B. Changes in personal vocabulary choices. C. Previous research on written communication. D. Dissatisfaction over poor performance of ChatGPT. 9. Why were the GPT words tracked in the research? A. To show how diverse they are. B. To measure their influence on language. C. To check if they work in various contexts. D. To compare them with human word choices. 10. Brinkmann mentions the trend of the cultural feedback cycle to illustrate ________. A. it provides a different approach to learning B. it results in misjudgment of cultural authorities C. it is a natural part of technological development D. it carries a hidden risk to the richness of language 11. What is suggested in the last paragraph? A. A notable increase in sample size. B. A probable shift in the future research focus. C. A timely application of the research findings. D. A thorough evaluation of the current research. Festive Fitness The holidays are always the most stressful part of my year. No matter how much I plan, my usual workout routine disappears in the chaos. But I’m determined to change that this time. ____12____ With it in mind, I’m going to get creative to keep it up. Staying fit doesn’t require long hours. To be efficient, I focus on high-intensity interval training Research shows it’s one of the most effective methods. It involves short bursts of maximum effort followed by a brief rest. A classic study found that just 4 minutes of this pattern, done regularly, improved fitness more than an hour of moderate exercise. ____13____ Even minutes of intensive activity count. ____14____ For example, a recent study linked 3. 5 minutes of daily intensive activity to a lower heart disease risk in women. Another analysis found such bursts cut the risk of heart attack and stroke by 20% for everyone. ____15____ I think of them as “exercise snacks.” Chasing a bus, carrying heavy groceries, or sprinting through an airport all qualify. Even taking the stairs quickly helps — a study showed that intensively climbing stairs several times a week can boost cardiovascular (心血管的) fitness by 5% in just weeks. Don’t underestimate the power of walking. While 10,000 steps is a common goal, a new study found that 7,000 steps daily is enough to significantly lower the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and other conditions. ____16____ Going for long walks with family becomes a perfect way to stay active and reconnect during the holidays. A. So we can achieve a lot in very little time. B. This makes walking a more practical activity. C. These short bursts of intensive activity happen naturally. D. Moderate exercise like walking is also valuable for health. E. Consistency is key to fitness, and that requires adaptability. F. In fact, these micro-workouts offer significant health benefits. G. Noticing his interest, the librarian, Ms. Kim, handed him a flyer. “The winning drawings will be displayed right here in the library,” she added. Sitting on the library steps outside, Nate was lost in thought. He had always loved art. He could never have too many sketchpads (素描本) and crayons. “I have to enter this contest!” he said to himself. But something troubled him. Years of living in the small town had convinced him that it was a dull place. “There’s nothing special about it — only ordinary farms, animals, and trees!” he frowned. “What will I draw?” Just then, Briana Williams, a new girl in his class who had just moved from Houston, a large modern city in Texas, walked out. Spotting Nate, she sat down beside him and noticed the flyer. “A drawing contest? That sounds fun!” “Not really,” Nate sighed. “Trust me, this town is a big bore.” Briana looked surprised. “Well, everything here may seem boring to you, but to me, it’s all new! I’d love to see more of it. Show me around sometime. And bring your sketchpad — you might find something worth drawing.” The next Saturday, they wandered down a quiet lane together. Briana stopped beneath a large maple and gazed up in awe. Nate paused beside her. At first, it felt strange to admire a tree he’d passed a hundred times. But as he followed her gaze, the sun was shining through the branches, turning the red and yellow leaves into a sea of burning gold. “There’s nowhere this quiet and pretty in Houston,” Briana said softly. Nate felt something clicked in his mind. Highland wasn’t a big bore — he was just too used to it. He began to wonder what other hidden beauty was waiting to be discovered. Inspired, Nate suggested they visit his Grandpa’s farm. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ On the day of the award ceremony, the library was crowded. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 福州三中2025-2026学年第二学期高二期中考试 英语试卷 (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 第一部分 听力(共两节,20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面5段录音。 1. B 5. D 6. A 7. 根据第一段“I enjoy the feeling. Yes, I’m saving the planet. More to the point: I’m making upwards of 10 cents an hour, DOING NOTHING.(我很享受这种感觉。没错,我在拯救地球。更重要的是:我什么都不用做,每小时就能赚10多美分。)”可知,作者为自己利用太阳能获得收益并节能的行为感到自豪。故选B。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“I get some complaints from my wife, Jocasta, along the lines of ‘I was using that light to read a book’ or ‘Why didn’t you save my work before turning off my computer’(我妻子乔卡斯塔会有些抱怨,比如‘我正用那盏灯看书呢’或者‘你关我电脑之前怎么不保存我的文件’)”可知,妻子抱怨丈夫不合理的关灯、关电脑等控制用电的行为。 Clouds overhead! Disaster! We’re now producing nothing. Nothing at all. And consumption is suddenly through the roof. We’re using up grid power.(哦不!乌云密布!糟了!我们现在一点电都发不出来了。而用电量却突然through the roof。我们正在耗尽电网的电力。)”可知,太阳能不发电时,用电量急剧上升,through the roof意为“急剧上升、飞涨”,与rocketing含义一致。故选A。 根据第一段中“Well, since last month. That’s when we had the solar panels installed, linked to an app on my phone. Now, wherever I am, I can open the app and see how much electricity we are creating and how much we are consuming.(嗯,是从上个月开始算的。就在上个月,我们家装了太阳能板,还连了我手机上的一个应用。现在不管我在哪儿,只要打开这个应用,就能看到我们发了多少电、用了多少电。)”、倒数第二段中“Back at office, I find it hard to tear my eyes away from the app.(回到办公室,我发现我的眼睛很难从这个应用程序上移开。) ”、最后一段中“You see, sometimes it’s hard to be ahead of your time.(你看,有时候走在时代的前面是很难的。)” D。 C Hiromu Yakura, a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, first became aware of differences in his own vocabulary about a year after ChatGPT came out. B 9. B 10. D 11. 根据第一段中的“Hiromu Yakura, a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, first became aware of differences in his own vocabulary about a year after ChatGPT came out. Researchers had previously found that use of large language models (LLMs), such as those that power ChatGPT, was changing vocabulary choices in written communication, and Yakura and his colleagues wanted to know whether spoken communication was being affected, too.(马克斯·普朗克人类发展研究所的博士后研究员弘木矢仓(Hiromu Yakura)在ChatGPT问世大约一年后,首次意识到自己的词汇使用的差异。研究人员此前发现,像为ChatGPT提供支持的那些大型语言模型(LLM)的使用,正在改变书面交流中的词汇选择,而矢仓和他的同事们想知道口头交流是否也受到了影响)”可知,矢仓开始这项新研究是因为他发现自己的词汇选择发生了变化,且受此前书面交流相关研究启发,想探究口头交流是否受影响,核心触发点是个人词汇选择的变化。故选B项。 【9题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段中的“Next, the team analyzed over 360,000 YouTube videos and 770,000 podcast (播客) episodes from before and after ChatGPT’s release to track the use of GPT words over time. They compared the GPT words with “synthetic (合成) controls,” which were formed by mathematically weighting synonyms (同义词) that weren’t frequently used by the chatbot — such synonyms for “delve,” for example, could include “examine” and “explore.”(接下来,该团队分析了ChatGPT发布前后的超过36万个YouTube视频和77万个播客剧集,以追踪GPT词汇随时间的使用情况。他们将GPT词汇与“合成对照词汇”进行比较,后者是通过对聊天机器人不常使用的同义词进行数学加权形成的——例如,“delve”的同义词可能包括“examine”和“explore”)”以及第三段中对追踪结果的分析可知,研究中追踪GPT词汇是为了了解其在不同时间段、不同场景中的使用变化,进而衡量大型语言模型对人类语言(包括口头交流)的影响。故选B项。 【10题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中的“The patterns stored in AI technology seem to be sending back to the human mind,” notes co-author Levin Brinkmann, describing a cultural feedback cycle: humans train AI on text, AI returns statistically remixed versions, and then people unconsciously adopt its patterns. “It’s natural for humans to imitate one another, but we’re more likely to copy what someone else is doing if we perceive them as being knowledgeable or important,” Brinkmann says. As more people look to AI as a cultural authority, they may rely on and imitate it over other sources, resulting in a likeness of language styles and expressions.(合著者莱文·布林克曼(Levin Brinkmann)指出:“人工智能技术中存储的模式似乎正在反馈给人类思维。” 根据最后一段中的“In this moment in the evolution (进化) of LLMs, looking at word distribution is the right methodology to understand how the technology is affecting the way we communicate,” he says, “But as the models mature, these distributions are going to be harder to distinguish.” Scientists may need to look at broader linguistic trends beyond word choice, such as sentence structure and how ideas are presented.(他说:“在大型语言模型发展的这个阶段,观察词汇分布是了解该技术如何影响我们交流方式的正确方法。 Festive Fitness The holidays are always the most stressful part of my year. G. Taking a traditional approach to exercise ensures steady progress. 12. E 13. A 14. F 15. C 16. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Possible Version Inspired, Nate suggested they visit his Grandpa’s farm. Briana’s eyes lit up, and the two set off right away. When they arrived, Briana gasped, “This is amazing!” Her wonder was infectious — Nate looked around, feeling as if he were seeing the farm for the first time. Golden wheat fields swayed in the breeze like a rolling ocean, fluffy sheep grazing peacefully in the sunlight. He stood there, completely captivated. Then, Briana gently nudged him. “You should draw this, Nate. It’s a perfect scene.” That was it. Nate pulled out his sketchpad immediately, his pencil dancing across the paper. As his painting took shape, he wondered why he had never thought to draw the farm before.Once he looked closely, it really was a fascinating place. By sunset, his sketchpad was filled with lively drawings. On the day of the award ceremony, the library was crowded. Local residents gathered around, buzzing with anticipation. Nate stood nervously among them, his heart pounding. Ms. Kim stepped onto the stage. “Every drawing captures the unique beauty of our town,” she said warmly, “but one work truly stood out.” She paused, and then announced Nate’s name. He walked up in disbelief, hands trembling as he accepted the award. The audience applauded loudly, and Briana waved at him from the crowd, beaming with pride. Nate stepped back, looking at his winning piece on the wall — a vivid scene of Grandpa’s farm bathed in golden sunlight. A warm smile spread across his face — beauty had always been there, and sometimes all it took was a pair of fresh eyes to see it. 词汇激活 行为类 ①出发:set off/depart/leave for ②到达:arrived/get to/reach ③走上舞台:step onto the stage/walk onto the stage/go up on the stage 情绪类 ①紧张:nervously/anxiously/with tension ②怀疑:disbelief/doubt/skepticism 【点睛】【高分句型1】Her wonder was infectious — Nate looked around, feeling as if he were seeing the farm for the first time.(运用了现在分词作状语以及as if引导表语从句) 【高分句型2】As his painting took shape, he wondered why he had never thought to draw the farm before.(运用了as引导时间状语从句以及why引导宾语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
