A Special Birthday
It was the birthday of Gina’s father. Gina and her 13 happily went to a Chinese restaurant to have a great dinner there.
The restaurant had Beijing Roast Duck, fried noodles and many other nice dishes. Dad loved Chinese dishes a lot, and they 14 his favorite ones. Then mom said, “Let’s get a large bowl of 15 for your dad. I hear they’re a symbol of long life in China.” “ 16 Great!” Gina cried. The dishes soon arrived and the family sang the song “Happy Birthday” to Dad.
17 , the lights went out and people all stopped talking. The restaurant was so dark and everyone got a little worried. “What’s wrong? How long can it be bright again?”
Soon the restaurant’s owner 18 and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, I’m sorry for this blackout (停电). But don’t worry, our waiters and waitresses will bring you candles.” Ten minutes later, each table got a candle on it and people started to talk again.
“Dad!” Gina said, “We’ll have to have your birthday dinner in the dark!” “Cool!” Dad said, “Look! The candles gave out beautiful light, and all the people were 19 smiles. “Don’t you think the candlelight makes the restaurant a warm place?”
“You’re right, dad!” Gina looked around and smiled, “Now everything here looks so special and great!”
“So we are really 20 to have a birthday dinner here!” Dad said, smiling too.

18.A.woke B.shouted C.arrived D.jumped
19.A.wearing B.keeping C.putting D.turning
20.A.lucky B.surprised C.strange D.healthy
13.B 14.D 15.B 16.C 17.D 18.C 19.A 20.A
原文第一句“It was the birthday of Gina’s father.”
前一句说“The restaurant had Beijing Roast Duck, fried noodles and many other nice dishes.”,这是餐厅提供的菜品。
妈妈提议给父亲点“a large bowl of ...”,并解释“they’re a symbol of long life in China”。
“Sounds great!”
父亲观察周围,看到“all the people were...smiles”。

When I recently visited Unitree Robotics, a cutting-edge (尖端的) Chinese humanoid (类人的) robot company in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, I decided to test their creation in a unique way.
I volunteered for an experiment—having both the robot and myself standing side by side and pushed over, in order to see who would recover their balance more quickly.
To make things even more challenging, I requested to be blindfolded (蒙住眼睛), ensuring I couldn’t anticipate the push. The result blew my mind. While I was struggling to keep my balance, the humanoid robot hardly moved, staying still in place.
The level of advancement in Chinese humanoid robotics has been far beyond what I anticipated. Earlier this month, Unitree offered an update on their engineering, showcasing (展示) their humanoid robots walking down a boardwalk (木板道), making their way across uneven terrain (地形) and catching up with a human jogger. The company said that the latest robot was “the most agile” robot so far.
This development holds significant meaning. More importantly, Chinese robotics makers are mass-producing them and making them cheap for common consumers (消费者).
24.Why did the writer visit Unitree Robotics?
A.To buy a humanoid robot. B.To test the robot’s balance recovery ability.
C.To work as a volunteer engineer. D.To learn how to make robots.
25.What does “blew my mind” mean in Paragraph 3?
A.Made me confused. B.Made me excited.
C.Made me surprised. D.Made me worried.
26.What did the experiment show?
A.The writer could keep still all the time.
B.The robot moved faster than the writer.
C.The robot recovered balance more quickly.
D.Both the writer and the robot fell down.
【答案】24.B 25.C 26.C

根据“having both the robot and myself standing side by side and pushed over, in order to see who would recover their balance more quickly.”
根据“The result blew my mind. While I was struggling to keep my balance, the humanoid robot hardly moved, staying still in place.”
根据“While I was struggling to keep my balance, the humanoid robot hardly moved, staying still in place.”
C
The weather is getting hotter. You are thirsty after playing basketball or riding home from school. A cold drink may be just the thing. But be careful about what you are drinking. Something that looks cool may not be good for your health.
There are plenty of “energy drinks” on the market. Most of them have beautiful colours and cool names. The lists on them tell you they are helpful to your health. Sounds great!
But after a careful check, you may find that most energy drinks have lots of caffeine in them. These drinks are especially aimed at young people, students, busy people and sports players. Makers sometimes say their drinks make you better at sports and can keep you awake. But be careful not to drink too much.
Caffeine makes your heartbeat fast. Because of this, the International Olympic Committee has limited its use. Caffeine in most energy drinks is at least as strong as that in a cup of coffee or tea. Possible health dangers have something to do with energy drinks. Just one box of energy drinks can make you nervous, have difficulty sleeping and even cause heart problems. Scientists say that teenagers should be discouraged from taking drinks with a lot of caffeine in them.
27.The underlined word “discouraged” means “________”.
A.encouraged B.stopped C.helped D.disliked
28.The reasons why teenagers should not drink energy drinks DON’T include ________.
A.causing heart problems B.causing nervousness
C.making sleep difficult D.making you thirsty
29.Which of the following can be the best title of the passage?
A.What’s the Use of Energy Drinks? B.Who Can Drink Energy Drinks?
C.What’s That in Energy Drinks? D.Why Can’t We Buy Energy Drinks?
根据“Just one box of energy drinks can make you nervous, have difficulty sleeping and even cause heart problems.”
根据“Just one box of energy drinks can make you nervous, have difficulty sleeping and even cause heart problems.”
D
In Chinese schools, social practice activities like community service and museum visits have become common. However, people have different opinions about them.
Teachers and experts say these activities are useful. They help students learn things that are not taught in classrooms. For example, when students visit nursing homes, they learn to care for others. A school survey in Shanghai found that 80% of students said they became more responsible after these activities. Teachers also notice that students who join often work better in teams.
But some parents and students don’t agree. They say these activities sometimes waste time. Many happen on weekends, so students lose rest time. Some activities are not well planned. Students just take photos without really learning. “My son helped clean a park for three hours, but he didn’t understand why it was important,” said one parent.
Now, some schools are making changes. They let students choose activities they like. After each activity, teachers lead discussions to help students understand what they have learnt. Some schools also work with local museums to make visits more interesting.
Education experts say good social practice should be both useful and fun for students. When done right, it can help students connect book knowledge to real life.
30.The underlined word “responsible” in Paragraph 2 probably means “________”.
A.being good at sports B.being funny
C.being able to take care of things D.being quiet in class
31.What is the main idea of Paragraph 3?
A.Parents and students think some activities are not helpful.
B.Schools should stop all social practice activities.
C.Weekend activities are always boring.
D.Taking photos is the most important part.
32.What is the main purpose (意图) of the passage?
A.To tell students not to take part in school social practice activities.
B.To show different views about school social practice activities.
C.To describe some school social practice activities.
D.To compare different school social practice activities.
33.What can we learn from the passage?
A.All activities are perfect. B.Good activities are both useful and fun.
C.Schools should stop all activities. D.Only book learning matters.
【答案】30.C 31.A 32.B 33.B
30.根据第二段“they learn to care for others. ” 这里responsible和“care for others”对应,意思是有责任心、能照顾事物。
31.根据第三段开头“But some parents and students don’t agree. They say these activities sometimes waste time... Some activities are not well planned. Students just take photos without really learning.”
33.根据最后一段“Education experts say good social practice should be both useful and fun for students.”

C.The robot recovered balance more quickly.
D.Both the writer and the robot fell down.

AI Courses for Kids
Beijing has taught primary and middle school students about artificial intelligence (AI) because it can help develop AI knowledge and skills in its youngest minds.
Schools in Beijing will have at least 8 hours of AI classes every term. These classes can be taught on their own or together with other subjects like information technology (IT).
The way of teaching will be different for different school levels. Primary schools will have experiential courses (体验型课程) to let students know what AI is. Junior high schools will have cognitive courses (认知型课程) to help students use AI in their studies and daily life. Senior high schools will have practical courses to improve students’ ability to use AI.
“With the development of technology, our textbooks have been changing all the time,” said Shang Yin, an IT teacher from a Beijing middle school. “In the future, there will be more jobs where AI knowledge is required. Even in daily life, people may need to understand things like DeepSeek to make their work and life easier.”
AI courses are good for our study. First, learning about AI helps us understand how it works in smart phones or robots. It is not just magic, but science. Second, AI courses are fun. We can try to make simple AI programs or play games with AI. It makes learning interesting and creative. What’s more, AI is the future. If we learn it now, we can be ready for future jobs. It helps us become smarter and more competitive. In a word, AI courses are not only about technology, but also about our future. I really enjoy learning them.
34.How many hours of AI classes will schools in Beijing have every term?

Earlier this month, Unitree offered an update on their engineering, showcasing (展示) their humanoid robots walking down a boardwalk (木板道), making their way across uneven terrain (地形) and catching up with a human jogger. The company said that the latest robot was “the most agile” robot so far.
This development holds significant meaning. More importantly, Chinese robotics makers are mass-producing them and making them cheap for common consumers (消费者).
