Saying “I’m Sorry!”
Saying “I’m sorry!” is a way to show you feel sad about and ashamed (感到羞愧) of something that has been wrong. It can be hard to do, but it helps deal with problems among people.
When Should People Apologize?
Sometimes you do things you know you should not do. You might argue with a friend and say bad words to him or her. You might violate a rule at school or at home. When you know you have done something wrong, apologizing is the right thing to do.
▲
Sometimes when accidents happen, like stepping on someone’s toes by mistake, it’s important to say sorry. It shows you care about his or her feelings.
What If Someone Else Started Doing Something Wrong?
Imagine a classmate gives you an unpleasant nickname (绰号). You get mad and push him. You might think, “He starts it, so I don’t need to apologize.” But even if he is the first to do something wrong, you should still say sorry for pushing him. Two wrongs don’t make a right!
What If I Don’t Feel Sorry?
If you say “I’m sorry!” but don’t mean it, people can know. Maybe you are still feeling angry, so you do not want to apologize. Take some time to calm down and think about what happened. Later, when you’re ready, a formal apology can make things better. Even if the other person still feels angry, you’ll feel good because you do the right thing.
21. What example does the writer give to show when people should apologize?
A. You take your classmate’s eraser by mistake.
B. You return your friend’s pen late and break it.
C. You have an argument with your friend and say bad words to him or her.
D. You forget to keep your promise to help your friend with his or her homework.

C. What Are the Easy Ways to Apologize? D. What Present Should I Bring to Apologize?

A. You should never say sorry first.
B. Fighting back is always the best way.
C. Only one person can be wrong at a time.
D. Doing something bad back doesn’t solve the problems.
25. What’s the purpose of the text?
A. To describe how to make a formal apology. B. To tell when and how to say “I’m sorry!”.
C. To show how to solve problems with friends. D. To explain why people apologize for accidents.
C
You can talk to someone if you are worried, scared or don’t know what to do next. But how? Here are some suggestions.
Who should you talk to? Talk to someone you trust. They could be your parents, friends, teachers, or other people you trust. As long as you are comfortable and feel safe with them, you can talk to them. Also, they should be helpful. They can help make a plan to solve problems.
How should you talk about your feelings? First, find a quiet and private place to talk. If it’s hard to start talking, you can write something on the paper and give it to the person you talk to. ▲ . Try to give examples on the paper so that they can really understand what you are trying to tell them. Sometimes, asking whether they have the same problems makes it easier to talk.
What should you talk about? Tell the person as much as you can about what is troubling you. If it’s hard to talk about the problems, let the person know you’re having a hard time. They can help by asking questions and letting you answer. Try not to leave anything out, even if you think it might get someone in trouble.
Remember it’s better to get help than to feel bad about something. There might be more solutions to the problems than you can think of—it’s always better to have others help you out.
26. Why can you talk to your parents according to the passage?
A. Because they are always right.
B. Because you won’t argue with them.
C. Because they are experienced in life.
D. Because you feel comfortable and safe with them.

When you finally finish your homework and get to relax, what do you do? Do you lie on your bed and play with your phone? Many people find that this does not make them happy. Instead, they feel bored when they are on their phones.
Different from what many people may think, play isn’t just wasting time. It is important to play and relax meaningfully during one’s free time. Leisure (休闲) doesn’t improve quality of life unless one knows how to use it wisely. People use “leisure quotient (LQ玩智)” to describe one’s ability to relax and play meaningfully.
Psychological (心理的) research shows that people with high LQ scores feel happier and avoid spiritual illnesses. Meanwhile, Kenichi Ohmae, a Japanese management expert, points out that those who can play will succeed in the end. Instead of doing negative activities like watching short videos, people with high LQ scores actively choose what they are interested in and what they are good at. In this way, they have good control (控制) over their lives, know how to develop their talents (天赋) and keep a balanced lifestyle.
