学情分析
1. Senior 1 students have basic reading skills but lack ability in information sorting, professional vocabulary understanding and logical expression. Visual tools are needed to reduce difficulty.
2. Students in our school lack basic English learning awareness and they are not interested in English.

1. Play a short video about the Amazon rainforest.
2. Ask: What can you see? Where is it?
3. Lead in the topic: The Amazon rainforest:
a natural treasure.
1. Skimming (Para.1): Get the main idea: the Amazon rainforest balances Earth’s ecosystem.
2. Scanning (Para.2): Complete basic information: name, location, size, biodiversity.
3. Close reading (Para.3): Finish the mind map of forest layers: roots → leaf litter → tops of the tallest trees.
4. Close reading (Para.4): Complete the food chain: Leaves and fruit → Insects → Frogs → Jaguars; Microorganisms break down matters into nutrients.
5. Close reading (Para.5): Conclude importance: lungs of the planet; fix carbon; produce oxygen; species treasure.
1. Complete the summary to check key information.
2. Free talk: Discuss in groups: What should we do to protect the rainforest? (Use modal verbs: should / can / must)
3. Group presentation and feedback
1. Summarize: facts → structure → value → protection.
