Our trip to China felt like a fantasy movie.I had read comments (online about trips to China before, yet
our experience still surprised me.
Our first big surprise happened in Suzhou. Many people call Suzhou the“Venice(威尼斯)of the East,.”soI
pictured a small town with quiet canals ()As soon as we stepped out of the railway station,we were shocked
)Suzhou was so huge and moderu!Tall glass buildings stood beside old waterways and wooden boats. It
felt strange to see both a"village"and acity"in one place. This contrast made us look at the city with fresh eyes.
Later,we saw an even stronger contrast in Beijing. The hutongs showed the traditional side of the city. These
narrow alleys(小巷)were crowded and full of life.A short walk away,.modern skyscrapers(摩天大楼)rose into
the sky.People say many hutongs are disappearing each year. How lucky we were to visit
them!
After these surprises,we faced a problem:the language barrier()Simple words
like"toilet"or "passport"were not always understood.Translation apps became our closest
friends. They helped most of the time, though sometimes the results were funny.
Still,we met people who spoke English well in the most unexpected moments.A
stranger at the Summer Palace helped us during heavy rain.A young man in an Apple Store
in Shanghai sounded like a native speaker )Sometimes,we almost forgot we were
abroad. These moments showed a friendly side of China.
In the end, this trip gave us many stories to remember. We enjoyed every moment and we really can't wait to
go back to China.
34.What did the writer think Suzhou would be like?

A.They are disappearing year by year.
B.They are less famous than skyscrapers
C.The alleys showed the lively traditional life.
D.It is not easy to visit hutongs in modern Beijing.
36.What does the writer think of the whole journey?
A It was exciting but tiring.
B.It helped him see China in a new way.
C.It was fantastic but completely as hoped
D.It was difficult because of the language problem.
C
Do you have a"meal buddy"for trying out new hotpot places,or a"study buddy"
to help you focus at the library? In China, this trend has a special name:"Dazi."The
term, which means "buddy"or "partner,"has become popular among young people,
especially in busy cities. It describes a simple kind of friendship, where people
connect through shared interests.
So,why is everyone looking for a"dazi"?One of the main reasons is efficiency )"I used to cancel
trips because my friends were busy,"says Ye,a hiking lover."Now,with a'dazi,'everything is set from the
start. We meet at the starting point, share some snacks, and hike together. No extra coordination (is needed."
In addition,"dazi"culture helps young people manage their social (energy. They can enjoy being
with someone without a deep, heavy relationship. While traditional friendships are like gardening, requiring time
and care,a "dazi"comes with no pressure to stay in touch or solve each other's life problems.Partners enjoy the
第4页共8页
time together, and then simply return to their own lives.
However, some people worry that"dazi"culture might lead to the "MeDonaldization"of relationships. If
young people only look for"dazi,"they might forget how to build long-lasting deep friendships. Also, meeting
strangers can be unsafe.
Besides these worries, many young people still like dazi."It's not about replacing (best friends,"
explains Chen,a young woman working in Shenzhen."A buddy is more like a fellow traveler (on life's
journey..‘Dazi'brings simple joy without stress(压力)."To stay safe,,she always meets her“dazi”in public places
and tells her parents where she's going. For her and many others,a"dazi"is only a way to make a busy life a-little
more social and a lot more fun.
7.Ye prefers a hiking"dazi"to going with old friends because
A.a dazi may have more hiking experience
B.they can help organize the trip more easily
C.she doesn't need to match everyone's plan
D.it helps her save money on snacks and transportation
38.According to the article,the"McDonaldization"(Para.4)of relationship most likely refers to
A.popular and deep friendships
B.fast and casual friendships
C.making friends in restaurants
D.eating fast food with friends

this year,I found a new side of it.
It all started when my father suggested going for a drive.Without a plan,we set off for a little adventure.
As we drove out of Suzhou, the city's tall buildings slowly gave way to golden fields. After we drove further
for about three hours, small villages began to appear.
"We're in Ningbo now,"Dad said.Soon,we were driving up a winding mountain road near an old temple. At
first, there were only trees. But as we climbed higher,an amazing view opened up:a green lake shining under the
blue sky, with high mountains in the distance(在远处).
I was lost in the beauty of nature when I suddenly noticed a coffee shop on the roadside.A red national flag
was flying in the wind in front of the shop. The shop was full of fashionable young people. It turned out that we
were in a village. It wasn't quiet or old-fashioncd.Instead,I saw freshly-painted houses next to traditional

turbine(风力发电机)came into view.I stood under the blades(叶片)and watched them spinning(旋转)in the
wind.I looked further and saw rows of such turbines. The view was powerful beyond words.
