Matilda, a book lover, hates that.) Scene One One morning, just when Mr. Wormwood was setting off to cheat others again, Matilda walked into his room quietly to get the hat he wore each day to work. She was too short and had to get it with a walking-stick. Holding the hat in one hand and a bottle of superglue in the other, Matilda put some glue very carefully all round the inside rim (边) of the hat. Then she carefully put the hat back. Scene Two That evening, when Mr. Wormwood got home, he cried, “I can’t take my hat off and I have to keep it all day!” “Don’t be silly,” his wife said. “Come here. I’ll take it off for you.” “Ow-w-w! Don’t do that! Let go! You’ve nearly killed me!” he shouted. “What’s the matter?” Matilda was standing at the door with a book in her hand. Mr. Wormwood looked at her doubtfully, but said nothing. “It must be superglue. Haven’t I told you not to touch the dirty thing?” Mrs. Wormwood said. “I haven’t touched it!” Mr. Wormwood shouted. He turned and looked again at Matilda, who looked back at him with large innocent (无辜的) brown eyes. Scene Three Mr. Wormwood had to keep his hat on all through dinner. Later, he discovered that the worst thing about having the hat was not to take a shower in it, but to sleep in it. “I expect it will be loose (松动) by the morning and then it’ll be taken off easily,” Mrs. Wormwood said. Scene Four But the hat wasn’t loose by the morning. So Mrs. Wormwood cut the thing off his head, bit by bit, first the top and then the rim. At breakfast Matilda said to Mr. Wormwood, “You must try to get those bits off your head. They look like little brown insects. And people will think you’ve got lice (虱子).” “Be quiet!” Mr. Wormwood shouted. “Just keep your mouth shut!” All in all, it is a most satisfying exercise. But don’t get your hopes up that it has taught the cheater a good lesson. (Matilda borrows her friend’s parrot (鹦鹉) and…) 1.What did Matilda put inside Mr. Wormwood’s hat? A.Some hair. B.Some superglue. C.A book. D.A stick. 2.According to Scene Two, which word best describes Matilda? A.Creative. B.Friendly. C.Shy. D.Calm. 3.What can we infer from the text? A.The couple loved each other very much. B.Mrs. Wormwood really enjoyed cutting hair. C.Matilda would continue to punish the cheater. D.Mr. Wormwood wouldn’t cheat others any more. 4. Each picture above matches one scene. Which scene is missing? A.Scene One. B.Scene Two. C.Scene Three. D.Scene Four. 根据Scene One中“Holding the hat in one hand and a bottle of superglue in the other, Matilda put some glue very carefully all round the inside rim (边) of the hat.” 根据“One morning, just when Mr. Then she carefully put the hat back.”和“Matilda was standing at the door with a book in her hand. Mr. Wormwood looked at her doubtfully, but said nothing.… Mr. Wormwood shouted. He turned and looked again at Matilda, who looked back at him with large innocent (无辜的) brown eyes.” 根据文章最后一段“All in all, it is a most satisfying exercise. But don’t get your hopes up that it has taught the cheater a good lesson.” In 1960, a young English woman named Jane Goodall traveled to the forests of Africa to study chimps (黑猩猩). At that time, it was unusual for a woman to work in the wild, but Jane didn’t give up. She spent months patiently watching the chimps, slowly winning their trust. Through her years of study, Jane made several important discoveries. She found that chimps use tools, like using sticks to get termites (白蚁) from their nests (巢穴). This changed how scientists understand animals. She also learned that chimps have close family relationships and different personalities (个性), just like humans. Jane’s work taught the world to respect and protect wildlife. Later, she started the Roots & Shoots program to encourage young people around the world to care for the environment. “Every single person can make a difference,” she often said. Though over 80 years old, Jane still traveled around the world, spreading her belief of hope and protecting nature. Scene One Before going out, Marilla reminded her daughter Anne, “The raspberry cordial (树莓果汁) is on the kitchen table. Be careful and don’t take the wrong bottle.” “I won’t,” Anne answered. She wanted everything to be perfect for Diana. On the kitchen table stood a bottle filled with a bright red drink. It looked just like raspberry cordial, so Anne poured it into Diana’s glass without thinking twice. Diana drank one glass, then another. In no time, her face turned red. She began to laugh loudly and could hardly stand. Anne grew worried, but she still didn’t know what had gone wrong. Scene Two Not long after, Mrs Barry, Diana’s mother, learned what her daughter had drunk. She hurried to Green Gables, her face full of anger. “What drink did you give my daughter? That was not raspberry cordial!” she cried. Marilla checked the bottle. “It is currant wine (酒),” she said, totally amazed! Mrs Barry turned to Anne. “Diana is not allowed to come here again!” Anne stood there silently, feeling sorry and heartbroken. Scene Three Several days later, Diana ran into Green Gables. “Oh, Anne, do come quick! Minnie May is awfully sick. Father and Mother are away. I don’t know what to do!” Diana’s voice shook and tears rolled down her face. Anne didn’t waste a moment and went with her at once. Scene Four Remembering what she had learned while caring for sick children in hospital before, Anne stayed calm and worked patiently all night until a doctor finally arrived. Minnie May felt much better. The next day, Mrs Barry went to Green Gables with some fresh flowers for Anne. “Anne,” she smiled and said gently, “I’m truly sorry. I shouldn’t have kept you and Diana apart. I supposed you might hurt her, but now I realize you never would. If it’s all right with you, Diana may visit you again.” Anne said nothing, but her eyes shone softly. She had made a careless mistake, but from it she learned the true meaning of friendship. —Adapted from Anne of Green Gables 1.Why did Anne give Diana the wrong drink during tea time? The sea has always been both a place to make a living and a place of danger for them. Day in and day out, they sail on the dangerous sea, facing strong winds and big waves, hoping to return safely with a big catch every time they set out. Thus, they pray (祈祷) to Mazu, a kind sea goddess (女神), for protection. Mazu, known as the Goddess of the Sea in China and Southeast Asia, is believed to guard fishermen. Her story dates back to 960 A.D., when a baby girl named Lin Mo was born in a small fishing village on Meizhou Island, Fujian. Unlike others, she didn’t cry at birth, so she got the name “Mo”. Lin Mo was special from a young age. She was a smart girl who enjoyed reading books about the stars and the sea. And she spent a lot of time watching the sky and the sea. By doing this, she learned to understand the sea very well and could know when storms came, helping fishermen stay safe. People called her “the weather girl” and “the fishermen’s helper”. D.Celebrations of Mazu’s Birthday. 根据“Her story dates back to 960 A.D., when a baby girl named Lin Mo was born in a small fishing village on Meizhou Island, Fujian.” 故选A。 2. 根据“By doing this, she learned to understand the sea very well and could know when storms came, helping fishermen stay safe. People called her ‘the weather girl’” 可知,因为她可以辨别暴风雨什么时候来,从而帮助渔民避灾,所以被称为“气象姑娘”。故选B。 4. C。 One day in the hot summer, I noticed an old woman walking slowly with a walker when I was driving home. She carried two heavy bags that seemed to pull her down. Slowing down, I opened the window and called out, “Need a ride?” She nodded and smiled with thanks. “Bless you, child,” she said and got in. “I’m Ida,” she said. “I work at the supermarket but missed my bus today.” “Don’t worry—I’ll get you there,” I replied. I drove through streets I’d never seen before. The buildings grew older as we went. Finally, she pointed ahead. “That’s my home.” When we stopped, I saw some young men standing near the door. One with long hair and a hoodie (连帽卫衣) was looking at me with a strange smile that made me uncomfortable. I parked the car and helped Ida out. She thanked me again, then turned to the young men, asking them to carry her bags. Once she walked inside, I quickly drove away. Soon I heard a motorcycle (摩托车) behind me. To my surprise, it was the young man who just looked at me and smiled! He was waving for me to stop. I felt scared, so I reached for my wallet to take my cell phone out—I had to call 911. But my wallet wasn’t there! My heart sank (下沉). “Ida stole my wallet! So much for acts of kindness!” Suddenly, I noticed another wallet on the seat, but it wasn’t mine. Then I saw the man right outside my window, waving my wallet! I couldn’t believe my eyes. He rode up, holding out my wallet. “My grandma took yours by mistake,” he explained. “She’s very sorry and hopes you’re not angry.” He was still smiling. This time, his smile didn’t appear threatening (有威胁的), simply kind and warm. Sometimes, we judge a person’s character wrongly because they don’t fit what we think is right. They may not drive a nice car, live in the “good” part of town, or dress fashionably, but who can say they are not as good as or better than us? 1.How might Ida usually go home after work? A.She walks home.B.She rides a bike home.C.She takes a taxi home. D.She takes a bus home. 2.What can we infer from the text? A.Ida knew the writer would help her. A.Brave and quick to act. B.Careless and easy to forget. C.Helpful and willing to learn. D.Unfriendly and hard to please. 4.Each picture below shows a scene (场景) from the story. Which picture is unnecessary? A.B. 根据“I work at the supermarket but missed my bus today.” 根据“He rode up, holding out my wallet. ‘My grandma took yours by mistake,’ he explained.” 根据作者主动搭载陌生老人,以及文章结尾的反思“Sometimes, we judge a person’s character wrongly because they don’t fit what we think is right...” 根据“I noticed an old woman walking slowly with a walker” “I parked the car and helped Ida out.” “Soon I heard a motorcycle (摩托车) behind me.” A。 It all started after daddy waltzed off (扬长而去) and left us. Since then, mom, my little brother Toby and I had been living in our car. I pretended (假装) like nothing was wrong every morning, not caring about the mustard stain on my shirt and the fact that I’d washed my hair in a gas station bathroom. Life at school wasn’t any easier, either. When Mr. White asked me to read my volcano (火山) report, everyone laughed—I’d made up all the facts because I had no Internet or library access. Then mom lost her cleaning job. It felt like every door around us was closing. That’s when I saw a sign that said: REWARD (报酬) $500. “Five hundred dollars! Who in the world would pay five hundred dollars for that little old dog?” I thought to myself. So I asked mom that night, “Would five hundred dollars be enough money to get us a place to live?” “I suppose so.” Mom sighed. Thinking about that $500 reward, an idea came to me. If people would pay so much to get their dog back, I could do this. I’d “steal” a dog from a rich family. Then I’d wait for them to put up a reward sign. After that, I’d “find” the dog and get the reward With the plan in my mind, I opened my notebook and wrote down the rules: give the dog food, water, and shelter; treat it well. I told myself I wasn’t really stealing—just “borrowing” a dog from someone rich enough not to miss it. And the money would get my family a real home. However, the next day, as I searched the neighborhood for the right dog, a tiny voice in my head kept whispering (低语), softer than the wind but impossible to ignore (忽视): “Georgina, don’t do this. This wasn’t the way.” —Adapted from Barbara O’Connor How to Steal a Dog 1.What is the right order of Georgina’s experience? a. Her mom lost her job. b. Her father left the family. c. She made up the volcano report. d. She made a plan to steal a dog. A.b-c-a-d. B.b-a-d-c. C.c-a-b-d. D.c-d-a-b. 2.What does the sentence “It felt like every door around us was closing.” in paragraph 2 suggest? A.Georgina and her family failed to get out of the car because of the closed door. B.Georgina and her family tried to ask others for help but they were all refused. C.Georgina and her family decided to move to a much better neighborhood soon. D.Georgina and her family were facing great difficulties in life and felt helpless. 3.How does Georgina’s feeling of hope change according to the passage? A. B. C. D. 4.In paragraph 5, what does the tiny voice in Georgina’s head show? A.The difficulty to tell her classmates about her family’s situation. B.The hard choice between the right values and her family’s need. C.The possibility for little Toby to keep her whole plan as a secret. D.The strong wish to leave school to help her mom make money. 根据文章第1段“It all started after daddy waltzed off and left us.”可知,首先是父亲离家,对应b;根据文章第2段“When Mr. White asked me to read my volcano report, everyone laughed—I’d made up all the facts”可知,接着是她编造火山报告,对应c;根据文章第2段“Then mom lost her cleaning job.”可知,然后是母亲失去工作对应a;根据文章第3段“Thinking about that $500 reward, an idea came to me…I’d ‘steal’ a dog from a rich family.” 故选A。 2. 根据文章第1段“I pretended like nothing was wrong every morning”、第2段“It felt like every door around us was closing.”可知,Georgina最初面对困境假装无事,后因生活接连受挫感到绝望;根据文章第3段“Five hundred dollars!…”“Thinking about that $500 reward, an idea came to me.”可知,看到悬赏金后她萌生计划,重新燃起希望;根据文章第5段“a tiny voice in my head kept whispering… ‘Georgina, don’t do this. This wasn’t the way.’” 根据文章第4段“I told myself I wasn’t really stealing—just ‘borrowing’ a dog from someone rich enough not to miss it. And the money would get my family a real home.”和第5段“a tiny voice in my head kept whispering…‘Georgina, don’t do this. This wasn’t the way.’” B。 Inside the hall, the door was shut and the key was on the glass stand. Poor Alice was only about one foot tall after taking some drink. She found a cake on the floor, went up and ate it all quickly. “How strange! How tall I am now!” Alice said. She looked down at her feet—they seemed so far away. In fact, she was over nine feet tall now, which meant she still couldn’t get through the door. She sat down and cried hard until a big pool of tears formed around her. Suddenly, she heard footsteps nearby. It was the Rabbit coming back, holding a fan in his hand. Alice really needed help, so when he came close, she called out, “Excuse me, sir…” The Rabbit jumped in surprise, dropped the fan and ran away. Alice picked up the fan and as the hall was hot, she fanned herself. “Dear, dear! How strange all things are today! I do wish to get out of the hall! ________ ” she said. Then she noticed herself in the glass—she was now no more than two feet tall and still shrinking very fast. That was the fan! She realized this and dropped the fan at once, or she would shrink to the size of an ant soon. Alice was in a sad fear at the quick change. “Things are getting worse,” the poor girl said. “I was never so small as this. How can I get out?” As she said, she lost her footsteps and was up to her chin (下巴) in salt water—her own tears. Just then, Alice saw a mouse swimming toward her. “Maybe talking to this mouse will help? Everything is so strange here. I think it might be able to talk. At least it can’t hurt to try.” So she swam over to it. ——Adapted from Alice in Wonderland 1.What did the Rabbit do when Alice called out to him? A.He gave Alice a fan and stood there. B.He jumped in surprise, dropped the fan and ran away. C.He helped Alice find a way to get out of the hall. D.He told Alice how to control her height. 2.Which sentence should go in the empty box in Paragraph 4? A.It’s bad to take his fan! B.I want to grow taller! C.I like the Rabbit so much! D.I am tired of this place! 3.What does the underlined word “shrinking” in Paragraph 5 mean? A.Becoming heavier. B.Becoming lighter. C.Becoming larger. D.Becoming smaller. 4.What can we know about Alice from the story? A.She felt sorry for what she did. B.She would not ask others for help. C.She was trying to get out of trouble. D.She knew clearly what would happen to her. 根据“The Rabbit jumped in surprise, dropped the fan and ran away.” 根据“I do wish to get out of the hall!” 根据“Then she noticed herself in the glass—she was now no more than two feet tall and still shrinking very fast.”以及“she would shrink to the size of an ant soon” 可知,爱丽丝的身高从九英尺多变成了不到两英尺,甚至快变成蚂蚁大小了,说明她的身体正在变小。故选D。 4. 根据“Alice really needed help, so when he came close, she called out, ‘Excuse me, sir…’”可知,她主动向兔子求助;根据“She realized this and dropped the fan at once, or she would shrink to the size of an ant soon.”可知,她扔掉扇子是为了自救;根据“Maybe talking to this mouse will help?” C。 Scene 1 “Shi, stop singing to the flowers! You have a visitor,” Shi’s little sister Mui-Mui called. Shi stopped in the middle of the song and said sorry to the flowers. The sweet flowers and green leaves moved lightly as he hurried to the house. He saw a well-dressed stranger there. Shi bowed politely. “The emperor has heard of your gardening skills. He has sent seeds (种子) to one hundred of the best gardeners in China, including some others from your village. Here is yours. Take care of it and bring it to the palace (皇宫) in one year,” said the man. He dropped a small black seed into Shi’s hand. Then he bowed and left. “What an honor,” Shi said, with his eyes wide open. Scene 2 Shi planted the special seed in his best pot. “Hello, little one,” he said in a soft quiet voice.” Our home is not as fine as the palace, but I hope you like it here.” After a month, no green sprout (芽) had pushed through the soil. “Little one, what’s wrong? Do you miss your home?” Shi sang as he watered it, taking care not to pour too much water. Months later, Mui-Mui stared into the pot. “That seed is ill,” she said. Shi took the pot from her. “Don’t worry, little one. You take your time,” Shi said to it. He moved the pot to the cool shade and began to sing. Scene 3 But the seed did not grow. Shi took the bucket back. “It is my duty.” “Shi, take one of your own plants to the emperor. He won’t know it didn’t come from that seed,” Mui-Mui said. “No. Even if he did not know, I would.” “This is a silly contest! You are worried sick about that seed. It was nice and bright. Slowly and carefully, Soapy picked up a big stone and threw it at the window. The glass broke with a loud noise. People came running around the corner. A policeman was the first among them. Soapy stood still (不动地), and he smiled when he saw the policeman. “Where’s the man that did that?” asked the policeman. “Don’t you think that I might have done it?” said Soapy. He was friendly and happy. What he wanted was coming towards him. But the policeman’s mind would not consider Soapy. Men who break windows do not stop there to talk to policemen. They run away as fast as they can. The policeman saw a man further along the street, running. He ran after him. And Soapy, sick at heart, walked slowly away. He had failed two times. Across the street was another restaurant. It was not so fine as the first one. The people who went there were not so rich. Its food was not so good. Into this Soapy took his old shoes and his worn-out (破旧的) clothes, and no one stopped him. He sat down at a table and enjoyed his meal. Then he looked up at the waiter, smiled and said, “I haven’t got any money, you know. Now, call a policeman. And do it quickly. I’m tired.” “No policeman for you,” said the waiter. “Hey, Jo!” Another waiter came, and together they threw Soapy out into the cold street. Soapy lay there, very angry. He stood up slowly, one part at a time, and beat the dust (灰尘) from his clothes. Prison seemed only a happy dream. Blackwell’s Island seemed very far away. Soapy was very unhappy. Before I was eight, I had met witches (女巫) twice. I’m just alive here to tell the story because of my wonderful Norwegian grandmother who knows all about witches. My parents and I lived in England for my father’s work. Just after my seventh birthday, my world broke down. During a visit to Norway, our car lost control on an icy road. My parents were killed, leaving me alone to live with my grandmother. To help us forget our sadness, she told me stories. But the stories that fascinated and frightened me the most were about witches. She told me these were not fairy tales—they were all true and witches were still here, hidden among us. One evening before bed, through the windows I could see snow falling slowly down. My grandmother was old with a wide body and wore a grey dress that covered her completely. I sat at her feet. “Grandma, can you tell me something about witches?” I asked. “Witches look like normal-looking women. Let me tell you five strange stories about children who met witches. The first child I knew who disappeared,” she said, “was called Ranghild, and she was led away by a tall lady in white gloves and disappeared forever.” “What happened to the second disappearing kid?” I asked. “There was a family who had an old farmyard oil-painting which they were very proud of. The girl called Solveg came home from school eating an apple from a nice lady. The next morning, little Solveg was not in her bed. Her parents searched everywhere and then suddenly her father shouted, “There she is! He was pointing at the oil-painting with Solveg being part of it in the act of throwing bread to the ducks.” “How amazing it is! What about the other three?” Although I was very young, I was not prepared to believe everything my grandmother told me. Yet my grandmother spoke with such seriousness that I began to reflect. “Now it’s time for bed, sweetheart. Maybe we can talk about ways to deal with them later.” She said. “A witch won’t come through my window, will she?” I asked, “No,” she said with certainty. “You are safe in your bed.” Yet, lying in the dark, the line between the fairy tale and reality seemed to disappear, leaving me in a state of uneasiness. —Adapted from The Witches 1.Why did Luke come to live with his grandmother? A.Because his parents sent him to Norway for school. B.Because his parents passed away in a car accident. C.Because he wanted to learn about witches from her. D.Because his grandmother was sick and needed help. 2.According to the passage, which words best describe Luke’s grandmother? A.Creative and honest. B.Loving and knowledgeable. C.Shy and serious. D.Energetic and courageous. 3.What can we infer from the text? A.Solveg became part of the oil-painting on the wall. B.Witches are easy to find because they look very common. C.Witches played a tricky role in Ranghild’s and Solveg’s stories. D.Luke doubted and disbelieved his grandmother’s witch stories at last. 4.What would Luke probably do the next day? A.He would pack up his bags and hurry to move back to England. B.He would write down all the stories in excitement to publish (出版) a novel. C.He would go outside to play in the snow and totally forget the witch stories. D.He would ask his grandmother to teach him how to find a witch for self-protection. 根据“our car lost control on an icy road. My parents were killed, leaving me alone to live with my grandmother.” 根据“To help us forget our sadness, she told me stories.”及“my wonderful Norwegian grandmother who knows all about witches.” 根据“‘The first child I knew who disappeared,’ she said, ‘was called Ranghild, and she was led away by a tall lady in white gloves and disappeared forever.’”及“There she is! He was pointing at the oil-painting with Solveg being part of it in the act of throwing bread to the ducks.” 根据“Maybe we can talk about ways to deal with them later.”及“A witch won’t come through my window, will she?” D。 Luckily, the horses accepted me as a superior (高等的) form of Yahoo (耶胡人) and began to treat me kindly. The first thing they did was to teach me their language. As you know by now, dear reader, I am very good at languages. I soon learnt enough words to communicate quite well and I understood we were in Houyhnhnm Land (慧骃国). The Houyhnhnms continued to be surprised at my wisdom and my clean and smart appearance. Many other Houyhnhnms came to visit me. All of them felt questioned because I was similar to the Yahoos. But I did my very best to show how different I was from these awful creatures. The first grey horse I saw became my master and teacher. Together, we had many interesting conversations. I told my master that the greatest ambition (野心) for all Yahoos was to have as much money as possible to buy bigger and better things. ▲ . As a result, most of the people lived a poor life while a few people had lots of money. You may think, dear reader, that my description of life in England and Europe was very unfair. But after living with the Houyhnhnms for some time, it became clearer to me how fair their society was. I felt I wanted to live in Houyhnhnm Land for the rest of my life. It was such a pleasant place. Over time I even began to copy the appearance of the Houyhnhnms and made myself shoes like theirs. I was happy to live with the Houyhnhnms for the rest of my life but unluckily everything changed on one terrible day. The Houyhnhnms didn’t think it was right that I lived like a Houyhnhnm. —Taken from Gulliver’s Travels 1.Why did many Houyhnhnms question me when they visited “I”? A.Because “I” could speak their language perfectly. B.Because “I” refused to wear shoes like the Houyhnhnms. C.Because “I” looked similar to Yahoos but acted differently. D.Because “I” told them unfair stories about England. 2.Which sentence can we put in the ▲ ? A.I also added that it was very difficult to get that much money honestly. B.However, my master could not understand the idea of money at all. C.This made my master very interested in human society. D.So we decided to talk about something more pleasant. 3.What is the correct order of what happened to “I” in the passage? a. I learned the language of Houyhnhnms. b. I had conversations with the grey horse. c. I decided to live there for the rest of my life. d. I was accepted by the horses. A.a-d-b-c B.d-a-b-c C.d-b-a-c D.a-b-d-c 4.How did “my” feelings change in the passage? A. B. C. D. 【答案】1.C 2.A 3.B 4.B 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文,节选自《格列佛游记》。 根据第二段“All of them felt questioned because I was similar to the Yahoos. But I did my very best to show how different I was from these awful creatures.” 根据上文“I told my master that the greatest ambition for all Yahoos was to have as much money as possible to buy bigger and better things.”和下文“As a result, most of the people lived a poor life while a few people had lots of money.” 故选A。 3. 按原文事件发生顺序梳理:根据第一段“Luckily, the horses accepted me as a superior form of Yahoo”可知,d“被慧骃接纳”排第一;根据第一段“The first thing they did was to teach me their language... I soon learnt enough words to communicate quite well”,a“学习慧骃语言”排第二;根据第三段“The first grey horse I saw became my master and teacher. Together, we had many interesting conversations.”可知,b“与灰马交流”排第三;再根据第四段“I felt I wanted to live in Houyhnhnm Land for the rest of my life.” 即d→a→b→c,对应选项B。故选B。 4. B。 One day in 1999, a Chinese man was having lunch in a US restaurant. We all agreed that moving to the countryside would be the perfect solution. ②After some searching, we found a home in Yucca, Arizona, a small town with a population of less than 1,000 people. However, when I called to ask about the condition of the house, I was surprised to know that there was no electricity available in the area. At first, I almost gave up the idea of living here, but then I realized that it was an excellent chance to go green. After careful consideration, we decided to move in on Thanksgiving Day. ③Living off the grid (电线) has been an important change for us over the past four months. D.How much do they miss city life? 根据“my family and I reached a decision to have a more environmentally-friendly lifestyle and a slower pace. We all agreed that moving to the countryside would be the perfect solution”可知,作者一家决定搬到乡村的核心原因是想要过更环保(绿色)、慢节奏的生活。故选B。 2. 根据“We have made changes such as taking shorter showers, and turning off the water while brushing our teeth”可知,作者一家搬家后做出的改变包括“刷牙时关掉水龙头”,也就意味着不再做“刷牙时让水一直流着”这件事。故选D。 3. 根据“Living off the grid (电线) has been an important change for us over the past four months... reusing daily objects instead of throwing them away”可知,脱离电网生活对我们是重大改变,先对比孩子从前把水电燃气视为理所当然,如今意识到节约的重要性,再具体列举“洗澡时间短、刷牙关水、回收利用、自己种菜、重复使用物品”等生活习惯的改变,因此作者是通过“展示改变”来展开第三段内容的。故选A。 4. B。 All day long the Swallow ( 燕子) flew. At night-time he arrived at the city and saw a statue (雕像) on the tall stone. So he flew down and settled just between the feet of the Happy Prince. Dr. Goodall passed away on October 1, 2025, but her spirit will live on forever through the millions of people she encouraged. 1.Where did Jane Goodall study chimps? A.In English zoos. B.In African forests. C.In American forests. D.In Asian mountains. 2.What did Jane discover about chimps? A.They use tools to get food. B.They build houses to live in. C.They can write simple words. D.They can speak human language. 3.Why did Jane start the Roots & Shoots program? A.To describe Africa’s wild animals. B.To show the way to study chimps. C.To teach young people about wild animals. D.To encourage young people to protect nature. 4.What is Jane’s idea according to the passage? A.Animals should live in zoos. B.Only scientists can protect nature. C.Every person can help the world. D.Studying animals is difficult work. (One October afternoon, Anne welcomed her best friend Diana to Green Gables for afternoon tea.) Scene One Before going out, Marilla reminded her daughter Anne, “The raspberry cordial (树莓果汁) is on the kitchen table. Alice was in a sad fear at the quick change. “Things are getting worse,” the poor girl said. “I was never so small as this. How can I get out?” As she said, she lost her footsteps and was up to her chin (下巴) in salt water—her own tears. Luckily, the horses accepted me as a superior (高等的) form of Yahoo (耶胡人) and began to treat me kindly.
