前文提到“excited(兴奋)”,后文出现转折词“However”,说明后文是与兴奋相反的负面经历,后文提到作者因身高被同学排挤、嘲笑,trouble(麻烦、困境)符合语境,program(项目)、surprise(惊喜)、happiness(快乐)均与后文的负面经历矛盾,逻辑不通。
weaker(更弱的)、shorter(更矮的,与文意相反)、stronger(更强壮的)均与“身高” 无关,不符合语境。
even(甚至)符合语境,still(仍然)、hardly(几乎不)、already(已经)均无法体现递进的负面行为,逻辑不通。
suddenly(突然地)、quickly(快速地)、angrily(生气地)均不能修饰“hurt”表示伤害的程度,不符合语境。
stand up(站起来)、make up(编造 / 化妆)、get up(起床)均与“安慰情绪低落的人”无关,不符合语境。
sunshine(阳光)符合语境。rain(雨)、wind(风)、storm(暴风雨)均与“温暖、驱散阴霾”的语境不符。
pay attention to(在意、注意)符合语境,“didn’t pay attention to it”表示“毫不在意”。look after(照顾)、take care of(照顾)、learn from(向……
words(话语)符合语境,对应前文Lily的鼓励之词,jokes(玩笑)、smiles(微笑)、hopes(希望)均无法直接对应前文的对话内容,不符合语境。
improved(提升、进步)符合语境,努力和关心让作者变得更好,prepared(准备)、invited(邀请)、fought(打架 / 奋斗)均无法体现“变得更好”的结果,不符合语境。
固定搭配“have problems with sth.” for、to、between均不与“have problems”构成此搭配。
thinking(思考)符合语境,“after thinking for a while”表示“思考了一会儿之后”,watching(观看)、reading(阅读)、hating(讨厌)均与“解题前的准备”无关,不符合语境。
red(红的)符合语境。blue(蓝的,常表悲伤)、dark(黑的)、green(绿的,常表嫉妒)均不符合语境。
that(引导宾语从句时无实际意义,不作成分)、which(哪一个)、this(不能引导从句)均不符合语法规则。
worried about(担心)、cared about(关心)、looked at(看)均与“不再被嘲笑”的语境不符。

后文提到他低着头说自己的烦恼,能看出他情绪低落,因此选expression(神情/表情),对应他难过的状态;standard(标准)、decision(决定)、secret(秘密)均无法搭配“sad”。
前文Granny提议“Let’s go for a walk”,Sam是“好奇的”,所以会跟着她去花园,因此选followed(跟随)。
后文直接引用了Granny的话“Do you see that flower?”,说明她是指向这株植物让Sam看,因此选pointed to(指向);stuck to(坚持)、belonged to(属于)、got used to(习惯)均不符合语境。
前文Granny说“赢不是唯一重要的事”,但Sam立刻反驳“But I want to be the best!”,说明他并没有完全认同,还是怀疑这个道理,因此选doubtful(怀疑的)符合语境。
前文Granny在开导Sam,后文Sam因此每天努力训练,说明Granny的行为是鼓励他坚持下去,因此选encouraged(鼓励);allowed(允许)、promised(承诺)、chose(选择)不符合语境。
前文说他在为跑步努力训练,合理的训练内容是学习正确的跑步方法/技巧,因此选proper(正确的/恰当的);stupid(愚蠢的)、empty(空的)、natural(自然的)不符合“训练技巧”的语境。
前文他一直在训练、准备比赛,比赛前的情绪通常是紧张又期待的,后文的“but hopeful(但满怀希望)”也能对应“紧张”的转折,因此选nervous(紧张的);proud(骄傲的)、sick(生病的)、angry(生气的)均不符合赛前状态。
前文提到他“ran very fast, pouring all his strength(全力奔跑)”,因此跑完后会呼吸急促、沉重,所以选heavily(沉重地);strictly(严格地)、hardly(几乎不)、politely(礼貌地)均无法描述跑步后的状态。
后文Granny告诉他“成功不只是冲线第一”,而Sam也理解了这个道理,因此即使没拿冠军,他也为自己的努力和进步感到满足,因此选satisfied(满足的);worried(担心的)、disappointed(失望的)、scared(害怕的)和后文的“thankful(感激的)”矛盾。
