One afternoon, an hour passed, but Alice still didn't return. Bob and his parents were in a panic. They searched every road and corner of the community, calling Alice's name loudly. The sun was setting, and their worries grew deeper. Just as they were about to call the police, a neighbor called, saying he had seen an old lady sitting quietly by the community gate, looking confused. They rushed over and found Alice, who was holding a crumpled leaf and murmuring, "I can't find my home." Tears filled Bob's eyes as he hugged his grandma tightly.、
Bob decided to create a special map for his grandma. He drew it carefully with colorful markers, marking their apartment building with a big red heart. He also drew simple pictures of familiar places, like the small garden where she liked to sit and the bakery that sold her favorite bread. Next to each picture, he wrote big clear words. When he gave it to Alice, he held her hand and said softly, "Grandma, with this map, you'll never get lost again." Alice smiled and held the map close to her chest, as if it were a precious treasure.

I live in Xizhou in Yunnan Province,on the historic Tea Horse Road.I have to admit that
when I first heard that Paul Salopek was going to walk the entire globe on his own two feet,I
was blown away.I couldn't imagine that there could be such an unusual person in the world.
Last May,I met Paul.He told me that it was his first time in China. He talked to me with
great excitement about the history, migrations, and discoveries in my region of China. He spoke
of the Shu Yandu Dao (the Southern Silk Road),the travels of the 17th-century Chinese explorer
Xu Xiake, the Tea Horse Road and the early 20th-century American botanist Joseph Rock.He
also talked of Xuanzang.Paul considered many of them heroes and in a sense Chinese pioneers
of slow journalism.
I decided to accompany Paul on his walk toward Yunnan. On September 28,2021,we set
out.Our days were simple:walk, eat, sleep, and repeat. We woke up at sunrise, set off in high
spirits, and rested at sunset, dragging ourselves into exhausted sleep.
We met many people on the road.Some were curious,surrounding us and watching us;
some gave us directions;some invited us into their home to take a rest;some spoke of the charm
of their hometown. We met many beautiful souls, simple souls and warm souls. We were
walking with our minds.
Together,we were impressed by the biodiversity of the Gaoligong Mountains. As I walked
on ancient paths through mountains,I seemed to hear the antique voices of past travelers urging
me to be careful on the road.
Looking back on the more than 200 miles I walked with Paul,I came to a realization.
Walking for its own sake, while healthy and admirable,is only a small part of the benefit of
moving with our feet.A deeper reward is rediscovering the world around us,shortening the
distance between each other, and sharing each other's cultures.
4.How did the writer first respond to Paul's travel plan?
A.Annoyed
B.Surprised.
C.Confused.
D.Pleased
25.What can we learn about Paul Salopek from Paragraph 2?
A.Ile was a western journalist.
B He came to China several times.
C.He had a knowledge of China
D.He was Joseph Rock's acquaintance
5.What does Paragraph 4 tell us about the writer and Paul?
A They honored the ancestors.
D.They set off in high spirits.
C.They satisfied the locals'curiosity.
D.They built bonds with people.
7.'hat is the main purpose of the writer's writing the text?
A.To share and reflect on a journey.
B:To suggest a new way of travel.
C.To advocate protection of biodiversity.
D.To introduce and promote Chinese culture.

Inatoday's globalized world, plastic pollution has emerged as a major environmental
concern.Every year, over 400 million tons of plastic are produced worldwide, much of which is
designed for single use.The convenience of disposable packaging-for food, drinks, and
consumer goods-has led to an enormous increase in waste.Although plastics are lightweight
and flexible, these very properties make them difficult to collect and recycle efficiently.
The impact on the planet extends far beyond visual pollution. It is estimated that more than
8 million tons of plastic enter the oceans annually, affecting over 700 marine species.Seabirds,
turtles, and fish often mistake plastic for food, which may lead to injury'or death. Moreover,
plastic debris breaks down into micro-plastics-tiny particles that can be absorbed by marine
life and eventually enter the human food chain.Recent studies have detected micro-plastics in
tap water, air, and even human bodies, although the long-term health effects remain uncertain.
In response, governments and organizations have launched many initiatives. Some nations
have banned certain single-use plastics, such as straws or shopping bags.Others focus on
boosting recycling rates or offering incentives (to companies that use biodegradable
materials. However, these approaches face multiple hurdles.Recycling infrastructure is
inadequate in many regions, and biodegradable plastics require specific conditions to decompose,
which are not always available.
Experts stress the need for a combination of policy, technology, and individual action.Dr.
Anna Carter,a marine biologist, points out that education and public awareness play a powerful
role."When people understand the consequences of daily choices,"she says,"they are more
likely to reduce unnecessary packaging, select reusable products, and participate in local
clean-ups."Innovative companies are also investing in new materials-like plant-based plastics
-which promise to be more eco-friendly in the long run.
Ultimately, solving plastic pollution requires collaboration between governments, industries,
and citizens. While progress has been made, the challenge is ongoing.Dr.Carter insists,"Every
effort, big or small, can spark change. It starts with everyone."
28.Why is plastic pollution a major concern?
A.Plastic is cheap to produce.
B.Plastic products are convenient to use.
C.Plastic waste is increasing rapidly.D.Plastic is single-use and hard to recycle.
29.How does the author show the impact of plastic pollution?
A.By presenting experimental results.B.By presenting data and examples.
C.By analyzing survey reports.D.By quoting findings from experts
30.The underlined word "hurdles"in Paragraph 3 probably means
A.difficulties B.requirements
C.drawbacks
D.changes
31.What is the main purpose of the text?
A.To present expert views on solutions.
B.To highlight new materials for sustainability.
C.To raise awareness and call for action.
D.To report studies on plastic harm.

On April 19,2026,the 2026 Beijing Yizhuang Half Marathon Humanoid Robot Half
Marathon kicked off and concluded at the Beijing Economic and Technological Development
Zone.Over 100 robot teams competed alongside 12,000 human runners,creating a unique
"human-robot joint run"scene.
The "Lightning"robot from the Shenzhen Glory Sun Wukong Team won the championship
with a net time of 50 minutes and 26 seconds.Surprisingly, this time even broke the human
world record for the men's half marathon.
The race started at Kechuang 17th Street and ended at the South Gate of Nanhizi Park,
covering a total distance of 21.0975 kilometers. The track featured more than ten types of
complex terrain,including flat ground,slopes,and nearly 90-degree turns.It posed a severe test
for the robots'environmental perception,dynamic balance,and endurance capabilities.
Over 100 humanoid robots started the race in a line, with a 30-second interval between each
pair. They competed in two groups:autonomous navigation and remote control. The results were
timed separately.Remote control group results were weighted by a factor of 1.2,while only four
scenarios in the autonomous navigation group allowed human intervention. This fully
highlighted the technical orientation of the event.
The "Lightning"robot stood out with its long-legged design and efficient liquid-cooled heat
dissipation system. It maintained a stable and high speed throughout the race, with an
instantaneous speed reaching 5.64 meters per second. The Thunder Lightning Team and Spark
Team won the second and third places, with finish times of 50 minutes and 56 seconds, and 53
minutes and 1 second respectively. The Glory Team swept the top three, showing their strong
technical strength.
Focusing on "promoting industrial development through competitions",the event

Beat the heat-How to stay cool when temperatures soar
Maybe you're one of those people who peel off a sweater when everyone else is
complaining that it's chilly.36 The point is,there's no single temperature that can be
pinpointed(明确指出)as comfortable for everyone.
"What temperature people start to become uncomfortable at is really individual and
variable,"says S.Tony Wolf,PhD,assistant professor at the University of Georgia.37 It
also relies on things like humidity and air flow.Plus, combinations of factors unique to
individuals-age,gender,body mass,medical conditions and medications-affect how we
experience temperature. And fortunately, there are many things we can do to stay comfortable in
spite of the heat.
38."Sweating is how we regulate heat,"says Robert Kenefick,PhD,professor at the
University ot Massachusetts."Drinking plain, cool water or fluids with electrolytes (like sports
drinks)helps.”
Choose clothing that's right-light fabrics,light colors-and loose.Loose clothing
allows for better airflow and helps keep you cool.39
Keep windows covered with shades, blinds or curtains.Think of how a car with closed
windows heats up when left sitting in sunlight-it's called the greenhouse effect. The same
thing can happen at home if uncovered windows trap sunlight and heat inside.
Keep a spray bottle handy.Spraying yourself with cool or cold water and then sitting or
standing near a fan can help your body evaporate(蒸发)sweat and dissipate(诮散)heat through
your skin.40"The more of your body surface areas that you cool, the better off you're
going to be,"says Wolf.
A Drink plenty of water.
B.If you are really hot, take a cold bath or shower.
C.Use fans to keep the air constantly flowing indoors.
D.Go out earlier in the day when it's cooler or later at night.
E.But workout clothing made from new fabrics is also a good choice.
F In fact, our perception of heat and cold doesn't just depend on the temperature.
G.Or maybe you're the person who's putting on a sweater when others say it's too hot.

Bob's grandma,Alice, lived with him and his parents in the biggest community in their city.
The community had more than 30 apartment buildings, with crisscrossing roads and
similar-looking houses. If you didn't live there for long,it was really hard to find a specific
building.Luckily,Allce had moved there three years before,so she was quite familiar with the
environment and could walk around freely.
One noon,Bob found his grandma busy cleaning the house. She was sweeping the floor
carefully, even though the floor was already spotless.Bob felt a little strange, because he clearly
remembered that his grandma had cleaned every comner of the house that morning before he
went to school. He walked over and said,"Grandma, you cleaned the house this morning. You
don't need to do it again."Alice stopped for a moment, looked at Bob in confusion, and then
said slowly,,“DidI?I forgot it completely.”
Bob's heart sank.He had heard from his teacher that forgetting things easily might be a sign
of dementia ()He didn't dare to think too much, but he paid more attention to his grandma
after that. The next day,Bob told his parents about his worry. They were so anxious that they
decided to take Alice to the hospital at once. After a careful examination, the doctor confirmed
Bob's guess-Alice really had dementia. The doctor also warned them that staying at home all
the time would make her condition worse.
In order to help Alice get better, the family made a plan:Alice would go for a walk in the
community every afternoon. At first,Bob or his parents would accompany her,but soon Alice
insisted on going alone, saying she knew the community well.To their relief,Alice could always
come back on time within half an hour. However, this just lasted for two weeks.
