As a result, many sharks are caught and killed. According to reports, sharks are being killed at an shocking rate of up to 273 million worldwide every year. Some experts predict that if the killing continues at the present rate, many shark species will be lost forever. It can be very dangerous. Sharks are very important and they should be protected. In a study of the east coast of the United States, 11 species of sharks died out. Of the 14 species of ocean life that those sharks used to eat, the populations of 12 species exploded and caused great damage to the ecosystem. For example, the cownose ray (鳐) population was no longer kept under control by sharks and so grew out of control. As a result, the rays destroyed the population of bay scallops (扇贝), their favorite food. The scallop fishery, which had been in good condition for over 100 years, was destroyed completely. Also, the removal of the scallops most likely had an effect on water quality as they were no longer there to clean the water. Sharks tend to eat very efficiently (高效地), going after the old, sick, or slower fish in a population, keeping that population healthy. Sharks help keep many populations of ocean life to the right size so that those prey (猎物) species don’t do harm to the ecosystem by becoming too populated. The ocean ecosystem is made up of very complex (复杂地) food webs. For the most part, sharks are at the top of these webs and are considered by scientists to be “keystone” species, meaning that removing them may cause the whole structure to fall apart. Therefore, we should protect sharks because doing so is to protect the whole ecosystem. 24. Why are so many Sharks killed in Asia? A. They are dangerous. B. They are threats to other species. C. They caused great damage to the ecosystem. D. The body parts that are considered valuable are in great need. 25. What did the disappearance of sharks bring about? A. Loss of money. B. Improvement of water quality. C. Damage to local ecology. D. An increase in the variety of animals. 26. In which part of the newspaper can you see such a passage? A. Nature. B. Life. C. Sports. D. Economy. 27. What is the text mainly about? A. Illegal hunting of sharks. B. The living habits of sharks. C. Wildlife protection in the United States. D. The reasons why humans should protect sharks. C Ruth Bader Ginsburg spent her life fighting for women to be treated equally. In doing so, she became an inspiring role model for women and girls around the world. Her passion for women’s rights began when she was young. She started off her adult life having trouble finding a job. Even though she was smart, determined, and capable of doing the job, she was passed over primarily because she is a woman. She felt like she was being treated unfairly, or discriminate d against, only because she is a woman. She wanted to do something about it. But at the time there were no laws in the United States to protect her. She decided to devote her career to being a lawyer and fighting for equal rights of women. Then, early in her legal career, when she was 29 years old, Ms. Ginsburg took a trip to Sweden to perform legal research. What she saw really focused her on fighting for women in the workplace. Seeing the progress women had made in Sweden convinced her even more that America was behind and wrong in its treatment of women. Back in the USA, laws advocating for women’s rights were missing. She decided that she would help invent laws, write them, and defend them. Ginsburg would also become a professor to help other women to become lawyers so that they could do the same thing. And then, in 1993, after years’ practicing and teaching laws, she became only the 2nd female justice of the Supreme Court. As a generally quiet person, Ms. Ginsburg’s power came from her focus, her determination, and her integrity (诚实正直). She went on to become an inspiring role model for girls and women around the world and one of the most respected justices in history. She changed the lives of many women and girls in the United States and beyond. 28. Why did Ruth fail to get a job? A. She was not an adult. B. Women can not work by law. C. She did something illegal. D. She was treated unfairly. 29. What did Ruth do to fight for equal rights of women? A. She performed legal research in Sweden. B. She escaped from her motherland. C. She consulted lawyers of Sweden. D. She fought with the USA government. 30. Which one can be used to describe Ruth? A. Optimistic. B. Selfless. C. Generous. D. Determined. 31. What is the best title for the text? A. Sweden — A Birthplace of Famous Lawyers B. Ruth — A Supreme Fighter of Women’s Rights C. A Famous Justice — A Pioneer of Americans’ Rights D. The USA — A Country Fighting with Discrimination D Pablo Picasso was an artist who worked in early part of the 20th century. Recently it was discovered that underneath his masterpiece, The Blue Room, there is another painting. Four major art collecting institutions worked together for five years to prove the existence of the second painting, which they had long suspected. The first clue that there were two paintings on the same canvas, was the unusual brush strokes on The Blue Room. The brush strokes didn’t quite match the painting on The Blue Room. To identify the second painting, the artwork was set up in front of special cameras called infrared cameras. Those cameras showed that there was something underneath the main painting. Then using other high-tech equipment, the scientists were able to see through the first painting to one of a bearded man in a bowtie, sitting in a chair, leaning on his hand. It was an exciting discovery. Now, people are asking many questions about the painting that Picasso covered up. Everyone wants to know who the man in the bowtie is, and why Picasso painted him. The bowtie painting was likely completed shortly before The Blue Room painting was. Pablo Picasso was a very prolific painter. That means he painted a lot. In order to save money, he often wouldn’t buy new canvases for his ideas. Instead, he would simply paint over some of his other paintings. Experts believe they will discover many more secondary paintings under Picasso’s masterpieces because today’s technology is so much more effective for this kind of work. 32. What is special about Picasso’s The Blue Room? A. Another painting is underneath. B. It was made of two parts. C. It was a copy by another artist. D. It portrays a man in a bowtie. 33. How did the scientists make their discovery? A. By high-tech means. B. By scientific experiments. C. By analyzing Picasso’s style. D. By careful observation. 34. What might be Picasso’s reason for doing that? A. To play jokes on a friend. B. To hide a secret. C. To save money. D. To show his skills. 35. What might be experts’ idea? A. More efforts are needed in future. B. It will not be their only discovery. C. Modern technology is incredible. D. The Blue Room will be worth more. For a bird, to fly hundreds or thousands of miles each spring and fall is a difficult and dangerous journey, one that not all birds can survive. 36. __________ There is more than one single reason for different birds to migrate (迁徙), but it all comes down to survival. Whether it was my classmates, teachers, or family members, I went out of my way to make them happy. I would agree to do things I didn’t really want to do, like lending my favorite books that I was still reading to classmates who asked, or sacrificing my own study time to help others with their homework. One day, my classmate Lily asked me to help her with a difficult math project. The project was due in a week, and it was going to take up a lot of my time. I had my own study plans and a big English test was around the corner, but I couldn’t bring myself to say no. So, I started spending hours every day helping Lily. We worked on the math problems, did research, and prepared the presentation together. As the days passed, I was getting more and more stressed. I was constantly tired from staying up late to study for my English test after helping Lily. On the day of the English test, I was so sleepy and unfocused that I made a lot of silly mistakes. When the results came out, I got a much lower grade than I had expected. I was devastated (崩溃的). Lily, on the other hand, got a great grade on the math project and was very happy. She thanked me, but I didn’t feel the slightest bit of joy. Instead, I felt a sense of resentment (怨恨) building up inside me. I realized that I had put my own needs aside for so long to please others, and it had finally had a negative effect on me. That evening, I sat in my room, thinking about what had happened. I was tired of always being the one to give in and sacrifice for others. I decided that things had to change. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题纸相应位置作答。 The next day at school, another classmate, Tom, came to me with a request. _________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ After firmly saying no to Tom, I felt a strange mix of nervousness and relief. ________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 参考答案及解析 第一部分 听力 1~5 CBABB 6~10 BCBAA 11~15 BBACC 16~20 CAACA 第二部分 阅读 21. The truth is that everyone will face great pressure when entering high school, so you don’t have to worry so much. Here are three tips. First, talk to someone you trust about how you feel. This is a good way of sharing your feelings and getting support. Second, go outdoors and play team games with your friends as physical exercise is an effective way to get rid of pressure. And third, work out a schedule and follow it. This way, you can make good use of your time. I hope you’ll find them useful. Yours, Li Hua 第二节 参考范文: Paragraph 1: The next day at school, another classmate, Tom, came to me with a request. He wanted me to join his group for a history project, which would require a significant amount of my free time. Just a few days ago, I would have immediately said yes without hesitation. But this time, looking at Tom’s expectant face, I summoned up my courage and said, “Tom, I really appreciate you asking me, but I have my own study schedule and personal things to take care of. I’m afraid I can’t join your group.” Tom looked a bit surprised. He tried to persuade me, saying that my ideas would be really helpful for the project. However, I stood my ground and politely declined again. Paragraph 2: After firmly saying no to Tom, I felt a strange mix of nervousness and relief. I was nervous because I was worried that Tom might be angry with me or that other classmates would think I was selfish. But at the same time, there was a huge sense of relief. I realized that it was okay to prioritize my own needs. To my surprise, a few days later, Tom came to me again. He said that although he was a bit disappointed at first, he understood my decision. He even thanked me for being honest with him. From then on, I continued to be true to myself. I still helped others when I could, but I no longer over-committed. 听力材料 Text 1 打算为同学举办生日派对 W: Does Peter know we’re having a surprise party for him when he turns 13 this week?
