A family’s quiet holiday at the Red Sea turned extraordinary when they found an octopus (章鱼) lying on the sand, weak and helpless. The sight stirred up kindness in the family. Acting quickly, they gently pushed the octopus back into the water.
It stayed still in the shallows (浅滩) for a moment, as though regaining its strength. Then, to everyone’s relief, it began to swim slowly back into the sea. What started as a simple day on the beach had turned into an unforgettable rescue, one that the family believed would end with it just disappearing into the waves.
But their story was beginning. The following morning, the family went for another walk along the same beach. To their surprise, they saw something jumping through the water. It was the same octopus. This time, it seemed to be looking for them. As the sea creature approached the shore, it swam alongside them in the shallow waves, almost as if it recognized them. Then, something unbelievable happened: the octopus repeatedly reached out and touched their feet.
The unusual behavior left the family stunned. It felt like the octopus had returned with a purpose — perhaps to say thank you. This meeting was a touching example of what many call octopus gratitude, a moment that left the family speechless and moved. The experience inspired them to make a small but meaningful promise — they would never eat octopus again. “It’s amazing how wise the animals are,” the family said after the experience.
The family left the beach with a greater appreciation for sea creatures and a newfound respect for animal wisdom. For them, the life-changing experience with an octopus showed that a simple rescue can create a lasting connection between humans and animals.

26. What does the underlined word “stunned” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. Disappointed. B. Astonished. C. Puzzled. D. Satisfied.
27. What is the main idea of the story?
A. The Red Sea is a suitable place for octopuses.
B. Octopuses are the wisest animals in the sea.
C. A rescued octopus shows surprising gratitude.
D. The family has learned how to protect sea creatures.
A 25. D 26. B 27. C

C
When you wake up, you may feel upset because you can’t remember the dreams you had last night. Artificial intelligence (AI) can help with this problem.
Before now, some AI models could turn text into pictures. They learned from both text and pictures. This time, scientists trained an AI system called Stable Diffusion to recreate images based on people’s brain scans (扫描).
The scientists used an online database from the University of Minnesota, the US, which was made up of brain scans from 4 people as they each viewed a set of 10,000 photos. The scans were recorded by functional magnetic resonance imaging (FMRI).
Then, the AI matched the brain activities by analyzing (分析) changes in blood flow (流动) shown by the FMRI data — when a part of the brain is activated, more blood will flow to it. It then matched the brain activities with the photos. Through this method, the AI system learned how people would react when they saw different pictures.
In the end, the scientists tested the AI system with more brain scans. The four people looked at photos of a toy bear, a plane, a clock and a train. When a person saw a plane, the AI system made a blurry (模糊的) picture of it using the brain scan data. Then, the AI used its text-to-image tool and the keyword “plane” to make the picture clearer. The final pictures were 80% correct.
Scientists said this new study found a new way to combine text and images to “read the brain”. In the future, they hope this technology can record people’s imagined thoughts and dreams. It can also help humans understand how animals see the world differently.
28. What’s the function of Stable Diffusion?
A. To help train people’s minds.
B. To fully show people’s dreams.
C. To draw pictures of people’s brains.
D. To produce pictures from people’s thoughts.
29. How did the AI system learn about human brain activity?
A. By studying blood flow in human brains.
B. By analyzing activities of human thoughts.
C. By recording brain scans from four people.
D. By examining 10,000 photos about brains.
30. What is paragraph 5 mainly about?
A. The final result of the AI experiment.
B. The testing process of the AI system.
C. The difficulty in recreating brain-images.
D. The advantage of combining text-to-image tools.
31. What does the author think of the future technology?
A. It will be beneficial for animal research.
B. It makes it challenging to read the brain.
C. It will be promoted all over the world.
D. It can be a tool to record animal behavior.
D 29. A 30. B 31. A

D
Festivals are meant for music, dancing, and celebration — not for leaving behind piles of rubbish. While this idea has long been a shared belief among festival-goers, the reality often tells a different story. Festivals like Coachella and Stagecoach produce about 214,000 pounds of waste a day, and only a fifth of it is recycled.
The carefree feeling at festivals — where people try to escape everyday duties — can sometimes lead to careless habits, like throwing things away without thinking. But this also gives us a chance to help people change how they act. If festival-goers learn to take responsibility for their impact on the environment while they’re there, they might keep those good habits when they return home. “That’s why we need festivals that show what a clean, waste-free event can look like,” says Heather White, founder of One Green Thing. “If people’s attitudes don’t change, even strong government rules won’t solve the problem.”
This idea finds its purest expression in Norway’s Oya Festival. As Norway’s largest outdoor music festival, Oya is recognized as Europe’s Greenest Festival. First, nearly all of the 22,000 attendees travel to the festival by public transport or bike, which removes the biggest source of pollution at most festivals-travel. Second, while UK festivals burn about 100 million gallons of diesel fuel every year, Oya runs almost entirely on clean energy. This is possible because more than 90% of Norway’s electricity comes from renewable sources like water and wind. Finally, to reduce plastic waste, Oya forbade single-use plastics in 2019. Nearly all food packaging is turned into a renewable fuel after the festival. About 60% of the festival’s total waste is recycled, which is about three times the rate at Coachella.
Oya proves that it’s possible to have fun while protecting the environment. But one green festival alone can’t fix the planet’s problems. Only when the whole music industry works together can we expect festivals with pure joy and no pollution.
32. Why are the two festivals mentioned in paragraph 1?
A. To compare their musical styles.
B. To show how fun festivals can be.
C. To introduce popular music events.
D. To give examples of wasteful festivals.
33. What’s important for green festivals, according to Heather White?
A. Government measures. B. Festival-goers’ feeling.
C. People’s attitude change. D. Careless environmental habits.
34. How does the author show the effectiveness of Oya’s measures?
A. By giving expert advice. B. By making comparisons.
C. By listing government rules. D. By telling an inspiring story.
35. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. Oya is the only green festival in Europe.
B. The music industry needs to join hands.
C. Pure joy is hard to achieve at music festivals.
D. Oya Festival has completely got rid of pollution.
D 33. C 34. B 35. B
根据第一段“Festivals are meant for music, dancing, and celebration — not for leaving behind piles of rubbish.(节日是为了音乐、舞蹈和庆祝而存在的,而不是为了留下成堆的垃圾。)”和“Festivals like Coachella and Stagecoach produce about 214,000 pounds of waste a day, and only a fifth of it is recycled.(像科切拉和Stagecoach这样的音乐节每天产生约21.4万磅的垃圾,其中只有五分之一被回收利用。)”
根据第二段“‘That’s why we need festivals that show what a clean, waste-free event can look like,’ says Heather White, founder of One Green Thing. ‘If people’s attitudes don’t change, even strong government rules won’t solve the problem’(‘这就是为什么我们需要展示一个干净、无浪费的活动是什么样的节日,’One Green Thing的创始人希瑟·怀特说。‘如果人们的态度不改变,即使强有力的政府规定也无法解决问题’)”可知,希瑟·怀特认为人们态度的改变对于绿色节日来说是最重要的
【34题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段“while UK festivals burn about 100 million gallons of diesel fuel every year, Oya runs almost entirely on clean energy(英国的音乐节每年消耗约1亿加仑柴油,而Oya几乎完全依靠清洁能源运行)”以及“About 60% of the festival’s total waste is recycled, which is about three times the rate at Coachella.(音乐节总垃圾的约60%被回收利用,大约是科切拉音乐节回收率的三倍。)”
根据最后一段“Only when the whole music industry works together can we expect festivals with pure joy and no pollution.(只有当整个音乐行业共同努力时,我们才能期待有纯粹的快乐和无污染的音乐节。)”

Sometimes he also allowed me to do the stirring.(我仔细留意他如何准备食材、切肉和蔬菜、煸炒香料,还时不时把所有食材翻炒混合。 和下文“However, there were also not so good kitchen moments.(然而,也有不太美好的厨房时刻。)” E选项“Those were the kitchen moments I loved the most.(那些是我最喜欢的厨房时光。)”

根据下文“However, I had to ask him or my brother to open the stove for me. Unlike many others who start with a simple fried egg or other fried food, my first dish was more advanced.(然而,我还是得让父亲或哥哥帮我打开燃气灶。很多人都是从简单的煎鸡蛋或其他油炸食物开始学做饭,而我的第一道菜难度要高得多。)”可知,下文讲述作者开始自己做饭的经历,空处需引出“独立做饭”这一转折事件。G选项“When I was 18, my dad finally allowed me to start cooking on my own.(18 岁时,父亲终于允许我独立做饭。)”
根据上文“Since I started cooking, it has become easy for me to even make up my own cookbooks and unique dishes.(自从我开始做饭后,哪怕是自编菜谱、独创菜品,对我来说也变得轻而易举。)”和下文“After several years of experience in the kitchen, I can now make almost any food that tastes familiar but shows my own cooking style.(经过多年的厨房实操历练,如今我几乎能做出所有家常菜式,口味熟悉经典,又兼具个人烹饪特色。)” D选项“I’ve made it like an art to express my creativity.(我把烹饪变成了一门表达创造力的艺术。)”

故填a。

When I started my first year of high school, I held a simple belief: only focus on things I was good at and work hard on them. I refused to waste time on things I wasn’t good at.
This idea worked well for me. I put great effort into my studies and piano practice, and finally reached my goals with excellent grades and awards. My friends joked about my way of thinking, but I believed it was the only right way to succeed.
At the start of my second year, I planned to keep doing the same. Then I joined the school’s cross-country team, one year after I watched cross-country races. I thought I was never able to do it. I joined mainly because my brother and many of my friends were on the team. They had been asking me to join them for months.
At my first practice, I hoped to become an outstanding runner. But as we ran longer each time, I found that no matter how hard I tried, I was among the slowest members. My muscles (肌肉) hurt so much that I could hardly stand it. Why did I have to suffer so much? I would never become a good runner. After several weeks, I wanted to give up.
Then came our first cross-country competition. When we arrived at Lamoille High School, seeing other teams warming up made me worried. I thought my coach and teammates would be unhappy with my performance and blame (责备) me. So I decided to leave the cross-country team after the race.

My teammates and I jogged to the starting line together.

Surprisingly, my coach and teammates were smiling and cheering for me, without any blame.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
My teammates and I jogged to the starting line together. As the whistle blew, we rushed forward at once. Soon, I fell far behind others, tired and breathless. My legs felt heavy and my heart beat wildly. Thinking of my previous failure in training, I almost lost hope. However, I kept telling myself not to quit and insisted on moving step by step. With great pain and perseverance, I finally crossed the finish line last.
Surprisingly, my coach and teammates were smiling and cheering for me, without any blame. They praised me for sticking to the end instead of giving up halfway. At that moment, I realized success never only belongs to those who are talented. Facing weaknesses and challenging impossible things also matters a lot. I abandoned my old belief and decided to keep running. Gradually, I became stronger and learned to embrace challenges bravely in life.

The admission to the park is free. Dogs are allowed in the park, but they must be kept on a lead and under control at all times.

D. It approached the family and touched their feet.
26. What does the underlined word “stunned” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. Disappointed. B. Astonished. C. Puzzled. D. Satisfied.
