Working Out through Online Videos
Physical exercise is good for our mind, body and spirit. Today, working out through online videos is becoming very popular. Since the Internet is used, it’s very easy for us to do so. That means we can work out anytime anywhere.
One of my friends, Lin Fei, followed short workout videos to do daily exercise. “With live programs, I feel like working out with my friends, which encourages me to hold on to the last minute.” she said. Another friend of mine, Michael, told me that workout videos let him feel so comfortable. “I have a fear of working out at the gym (健身房) because I don’t like being watched by others. Working out at home makes working out much more enjoyable.” he said.
With their examples, I decided to give it a try. When I told my plan to my elder sister, a P.E. teacher, she reminded me that workout videos could be helpful but might still carry some problems.
“Without being with someone in person, you will be less willing (愿意的) to work out at your best. Working out at the gym allows you to have advice in real time and get pushed harder” my sister said to me. “Well, if you really want to have a try. First, choose proper programs or videos. That’s very important. And then ask your friends for advice. Their experiences can give you a good insight into what you can expect. Anyway, don’t be addicted (沉迷的) to it. You should try different ways to work out to be healthy.”
Following her suggestions, I finally followed an online workout program with personalized help that is held for three months. After the first period of training, I felt it very practical and helpful when I put in the right amount (量) of work along with a strong will. Compared with going to the gym, using online videos to work out is a much cheaper and time-saving choice. But it can be difficult sometimes when I’m too lazy or too busy to stick to it.
1.Which way to work out is becoming very popular today?
2.Why does Michael dislike working out at the gym?
3.What is the problem of working out without someone else in person?
4.How did the writer feel about his first period of training?
5.Would you like to follow online videos to work out? Why or why not?
【答案】1.Working out through online videos is becoming very popular today. 2.Because he doesn’t like being watched by others in the gym. 3.You will be less willing to work out at your best without someone in person. 4.He felt it very practical and helpful when he put in the right amount of work along with a strong will. 5.Yes, I would. Because it’s cheap and time-saving, and I can work out anytime and anywhere./No, I wouldn’t. Because it’s hard for me to stick to it alone, and I can’t get real-time advice like in the gym.
【导语】本文讲述了通过在线视频进行锻炼这一现象。
1.根据文章第一段第二句“Today, working out through online videos is becoming very popular.”,如今,通过在线视频进行锻炼正变得非常流行。可直接得出答案。
2.根据第二段Michael的话“I have a fear of working out at the gym because I don’t like being watched by others.”,害怕去健身房锻炼,因为不喜欢被别人盯着看。可得出答案。
3.根据作者姐姐(体育老师)在第四段的话“Without being with someone in person, you will be less willing to work out at your best. Working out at the gym allows you to have advice in real time and get pushed harder”,若没有他人当面陪同,你就不太愿意全力以赴地锻炼,而在健身房锻炼能让你获得实时指导,还能被督促更努力地训练。可总结得出答案。
4.根据最后一段“After the first period of training, I felt it very practical and helpful when I put in the right amount of work along with a strong will.”,在完成第一阶段的训练后,深切体会到:只要付出恰当的努力并秉持坚定的意志,这套训练方法就会非常实用且卓有成效。可直接得出答案。
5.本题为开放性问题,结合文章内容给出合理回答即可。

Working on a team is quite important. However, if people on your team are not good at communicating, you may often feel terrible. To create a strong team, communication is the most necessary part for both the leader and team members. The following are some helpful suggestions.
Listen to other people actively.
When someone is speaking to you, you should listen to him carefully (or attentively) and actively. If you’re not clear about something, you should ask him about it. In this way, you can get your answers to any questions before moving on.
Think about other people’s ideas carefully.
When someone tells you about his ideas, you should think about them carefully, no matter how silly they may seem. This shows you are interested in his ideas and makes him feel good.
Share your ideas with other people.
When you have a new idea, talk about it with your team members. This helps to get better ideas. Besides this, it also helps to improve your relationship between you and your team members.
Don’t criticize (批评) other people.
When someone on your team does something wrong, don’t criticize him. You can help him to find out reasons and then help him to deal with the problem. Criticizing your team members too often may make them keep away from you. As a result, you may feel lonely.

Do you know World Wetlands Day? It falls on February 2nd every year and we welcomed the 29th World Wetlands Day in 2025, with the theme Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future.
Wetlands are areas where water covers the soil or is present either at or near the surface of the soil for different periods during the year. They are really important for a large number of reasons that you might not realize.
Wetlands, along with oceans and forests, are known as the three main ecosystems of the earth. There are different types of wetlands. We have got things like rivers, ponds and lakes. And wetlands support different wildlife. As a matter of fact, 50% of the world’s plants and animals depend on wetlands.
Wetlands act like sponges, soaking up (吸收) water and also carbon (碳) from the air. The plants in wetlands soak up climate-changing gases as they grow. Then when the plants die, they sink into mud, catching carbon instead of letting it all return to the air. This can help reduce the greenhouse effect.
Wetlands also play an important role in the water cycle. They can store lots of water during heavy rainfall, reducing floods in downstream (下游的) areas. Then the water will flow back into rivers and streams slowly.
Unfortunately, we have actually lost nearly 90% of the wetlands in the last 100 years, three times faster than forests. Do you know why? It’s things like pollution, climate change and human activities. Wetlands are important to everything, and we need to take action to protect them.
1.What are the three main ecosystems of the earth?
2.What is Paragraph 4 mainly about?
3.How do wetlands help the water cycle during heavy rainfall?
4.Why have people lost most of the wetlands in the past century?
5.What might the writer talk about next?
【答案】1.Wetlands, oceans and forests. 2.Wetlands help reduce the greenhouse effect. 3.By storing lots of water during heavy rainfall. 4.Because of pollution, climate change and human activities. 5.The protection of wetlands.
【导语】本文介绍了湿地的定义、重要生态价值,指出湿地因污染、气候变化和人类活动大幅减少,呼吁人们保护湿地。
1.第3段第1句提到“Wetlands, along with oceans and forests, are known as the three main ecosystems of the earth.”直接提取原文信息即可,注意三个名词的顺序与原文一致。
2.第4段详细介绍了“Wetlands act like sponges, soaking up ( 吸收) water and also carbon (碳) from the air.”, “Then when the plants die, they sink into mud, catching carbon instead of letting it all returning to the air”。 用简洁的语言总结段落主旨,点明湿地的核心作用——减少温室效应。
3.第5段第2句提到“They can store lots of water during heavy rainfall, reducing floods in downstream areas.直接提取关键信息:store lots of water(储存大量水)、reducing floods in downstream areas(减少下游地区的洪水),完整回答湿地在水循环中的作用。
4.第6段提到“It’s things like pollution, climate change and human activities.”直接提取三个原因,用because of连接,符合问句的提问逻辑。
5.文章结尾句“Wetlands are important to everything, and we need to take action to protect them.”提出了“需要采取行动保护湿地”的呼吁,因此下文最可能围绕保护湿地的具体方法/措施展开。
Visiting museums or going on study tours is becoming very popular. Museums are now open for longer hours because so many people want to visit. Not only history and archaeology enthusiasts (考古学爱好者) but also many common people are visiting museums.
This shows people are interested in culture and travel, which is good for museums. But with more visitors, museums need to think of new ways to help people learn and enjoy their visit.
The Suzhou Museum did some things that other museums can learn from. They found out what visitors really want and made improvements to make their visit better.
Museums Can Be Part of Tourism
Museums can work with local attractions to improve the visitor experience. The Suzhou Museum found out many visitors were young and middle-aged women who use social media. So, they made a small book that tells about the museum and other fun places in Suzhou.
Using Technology
Museums can use computers and the internet to show things in a new way. Some museums offer virtual tours of their exhibits (虚拟展览), allowing people to explore from home. This is a cool way to learn about history without leaving your chair.
Learning Outside School
The Chinese government encourages students to visit museums to have a deeper understanding of history and culture. In schools, students can talk about history, take classes about old things, and help out at museums. In Jiangsu, some teachers are working with museums to make this happen.
Helping Older People
Museums can help older visitors by providing clear signs and easy-to-read information. The Suzhou Museum talked to them to find out what they like and how they can make their visit better.
In a word, only by understanding the real needs of the people can museums provide better cultural services.
1.Why are the museums open for longer hours?
2.How can museums show things in a new way?

In the digital era, our country’s Ministry of Education pays much attention to AI (artificial intelligence) education for primary and secondary school students across China. They have set up AI curriculums (课程) in different levels for them. In primary school, students can get a taste of basic AI knowledge and simple operations, like using basic AI tools. As for junior high school students, they should start to understand the principles (原理) and functions of AI more deeply and use it to solve problems in study and life. In senior high school, students are expected to carry out small-scale (范围) AI project designs and research, exploring the future of AI technology
The Ministry also encourages teachers to use AI in their daily teaching activities and regular assessments (评价). A new section related to AI will be added to the national smart educational platform (平台). In this way, excellent AI resources can be collected, making it easier for students around the country to share.

Whether yellow, red or white, the onion is a vegetable that you may not know well. The list of its uses in cooking is endless. People have used onions to add flavor (味道) to their foods for thousands of years. Besides onions’ great taste, they are very good for you. They have special chemicals (化学物质) that improve your ability to fight off sickness and you have fewer chances of getting a disease.
No matter how good onions are for you, it is difficult to cut an onion without your eyes filling with tears! When you cut into an onion, irritating (刺激性的) chemicals inside the onion will get into the air. They touch your whole eyes and cause pain. Your eyes make tears to wash away the chemicals and protect your eyes.
Luckily, cooks and scientists have discovered some ways to keep you from crying when you cut up onions:
· Cut the onion under running water. The water will wash away the chemicals before they can reach your eyes.
· Use a fan to blow air over the onion as you cut it. The air will blow the chemicals away from your eyes.
· Put the onion in a fridge for an hour before cutting. This helps make the chemicals in the onion move slowly, so they may not ever reach your eyes.
If you try out these good ideas and still cry while cutting onions, don’t worry. Scientists think if you cut more onions, your body will become more resilient to the onion’s chemicals. So the tears will not last long. If you think about how healthy onions are, you might even call those tears “happy tears”.

Fengxiang clay figurines are a well-known form of traditional Chinese folk art from Fengxiang County, Shaanxi Province. With a history of thousands of years—dating back to the Neolithic Age, these vivid and colorful sculptures are not only works of art but also an important symbol of Shaanxi’s rich culture, deeply loved by people both at home and abroad.
In the early days, local people used clay to make simple daily tools and objects for worship. As pottery-making skills continued to develop, the art of clay figurine-making slowly took shape. It finally reached its golden age during the Ming and Qing dynasties, becoming popular among common people and widely used in festivals, weddings and other important events to bring joy and good wishes.
Their production process is complex and needs great patience. First, artisans choose high-quality local clay. Next, they knead, pound and filter it to take out impurities (杂质). Then, they shape the clay into lively forms like tigers and historical characters by hand or simple tools. After that, the shaped clay goes through natural drying and high-temperature firing. Finally, the most important step—painting—is carried out, with bold, bright colors to create strong visual contrast.
These clay figurines carry deep cultural meanings. For example, tiger-shaped figurines are believed to drive off evil spirits and bring good luck to families. To protect this valuable traditional art, the local government has set up training centres to teach young people the making skills, while some young artisans are trying new things through mixing traditional styles with modern designs to attract more young people.
1.Where are Fengxiang clay figurines from?
2.When did Fengxiang clay figurines enter their golden age?

What does it mean to be human?
For centuries, people thought humans were above nature, not part of it. They believed only humans could make and use tools, and only we could communicate meaningfully. This idea remained unchallenged until Jane Goodall came along.
In 1957, 23-year-old Goodall had taught herself much about animals and dreamed of working with them. Three years later, with anthropologist (人类学家) Louis Leakey’s help, she went to Africa’s Gombe forest. There, she did what no researcher had done: instead of numbering chimpanzees (黑猩猩), she named them, seeing each as unique (独特的). She watched them closely for hours daily.
Soon, Goodall made surprising discoveries. A male chimp named David Greybeard broke a grass stem (梗) to catch insects, and others also used tools—once thought a human-only skill. She found chimps had rich communication and their own personalities: some kind, some tough, many both. These made people rethink humanity and drew other scientists to study apes. “Reading her books led me to the jungle,” said expert Catherine Crockford.
But Goodall didn’t stop at research. Forests disappeared fast, and hunters killed or hunted apes for trade and research. She knew studying wasn’t enough to protect them, so she traveled the world until late in life, sharing her story to make change.
In 1991, she started Roots & Shoots. Today, this youth program runs in over 60 countries, with millions of students trying to improve the world for humans, animals and our shared environment. Goodall is gone, but her voice lives on. As our planet warms and animals face danger, her message matters more than ever.
Remember: every day, you affect this planet. Think about how you act toward people, animals and the environment. Thousands of you will make a huge difference.

重难语篇练习
The aim of education or culture is merely the development of good taste in knowledge and good form in conduct. The cultured man or the ideal educated man is not necessarily one who is well-read or learned, but one who likes and dislikes the right things. To know what to love and what to hate is to have taste in knowledge.
Nothing is more annoying than to meet a person at a party whose mind is crammed full with historical dates and figures and who is extremely well-posted on current international affairs, but whose attitudes or points of view are all wrong. I have met such people. They do have great academic knowledge, but no good judgment or taste. Being knowledgeable is a mere matter of the cramming of facts or information while having good taste is a matter of artistic judgment. In speaking of a scholar, the Chinese generally distinguish between their scholarship, conduct and taste.
An educated man, therefore, is one who has the right loves and hatreds. This we call taste, and with taste comes charm. Now, to have taste requires a capacity for thinking things through to the bottom, the independence of judgment, and the unwillingness to be affected by any form of power. When a man is wrong, he is wrong, and there is no need for one to be impressed by a great name or by the number of books that he has read and we haven’t.
Taste, then, is closely associated with courage, as the Chinese always associated *dan* (“胆”) with *shi* (“识”). And courage or independence of judgment, as we know, is such a rare virtue among humankind. We see this intellectual courage or independence during the childhood of all thinkers and writers who in later life amount to anything. Such a person refuses to be impressed by a philosophic vogue or a fashionable theory, even though it is backed by the greatest name. This is taste in knowledge. No doubt such intellectual courage or independence of judgment requires a certain childish, naive confidence in oneself, but this self is the only thing that one can cling to, and the moment a student gives up his right of personal judgment, he is in for accepting all the dishonest and insincere of life.
1.What does the author say the aim of education or culture is?
2.What kind of person does the author find annoying at a party?
3.According to the author, what is the difference between being knowledgeable and having taste?
4.What qualities does the author say taste requires?
5.Why does the author associate taste with courage?
【答案】1.The aim of education or culture is merely the development of good taste in knowledge and good form in conduct. 2.Whose mind is crammed full with historical dates and figures and who is extremely well-posted on current affairs, but whose attitudes or points of view are all wrong. 3.Being knowledgeable means cramming facts or information, while having taste involves artistic judgment and knowing what to love and hate. 4.Taste requires a capacity for thinking things through to the bottom, the independence of judgment, and the unwillingness to be affected by any form of power. 5.Because courage or independence of judgment is a rare virtue that allows one to refuse to be impressed by philosophic vogue or great names.
【导语】本文是一篇议论文。作者论述了教育与文化的真正目的在于培养知识上的“鉴赏力”和行为上的“良好表现”,强调了独立判断力、勇气以及不盲从权威在个人成长中的重要性。
1.第一段首句明确给出了答案:“The aim of education or culture is merely the development of good taste in knowledge and good form in conduct.”。这直接定义了作者眼中教育与文化的核心目标。答案是原文直接信息,直接提取。
2.第二段第一句提到:“Nothing is more annoying than to meet a person…whose mind is crammed full with historical dates and figures…but whose attitudes or points of view are all wrong.”。其中“annoying”意为“恼人的”;“crammed full with”意为“塞满了”。这说明作者反感那种只有机械记忆而缺乏正确见解的人。答案是对原文信息的提取。
3.第二段第四句明确对比了二者的区别:“Being knowledgeable is a mere matter of the cramming of facts…while having good taste is a matter of artistic judgment.”。这直接指出了知识积累与艺术判断力(品味)之间的本质差异。
4.第三段第二句列举了鉴赏力所需的品质:“…to have taste requires a capacity for thinking things through to the bottom, the independence of judgment, and the unwillingness to be affected by any form of power.”。答案是原文信息的完整提取。
5.第四段提到:“Taste, then, is closely associated with courage…courage or independence of judgment…is such a rare virtue…”。文中进一步解释这种勇气能让人“refuses to be impressed by a philosophic vogue or a fashionable theory, even though it is backed by the greatest name”。这说明品味之所以与勇气相关,是因为独立判断需要抵制潮流和权威的罕见美德。

Since July 2026, a wave of “intangible cultural heritage (ICH) handcraft experience” has swept across China, especially among teenagers. Various ICH projects, such as traditional tie-dyeing, shadow puppet carving, and paper-cutting, have become hot topics on Douyin and Weibo. Museums and cultural centers have opened ICH workshops designed for young people, where students can learn from inheritors and create their own handcraft works.
These workshops offer rich hands-on experiences. In the tie-dyeing class, students fold and bind white cloth before dipping it into natural dyes, creating unique patterns. Shadow puppet carving teaches students to turn leather into lively characters, and paper-cutting helps them make beautiful artworks with just scissors. Each workshop is guided by ICH inheritors, who share the stories and history behind the crafts.
Teenagers have truly benefited from these experiences. Zhang Xiao, a ninth-grade student from Chengdu, shared, “I joined the tie-dyeing workshop during the summer vacation. It was amazing to watch plain white cloth turn into a beautiful scarf with my own hands. I learned about natural dyes and the patience required for traditional crafts.” Another student, Liu Yu, posted on Douyin, “The shadow puppet class opened my eyes to the wisdom of ancient Chinese artisans. It’s not just about making things — it’s about carrying on cultural traditions.”
Parents and teachers have spoken highly of these activities. A father from Hangzhou said, “My daughter used to spend most of her summer vacation playing video games. Now she is crazy about paper-cutting and has made many works for our family. These activities help her develop a real interest in traditional culture.” Teachers added that such experiences help bridge the gap between teenagers and traditional culture, making heritage learning more lively and meaningful.
By the end of July 2026, over 300 museums and cultural centers in 70 cities had set up ICH workshops for teenagers. Cultural experts believe these activities provide an innovative way to pass down cultural heritage. Netizens also expressed their support, saying, “When teenagers make ICH handcrafts, they are not just creating works — they are becoming inheritors themselves.”

3.What does the Chinese government encourage students to do?
4.How can museums provide better cultural services?
5.What do you think of going on a study tour of a museum? (请自拟一句话作答)

Nowadays AI is just like a “golden key” for the education field and offers great opportunities for both teachers and students.
However, just as a coin has two sides, AI may bring certain challenges as well. More and more students use AI tools like DeepSeek, Doubao, ChatGPT to help with their work. They let AI do tasks that normally require thinking—such as analyzing data, writing essays, solving hard problems, making decisions etc. But is this a good thing? An AI design researcher warns that if students depend too much on AI to think for them, they may lose their ability of thinking independently.
In conclusion, we’d rather use AI to make us think than think for us. Please think twice while using AI.
请将答案写在答题卡上。
1.How many levels do school AI curriculums have?
2.What are teachers encouraged to do by the Ministry of Education?
3.Why will excellent AI resources be collected on the national smart educational platform?
4.What will happen to the students who depend too much on AI to think for them?
5.What do you think is a wise way for students to use AI tools for study? (请自拟一句话作答)

1.What uses of onions are mentioned in Paragraph 1?
2.Why do your eyes make tears when cutting onions?
3.How can you avoid crying when cutting up onions? (Write one way)
4.In which part of a magazine can you probably read the text?
5.Do you like eating onions? Why or why not? (Please answer in your own words)

3.How many steps are required to make Fengxiang clay figurines?
4.What does the local government do to protect Fengxiang clay figurines?
5.How can you keep traditional arts like Fengxiang clay figurines alive? (自拟一句话回答)
1.What did people believe before Jane Goodall’s research?
2.How did Jane Goodall treat each chimpanzee while studying them?
3.How did Goodall feel after she found chimps could use tools?
4.What does the sentence “Goodall is gone, but her voice lives on” mean? (请自拟作答)
5.What can you learn from Jane Goodall? (请自拟作答)
